Tcode MC46 and slow-moving

Hi,
i am new to MC46. I even dont know if it belongs to MM or other modules. Can anyone answer my questions as below:
1) how is "slow-moving" defined in this code? what is its exact meaning? just means no transfer posting, no GR/GI?
2) what is the definition of consumption? does it mean "sell the goods to the custmer"? If it said 10days since consumption, does this mean there is no movement type 601 took place in the past 10days?
3) is there any relationship between this code and mb51?
points will be rewarded for the help. THanks!!

Hi,
Basically MC46 transaction is for finding out the Slow Moving Items. I.e. materials which haven't consumed from inventory in the specified period.
When we say "consumed", the mvt types that the system would consider are 201, 261, 301, 351, 543, 601, 631 and the related mvt types. It will not consider the postings with special stock E (sale order stock).
If there is no consumption posting for a material within the specified period (ex: 40 days), then the system will display the material master creation date for that material. Otherwise it will show the last posting date of any of the above movement types for that particular material.
From the last movement date , we can do a statistical analysis on the material being in inventory for a long period.
Hope this would clarify your query.
Regards,
garun

  • Report on  Dead stock and Slow moving stock

    Hi ,
On of my cleints requirement is to see the list of Dead stock and slow moving stock
I tried T.COde Mc50 and MC46 but I could not understand the report fully
In case of T.code MC50(dead stock) the input criteria for the report is just Plant,Pur org and Sales Org.
How does system identify an item as dead stock.
Is there any setting to define an item as dead stock before running report MC50?
In case of slow moving stock ,i want to see all the material for which no posting
happened for 60 days.In this case what value I need to select in T.Code MC46
    Thx in advance
    Deva

    Hi,
While using MC46 report under Scope of ranking list, select the No. of days up to last consumption as 60 days.
And execute with the other selection parameters.

  • Mc46 for slow moving items

we want to use slow moving items report. so we are using mc46 for the same. I want to know materials that are not consumed from 180 days so i have entered 180 in Period: last consumption field & ran the report. The result what i am getting is not inline with the mb51 movement comparision.
Can anybody let me know the logic of MC46 tcode. what movement types will be considered ?
An example: one material has got GR (101) posting on 7th July 2011. the same material has been issued to sub contractor (541 o) on 8th july 2011. but when mc46 is ran with 400 days,  in result i am getting 182 days (no consumption).
    how is this possible.

    Hi,
This report is directly linked to the material consumption, 541 is just a transfer and not consumption when 543 will be posted the material consumption history will be updated and then the report will give values accordingly. So it will anytime check for consumptions you can test this by entering unplanned consumption in your material master for any period and then try running this report.

  • Transaction code MC46 for slow moving

    Dear Experts
I need to take the list of slow moving material with last transaction date.I was tried with MC46 transaction and it gave me the list.
But i'm not able to under stand the logic , for example one part number shows Days since consumption is 417 days. And i checked up the transaction for that material , last transaction was 01.04.2006.It was correct. But many regular part number show 22 days , but even those parts are transacted daily.
If possible any can explain me the logic how the days are arrived and some parts mentioned as "no consumption"
    Thanks in advance
    Suresh

    Hi Suresh
It appears that the recent transactions were internal like sloc to sloc or qi to unrestricted etc - transaction that may not have had any accounting impact.
Please check the last date when any of your stock movement had an accounting impact like GR, GI etc and see whether the data tallies
Please reward points if this helps you

If you required  project stock and consignment stock with valuated stock report in same place you need to generate new info structure as given below link. Or you can go with customized report with abaper.

  • Reviewing Slow moving material and sign off

In our industry there is a lot of engineering type spares that don't move for 5 years + so everytime MC46 report is run these material are always at the top. We use MC46 report to give to the engineers to review the materials but they are sick of going over the same list and ticking them off to keep. Does anyone else have this problem?
I am looking at a way to ID those materials so they don't show up in the MC46 report so the engineers only get a recent (2 year no movement) report that can be actioned. Is there a way to add a "Review date" to the plant level of a material master and include the engineers username so we know who reviewed the material. We can then exclude these materials from MC46 to minimise the list.
The other option I was looking at was creating an new movement type called "Material review" and actually consuming and returning the material so it resets MC46.
Any comment to my problem please?

Your movement type idea could work but going forward it creates a false picture.
You could create a series of special ABC indicators and use these to classify the super slow moving items and set a review year (OK if they're that slow moving ?)
    For example:
    D - review in 2012
    E - review in 2013
    F - review in 2014
Another way to do it, a lot more intensive depending on the number of materials but gives you exactly what you want would be to create a prime variant, with super slow moving materials excluded and a series of balancing variants for these materials per individual e.g.  description = Joe Bloggs - review May 2011.
I think the ABC indicator gives you a broad brush, low maintenance, effective method.

  • Slow moving and non moving

    Dear friends,
Our client is currently doing the following process for inventory in legacy.
    1) XYZ analysis:based on stock values based on the Current inventory
X- is the materials having for high inventory value.
Y-is the materials having for mediam inventory value
Z-is the materials having for low inventory value
    2) FNS analysis:
N- Non moving materials--It is the list of materials of no issues for last three years but stock is still there .
S- slow moving materials --this materials are listed based on the average of opening and closing stock of the materials and 50% of those average stock and Slow materials are listed based on the those materials listed below the 50% of the average stock.
F- Other than those S and N materials.
    3) ABC analysis:This analysis based on the Past consumption , i mean this can be done through the ABC analysis:---MIBC transaction it can be done.
Please suggest how to do XYZ and FSN analysis in SAP,any standard process.
    Regards,
    Canand

    Hi,
for slow moving item use MC46 and in same you can do ABC analysis.you can maintain ABC indicator in MRP 2 view of material master.
    reward if helpful,

  • MC46-Slow moving,MC50-Non moving items LOGIC?

    Hi,
my client is not using these reports currently.
He wants to understand the logic behind these reports.
I'm trying hard but not able to understand that logic.
Please explain me step by step what to do so that i can learn first n then explain to my client
    Regards

    Hi Piyush
Slow moving---Items on which inventory Trnx. has done..such as Gr..Iv..goods Issue In a given time span
If u check MC46 it will ask last posting days
Non Moving:-Items on which inventory Trnx. has not done..such as Gr..Iv..goods Issue In a given time span.
If u check MC50 it will ask period to analyze i.e.Dead stock in a period of time...Means items on which no Trnx. have been passed for given period
I hope it will clear ur doubt little bit
