Temporarily Disable Signatures in Mail App?

In the Mail app, I have only one account, bhabecker. I have a bazillion signatures that randomly rotate through. I have a Christmas set, and a rest-of-the-year set. Previously (and I don't know when this stopped being the case), I would delete all the siggies out of my bhabecker account and replace them with the Christmas ones that were living in All Signatures. After the holidays, I would delete the Christmas ones from bhabecker and re-add the regular ones from the All Signatures "account". Now, if I delete a siggy in my bhabecker account, it also deletes in All Signatures. I am not able to temporarily inactivate a signature now. It's kind of lame. Is this something I can fix?

In Mail Preferences/Signatures, select this account, and then in the Choose Signature box, select None.

  • Disabling Javascript in Mail.app

Does anyone know if it's possible to disable embedded javascript in mail messages? There seems to be a good amount of spam getting through lately that uses javascript to force images to load automatically, and I'm a bit uneasy about that!

I think you want to disable HTML...check that your Mail preferences are set to protect your computer by not displaying remote images.

  • Import Signatures into Mail.app

I'm trying to find out if there is a way to import signatures from a web based account such as yahoo or something similar. I have the POP setup already and the email is working fine but it would nice to be able to import signatures b/c the content of the signature changes quite often. Any help would be amazing.

I've never heard of anything at all that would do this. you can do it by hand but there is nothing that will automate this.

Is it possible to import a picture to signature?
I want to make a signature in Mail.app with a picture of our company.
Like the way MS Outlook can.
Could you help me with that?

    You sure can.
Here are two ways to do this, including an illustrated walk-through from Skype which is easy to follow.

  • OSX Lion Mail.app bug in signatures containing a URL

This is highly reproducable: try adding an image followed by text in a signature in Mail.app. Now select the image and add a url (CMD+K) e.g. to your company website. So far this should look the way you expect. Now click on some other preference, so Mail saves the signature. I have multiple signatures, so I just click any other signature. Click back on the signature you have just created, and notice how all text that came after the image now is underlined.
    Why?
There's a bug in the way Mail saves the webarchive file for the signature (~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Signatures/<blabla>.webarchive. When you open this file, you will find a bunch of binary bla, followed by invalid (see missing quotes in attributes below) HTML, that will contain your image similar to this:
    <a href="http://www.mywebsite.com/">
    <SPAN class="Apple-string-attachment"><OBJECT height=53 width=157 type=application/x-apple-msg-attachment data="cid:[email protected]"></OBJECT></SPAN>
Don't ask me why Mail capitalizes just these tags and not any other tags, but the most important bit is that Mail forgets to add the closing tag </a>, so now everything trailing the image is linked too.
I cannot reproduce this in Safari, so apparently Mail and Safari do not share code here. I have tried what happens when copy/paste a valid rendered HTML file with the appropriate signature text from Safari into Mail, but the result is the same.

also via applescript same beahviour, composing a message and including an attachment after setting the signature make underlined all the text after the first email adress inside the signature.

  • Make Mail app stop sending calendar notifications?

Is there a way to completely disable OS X Mail.app sending Calendar notifications? I use Postbox for mail and I'd like to use Calendar. But with  Apple Mail firing up everytime to send notications, I might have to just use the browser for my calendar (I use google apps).
    Thanks.

First, make sure you have an outgoing mail account corresponding to each of your incoming mail accounts. The user names must match. Then make sure the right outgoing account is selected when you send. You can change the default selection in

  • How can I disable my MobileMe account as sender in the iOS Mail app?

