TCP EXTEND Server SIde configuration

one of the configuration which is required for server proxy scheme is address ofteh server
I can't specify localhost as server and tcp client is going to run on two differenet servers
I have to run this tcp extend server for 3-4 server for failover support
How can I specify address ( IP ADDRESS HERE) which can changed for each server configuration without specifying this config for each server differenetly
can I replace this address besed on property or system parameter or spring injection.
<proxy-scheme>
<service-name>ExtendTcpProxyService</service-name>
<thread-count>5</thread-count>
<acceptor-config>
<tcp-acceptor>
<local-address>
*<address>IP ADDRESS OF SERVER HERE</address>*
<port>9099</port>
</local-address>
</tcp-acceptor>
</acceptor-config>
<autostart>true</autostart>
</proxy-scheme>
</caching-schemes>

Why can't you use localhost? Surely this is what you want unless you are running on a machine with multiple network cards and need to bind to a particular address.
If you really want to be able to specify a different address for each machine you can do this
<proxy-scheme>
  <service-name>ExtendTcpProxyService</service-name>
  <thread-count>5</thread-count>
  <acceptor-config>
    <tcp-acceptor>
        <local-address>
            <address system-property="extend.address"></address>
            <port>9099</port>
        </local-address>
      </tcp-acceptor>
    </acceptor-config>
  <autostart>true</autostart>
</proxy-scheme>Coherence will now use the value of the extend.address system property as the value for your address. This can be passed in on the command line like this:
java -cp coherence.jar -Dextend.address=IP_ADDRESS_HERE com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServerObviously your command to start the cache servers would probably have more in it than that.

    David,
    Thanks for your detailed response. I will try all that you suggested and let you know my observation at the end. To give a back ground of the application I am working on.
    Background
    Try to replace home grown cache (very well optimized uses custom serialization using NIO bytebuffer etc.,) my mandate is to replace the legacy cache with coherence (I love coherence product (at least 3.4) from my previous job experience). Since all kind of optimization is done in legacy application I am converting NIO byteBuffer generated by legacy serialization to byteArray and converting ByteArray into POF. Also for various other reasons, I have to send entry processor to do even get and put data from the cluster.
    Raw Data Set Size
    My data size is just 500MB (In Production). I put enough cache nodes so that raw data is just 50MB per node. (Since it is compute heavy with entry processor and the number of clients are going to be ~2500)
    What was happening when I got the exception?
    I was doing stress testing of the cache. Not sure if that put lot of garbage in some of the node hence may be the garbage collection pause triggered the re-distribution of partition set. Since the stress testing was on the way it might had cascading effect on all the nodes.
    Datagram Test result.
    Tx summary 4 peers:
    life: 96 MB/sec, 68774 packets/sec
    now: 100 MB/sec, 71378 packets/sec, packets/burst: 1029, bursts/second: 69.41594
    Success rate ranges from 0.87 to 1.0
    Is a success rate less than 0.98 a cause for concern?
    Regarding Size (to keep the extend client always connected to the proxy)
    I do size request every 5 sec. if there is not other request has gone to the cluster in the past 5 sec.
    In one of the oracle presentation it was said that "If you have map listener's and no other request from a long period of time extend client has to do a periodic size request to make sure that connection to proxy is alive"
    In this regard my question is "Can the same effect achieved by doing member listener on the extend client and on disconnection do the size request?"
    Proxy Size guide lines
    In production number of extend clients are going to be ~2500 connected all the time.
    Of which 2000 clients with few map listener + entry processor gets (Each of the clients will have distinct and disjoint set of data on which they work and listener)
    And the remaining ~500 clients will do all kinds of request on the entire data set.
    In this circumstance is there any recommendation for Number of extend-client : Number of extend-server : Number of threads ratio?
    Regards
    /Anand

