Tds3000 signal check

I am running LabVIEW 8.2.1 and using a Tektronix TDS3034B to read some signals. I have the O-scope connected via GPIB-USB cable and I occasionally lose all communication with the scope. Is there any way to ping the scope to be sure I have connection with it before beginning my test? A lot depends on receiving a signal from the scope! Any help would be great!
Thanks!

*IDN? can easily be used programatically.  You just send it to the instrument using VISA, GPIB, serial or whatever; and then read the return string.  [see example LABVIEW - GPIB.vi]
As mentioned Find VISA Resource will work too (it uses *IDN? internally).  Or, the GPIB status VIs will also verify communication.  The Instrument Drivers you're using for your TDS 3000 series scope should have a simple VI that works as well but I don't use that model so I'm not sure.  The 5000 and 7000 series drivers have revision check VIs that will return the firmware version, and the initialize VI can be set to return the ID string.  All these techniques will verify your connection.
BTW, I've also had trouble with Textronix USB comm but NOT when using a USB-GPIB interface, only plain USB.
Using LabVIEW: 7.1.1, 8.5.1 & 2013

  • Hi! I purchased my ATV in Miami, but I live in Argentina. I have not been able to get the device running on any TVs. When I plug it in, it briefly shows the apple logo, then a sign saying no signal, check power cords and power source or sthg like that.

    Hi!
I purchased my AppleTV in Miami, but I live in Argentina.
I have not been able to get my device running correctly, and altough I've read tons of things online, I still have no solution to my problem.
Here's the thing: after everything's plugged in and ON, I see the Apple logo briefly, then the TV displays a sign that says no signal, check pwoer cords and power source.
But everything is plugged in and connected properly, otherwise, I doubt I'd be seeing the apple logo, right?
I tried changing the HDMI cable, reversing the ends, switching ports, hard resetting the ATV, and trying a different TV. No luck.
I read there is some issue with Samsung TVs, and most LED and LCD tvs down here are Samsung.
On the other hand, I cannot return it or exchange it, since I bought it in the states.
Oh! One of the tvs I tried it on displays a little sign that reads "connected at 1280x720 @60hz", and only THEN, goes to the "no signal" sign.
Please!!! I am being driven up the walls here.... HELP!!

    Try this:
    Change the Apple TV resolution:
Press and hold the Menu and Up button on your Apple Remote for six seconds.
The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals.
Press Play on the Apple Remote to keep the current resolution or Select to manually cycle to the next resolution.

  • Apple TV worked until today. Message says unsupported signal check your output device.  I have checked hdmi cable with another device and it's fine. Put on a different tv and same message.  Went out yesterday and bought a new Apple TV and same problem.

Apple TV worked until today. Message says unsupported signal check your output device.  I have checked hdmi cable with another device and it's fine. Put on a different tv and same message.  Went out yesterday and bought a new Apple TV and same problem.

    Which TV do you have.
You may wish to try the following:
Press and hold the menu and the up button simultaneously on the remote for six seconds, the Apple TV should then begin to cycle through the various resolutions available to it at 20 second intervals.. If you see a picture appear up on your screen, use the remote to scroll down to the OK option and select it.

  • HDMI unsupported signal check device output

    Hi,
I have a new youview box and I want to use it with my Sony KDL-40EX700 TV using HDMI. While booting, the TV displays unsupported signal check device output for a while, then it displays YOUVIEW logo and writes Nearly Ready underneath. After a short while it again goes back to unsupported signal check device output. When I connect using video output it works. I can set the HDMI output resolution to 1080i or 720p using the analog video cable, but when I switch back I still get unsupported signal, check device output.
I have seen several people having similar problems before. Is this not resolvable?

    Hi
I've got exactly the same issue, waited two weeks for the update as this was meant to fix the issue but makes absolutely no difference, I rang support and got a fob off answer "we are aware of the problem and are looking in to it"(I get the feeling as he was somewhere not in the UK! he hasn't even seen a YouView box) I myself work as a technical support engineer and my Boss wouldn't have been impressed to say the least if I ever gave that answer to any of our customers.
I get the feeling that BT/Humax expect everyone to go out and buy a new TV that might work with the HDMI issue which is stupid as I and I suspect alot of other customers left Virgin or other services to sign up to BT & YouView to save money only to be extremely dissapointed -  I 'm going to give it a month if there hasn't been a firmware to finally fix the issue on HD Televisions, I'll move to Talk Talk as they use Huawei boxes

  • No video signal check video cable p6531p

    HP PavillionModel p6531p Product WW599AA Windows 7 64-bit
I receive the following message within seconds of powering on the computer:
    "no video signal"
    "check video cable"
    "monitor going to sleep"
I have tried four different monitors with two different cables, 2 keyboards, and 2 mouses or mice whichever is correct.
Video is on board, so I tried installing a new video card in my PCI-E x 16 expansion slot.  I can't disable the on board due to not having video.  I was hopeful that the new one would over ride the on board.
I've tried as many of the trouble shooting ideas available on the HP website.  I don't have video, so I can't try them all.
I did try resetting the BIOS using the directions that were included even if you couldn't see anything on the monitor.
    Any suggestions?

