Template flow editor in NWAS 7.01

Hi!
I am a newbie in ITS and I am trying to follow the [Web Application Builder Tutorial|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/0080ce90-0201-0010-f78c-c73cb4b26406] to create my first demo. The tutorial suggests usage of flow logic with HTML template by using the menu command Edit -> Create flow logic from template editor in SE80. However, I can't find this command nor any similar. I can't find any mention of flow logic whatsoever in template editor that I use.
I suspect that this might be due to version difference. All the documentation that I found was made on 4.6C, while I am on NWAS 7.01.
Could anyone, please, help?
Thanks!
KR,
Igor

Hi Igor,
the ITS programming model FLOW LOGIC is no longer supported since release 6.40. You can't use it with NW 7.01

Klaus

  • Struts Page Flow Editor Unusably Slow

I find the Struts page flow editor unusably slow.
    Opening a diagram takes ~ 30 s
Dropping something from the component palette takes 10s
Just selecting something takes 1-2 seconds.
Moving objects on the diagram takes so long it looks as if nothing is happening so you end up trying to move things twice.
All the diagrammers are slow, but this one is appalling.

I have plenty of RAM free

    Not many.

  • Explaination of Work flow editor file (.task)

    hi friends,
I am trying to implement the human activity in bpel..
can any one please explain the significance of this file (.task) .
what is the meaning of various parameters, settings and policies in this file.
please let me know if there is any related document which I can go through....
    regards
    Sai

the .task file is essential. It describes the meaning of the tasks, what will be approved/rejected, the addition parameters used, to which person the task is send etc.
You can read more information on Workflow in the Developer Guide of BPEL. See http://orasoa.blogspot.com/2007/05/newbie-getting-started-with-oracle-soa.html for a list of links to the documentation of WOrkflow

  • Experts VS Process Flows on OWB 10g Release 2 (Paris)

I was looking at the the new features list for OWB 10g Release 2 (Paris), and I notices the new feature called Experts. Does anyone have any insight into when an Expert would be used instead of a Process Flow? It doesn't look like Process Flows are going away, so I was trying to get a grasp of the use for Experts.
    From Here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/htdocs/owb10gr2%20new%20features.htm
Experts. Experts are solutions that enable advanced users to design solutions that simplify routine or complex tasks that end users perform in Warehouse Builder. You can design these solutions in the Expert Editor which resembles the Process Flow Editor and shares many of the same commands and navigational tools.

    Hi,
Just to start with the Experts capabilities, they can be used for designing schema objects.......I tried with an expert for sampling the source files, creating External Tables on top of it....validating and deploying..........itz very interesting to work with.........I am unable to see the practical use of this for end users.....
where as we all know, the PF can only be for executing the deployed objects.....

  • URGENT: Oracle Workflow Error: API-10020 on Creation of OWB Process Flows

I am trying to use Oracle Workflow to create Process Flows, in order to link together various mappings and components in Oracle Warehouse Builder. However, in the process flow editor window when I attempt to drag an object such as a mapping onto the editor panel, I get an error message stating the below:
API-10020: Unable to determine if the map is a PLSQL or SQLLDR map, please correct the map or choose another map.
All my maps are in PLSQL, and the language setting is set to this. I have tried modifying the langauge settings to see if it makes a difference but with no luck. My colleague believes this is a known bug in Oracle Workflow and there is a patch available to correct it.
Can anyone help with this query please? Thank you for your time.

In some versions of OWB (10.1, 10.2) The mapping property will display PL/SQL, but will actually be set to NULL in the repository (which will cause PL/SQL to be displayed as default).
The fix is easy enough: in the developer navigator, right-click on the mapping and go to configure and set the generation language first to something other then PL/SQL (you should get an error) and then place it back to PL/SQL. This should force the GUI to reset the parameter.
    Alternatively, use OMB*Plus:
OMBALTER MAPPING 'MAPPINGNAME' SET PROPERTIES \
    (GENERATION_LANGUAGE) VALUES ('PLSQL');
    Good Luck,
    Robbert

  • Mapping editor - buttons not accessable

    Hi,
Though I have all roles for XI buttons such as "Map Selected Fields and Substructures if Names Are Identical", "Clear Mapping", "Data Flow Editor" etc. is not accessible.
I have tried clearing the Java Web Start Cache, different versions of the Java Runtime etc. but with no effect. I have to add that I'm on Vista Ultimate.
Have anyone had similar problems or have an solution to the problem ?
    Thanks
    Andre

    Hi Andre,
this happens when you have a higher java webstart version.
It is recommended to have a minimum of JRE 1.4.2 or higher. But it’s better not to have JRE 1.5 and above.
You will have uninstall if you have higher version also installed. and make the settings in the webstart not to update automatically.

    Hi All,
OWB Config Details is as follows:
Oracle 9i Warehouse Builder Client: 9.2.0.2.8
Oracle 9i Warehouse Builder Repository: 9.2.0.2.0
1> Following Warning is displayed when Process Flow is validated in Process Editor in OWB.

    START->EXT_SHELL_SCRIPT->M_STG_GRADE_OF_SERVICE->EMAIL_ERROR->UPDATE_MAP_PROCESS_ERROR->
2> A mapping is developed in OWB with some default configuration parameters e.g. In a mapping involves Source Text File as Source and Staging Table as Target.
Readsize and Bindsize config parameters are set to 5000 respectively. I included the same mapping in process flow as mapping. The above mentioned Config Parameters are modified to 5242880. I committed the changes & synchornized in the process flow editor. I was expecting the modified config parameter will be displayed in the process flow editor. However I found that it still displays old config parameters and not modified config parameters. Is this expected or Did i miss some steps ?