  • Initial Deserialization on TCP*Extend Server

    Hi Guys,
    I have observed something on a TCP*Extend server which I can't quite explain. We've got some hairy custom serialization inside an Externalizable bean. I was under the impression that classes aren't deserialized inside the cluster unless they need to be e.g. to processed by entry processors or value extractors on indexes. However, when I put one of these objects from a TCP*Extend client into the cluster on the tcp*extend server I see some slightly odd behaviour on the server where the deserialization method is called on an empty object and the object I've just send from the client is then serialized.
    Can I therefore assume there is an extra deserialization/reserialization loop on a tcp*extend server on data obtained from the client?
    Kind Regards,
    Max

    Hi Max,
    Yes, currently the ProxyService must deserialize/serialize data sent from/to clients as part of a POF translation step in order to support non-Java clients. We will be extending POF serialization support "into" the cluster in the next Coherence release. Once this is in place, this extra deserialization/serialization step will not be necessary and will be removed from the ProxyService.

  • Regarding tcp/ip server side

    Hello all,
    hope its not too irrelevant to the labview.
    I have gone through "simple data client.vi" and "simple data server.vi" examples, want to replace simple data server.vi with a simple c program on a different computer.
    Can someone please hint me how to form it?? using v8.5. The ultimate need is: c-program sends the required data to client(labview) whenever it is being requested.
    The labview and c-program are on different PCs.
    Not sure whether simple c-language instructions inport and outport(from dos.h) will do? or do I need to do some socket programming??
    Thanking you.

    Hi,
    You should be able to find a good TCP example written in C on the internet.  Searching on NI's website will most likely only yield LabVIEW examples.  Here is one link I found on the internet. I would search google for "tcp" and "C" to see what you might be able to find.

  • Configure SAP for server-side trust

    Hi all,
    I am installing BusinessObejcts XI integration for SAP Solution. I need configure SAP for server-side trust. I have read BussinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solution Installation Guide. In chapter 6, It introduce how to configure SAP Server-Side trust. But I don't understand how to configure SAP for server-side trust, specially configure SAP Cryptographic. Would you please to give me more detailed explanation?
    Please advise,
    Duypm

    Hi Duypm,
    the SAP server side configuration is part of the Installation Guide Chapter 6. It starts on Page 94.
    If you unclear about this and what SNC configuration means for the SAP server make sure you talk to the administrator for the SAP system. You need administrative rights for the SAP system and the system will have to be restarted as outlined in the installation guide

  • Lock Client-Side TCP-Extends

    Hi,
    I am running 2 processes on the same server both connecting to one cluster node.
    I need to ensure only one process performs a write operation @ a certain time (i.e. the first one to attain the lock).
    I am finding that both the processes are getting the lock, and cannot work-out why...
    We are using tcp-extends, and I am using the following related cluster configuration:
    <caching-scheme-mapping>
    <cache-mapping>
    <cache-name>cache.cluster.*</cache-name>
    <scheme-name>scheme.cluster.system</scheme-name>
    </cache-mapping>
    </caching-scheme-mapping>
    <caching-schemes>
    <proxy-scheme>
    <scheme-name>scheme.cluster.proxy</scheme-name>
    <service-name>service.cluster.proxy</service-name>
    <thread-count>4</thread-count>
    <acceptor-config>
    <tcp-acceptor>
    <local-address>
    <address system-property="datacloud.node.tcp-extend.bind-address">localhost</address>
    <port system-property="datacloud.node.tcp-extend.port">11200</port>
    </local-address>
    <keep-alive-enabled>true</keep-alive-enabled>
    </tcp-acceptor>
    </acceptor-config>
    <proxy-config>
    <cache-service-proxy>
    <lock-enabled>true</lock-enabled>
    <!--read-only>true</read-only -->
    </cache-service-proxy>
    </proxy-config>
    <autostart>true</autostart>
    </proxy-scheme>
    <replicated-scheme>
    <scheme-name>scheme.cluster.system</scheme-name>
    <service-name>ReplicatedCache</service-name>
    <lease-granularity>member</lease-granularity>
    <member-listener>
    <class-name>datacloud.cluster.listeners.ClusterMemberListener</class-name>
    </member-listener>
    <backing-map-scheme>
    <local-scheme />
    </backing-map-scheme>
    <autostart>true</autostart>
    </replicated-scheme>
    </caching-schemes>
    The client copies this scheme by using the following:
              <cache-mapping>
                   <cache-name>cache.cluster.lock</cache-name>
                   <scheme-name>scheme.remote</scheme-name>
              </cache-mapping>
    The lock essentially does:
    NamedCache cache = CacheFactory.getCache("cache.cluster.lock")
    boolean isLockAcquired = cache.lock("KEY", 5000)
    try {
    if(isLockAcquired) {
    (takes 2 seconds to complete)
    } finally {
    cache.unlock("KEY")
    Why can 2 processes acquire the same lock when asked to acquire it @ the same time?
    Edited by: 907011 on 10-Jan-2012 03:33

