  • Crystal Server 2013: How to troubleshoot "Can not create temp file---- Error code:-2147215357"

We have a Java7 web app, which generate PDF report by calling Crystal Server 2013 SP4.
The app is being deployed on many different servers. We sometimes got the error below when generating report:
com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportSDKException: Can not create temp file---- Error code:-2147215357 [CRSDK00000615] Error code name:internal

    at com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.PrintOutputController.export(PrintOutputController.java:113)
Problem is, this seems to be  a pretty generic exception. It could be caused by many different reasons.
e.g. network connection problem, wrong DB login, wrong folder path, lack of folder access right, etc.
Each time we could only guess what's wrong.
We are running into it again, and this time everything seems correctly configured so far.
We wonder if there are more info we can get to troubleshoot? For example, any log file of Crystal Server we should look into? Or does Crystal Server has debug mode which prints more details to tell us what goes wrong?

    Hi Henry,
I believe you are using RAS SDKs to export the reports to PDF.
Apply trace on RAS server and check what you find in RAS logs.
Check whether you can see timeout error is RAS logs. Usually if connection is lost and the RAS server no more have the session to write to the temp directory, we do see these errors.
Also, does the account that runs RAS have permissions to create a file in RAS's default temp directory? Are you getting any out of memory or out of disk space exceptions on App server or RAS, tracing RAS server is the way to move forward.
    Thanks,

    Yes

How to configure tracing, and where are RAS logs? Is it configured in CMC --> Servers --> Crystal Report Services?

    Pretty sure yes.

    Not on App server.
For RAS, that's the problem, I am not sure where to look.......

    Hello,
While exporting Export reporting from BI4 getting exception

I tried following solution according to the all forums but still issue exist.
Done changes mention in KB article In <Installation-dir-of-BO>\Common\4.0\java\CRConfig.XML we have to increase the JAVA heap MIN and Max size

Increase the value in the ReportApplicationServer Services in the CMC for "Number of database records to read when previewing or refreshing a report". The value -1 is for unlimited records but not recommended for performance.
Check for temporary read write permission on server
Using SDK library from C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP Business Objects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\java\lib
Can you please let me know is there anything missing.

    Hi,
We face the same problem with some BI4 reports.
The same report works well with the "Crystal Reports Viewers API", as used in Infoview, but not with the "Report Application Server (RAS) API".
This error appears after some time working on a report. If we reproduce the same report, but from zero, no problem.
    Hope it can help.

  • Lost document on my new MAC because I accidentally saved on another account that I had no permission to save to..now I don't know where the doc is but I just know its somewhere on the computer..maybe the temp files or something?!sos! please help me!!

I saved a document, while logged in as a Guest, to another user account [it was set up for some reason to save like that (I guess the person who used computer last did that) and I didn't check before "saving"] on accident. Of course I didn't have permission to save on the other user's account but I was in a rush and so I figured everything was fine but later I found that there was a message warning me saying it did not save because it couldn't save because I had no permission to save on that account and gave me the option to duplicate or cancel.. I wasn't paying attention so I can't remember which button I hit but clearly it wasn't "duplicate"
I took hours perfecting this document and now I can't find it.. anywhere!
Where do these types of things go when this happens.. I know it's somewhere on the computer but where?? SOS I need the doc and I'm hoping I can find it
I guess it's the same as someone who accidnetly hits "don't save"... question still stands.. please anyone help me!!!
I'm trying to use Disk Drill but I only found things from November and it seems like it only shows files that have been physically/manually deleted..and my TIME MACHINE WAS NOT SET UP..because we recently got this MAC computer and had no clue what it was
maybe its in some temp files somewhere..where do not saved documents go.. i know that it is probably writable but I know that is probably still exists
ANYONE WITH INFO PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!

