TCP connection for DHCP failover frequently are broken in Solaris 10

Hi
We have two dhcp servers which are installed in Solaris 10 and set to a failover pair. Currently, we can find that tcp connection for dhcp failover protocol are frequently broken. It looks like that primary dhcp server initiatively send FIN message to secondary one but in general, this tcp connection should always keep alive. On the other hand, the tcp connection can not completely be closed right now which FIN_WAIT_2 status in Primary one and CLOSE_WAIT status in secondary would last for a long time.
Will Solaris 10 cause this fault? Is it a known bug in OS?

Thanks!

Thanks, but had found a previous discussion with this hint and applied it.
svccfg -s sendmail listprop shows config /local_only = false
Yes, I would really love to fix the fault, but what I would really like is some hints as to how to debug ports under svc control.

  • Limit of concurrent tcp connections for 2012 Essential

    Hello!
I looking for what is the max number of concurrent tcp connections on windows 2012 r2 essential..
I didn'f find answers on here or on the web
    Any help wold be appreciate.
    thanks

    Hi,
There is no official article related to that. However, based on my experience, there is a registry key to define the maximum number of connections that TCP can have open simultaneously.
You can check the key of TcpNumConnections in registry editor under the path below:
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
If there is no such registry existing, you can add one and configure the value from 0x0–0xFFFFFE(REG_DWORD). (0 means that you cannot establish any connections)

  • Can't open TCP connection when two network adapter are enabled

    Hi all,
I've an applicaiton that connect using "TCP Open Connection". The applicaiton is running on a computer have two network adapters configured to be on two different network.
When I start the application, if both network adapters are enabled, connection is not created (timeout). When I disable the network adapter which is not configured for the network I need, connection is succesfull.
    - How can I choose which adapter to use to open the connection, as LabView seems enable to select the good one.
    - Or I can I disable a network adapter (just for the connection time)
I'm using LabView 8.5 Full on Windows XP.
    Thanks for your help

This is generally a routing issue. The OS will route connections to your primary network if it is not a direct route. For example, one network is 10.3.4.x (primary network) and the other is 192.168.1.x.with a subnet of 255.255.255.0. Now, let's say you want to reach a device with an 192.168.2.x address. The OS will try to route this through the primary network but is has no route to reach the 192.168.2.x subnet. Therefore your connection fails. You can add a permanent route to your computer to force specific address ranges to specific NICs. Use the ROUTE ADD command which is part of the OS. If you are trying to reach the computer using a name instead of the IP address the issue is basically the same but a but more challenging to resolve. The OS will do th elookup on your defined DNS servers. They generally do not have knowledge of local private networks and therefore can't resolve the name. In this case you need to create a more involved network infrastructure to update the name server. Probably not something that is feasible to do.

  • Unable to replicate reservation to DHCP failover cluster partner node

    Hello.
After reading that whilst DHCP address leases are replicated automatically to DHCP failover cluster partner nodes, and that reservations aren't, I followed steps to right-click the scope from the server which features the specified reservation, and select
'Replicate Scope'. The status window detailing the progression of associated tasks shows that replication of reservations to my other node partner, failed. The error code returned was 20022, which states that the specified IP address is currently taken by
    another client.
Why is this occurring? The other node I am trying to replicate to, is within the DHCP failover cluster, and so should be aware that the reservation I am trying to replicate is linked to the same device? Why am I unable to replicate the reservations?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
    Based on my research,
DHCP Failover automatically synchronizes leases between failover partners in Windows server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2.  However, configuration changes on one server in the failover relationship do not automatically get replicated
to the partner, you need to manually replicate by choosing the “Replicate Scope…”
or “Replicate Relationship…” option in DHCP Server.
In addition, for DHCP failover to function correctly, time must be kept synchronized between the two servers in a failover relationship. Please check if the time is synchronized between the two servers.
Besides, you can check the event log to see if any other related information exists.
    Best regards,
    Susie

  • HTTP tunneling / number of TCP connections

    Environment WLS 7.0 Sp2
We are experimenting with http tunneling and we noticed the following behavior,
when performing a lookup to get a handle to a few session beans that our UI is
using, Weblogic opens an additional TCP connection for every lookup however when
using t3 Weblogic opens a single connection for all of them. Our guess is that
Weblogic's T3 is optimized to pipeline and multiplex everything asynchronously
    over one TCP connection.
Is there a way to configure Weblogic to use a single TCP connection when tunneling?

I believe it would just be an OS-level limit, on the number of socket handles that can be opened.

  • Toplink support for RAC Failover

We need to enable Toplink to support RAC Fast Connection Failover. We need to support
only read query retry functionality and not write query retry. We found one document
    (http://www.oracle.com/technology/events/develop2007/presentations/oracle_jdbc_high_availability_load_balancing_best_practices_and_road_map.pdf)
that explains how to configure JDBC connection for RAC failover. However, since we
are using Toplink, we don't explicitly write our own jdbc url and toplink's session/uow
will automatically handle the actual sql query execution.
Is there any way we can configure Toplink to support RAC Fast Connection Failover, such
as possibly in the toplink's sessions.xml or in the oc4j container's connection pools setting?
Just for information, the way we acquire Toplink session is through SessionFactory:
       SessionFactory sessionFactory = new SessionFactory("repository",
                                     "META-INF/repository-sessions.xml");
Session toplinkSession = sessionFactory.acquireSession();Then we do queries, acquiring unit of work, etc, using that toplinkSession.
    Thanks.

We have enhanced our RAC FCF support in 11gR1 leveraging the new Universal Connection Pool to make it more seamless to the application. Which version of TopLink and OC4J are you using?