    Hi,
    This is my explination of why you are seeing the behaviour you are - I think it is correct but I am sure someone will jump in if not.
    1. Your cache config has <lease-granularity>member</lease-granularity> which means that a lock taken out by any thread on a member can be released by the same member. It also means that a Member owns the lock so if I do cache.lock() for a key from some code running on a Member and then do cache.lock() again for the same key on the same Member they will both succeed as the Member owns the lock.
    2. Now, when your first process calls <tt>boolean isLockAcquired = cache.lock("KEY", 5000)</tt> it gets the lock but it is not your client process that owns the lock, it is the Extend Proxy your client is connected to that owns it.
    3. Consequently when process two, connected to the same Extend proxy, asks for the lock, it gets it too, as it is not your client process that owns the lock, it is the Extend Proxy your client is connected to that owns it.
    4. Worse, when process one finishes and releases the lock, then it is released, even though your code in process two still thinks it is running inside the lock.
    As I said, that is my understanding of it and why locks do not really work from Extend Clients. In fact there are very few occasions where I would bother to use explicit locks in Coherence (hence my unfamiliarity about the exact workings) as there are usually other, more reliable, ways to achieve the same requirements.

  • How to configure server side discovery for email account configuration as an email provider ?

    Hello,
    I would like to know if there is any way to provide configuration settings for a regular (not Exchange) email account on server side (email provider side) ?
    iPhone is supporting autodiscover for Exchange but doesn't seem to support it for regular POP or IMAP mail accounts.
    I would like to avoid going through Profiles.
    Regards,

    A further restriction of team workspaces and their inbox is that you cannot write mails on behalf of the tws's address.
    Also, you cannot define aliases on the inbox of a tws. There is an open ER 8824582: CREATE AN ALIAS FOR A TEAM WORKSPACE'S EMAIL ADDRESS
    Furthermore, you need to wait for 2.1 to have IMAP access on tws's (we definitely hope 2.1 will bring this feature).
    All this brought us to the decision of not using tws's inboxes at all (not defining mail addresses for them), and use (pseudo) personal workspaces and delegation for functional inboxes.

  • VLAN - require any configuration on server side/host level ?

    Hi all,
    I always thought VLAN separate broadcast domain, and create "virtual" LANs across 1 physical switch.
    Also, it is a configuration to be done on the network switch side, any packet that goes into a VLAN interface, will be tagged automatically according to the VLAN it is connected.
    ==============================================================
    However from the link below ->
    http://www.linuxhorizon.ro/vlans.html
    It seems like VLAN is done on the server side/host OS as well.
    ===============================================================
    Q1) can i confirm if we need to set any configuration on OS level for VLANs ? If no, what is the link above trying to achieve ?
    Regards
    Noob

    With a normal client connection, as CF says, there is no need for any special vlan configuration on the host.
    However I think that link is referring to using a trunk from the host to the switch.
    Hopefully you read my other response before this one but when I talk about trunk above I'm not talking about how Unix refers to a trunk, I am using Cisco terminology.
    A trunk in Cisco terminology is a link that can carry traffic for multiple vlans. And you can run a trunk to a host device and then that device can send and receive traffic for multiple vlans.
    It's not often done with PCs but it is more common with servers although a lot of servers still are only a member of one vlan.
    Without wishing to confuse you a common setup in the Cisco world is an etherchannel trunk between switches ie. a single logical link made up of multiple physical links that can carry traffic for multiple vlans.

