Tecra M5: Wireless connection no longer works

I have a new Toshiba Tecra M5. I originally set it up to connect to my home/office WAP with no problems. After using it to a location where no WAP was available and bringing it home, the wireless connection "is not available" and I cannot make it so.
Additional information: I have two other systems connected to my WAP without any problems. I can connect the Toshiba to my home LAN via cable without problems. I have already reloaded the latest drivers and tried to restablish a completly new wireless connection without success.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Bob

Hi
It sounds like you have used the notebook in 2 different WLan networks.
In my opinion you should refresh the connection.
Go to the WLan properties and select the Wireless networks tab.
There you can set the home WLAN to the preferred networks. This should be done if you have set your WLan network as invisible. Use also the option View Wireless networks.
If your home WLan is not in the list so you have to Add the WLan SID.
Usually the WAP encryption password must be set again

  • MacBook to tv connection no longer working.  OS 10.8

I have a mid-2010 MacBook, running OS10.8.  I was able to use my Panasonic TV as a monitor but the connection no longer works.  I tried the "Safe Mode" solution and that worked for awhile.  After trying to connect (unsuccessfully), when I turn the tv off (still connected to lap top) the lap top screen flashes blue for a nano second.
Any suggestions for getting around this problem?

Your version of Mail didn't upgrade properly because you've moved it from its expected location location (to a sub folder you've named "APPLE apps").
Move it back into the HD/Applications folder and apply the 10.6.8 "Combo" update to fix things.

  • Remote Desktop Connection no longer works.

After verifying that all Remote Desktop Connection settings and firewall settings match the requirements, I cannot connect to the host computer running Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center from a client computer running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 over my
home (private) network. I was previously able to connect these same two computers when the host computer was running Windows XP Pro, but now that I have upgraded its operating system to Win 8.1 Pro the connection no longer works. The Windows Troubleshooter
cannot find the problem. What is wrong?

If you turn off a firewall in a router it is still using NAT which will also act like a firewall. In my experience its better to let your router be the firewall.
On most routers that have an SPI firewall you have to setup 2 rules to allow remote connections. One would be the firewall rule and other would be the port forwarding(NAT) rule.
Are you forwarding the correct ports to your mac from the router? Does your Mac have a fixed IP address?

  • I used to send photos from my Lumix Tz-40 camera directly to my iPad using the cameras WIFI. Since I installed IOS7 the connection no longer works. Anyone got any ideas. I have already installed the latest version of Panasonic's Image App (1.7.1)

I used to send photos from my Lumix Tz-40 camera directly to my iPad using the camera's WIFI. It was all working well until I installed IOS7.  The connection no longer works. The camera still keeps the iPad in its connection history. The camera's wifi network still appears when I select a WiFi network from the iPad but the Wifi status icon never appears on the iPad. So the connection is never made.
Anyone got any ideas. I have already installed the latest version of Panasonic's Image App (1.7.1)

    Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.
Thanks, let me know if the update helps,

  • TC 2 TB A1409 Wan internet connection no longer working but light is still green?

TC 2 TB A1409 Wan internet connection no longer working but light is still green?
My TC and modem have been up and running for at least the last 2 years without any issues.
It recently started acting up and I would have restart it as I had no internet access. All of a sudden My TC stopped connecting to internet regardless of restart. Utility shows i have no internet connection. I had all the correct green lights on my modem. I figured it might be the modem and connected directly to single ethernet port in modem to my mac book and it worked. When I reconnect modem to TC and restart Modem, TC still shows no internet connection in utility even though I'm getting green sync light on TC.
    Help Please.
I'm out of warranty, I have not reset to default yet, Im not sure if I will loose my TC back up data.
    please advice
    Remy

The Gen4 has some nasty faults.. mostly unrepairable...
If the WAN is gone it becomes pretty well useless at least in its current role as router.
You might still be able to plug it in by ethernet to a LAN port in bridge.
Do try a full factory reset.. always worth a go.
No files will be lost on the hard disk.
    The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
    Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Check the ethernet LED is going on.. both on the modem and the TC WAN port.
Do you have any applecare on a computer? If so it might cover the TC.. the rules are complicated but if the TC was bought within 2years before or after the computer it is covered up to max of 3years. You can still get coverage therefore if the TC is over 1 year but less than 2 years by buying applecare now on a computer or an Apple TV which is not too expensive. You can sell off the Apple TV without even opening it.. but use the applecare on it to get your TC replaced.
Only the very first Gen4 will be up to 3years.
Did you have a lightning storm or something btw?? Sometimes the modem can survive and pass the parcel to the TC which seems rather fragile.
There is also a trick to test..
You must have v5 airport utility.. any older Macs, or windows computer you can load on 5.6 utility .. even dual boot/parallels mac.
Go to the WAN setup.. and set the ethernet port to 10mbit half duplex.
Sometimes a damaged port can still manage the slowest speed.. by magic.