Ever since I logged on to iCloud in OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.0, 10.8.1), I've noticed that in Gmail (using the Mail app for iOS), on my iPhone running iOS 5.1.1, the sender appears to be my MobileMe account (an account I had to use a while back when I first got started using iCloud, but haven't actually used).
Besides flooding my iCloud account mail information with sent mail and the fact that I don't want people associating my email address with the wrong address, it's very annoying that when I choose my regular Gmail address as the sender mail, the next time I send an email, the MobileMe address is the default address yet again.
The problem persists even though I have:
Disabled the iCloud email account (@me.com) in the Mail app in OS X Mountain Lion (the OS in which, by all accounts—no pun intended—it all started).
Disabled iCloud to use and sync Mail.
This is the settings for Gmail in Mountain Lion, in which disabling Mail and the MobileMe account for use, should be the only email address associated with my iCloud account (excepts it obviously isn't as MobileMe is tied to my AppleID for whatever purpose Apple saw fit back in the day):
I saw a thread here discussing the posibility of deleting the iCloud account on the iPhone, powering it off and then, when powered back on, simply signing in again with iCloud. I'm nor sure this is a "solution" as much as a way around something I cannot understand is happening in spite of the changed I have made already.
Surely, someone must be able to tell me what I can do to simply not have my @me.com email address set to the default From address in Mail in iOS. Other than that, I have no real problem with the @me email address being used, at all.
It's just so annyoing when trying to send a quick reply to a colleague or something.
    Please discuss below.

I feel funny replying to myself; I cannot remove this discussion and at any rate, I guess if someone else has this problem, they'll be pleased it has not been deleted.
So, I managed to fix this all on my own. Obviously the difficulty-level is about as low as it gets:
After updating to iOS 6 last night, I was playing around in the settings of my phone, when I came across this, the iCloud for Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calandars > Accounts > iCloud:
All I had to do was to turn Mail off. This leaves the Cc/Bcc, From field empty in my phone's Mail app--just the way I wanted it!

  • How can I disable mail.app?

I want to disable mail.app.  I don't buy that it's "needed by OS X."  I want it shut off, or preferably uninstalled.  I found a better app that still lets me read newsgroups, and mail.app just gets in the way.  I had to go in and tell Google Calendar to shut off email notifications to stop the Notification Center from opening mail.app without me wanting it.
I might consider re-enabling mail.app, but not now.  Maybe not ever.  I bought a Mac so applications would only run when I want them.  This is not it.

Hey, I too have mail.app open on its own even though it is not the default email program and I do not "open" or "click" on it. I also--I don't think--have any accounts configured. When it opens all I see is the "Welcome to Mail" page.
    Major annoyance.
Do you have any recommendations or suggestions on how to prevent mail.app from opening?
    Much thanks,

  • Mail.app & signatures. Is there a limit to the content or number?

we run a printing company and wanted to take advantage of our mail.app to tag on other services we offer. we wanted to do a random, rotating list of 40 or so signatures. Each with a different pdf featuring a different product. But it seems that when we use the signature feature, emails are not received, they seem to go out on our end, but never received by anyone. No signature, no problem. I've even tried deleting all the signatures and going back to just text. as long as the signature is set to none the email goes. Does anyone know what's going on?

Did you check to see if any of the recipients had filters in place to ignore or delete HTML emails, or emails with attachments? If not, that could be the issue. Have you tried testing these by sending messages from one of your email accounts to a different one to see if you receive them?
As for a limit, there might be, but Apple has never stated that there is, so unless you reach a point where it refuses to accept or use a particular signature, I'd have to guess the answer is 'No'. There'd be no point in limiting content, since as long as an email uses valid HTML or CSS markup, you should be able to include it in a signature; but testing before actually using is always advised.

Is there a way to temporarily disable the iPod within my iPhone. I am trying to stream music using an app and a dock on my Sony AIR and the stream is over ridden by the iPod starting up.

First of all, an idle threat is one that a person has no intention of carrying out. In the past 16 months that I have had this phone I have become less and less satisfied and found that it is like much of today's technology....over rated and under performing. The one thing that I have never been accused of is not wanting, or not giving help but when a company makes itself unavailable to resolve issues and leaves it to forums run by users helping users, it speaks more about the company than anything else they could do. As I said, I do not make idle threats and I did not threaten you in any way. Guess I'll call this topic done with as it is not and was not the intent to get a war started

  • How to disable message images in Mail app for all but contacts?