    Hi Zia,
    The error is...
    Caused by: java.io.InvalidClassException: org.eclipse.persistence.indirection.IndirectList; local class incompatible: stream classdesc serialVersionUID = 4038061360325736360, local class serialVersionUID = -494763524358427112
    ...which means you have two different versions of org.eclipse.persistence.indirection.IndirectList, one on the server and one in the client (JDeveloper). As these classes have different serialVersionUID values then Java throws an exception when deserializing as they are probably not compatible.
    I don't know much about the Eclipse stuff but from looking at your post I can only assume one version of the class is in D:\Coherence\toplink\jlib\eclipselink.jar on the Coherence server side and the other is in JDevloper in D:\OracleSOA\Middleware\modules\org.eclipse.persistence_1.1.0.0_2-1.jar as these are the only jar file containing "eclipse" that I can see on the classpaths.

  • Cache config for distributed cache and TCP*Extend

    Hi,
    I want to use distributed cache with TCP*Extend. We have defined "remote-cache-scheme" as the default cache scheme. I want to use a distributed cache along with a cache-store. The configuration I used for my scheme was
    <distributed-scheme>
      <scheme-name>MyScheme</scheme-name>
      <backing-map-scheme>
        <read-write-backing-map-scheme>

    Hi,
    Is it that I need to define my distributed scheme with the CacheStore in the server-coherence-cache-config.xml and then on the client side use remote cache scheme to connect to get my distributed cache?

  • Scheduling web intelligence reports from SAP EP Portal : Server Side Trust

    Hello,
    We have set-up SSO between SAP EP 701, SAP BI 701 and Business Object XI 3.1  to allow users to access reports without having to sign-on again as explained here :
    /people/ingo.hilgefort/blog/2008/09/19/businessobjects-and-sap--configure-sap-authentication
    But, we have recently been contacted by some users because when scheduling Webi Report from a link within the portal they have the following errors :
    u201CA database error occured. The database error text is: Unable to connect to SAP BW server System received an expired SSO ticket. (WIS 10901) u201D
    The user told us that he doesn't encounter the error when :
    Login in directly to the BO Infoview (without SSO from the SAP Enterprise Portal.)
    The first Webi scheduling is succesful from the portal (I suppose because the portal token is still valid)
    I understand that we also have to configure the Server Side Trust between BO Enterprise server and the SAP BI7 backend as explained here , but I do not really understand its purpose
    https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700001646962008E/XI3-1_BIP_SAP_INSTALL_EN.pdf
    I've found a similar discussions here ;
    Issue with SAP Single Sign-On and Scheduling Reports
    I still have some questions :
    If we configure the Server Side Trust between BO Enterprise server and the SAP BI7 backend .
    The Portal Logon ticket will remain an issue at some point of time , does it mean tha the WeBi report job sheduling should not be perfromed from the SAP EP Portal ?
    We haven't configured the Server Side Trust , yet the users told us that they are able to schedule webi report directly from the BO Infoview ? How is it posible ?
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Regards.

    Thank you Mr Hilgefort for your detailled explanations.
    I now have to provide some explanations to my managers, and to be honest , there are still some points that
    are unclear to me, and it would be extremely helpful if could confirm (or not) the follwoing points.
    When scheduing Webi report from the sap portal, we're getting SSO errors.
    SAP provide the follwoing note explaining how to extend the validity of the J2EE token (Portal token), but this is not a long term solution, at certain point of time the ticket will expire. Webi shceduling should not be perfromed from the Portal.
    Sap note 1352127 - Scheduled Webi report fails with: A database error occurred. The database error text is: Unable to connect to SAP BW server System received an expired SSO ticket
    Webi Scheduling should be performed from BO Infoview. SNC should be configured between BO server and SAP BI7.0 backend.
    We should Configure Server SNC as explained in the BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solutions Installation and Administration Guide at Chapter "Configuring SAP for server-side trust". (1341043)
    The SAP Portal is not involved here and is not an option even with the configuration of SNC/Server side trust.
    thank you for your patience.
    Best Regards.