    tis true
I know, I always do that but I was in a rush to get somewhere and I was relying on my thousand dollar Mac to do some kind of recovery or something. I know Microsoft always keeps temporary files (I think Mac does too, part of me asking here in this forum was for someone to tell me where I can find those files) and when you go to open Office Works then it gives you the option of opening the last recent documents, saved or not saved.
I usually copy paste into my emial just in case something goes wrong with the created document but I just didn't have the time to login and do all that My loss, you live and you learn, BUT still if ANYONE got any info on this, PLEASE DO CHIME IN *keeping the hope alive*

  • Confuse between temp file error and perment file error

during the weekend, i usually maintain our database and this weekend i end up with strange situation,
i lunched my scripts to reorginize datafiles, however the scripts is crash all the time due to weird message which is in my opinion is misleading ora message.
    this is the situaion:
i am using this scripts to tell me if my datafiles are full or not
    1 L_INDEX 24 107.12109375 103.74609375 3.375 0 96.8493600262553 3.15063997374467

as you can see, the free space on the l_index tablespace is now 3G and need to reogrinze to free space, however when we run our scripts to free spaces by moving objects to tools tablespace and then return them back,
    I recieve this message:
ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by .......
to solve this error is adding new temp files, however we have 5 temps file and there were pantly of space there and also i add 2 new files with size 1g and maxsize is 32G, still i am receving this error and my scripts crash when i try to rebuild the index,
the workaround was is adding new datafile to l_index and try again to rebuild the index and it works,
so i am wondering if the problem was on the datafiles, why i recieved error about temp, i waste some time thinking that my problem was with temp, however the real problem came from l_index tablespace.
oracle verison is 10.1.0.4 and os is windows
    Thanks

ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by Temporary tablespace is also used when re-creating or creating indexes in database.
A temp segment is created the moment create or re-build indexes command is issued and will be held until the index is being created completely. If either of the tablespace have insufficient space, you might get the error ORA-1652 or ORA 1654.
You should be looking at the tablespace name for adding space instead of looking temp segment.

My iMac just crashed, and I had some documents open in Pages that were unsaved. Is there a temporary file or backup file that I can access as on a PC? (I have just looked in Timemachine which I had operating, but it did not seem to have any temp files in it at all - not sure what it would be useful for then).
    Any suggestions?

Question asked and answered several times.
If you didn't save, nothing is recoverable.
iWork apps don't create temp files so, as far as you on't save something, Time Machine can't archive it.

  • Recovering data from Temp file following transfer failure

    Hey everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about recovering Lightroom data from temp files.
Last month I made a serious, serious error while transferring my files in Lightroom. I was off-loading a month's worth of material off of one hard drive onto another (in a rush to catch a flight), and used Lightroom's "Move" tool to do so. Problem was, they were both portable harddrives and one of them periodically lost power during the transfer. The result was devastating: the vast majority of the images and previews were lost to the black abyss. I did not have a backup of the RAWs or videos. It was... very bad.
However, I noticed that I could still preview the images in Lightroom. Somewhere, some of the previews still existed in a temp folder or in RAM.
I found two files called Photoshop Temp in my Windows Temp folder and backed them up to my drive. Together they're over 6 gigabytes and do not respond to opening in Photoshop, nor Lightroom.
Is there any way to recover some of the data from these caches?
    Thanks so much!

    Hi,
Is your cube contains 0customer field?? If there is no use of it then remove from the cube so that it gets eliminated from update rules too. If the data type of that object is Char, then remove the alpha routine property in the infoobject level.
Check the file type in the infopackage also, whether it is checked as CSV or not.
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,
    Neha.

  • My iTunes library data file has been renamed temp file.tmp

Can I just rename it iTunes Library? It is a functioning iTunes Database file and it works perfectly well - it is just weird!
    I have iTunes 7.6.2 (9).
My library resides on my external hard drive.
In my iTunes folder on that drive, I also find Temp file.tmp.xml and iTunes Library.xml.
I believe this got screwed up on May 31st (that is the last modified date on iTunes Library.xml) when I was showing a slide show in iPhoto which used music from my iTunes library. At one point I disconnected the external drive to use the USB cable to upload photos to iPhoto from another camera.
I have read through a lot of the discussion topics about library issues and temp files, but cannot find anything that deals with this issue to answer my question.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

    Never mind.
I copied it and renamed it and all is well.