I use the Mail app for OS X Mavericks and have been inundated with spam lately. I understand that spam email campaigns can confirm that you have opened their mail (and subsequently continue to send you mail) by image tracking so I would like to disable images from showing for all except my contacts. I don't recall if it was with Mail or another email client I previously used, but I vaguely remember message images not showing by default and requiring you to click a button at the top of the message in order to show the images within it. If possible, I would like to be able to do this for non-contacts.
So my question is: how can I disable images from showing, by default, in messages from non-contacts within the Mail app?
If there is no way to do this, can someone suggest an alternative email client for Mac OS that does allow this? I am willing to change if this feature does not exist within the Mail app.
    Thanks for your time.

Personally, I've never heard of spammers tracking by a contact's image. I think you might be confusing this with the images in the message.
Spammers can do two things to track you.
    1) Send an email with a read receipt. Mail doesn't support read receipts
    2) Send an email with an embedded image (sometimes called a bug or beacon). When the email is opened, the email software loads the image from the remote server by sending it an HTTP request.
If a message matches the junk mail criteria, then a bar will appear near the top of the message. External images in the message will automatically be disabled, so that spam authors won’t be able to track if you’ve opened the message. To load the images, click the “Load Images” button in the bar, or to mark the message as not junk, select “Not Junk.”
Mail > Preferences > Viewing >Uncheck Display remote images in HTML messages.
Enable Junk filtering in Mail Preferences. Check "sender in in contacts, sender in in previous recipients**, message is addressed using full name.
Use SpamSieve, third party product to filter spam, http://c-command.com/spamsieve/
Keep contacts in your Address Book.
Mark messages as junk to help train the junk filter.
Don't open a message you think is spam. You should be able to see enough of a message in the preview to know if it's spam.
** Open Previous Recipients under Window in the Menu bar. Remove any addresses from spammers.

  • Disable drafts autosave in Mail.app

I use MobileMe with Mail.app on my MacBook Pro and when I write a new email and then send it I see the same email in my drafts folder (it appears in several minutes after I send it). it's very annoying bug. As I see it — Mail.app autosaves a copy of the email I'm writing to the drafts folder and syncs it to the MobileMe server. Then I send the email, but Mail.app is still in the process of syncing the draft with the server (usually when I email smth huge like photos or videos). That's why, the message (draft) is not deleted from the MobileMe server and when it syncs back I see the draft I sent on my mac again. And I have to delete it manually. Sometimes I get 2 or even 3 drafts of the same message.
The way out is to disable autosave draft function in Mail.app. And to make it work just like on iOS, so that it saves draft if I press "Save draft" or it asks me if I want to save draft when I close the email.
Don't offer to turn off "Save drafts on the server" option in settings, because sometimes I need to continue working on the email from my iPad or iPhone and I need drafts to be synced. But only when I press "Save draft".
    Any ideas?

  • Mail.app, Link on signature-icon does not open URL

    In a mail-signature I have a FaceBook-icon with a Hyperlink to a FaceBook-site.
    - This link works not in a received message, when the recipient is Mail.app on Yosemite.
    - With Mail.app on Mavericks it works well.
    Behaviour:
    - Double-Click opens the attached picture, but not the URL in the browser, as expected.
    - URL ist shown correctly on MouseOver
... sometimes, condition are not reproducible ....it works :-(
To create the link I used the method as described at.  http://mac-fusion.com/clickable-social-media-icons-in-your-mail-app-signature/
    Can anybody confirm this behavior?
Any workaround in creating the Hyperlink - or is it a bug?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Signature in new mail app

so I was using mark up and experimented with the signature
    function . works great
what if I don't have a picture in the email but want to use the same signature I created with mark up to sign my emails,
Is there  a way to do this?

    radman wrote:
Have you tried to use mark up to add a signature to a pic yet?
Its much more intuitive than keeping your picture of your signature stored on a server.
Apple's implementation of the signature function with markup is ingenious. It seems it wouldn't take to many extra lines
of code to carry that same functionality to use as a signature outside of markup. Since markup remembers the signature it created from one
email to the next that image of my signature is already being stored on the mail app
Yes I have tried this new feature to add a scanned hand_signature to a pic attached to email.
This does not seem to address your initial question if I understood it correctly.
the Signature function is limited to text the way I see it in Mail as it stands.
    Maybe I am missing something.