  • Remote Desktop Connection no longer working

Hi, I really hope someone can please help me.   I just switched from Comcast to FIOS and I can no longer remote desktop to work - so I'm not getting paid until I can get it fixed.
The way that I was doing it before was to connect with a regular Microsoft VPN (I have Windows XP Professional), and then I would use Remote Desktop Connection to log into the work PC.  Since I switched to FIOS it no longer works on either my laptop with wireless or my desktop which is connected to the router.
The VPN seems to be connecting OK; it says it is and it is sending/receiving a small bit of data.  But when I open the the RDC and try to connect using the PC name it says that the computer cannot be found.  I tried to connect to the IP address of it (after connecting through the VPN) and then it says it's found but cannot connect.
There is another location to which I log in using a Cisco VPN and then Remote Desktop - that still works just fine.  Nothing at work has changed; everyone else can log in with no problems, including everyone else with FIOS.
I honestly have no ideas at all; this is not my area of expertise to say the least.  If anyone could help I would REALLY appreciate it!
    Thanks much!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It is a new Actiontec router.
I finally got it resolved; one of my coworkers suggested checking to make sure that the IP addresses were not in conflict, and they were.  So, if anyone else has this problem, what happened was that the new router was assigning IP addresses to my PC's at home in the 192.168.1.x range, which was also the server at work's IP address.
So the really dumbed down version (for people like me!) is to open a command prompt on your desktop, run ipconfig /all, and then it will tell you your internal IP address.  (I was getting thrown off because the ROUTER'S IP address, which is the one you can look up online, was different).  If the PC's IP is almost the same as the server IP address, then you have to change the IP range on your router to something like 192.168.114.x.  There's directions if you google the router specs; I had to change it in three places on the router software; the router IP, the begin range and the end range.
Thank you, jumpin68ny, for starting to help me.  Hopefully now this may help someone else!

  • WRT300N V1.1 - Firmw v1.51.2 - Problems to get wireless connection after long idle time

    Hello,
    I have a WRT300N, v1.1 with latest firmware available (v1.51.2).
I've been experiencing a strange problem:
    1. After long idle time (router is on, no devices are using it wirelessly), no device can get a wireless connection;
    2. I have tried using different OSes (Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista, and Symbian OS);
    3. Wireline connection to a FE port works (if I plug a device using the cable, I can get an IP address and navigate to the internet).
    4. If power reset it (WRT300N), I can get wireless connections working again.
    Is this a known issue?
    Thanks, Gustavo

Well as you are able to go online from your Hardwired Computer, then i think you need to make some changes on the Wireless Part of your Router. Follow this settings on your Router, i think this might solve the problem.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 50 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

Does enybody some hint to resolve my problem? Thanks!

  • HP1102w wireless connection setup not working

Followed, re-followed and re-installed the drivers from the website.  Turned off firewalls.  All other wireless devices in the household work EXCEPT this one.   Blue light flashes for awhile, then shuts off.  Note: Wired connection via usb works, just not wireless.  This is for SAMSUNG laptop model NP47...series

    Hi @d78d ,
I see that you are experiencing issues setting up the printer over the wireless network. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Reset the printer first to clear out any previous network settings.
Turn the printer off, hold down the wireless button and cancel (x button) while turning the printer back on and don't release the two buttons until the printer stops making noise.
Print out a configuration report and make sure the SSID and IPv4 address are cleared.
    Printing a Configuration Page.
Power cycle the router, turn the printer off and the computer. Then once the router is back up again, turn the computer on and then the printer.
Make sure the computer is connected to the proper network and check your network encryption.
How to Find the WEP or WPA Key or Password for Your Wireless Network.
Here are some settings to check on the router:
If it is set to 5 GHZ network, you may need to change to 2.4 GHZ for the printer to work. (rename the 5ghz or shut it off)
The WPA key setting needs to be on AES to work correctly not TKIP.
If you use Mac address on the router, you will have to add the printer.
Make sure there are no spaces or special characters being used for the network name, the printer may not recognize it.
Connect the USB cable from the printer to the computer.
Now to configure the wireless, access the HP Software, select the P1102w, then select Wireless Configuration.
(To launch your applications, go to the Start Screen by pointing your mouse pointer to the left hand corner of the Windows 8 screen and click it) Run through the steps to configure the wireless.
    Then disconnect the USB cable.
    Test the printer.
If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Alpine connection no longer works