  • Need help -To Restrict Huge temp file, which grows around 3 GB in OBIEE 11g

    Hi Team,
I am working on OBIEE 11.1.1.5 version for a client specific BI application. we have an issue concerning massive space consumption in OBIEE 11g installed linux environment whenever trying to run some detail level drill down reports. While investigating, we found that whenever a user runs the drill down report a temp file named nQS_xxxx_x_xxxxxx.TMP is created and keep's growing in size under the below given folder structure,
    *<OBIEE_HOME>/instances/instance1/tmp/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obips1/obis_temp/*
The size of this temp file grows huge as much as around 3 GB and gets erased automatically when the drill down report output is displayed in UI. Hence when multiple users simultaneously try to access these sort of drill down reports the environment runs out of space.
    Regarding the drill down reports:
    * The drill down report has around 55 columns which is configured to display only 25 rows in the screen and allows the user to download the whole data as Excel output.
    * The complete rows being fetched in query ranges from 1000 to even above 100k rows. Based on the rows fetched, the temp file size keeps growing. ie., If the rows being fetched from the query is around 4000 a temp file of around 60 MB is created and gets erased when the report output is generated in screen (Similarly, for around 100k rows, the temp file size grows up to 3 GB before it gets deleted automatically).
    * The report output has only one table view along side Title & Filters view. (No Pivot table view, is being used to generate this report.)
    * The cache settings for BI Server & BI Presentation services cache are not configured or not enabled.
    My doubts or Questions:
    * Is there any way to control or configure this temp file generation in OBIEE 11g?
    * Why the growing temp file automatically gets deleted immediately after the report output generation in screen. Is there any default server specific settings governing this behaviour?
    * As per certain OBIEE article reference for OBIEE 10g, I learnt that for large pivot table based reports the temp file generation is quite normal because of huge in-memory calculations involved . However we have used only Table view in output but still creates huge temp files. Is this behaviour normal in OBIEE 11g. If not, Can any one Please suggest of any specific settings to be considered to avoid generating these huge files or atleast generate a compressed temp file.
    * Any other work around solution available for generating a report of this type without the generation of temp files in the environment?
Any help/suggestions/pointers or document reference on this regard will be much appreciated. Please advice
    Thanks & Regards,
    Guhan

    Hello Guhan,
The temp files are used to prepare the final result set for OBI presentation server processing, so as long as long you dataset is big the tmp files will be also big and you can only avoid this by reducing your dataset by for example filtering your report.
You can also control the size of your temp files by reducing the usage of the BI server.I mean by this if you are using any functions like for example sorting that can be handled by your database so just push to the DB.
Once the report finished the BI server removes automatically the tmp files because it's not necessary anymore.you can see it as a file that is used for internal calculations once it's done the server gets rid of it.
    Hope this helps

Thanks, but with iTunes closed, I get this when I try to delete.

  • The 2 year old fix for changing temp files is no longer valid, I need to change the temp file location in the latest firefox.

In 3.6.3 I'm unable to find the parent cache to change where the temp files are located. I have an SSD drive, and I need to get the temp file off, and onto my platter drive. I have read the previous fix of about:config and changing the parent cache location, but it no longer seems to be there. I'm unable to locate anything relating to my SSD drive location in about:config.
    == User Agent ==
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.70 Safari/533.4

Unfortunately, it appears that what I wrote about not being able to find the location IN about:config of the cache to change it from my C: drive to a different location, was mildly misunderstood that I didn't know how to get into about:config.
The location of browser.cache.disk.parent_directory does not currently exist in 3.6.3. I'm assuming it's under a different location. Also using the simple string of "cache" lists several options, but none of them appear to be where firefox is currently dumping the temp files onto my C:
I merely need to know how to switch the temp file location from 1 drive, to another. Not downloads, the temp file.