What type of connection? DVI? Are you sure it is a onboard graphics Card? Most monitor failure is the result of power supply you might want to try that.

  • Nokia Maps need signal check option

Yes, when I connect by 1º time ando no signal of GPS I must exit from it and go to Garmin than it has signal metter.
Would be fine than Nokia Maps at his menu has a option to access to a signal meter.... or as is from the same Nokia, an option to access to same meter as Location > GPS data > Options > Satellite Status

    @leo3487
Are you saying that your N97 Mini doesn't have Menu > Applications > Location > GPS data > Position > Options > Satellite Status or that algorithm utilised by Garmin Mobile Xt seems to produce satellite strength reading faster?

  • No signal on Apple TV3

Today i turned on my TV. Pressed the apple remote, the apple TV3 is showing the usual white light.
But, the TV says "no signal, check the connected device powersupply and cable connection and sourcequality"
When i press on buttons on my apple TV remote the light doesnt change.
Switching the HDMI cable to different HDMI 1,2,3 etc doesn't solve the problem.
    What's wrong?

You might try a hard reset.  It's helped me in the past.
To reset your Apple TV, press and hold the Menu and Down keys for at least 6 seconds until the white light on the ATV rapidly blinks. Let go of the buttons and the device will restart.

  • Run 2 PCI 6024E in parallel -- Dirty signals

    Hi everyone,
I have two PCI-6024E Cards in my system. I want to run them parallel in continuous acquisition mode (I need to monitor 12 channels in differential mode).
    The VI works like this:
Two tasks are configured for continuous acquisition (Device 1 and 2). In a following while-loop I read a certain number of samples from both devices, do some calculations, and write an extract (2 Vals) to a log file. Loop starts over.
    The problem:
When doing so I have false measurements 3 to 4 times a second. Strength about 70% of my input range.
    Things I did so far:
Checking the circuitry by using an analog data recorder. Result: clean signal
Checking the channels in MAX (test feature). clean signals
If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated
    Peter
p.s. I attached a copy of the code

    Hello Peter,
first you should insert an error cluster to display the error (inside and outside from the while loop).
Then you should reduce the amount of data for example from 600.000 to 6.000.
You have 12 Channels with 600.000 values per channel and you save double values.
The function "Save Data" needs a lot of time.
You should try to open the file before you jump into the while loop.
In the while loop follows the write function and outside from the while loop the close function.

  • Phonic Firefly 302 problem, can't recieve any audio signal

Having some trouble getting any audio levels into garageband from my PF 302 firewire interface. The computer is an I-Mac running 10.4.10. According to the instructions for the Firefly I don't have to download any drivers or software, is this true?
I went into the Utilities folder then to Audio/Midi and changed the Inputs to the Firefly 302 but it won't let me change the volume input on the individual channels. They are faded out and I can't access them, what gives? Is this why I can't get any audio in from the mic?
I have signal on the input indicator lights on the Firefly and when I changed the output to the Firefly I could see the metronome reading on the firefly's indicator output lights so I know the computer and firefly are talking to each other.
Is there some setting I'm missing somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way if you haven't noticed by my "highly technical" jargon I'm new to mac's and digital recording altogether. Thanks again!!

alright, so i'm not an expert, but i'm presuming your using the firefly 302 plus, your using the mic input on the front of the firefly, then what are you using for output? the headphone jack or the 1/4 out on the back? So what you need to do is make sure the green lights are on on the front of the firefly, if the red lights turn on, that means your signal is clipping. so you want to have the highest signal you can while not hitting the red on your firefly. Then you should select the firefly in your preferences/audio midi/audio input, but keep the audio output built in output or whatever speakers you use. The next thing is to make sure the track you want your voice on is a real instrument track and that the little dot on the left of the track is red, and the lock a little to the right of it is NOT green. Then if you don't get a strong signal, check the volume levels on the firefly, and in garage band, and if you still are having problems try pushing the +48 phantom power button on the firefly. If that doesn't work I need to know what your using to connect the firefly to your mac.
    Hope that helps Jamie