Re your first question, you are probably hitting a bug (3035080) that makes OWB generate false warnings. Please ignore the warnings and try to deploy and run the process flow.
As for your second question - I cannot reproduce this on 9.2.0.2.8. The configuration properties are updated corectly in the SQLLOADER map and I get the same values in the process flow. By the way, why are you not using external tables instead of the SQLLoader maps?

  • NWA is not opening in PI 7.1 from Configuration & Monitoring tab

    Hi All,
When i try opening NWA from Configuration & Monitoring tab, it is not giving me proper results as i do from /nwa in generic scenario. I'm getting message as "No data available to the system selector".
    I'm using PI 7.1.
Do i need to configure anything?

    Prateek,
As per your information, i have started applying note # 1160261 & while it's application, stuck up for 2nd step-"Note 1226536 - WSIL service gives wrong endpointURL", basically here i would like to know, should i be first doing Template installation step -" Configure NWA for Double Stack System"?
Please any one of you have applied all the steps in Configuration wizard with respect to NWA & NWAPI, then please help me with any of it's documents.

  • Find out type of activity in process flow

I am currently working on generating process flows. I place a bunch of mappings or sub process flows (sometimes more than 20) in a process flow. Then I connect them basically to indicate the order in which they have to be processed.
Next I want to generate the succes, warning and error transitions. I can easily list the activities in the process flow using
    OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'SOME_FLOW' GET ACTIVITIES
likewise I can easily retrieve the transitions.
My main problem now is that I cannot find where to start.
I know a process flow is created default with a START1 activity but the name can be changed, so that is not a fool proof option. I have been looking for something like
    OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'SOME_FLOW' ACTIVITY 'START1' GET PROPERTIES (ACTIVITY_TYPE)
But the property apparently does not exist.
    If I do
    OMBDESCRIBE CLASS_DEFINITION 'PROCESS_FLOW' GET CHILD_TYPES
I see a START_ACTIVITY child type is listed. Now I am looking for a way to connect the child type to the activity
    Anybody ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kind regards,
    Eric.

    Thanks Oleg,
After posting the question on the forum I remembered I had made lists of activities for various activity types, in my case MAPPINGS and SUBPROCESSES. So I tried the same for START activities, just like you apparently have done. And with the same conclusion; there is not a complete list of activity types you can use.
I also noticed there is no START activity in the Palette of the Process Flow editor. And that you cannot delete a start activity (API-10011 You cannot delete this type of activity). Apparently a start activity is a special case of activity. And I think I will treat it this way. I will assume no one in his right mind will rename this activity from it's default 'START1' name and start my exploration of the flow in the process there.
Thanks again for confirming my suspicions.
In the process of finding out activity types that are supported I made a list (OWB 10.2.0.3):
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET AND ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET ASSIGN ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET DATA_AUDITOR ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET EMAIL ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET END_ERROR ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET END_LOOP ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET END_SUCCESS ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET END_WARNING ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET FILE_EXISTS ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET FOR_LOOP ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET FORK ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET FTP ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET MANUAL ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET MAPPING ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET NOTIFICATION ACTIVITIES

OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET USER_DEFINED ACTIVITIES
OMBRETRIEVE PROCESS_FLOW 'EERSTE' GET WAIT ACTIVITIES

  • What do you use to edit templates?

I am new to HTML DB and I was wondering what you use to edit the templates to make the site look as you wish. I find the textboxes in HTML DB very annoying, especially since the page can scroll but the boxes too.
And there doesn't seem to be an easy way to preview what you made, so I was wondering if you use different tools to create and edit the templates.

    Hello,
Any texteditor can be used to edit HTML DB templates. Editors I know people are using range fro vi to Dreamweaver. If your a little lite on HTML or CSS knowledge a visual editor like Dreamweaver would probably give you a good start. You can play with your look and feel with static pages then cut up the resulting code to make your templates.
I personally use htmlkit http://www.chami.com/html-kit/ . It's not a visual editor but it's free and it has a bunch of features for coding html , css and js and even plsql.
as for your scrolling issue try adding this into the textarea's "HTML Form Element Attributes"
    style="overflow:hidden;overflow-x : hidden;overflow-y : hidden;overflow : -moz-scrollbars-none;" wrap="soft"
That suppress the scrollbars in some cases (works much better in IE than Firefox) but a textarea will inherently put scrollbars in when you add more text in than it can hold horizontally or vertically.

  • Function in a Process Flow

    Hi all,
I have a function which returns a value either 1 or 0. I want to get the output of the function and check if the function returns 1 then the process flow should be successful else it should error out.
I have created a simple process flow, which has start, function, success and error. From the function to success transtion i have given an complex condition where value =1 and the other transtion should be kept empty. But it didnt work.
Any ideas how exactly we can use a function in a process flow.
    Thanks in advance

There is another way of achiving it....
Go to process flow -> Configure and click on the function operator.
Under Execution Settings, select the option Use Return as Status
This setting governs the behavior for activities that return NUMBER in their output. These activities include the FTP, User Defined, and Transform activities. When you select Use Return as Status, the Process Flow Editor assigns the outgoing transition conditions based on the following numerical return values for the activity:
    1 = Success Transition
    2 = Warning Transition
    3 = Error Transition
You might have your function return 1 for success and 3 for error and the transition would take them as status code.
    Thanks,
    Suchit