  • HOWTO: Setting up Server-Side Authentication with SSL

    This howto covers the configuration of server-side SSL authentication for both Net8 and IIOP (JServer) connections. It documents the steps required to set up an SSL encrypted connection; it does not cover certificate authentication.
    It is worthwhile noting that although the setup of SSL requires the installation of certificates, these certificates do not have to be current, only valid. For some reason, in order to enable SSL connections, it is necessary to set up valid certificate file on the server whether you intend to use certificate authentication or not.
    NOTE: I have been unable to determine whether or not the above statement is entirely correct. If anyone can confirm or disprove it, please let me know.
    The steps described below must all be carried out from the same logon account. They have been tested on both 816 and 817 databases, but will probably work for all versions, including 9i (unless there have been some drastic changes in 9i that I'm not aware of).
    1. Log on to the database server with an administrative login.
    Configure the database and listener to run under the current login account (Control Panel -> Services). It is not necessary to restart these services at this time.
    2. Create an Oracle wallet and set up the required certificates
    (i) Open the Oracle Wallet Manager:
    Start -> Programs -> [Oracle Home] -> Network Administration -> Wallet Manager
    (ii) Create a new wallet (Wallet -> New).
    (iii) When prompted, elect to generate a certificate request.
    (iv) On the request form, the only field that matters is the Common Name. Enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the database server (i.e. the name with which the database server will be referenced by clients).
    (v) Export the certificate request to file (Operations -> Export Certificate Request).
    (vi) Obtain a valid server certificate from an authorised signing authority. It will also be necessary to download the signing authoritys publicly available trusted root certificate. Certificates can be obtained from Verisign (http://www.verisign.com/)
    (vii) Install the trusted root certificate obtained in (vi) into the wallet (Operations -> Import Trusted Certificate). Either paste the contents of the certificate file, or browse to the file on the file system.
    (viii) Install the server certificate obtained in (vi) into the wallet (Operations -> Import User Certificate). Either paste the contents of the certificate file, or browse to the file on the file system.
    (ix) Save the wallet (Wallet -> Save). The wallet will be saved to the [user home]\Oracle\Wallets directory.
    3. Configure the listener for SSL.
    (i) Open the Oracle Net8 Assistant:
    Start -> Programs -> [Oracle Home] -> Network Administration -> Net8 Assistant
    (ii) Select Net8 Configuration -> Local -> Profile.
    (iii) From the drop-down list at right, select Oracle Advanced Security. Select the SSL tab.
    (iv) Select the Server radio button.
    (v) In the wallet directory field, enter the location of the wallet created in step 2, e.g. C:\WINNT\Profiles\oracleuser\ORACLE\WALLET
    (vi) Uncheck the Require Client Authentication checkbox.
    (vii) Select Net8 Configuration -> Listeners -> [listener name].
    (viii) Add a new address:
    Protocol: TCP/IP with SSL
    Host: [database server FQDN] (e.g. oraserver)
    Port: 2484
    (ix) Add a second new address:
    Protocol: TCP/IP with SSL
    Host: [database server FQDN] (e.g. oraserver)
    Port: 2482
    Check the Dedicate this endpoint to IIOP connections checkbox.
    (x) Save the Net8 configuration (File p Save Network Configuration).
    (xi) Restart the listener service.
    4. Configure the database to accept SSL connections.
    (i) Open the database inti.ora file (\admin\[SID]\pfile\init.ora or equivalent).
    (ii) At the bottom of the file, uncomment the line that reads
    mts_dispatchers = "(PROTOCOL=TCPS)(PRE=oracle.aurora.server.SGiopServer)"
    (iii) Save the file and restart the database service.
    5. Test the SSL confi guration using the Net8 Assistant.
    (i) Open the Oracle Net8 Assistant.
    (ii) Select Net8 Configuration -> Local -> Service Naming.
    (iii) Add a new net service (Edit p Create).
    Net service name: [SID].auth (e.g. iasdb.auth)
    Protocol: TCP/IP with SSL
    Host: [database server] (e.g. oraserver)
    Port: 2484
    Service Name/SID: [SID] (e.g. iasdb.orion.internal)
    Note: at the end of the net service configuration, click Finish, not Test. The test can hang if run from the wizard.
    (iv) Test the connection (Command -> Test Service). If the only error to appear is username/password denied, the test has succeeded.