  • TCP connections used by RMI

    hello,
I tried making a simple RMI application to check about the usage of TCP connections for the communication. The client and server are running on different hosts and my observations are:
    a) when the client is invoking a method on the server at an interval of about 1 sec, then the same connection is used everytime for the communication.
    b) when the client is invoking a method on the server at an interval of about 30 sec, then the a new TCP connection is made everytime for the communication !
The java.rmi.dgc.leaseValue is set to 100 minutes in both cases. Does this not mean that the connection should be maintained for 100 minutes even if there is no communication between the client and server ??

thanks, I could not find any parameter in the standard properties list, however in the SUN specific properties we do have sun.rmi.transport.proxy.connectTimeout which should control the connection life. I use IBM's JRE, so I will try to find an equivalent property.
Another question ... what is the benefit of java.rmi.dgc.leaseValue if the TCP connection is closed itself ? Does the gc not happen if the TCP connection itself breaks ? Or does the RMI think about a logical connection which is independent of TCP connection's life ?

  • Tcp connection to Processing not working

    Hello,
I had a processing code designed for me to generate 8 different types of an audio signal - labeled as 8 conditions for an experiment i am running. I can use processing and Supercollider to play the audio signals no problem but when I try to set up an TCP connection between Processing and labview (2009 version) to run my experiment it does not execute the commands that have already been embedded into the processing code. I am using the correct port and IP address, as specified in the processing code but for some reason the commands that I set in labview, to generate the audio condition, do not work.
I can provide the audio code if necessary. When I 'run' the TCP connection in labview no errors are reported so it is making a connection but for some reason the command (e.g. 'C1' for condition 1) does not execute and I hear no audio.
any help would be greatly appreciated,

Apologies i may not have been clear before. The processing software is listening for a connection from labview. I am using the TCP connection to send a command (i.e. 'C1') to processing so that it will be executed. The reason I am using the TCP connection is because for my experiment I require subjects to follow this audio signal which is connected to the DAQ. I am basically assessing how well subjects can follow the signals. Labview allows me to run the experiment and all its elements at once.
I have sample labview work that I am basing everything on which I am told worked fine before but for some reason when i replicate their labview work it doesn't seem to work for me.
Attached is the 'labview connection patch' code that I run in 'Processing'. This code basically listens at a particular port/Ip address for a connection/command

  • Router closes TCP connection after 30 minutes

I have recently replaced my D-Link DIR-100 router with a Cisco Linksys RV042, but unfortunately there seems to be a problem with it.
I have an external TCP connection coming in to a local service, and I therefore set up the router to redirect the incoming connection for the given port to the local PC hosting the service. This worked perfectly. I also opened the Firewall access rules to allow all data from WAN2 to be propagated through. This also worked just fine, and I can connect from the internet to the local PC, just like I could with my old router. Unfortunately this is where the simularities stop. When there is no communication on the TCP connection for more than 30 minutes then the router closes the connection automatically. This is NOT what I want. I only communicate on the TCP connection very rarely, but I do not want it closed automatically - at least not after just 30 minutes.
I did some research on line and it appears that there in some routers are a TCP connection timeout, which in the router I read about, defaulted to 1 day. This would be OK. I experimented and found that if there is communication every 30 minutes then it is not close the connection, but if there is 50minutes between communication then it closes the connection.
As I read that this timeout has to do with security I experimented with the firewall and found the following:
    1. Disabling the entire router firewall fixes the problem !!!
    2. Disabling just DoS has no effect (problem still exists)
    3. Disabling SPI means I cannot connect at all !!! (new and much worse problem)
    4. Disabling Block WAN Requests has no effect (problem still exists)
Is there a way to solve this problem without disabling the entire firewall, as that is not what I want to do. I have the system set up for Dual WAN (load balancing), and I only want to allow connections to a handful of ports on the one WAN, and block the other WAN entirely.
P.S. I was referred to the Cisco Small Business Support Community by the Cisco Home community, so I hope this is the right place.

    Hi Ddb101,
This is a limitation (or feature depending on how you look at it) of the iPhone/iPod touch. 30 minutes after the device locks (usually 5 minutes of inactivity) the network turns off completely to save battery life. You can either turn autolock off globally, or some programs (mine for instance see: http://ootunes.com/app/ ) have an option that disables sleep while the app is running so the stream will keep playing... until your battery dies Only problem is with the screen on the battery actually dies even faster!
Finally, if the device is connected to a constant power source, it shouldn't actually time out. So if you have a way to plug it in, it shouldn't quit after 30 minutes on you...
    hope that helps,
also, since there's a link to my site up there, and I sell the app, I should tell you that I might get money if you go to the page and end up buying my app...

  • Does RMI protocol open a new TCP connection?

    Hey,
I have an eclipse client that runs on computer A,
And JBoss as a server that run on machine B.
The client initials the initial context and work against a stateless session bean.
When I ran sniffer I noticed in a strange behavior- a lot of new TCP connection and wait for a 3 seconds for each connection.
It seems strange; does RMI need to open a new TCP connection for each call?

Not necessarily for each call: RMI tries to conserve connections as much as possible, but of course it does need to open connections, and more than one at a time if there are multiple client threads doing RMI calls simultaneously.
I think we're actually talking about RMI/IIOP here if this is JBoss.

  • How to change the connection for a recurring report

I have a group of reports running in production on recurring schedules.  I need to update the database connection for these as we are changing our server environment.
I open the report in Crystal Reports 11 and changed the database connection saved the report back to the Enterprise Server location (I also have a backup of the original).  When I preview the report using the Central Management Console, the report uses the updated database connection info.  When I test the recurring report I get a logon failure.  When I go to the instance to look at the database logon for the recurring instance it shows the old database connection.
How can this database connection get updated for the current group of instances for these recurring reports?
    Thanks