This is so wierd. We have a fourth generation iPod and we mostly keep it in the glovebox connected to our Alpine CDA-9856. It's worked perfectly and we love it. It just stopped working for no apparent reason! To troubleshoot it we did a couple of things. We took it inside and made sure it worked hooked up to headphones, which it does. We updated the itunes program and music from our computer onto it. Then we tried our nano with the Alpine and it worked. So there's nothing wrong with the Alpine device or connection.
Seems to me like both the Alpine and the iPod are both working. But no longer working together. The iPod just keeps flashing OK to Disconnect. Normally it displays that and alternates that display with the song info. Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks!
    Sheila

This solution of resetting the iPod worked perfectly for me with my 2 month old Alpine CDE 9881 that stopped working last week.
I feel bad now though because I only saw this solution after going to the dealer who sold me the Alpine unit and getting them to swap it with a new one, which we naturally found didn't solve the problem, because it was the iPod that was at fault, not the Alpine.

  • WRT300N wireless connection will not work when a wired computer is online line

I have an ATT DSL connection. I have no problems accessing the internet when the when my two wired Desktop PCs are online. However, when I try to access the wireless connection through my Laptop (when the Desktop PCs are on) I get a message that Windows could not "Connect to the Wireless Network." However, when I turn off the desktop PCs my Laptop searches for and is able to access the internet. Solutions anyone?

The operating system for the Laptop is XP. The IP address of the modem is 192.168.0.1. The IP address for router is 192.168.1.1

  • HP wireless TV connect no longer working after Win 8.1 "upgrade"

Help, my transmitter will not link to the box now that I have upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows8.1.
When first plugged in, the Trans light blinks 5 times fast, then no lights.  The receiver continually blinks slower and when the trans button is held, the lights both blink at the same speed, but will not link.
I removed and tried to "add new video source" but the "Please activate registration on transmitter unit" pops up and when attempting to push button, the two won't sync...
I looked for the HP trans in the devices but could not find it.  I check the HDMI card (disabled and enabled) to no avail...
Are there firmware patches for this device.  I need help ASAP as I need this functionality for work, but I had to have the upgrade for work as well...
I am getting a "tone" when the receiver fails from the laptop speakers

PROBLEM SOLVED ON ENVY 17 INTEL QUAD: Using Windows 8.1 with HP Wireless TV connect NOT linking issues.  I had the total 8.1 installed 4/12/2014 and even at this late a date, not all the wireless drivers were updated to their latest rev.  HP Support has a set of Intel driver updates and downloades; just select the ones you need, save and update.  With the update to all the associated applications, I believe there were 3 of them for my computer, I am now working well.  I am under warranty with my unit so I was fortunate to have, Likshima, a second level supervisor at HP who took the time to research this problem and find the solution, personally correct my issues!  Hope this helps because to my comprehension, an update is by far the safest solution!!!

  • Wireless connectivity no longer available after TWC adds digital phone service

    Hi All,
My problem is that my wireless Internet connectivity is no longer available after Time Warner Cable added digital phone service to my existing TV and broadband Internet service.
Prior to having the digital phone service added, my set up was a Motorola Surfboard cable modem connected to my Linksys WRT54G wireless router, with three computers (two Win XP desktops and one Win 7 laptop) wired to the Linksys router. I had wired Internet connectivity on all three computers. Importantly, I could also access the Internet wirelessly from the laptop instead of using a wire.
AFTER having the digital phone service added, my set up is the same except that now an Arris Touchstone Telephony Gateway (TG862G) has replaced the Motorola Surfboard cable modem. I still have wired Internet connectivity on all three computers. However, now I cannot access the Internet wirelessly from the laptop. This is a real problem in that often others in the house need access to the wireless network as well.
I should also mention that (from a wired connection) I cannot access the Linksys router any longer via 192.168.1.1. Now, the Linksys router seems to be "invisible," almost as though it were a pass-through device. I can access the Arris gateway at 192.168.0.1 (for what it's worth), but not the Linksys router.
Also, not sure this is important, but some time ago (when my wireless was working) I had configured the Linksys router so that it wouldn't broadcast the SSID. Through the Win 7 "Network and Sharing Center" I have tried to "manually connect" to my (hidden) wireless network. The message indicates that my hidden network already exists, but I still can't connect to it.
I've seen a few potential remedies involving power cycling the gateway and modem in certain sequences, setting the gateway's NAT mode to Bridged, etc., but nothing has worked so far. Time Warner Cable's only advice is for me to purchase (yet) another service so that the gateway can provide the wireless access, but I since my Linksys router worked before I'd rather stick with that method (and avoid yet another charge).
I would be very grateful for any help you could provide for this problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Don't hide your SSIDs
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/28653/debunking-myths-is-hiding-your-wireless-ssid-really-more-secure...
    2. I assume the Arris is also a wireless router. Use inSSIDer to find the best non-overlapping, non-interfering wireless channels. Change the wireless channels on both the WRT54G and Arris if necessary.
