  • Templates for information gathering

    Hello experts
How best can i gather information on requirements for a Workflow, before i start the actual design!
    Thank you in advance

I don't have a template, just some advice.
    1) Check what SAP standard offers.
    2) Talk with process experts - trying to steer towards standard if that fits fairly well with what the process experts had in mind.
    3) Talk some more with some other people (users, other process people).
    4) Propose a solution.
    5) If solution is accepted you are done and can start technical design, if it is not accepted you have to go back to step 2.
I am sure there is more others can contribute with. Where I have seen templates used they usually use the same template for workflows as for reports. Not a very good idea in my opinion. Therefore I don't believe much in templates, but I guess there are some questions you ideally should ask for the overall process as well as for each step:
    - what (should be done: tasks, object types&methods)
    - how (should the user interface be, should it be possible to perform the task outside WF)
    - who (should do it: possible agents, rules)
    - when (should it be done: sequence, deadlines)
    - errors (how should they be handled)

  • SAP PP Requirement gathering document

    Hello Expert,
Can any one help me to find the questionnaire for requirement gathering activity.
    Specific to SAP PP.
    - Mayur

    Mayur,
Please see below basic questions from requirement gathering point of view.
Whether the Production process is Made-to-Order or Made-to-Stock and are there certain products manufactured Make to order and certain products manufacture made to stock.
How their planning has been setup currently for each of the component that is part of BOM.
How many manufacturing locations they have currently and how they are handling Raw Material Staging to the shop floor for Production.
Components to be back flushed or they want to have separate goods issues for the components.
How many operations they have for each of the product they manufacture.
What are the activities they are using for product costing and where they have to be considered
Is there any other manufacturing process other than regular production?
How they are handling rework and scrap process currently.
In how many stages they want Quality inspection to be activated and how it has to be mapped(like in process, final inspection etc)

  • Creating a template in Pages is straight-forward as answered here previously. Is there and equivalent for iBooks Author which can start with a blank page and build up the template as required? or can one only adapt a ready made template?

Creating a template in Pages is straight-forward as answered here previously. Is there an equivalent for iBooks Author which can start with a blank page and build up the template as required? or can one only adapt a ready made template? This has proved unsatisfactory to me so far. Lines are left in etc.

There are two basic menus for fonts - one from the main menu bar and one from the toolbar. You can also bring up the font manage dialog.
I don't recommend trying to hard to force an otherwise foreign font, as it inevitably needs to be usable/supported on iOS as well, and that can get tricky w/3rd party fonts, as an example, even with the expanded font support in the latest iBA.
If you need to discuss fonts more, I suggest starting a new thread....preferably with a slightly more brief title, thanks.

  • Process/templates for gathering information about existing BI functinality

Hi everyone - Excuse me for posting this question to the thread, it is more of a bus analysis question. I need to document an existing BI / reporting system and identify:
    1. Usage of the reports
    2. Business units using it
    3. Can the reports be consolidated
    4. Sources being used
    5. Business rules being applied
    6. Can these reports be deleted
Can you suggest a process or a set to templates, if you have participated in similar initiatives ?
    Much appreciated,
    Iliya

Thanks, this helps with the usage aspect, looking into it, but my question had more to do with a business analysis process or document templates for gathering information, documenting sources, rules, etc.I would think this goes a bit too far from their knowledge for most people in this forum and you might be better going to BA specialized forums or searching in Google. I could give some sample docs but we don't have templates where I work so it will take me ages to go through them to remove any confidential or sensitive data.

  • Requirements Gathering for a P2V project

Does anyone have an example of the kinds of requirements that need to be gathered from a client in preparation for a large scale P2V migration during the requirements gathering phase?  For example,
R101:  The customer would like to virtualize all physical servers that have less than 50% average CPU utilization
R102:  The customer would like to virtualize all physical servers that are currently functioning as web servers
What are some other potential requirements that pertain to a P2V migration plan?

Thanks for your reply.  Capacity Planner can gather only technical data from the systems, but not requirements from the people themselves.

  • Student Attributes for Requirement Profile Templates

    Hello,
I am working on setting up Admission audits.  And, I am looking at using the Student Attributes in the Requirement Profile Template.  But, I am having problems configuring the parameter values for the Student Attributes.  I can get the parameter values to work when using a SAP defined table such as T7PIQADMCATEG, but when I use one of our custom tables the parameter values will not populate.  What do I need to do to get a custom table to work with the Student Attributes parameter values?
    Thanks,
    Ezra.

    Rob,
I understand how to use the BAdI to assign a requirement profile based on the student attributes.  My question is more basic.  I am having trouble with the defining of the student attributes, IMG Path: \Student Lifecycle Management\Processes in Student Lifecycle Management\Audits\Requirement Profile Templates\Define Student Attributes for Requirement Profile Templates. This IMG items requires defining the Attribute and a Parameter.   I can't get the Parameter to use a Z-table.  The Parameter is defined in the IMG Path: \Student Lifecycle Management\Processes in Student Lifecycle Management\Audits\Basic Settings\Define Parameters for Audit Types.  The Parameter requires a Structure name and Component name.  When I put in a Z-table for these items, the drop-down for the Parameter Value will not be populated for the Stdt Attribute I defined with the Z-table in transaction PIQAUDTMPL_M.
    Thanks for the help,
    Ezra.