    Dear Alex,
    Thank you for reaching the Small Business Support Community.
    I would first suggest you to uncheck the "Perfect Forward Secrecy" setting on the RVS4000 and if see if there is some similar setting enabled, then disable it, on the other side.  If still the same thing happens, then go to RVS4000, VPN Advanced settings, and disable the "Aggressive Mode" so it becomes "Main mode" and use the same on the other end of the tunnel.
    Just in case and as a VPN configuration guide, below is a document called "IPSec VPN setup" if it helps somehow;
    http://sbkb.cisco.com/CiscoSB/Loginr.aspx?login=1&pid=2&app=search&vw=1&articleid=587
    Besides my suggestions I would advise you to contact your ISP to make sure there is no IPSec traffic restrictions and/or if there is something in particular they require to make this happen and please do not hesitate to reach me back if there is any further assistance I may help you with.

  • Establish a connection through RF modem's on client & server side & to set up PPP communication for data transfer

    hi
    can any1 over here help me out in how to establish connection between 2 RF modem's for data transfer , between client & server USing LABVIEW?
    I want to establish a connection between 2 PC's through  RF modem on client & server side & to set up PPP communication for data transfer.
    (I have tried data transfer through RS-232 using TCP/IP whn the 2 PC's are connected over ethernet... which is working.
    I also tried connecting loopback cable between 2 PC's COM port & geting data transfer using VIsa configure serial port & other visa functions  ... which is working)
    can u guide me how to establish connection between 2 RF modem's using LABview?
    & how does the data transfer take place between 2 RF modems through RS-232?
    is it using TCP/IP?
    If you got any links to go abt this issue do send me related links .. or any examples .....
    I am currently using Labview version 8.
    Waiting in anticipation.. reply ASAP..
    thanking you
    Regards
    Yogan..

    Howdy yogan,
    Maybe you could clarify a few things for me, and we'll see how we can help ya. TCP/IP protocol occurs through an ethernet connection; RS-232 communication occurs through an RS-232 serial connection, typically through a cable that has a DB9 connector on both ends. Do you mean that the RF modems in question have the option to communicate via RS-232 and/or via TCP/IP ethernet? Specific information like the manufacturer of your RF modems, the model number of your RF modems, and how you connect the modems to the PC would enable us to give you more efficient support.
    You can check our Instrument Driver Network (IDNet) to see if a plug-and-play/IVI driver already exists for your RF modem. (You'll need to know its manufacturer and model number.) In the case that you do find an IDNet driver for your modem, you can use this KnowledgeBase article for instructions on how to use the driver.
    Another excellent resource to consider is the NI Example Finder. You can access this within LabVIEW by navigating to Help»Find Examples and then searching for serial or TCP/IP examples.

  • Client side configuration

    Hi Everybody,
    Thanks to all of the oracle experts.
    We installed oracle 10.2 RAc database on the server side using 2 nodes on solaris 10.
    Raw devices are used for clusterware installation.
    ASM is configured for database shared files.
    Now i want to configure on the client side as they should be able to connect to this database.
    would anybody kindly provide me how to do this.
    i am in very need of it.
    thanks and regards
    suresh

    You need to install Oracle Software Client and configure tnsnames.ora with something like
    ORCLTEST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oraclerac1vip)(PORT = 1521))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = oraclerac2vip)(PORT = 1521))
    (LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    (FAILOVER_MODE =
    (TYPE = SELECT)
    (METHOD = BASIC)
    (RETRIES = 180)
    (DELAY = 5)
    You must view oraclerac1vip and oraclerac2vip using DNS or you add this host to host table.
    Regards.