  • Apple Airport Extreme No Wireless Signal

Other than downgrading firmware, re-installing software or reinstalling an older OS (Windows style thinking), does anyone have a solution to this problem
I have an Apple Airport Extreme that has recently become useless because it emits or receives no radio signals.
I was running a Wireless Distributions System for a couple of years without any problems. The Extreme was the base connected by Ethernet to a cable modem. I had an Express as a relay station.
One day the Extreme stopped. Naturally, the WDS died. I played with the Extreme for a 1/2 day, but couldn't it too work. I made the Express into my sole Wifi base. Workable but not ideal, I now have dead zones in my house.
I finally found time to spend (waste) another day trying to get the Extreme working again. No luck. Some observations:
    - the only useful advice I found to date, was to set the Extreme from automatic to a specific channel, the Extreme worked for about 20 mins. Strangely, my iBook couldn't find the signal, but my Dell PC could!
    - I can get Internet access when use the LAN Ethernet outlet on the Extreme
    - the centre status light is one, the LAN is on, the wireless is out
    - Amazingly, at one point disconnected the LAN cable between the Extreme and my iBook, and launched the Airport Utility and it found the Extreme wirelessly!!!
    - Not only that, but I could configure the Extreme wirelessly!!
    - Yet during that time and after, the Extreme emitted no wireless signal - checked by Windows and Mac Laptop
    - So if the hardware is emitting a signal that allows for configuration but not simple internet access, it is probably not a hardware problem and sure looks like a software problem, most likely between the OS and firmware.
    - I have upgraded the Extreme to 5.7, many posts say go back to 5.5 but only a few claim this actually works.
    - I am running Mac OS 10.3.9 on all my various Macs. Apple software updates are current.
This wave of posts reminds me of time when iBooks had a faulty motherboards. This looks like an easier fix, a firmware or software patch.
If anyone has a real solution, as opposed to an experimental one, I would appreciate it. Other posts recommend switching to more reliable third party hardware, I guess it might come to that.
    Thanks.
iBook, Mini Mac, iMac   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Sounds like possible interference from a new neighbor's wireless network. Have you tried other wireless channels to see if you can find some clearer airspace?
AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > Wireless Tab (below the icons)
Hold down the option key on your Mac as you click on the Channel selection box to see more choices.
You might also want to download a utility like Air Radar to display all of the visible networks in your area. Click on Scan at the lower right of the main window. Look for the channels that other networks are using and set your router to a channel that is as far away as possible.

  • Triggering signal

    Hello,
i am doing some acceleration measurement on a gear box. On the shaft there is installed a rotary encoder with 2048 lines. At the casing there is an acceleration sensor.  I want to accquire one acceleration sample each time a falling edge of the rotary encoder occurs.
So the sampling rate will be dependent on the number of revolutions of the gear box.
How can i handle this problem?
    Hardware: PXI-6123
    Thank you for help!
    Jens

    Okay,
i think it should work this way! But there is an error message!
    Ther german text says:
"Fehler -200019 ist bei DAQmx Read (Analog 2D DBL NChan NSamp).vi:3 aufgetreten
Eine ADC-Konvertierung wurde vor Abschluss der vorherigen Konvertierung gestartet.
Verlängern Sie die Periode zwischen ADC-Konvertierungen. Wenn Sie einen externen Takt verwenden, überprüfen Sie, ob das Signal Rauschen oder Spannungsspitzen enthält."
    Here the translation:
    "Error - 200019 ...
An ADC-conversion is started before the end of another.
Make the period between ADC-conversions longer. If you use a extern timing signal check if the signal has noise or peaks."
I checked the signal with an oszilloscope. There is some nois and peaks. But how much noise is okay??? Has anyone experience with noisy signals???
    regards

  • Poor signal/service

Is there some way to improve the signal check the signal for this phone as my brother in law was where I live with a iphone4 in the summer and he had no service issues when he was here.We renewed our contract with a i phone4 and can't even call each other in our own house! I had no problems with our old cells and use a internet stick for high speed at home as we have no other way to get high speed internet where we live as we have a booster antenna as well.

        Hello mojo622,
I am so sorry to hear that you've having problems with the service in your area. We definitely want to make sure that we address any service issues you may be experiencing. Can you please provide the zip code where you're experiencing these problems? Also, what is the make and model of your phone? You can update your roaming, and possibly improve service on a 4G phone by powering the phone off, and removing, then reinserting the SIM card.
On a 3G or a basic phone, you can update by dialing *228, option 2. Please give this a try, and let us know if things improve.
Also, I want to let you know, we now conduct business via Facebook and Twitter. You can send us a Private Message on Facebook, in lieu of sending an email, for any questions, or concerns about your account.