Can you please provide any pointer to SAP provided technical specification templates for WebDynpro development.

    Hi Sudhir
Does that mean you got the documents you were looking for?
I too am looking for sample documents and/or templates for Technical Specification for WebDynpro (Java) Application but was not able to find any.
If you have them will you please forward them to me?
If you can share a tech spec done for a real project (or even a sample one) along with any such documents, I'd much appreciate it as I'm new to the technology. I still have to find my way around these..... :o)

    Hi Rao,
The ASAP Methodology has five phases:
    1. Project Preparation – project formally initiated and planning well under way.
    2. Business Blueprint – project team gathers requirements and conducts conceptual design of the solution.
    3. Realization – system solution is built and integration tested, end users trained
    4. Final Preparation – final check before cut over to new system solution
    5. Go Live & Support – solution confirmation, on-going support in place and project closing

  • How to use one WAD template for all the available queries

    Hi,
I have created a WAD template... Now we have close to 25 queries which will use that template for displaying their output at Portal...
Is there any way that i don`t have to create multiple copies of my WAD template...
I.e. all queries would call that same template through portal...

    Hi,
The Bex report uses the Standard Template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN while it is executed.
So if your sure that the look and feel of all the Reports is going to remain same, you don't need to even attach all these Queries to Templates in WAD.
When you execute the BEx query, it would pick up the standard template and run it in portal.
But if you want to customize the Report Template:
    1) You can change this standard template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN  and customize it according to ur requrement in WAD.
    2) Or you can create a copy of this standard template and change it as required. Then change the template in spro (transaction RSCUSTV27) to point to this Z template.
Let me know if you need more details.

  • How to use myself JSP template for my projects

I am using JDev 10. .I realized the default templates of JSP in JDev don't match with my projects so I want to create my own template for JSP Pages. Someone can tell me where I can find the tutorials, examples(demo).

  • Any tips at this Reporting requirement gathering stage?

    Hello Experts,
I have 10 different sources of data which will mostly come to me in flat files.
Some of the data coming to me for <b>UPDATE</b> will be
    1. daily,           (3 of the sources)
    2. weekly,       (2 of the sources)
    3. monthly      (2 of the sources)
    4. quarterly.   (2 of the sources)
Some of the reporting requirements are <b>(GENERATE REPORTS)</b>:
    a) As needed i.e. on demand by managers
    b) Monthly
    c) Quarterly
I am still in the report requirement gathering phase and I would like some hints here:
Q1. What are the Dos and Don’ts?
Q2. Does it matter whether the various sources are loaded into Cubes or ODSes? Which is the better choices and for what reasons?
Q3. Any special guide on the frequency of Updates?
Q4. Can the data elements from the 10 sources be all placed in say, 2 or 3 dimensions and within a single Cube?  Any advantages of this?
Q5. Can each of the data elements from the 10 sources be placed in say, 10 different ODSes? Any advantages of this?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Amanda,
Actually, I’d split the process into those stages:
    1.     gathering report forms that users want to have and a frequency of report generation.
    2.     collection information on available sources of data
    3.     analysis: do the sources will provide all data for forms required – simultaneously the list of reports that would be possible to create is made. Here you can take into account not only availability of resources, but also budget/time/work force limitation. It’ll determine the scope of implementation.
    4.     Conceptual model (with parallel excersises in BW).
    •     If some reports (and data in them) are completely different, don’t having common information, then consider creating separate data providers.
    •     If some reports (and data in them) have something in common, then consider creating separate data providers with a multiprovider on them.
    •     If all data are linked to some key(s) (for example a document number), then consider creating a single cube
    •     Determine time granularity (are your weekly, monthly and quarterly data may be derived from the daily data? If yes, maybe these data (except daily) are redundant. If not, then probably these data supply some additional information to daily? – consider merging this additional info into daily cube (or probably through separate ODS or cubes).
So, it’s a somewhat an answer to Q2 and Q5.
Q3. You may load data just before (say a several days) the reports generation.
Q4. See above about single cube. Additionally, the rule of thumb is to have more little dimensions than few huge dimensions. Consider spreading out your chars into different dimensions. If you’ll be able to have all data in a single cube, it would give you an enormous flexibility in building reports (especially, not mandatory ones, but ad-hoc reports on demand).
Also you can visit www.saptips.com site. I downloaded “Tips on Implementing a BW-Based Management Reporting Solution (and Getting Your Users to Use It!)” but cannot find it in inet. If you want I can send it to you along with “SAP BW projects: dos and donts” (ppt-demo and transcript).
    Best regards,
    Eugene