  • No picture when connecting Mac Mini GMA 950 to Panasonic TX-PF42G10 via HDM

    Hi !
I have a Mac Mini Core Duo 1,66 GHz with GMA950 chipset (MacMini1,1 sold from february 2006 to september 2006) which I was using as a Plex mediacenter connected to an old CRT display via an s-video adapter.
I purchased a brand new Panasonic TX-PF42G10 plasma screen the other day, and for the life of me I can't get my Mini to feed anything to the HDMI inputs via a DVI/HDMI cable.
When I remotely connect to my Mini with ARD or VNC, I can see it successfully detects I have a "Panasonic-TV" and lets me choose 1920x1080 either in 24Hz, 50Hz or 60Hz. I tried all three : no picture.
Tried connecting this Mini via the VGA input: works fine.
I tried to install SwitchResX but I don't really know what to do with it. Tried to install Snow Leopard too, but it didn't help either.
YET I FOUND SOMETHING RATHER INTERESTING.
I have another more recent Mini (one of the new 2009 models), hooked up to a Samsung T240HD display via DVI. Since this display also has an HDMI input, I tried to connect the other, older Mini to it. And then... the Samsung display wouldn't let me pick the HDMI input from the source menu!
I thought "***???", and then I tried to connect the newer Mini to this HDMI input: works great! I then kept the HDMI end connected to the display, unplugged the DVI end from the newer Mini and plugged it back to the older Mini : BINGO, picture at last...... except the display kept showing a "No signal, check cable" message (even though it was displaying my Mini desktop!).
So I thought "OK, some handshaking problem I guess". I unplugged the HDMI connector from the Samsung display and replugged it immediately: like I thought, once more the display wouldn't let me pick the HDMI input!
So I guess this is the same problem I'm having with the Panasonic plasma: this older Mini is unable to tell the TV that it is connected to it, even though it can perfectly read the TV specs. I've had no time to check what happens if I connect the newer Mini to the Panasonic plasma, but I'd bet it will work just fine.
So basically, my question is: will I ever be able to use this old Mini of mine with this shiny new plasma screen, or will I have to purchase another 2009 Mini? Is there anything I can do with SwitchResX? If so, what should I try?
Thanks for taking the time to read, and thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Sounds quite possibly like the Panasonic enforces HDCP over its HDMI inputs and the older GMA950 equipped mini is unable to oblige.
That's what I thought too, as the newer Mini works just fine with my two screens, using the very same cable I used with the older Mini. Bugger...
FYI, I tried 720p : no picture either.
Does the Panasonic's user guide make reference to making computer connections over HDMI? It could be that only one of the HDMI inputs on the TV is designated for computer input, e.g. only one of the TV's HDMI inputs can work from a non-HDCP compliant source.
I do think I tried all 3 inputs, and the user manual never suggests that one of them is designated for computer input (I know some Samsung screens work that way, but this Panasonic doesn't seem to). Anyway, I'll give it a try once more, but I have little hope...
Meanwhile, I connected my Mini via VGA, 1366x768 resolution. Not too bad when viewed from the sofa, but it kills me not to be able to use the digital input...
    Thanks for your replies, though

  • I want to move a channel

I have returned from holiday to find that my BT Vision + box channels have all been altered by BT. My previous signals were from the Winter Hill transmitter, north west, but then altered to BBC Wales,(1) ITV Wales (3) and SC4 (Welsh language) (4) I have spent a lot of time doing rescans, particularly using the trick of letting the scan proceed, in part, with the aerial out, and more by luck than judgement, I have BBC NW (1) and ITV NW (3) back. So I now have the stations back to normal with the exception of Channel Four. I found it on number 896 and made it a Favourite, and it can be accessed by going to Favouites after pressing the BTVision button. SC4 occupies the position of Channel Four in my channel listings. I want to delete SC4 altogther and replace it with Channel Four, so I have channels 1,2,3,4,5,etc etc. Is this possible? I am apprehensive of doing yet another channel scan in case the others revert to the Wales transmitter. It looks to me as if SC4 can be 'hidden' but not removed. What is the point of that?

    Hi TimothyWF,
Welcome and thanks for posting. Take a look at Missing Freeview channels on BT TV. try clicking on Channel & signal check. Let us know if that helps.
    Cheers
