TERA modifying the messages/Text in portal screens

Hi All,
We are implementing SAP Travel and expense management as a part of ESS implementation. We have some requiremnts to modify the standard texts and messgaes that appear on the portal screen.
I am aware that the message in Travel and expenses are maintained in the backend (R/3) and passed on to portal through a BADI.
Can someone please share me the BADI's and message classes used for this purpose?

this can be modified in two ways....
1) to create tracks in NWDI and modify the text in the webdynpro code
2) the text can also be changed using the iview properties...

How to Disable client side validation for the message text input

Hi,
I have scenario where i need to by pass the client side validation for a message text input
Scenario is
I have a message text input field(say XYZ), i set the max length for the item as 20
Now when im trying to enter the greek characters into it, it is allowing me to enter till 20 characters
But when i try to submit the form ..my client side validation is firing..
The Error says the XYZ is too long
The problem is, in greek each character takes two bytes.(In english it is only 1).While entering the content it allowing 20 characters and when validating it is checking for bytes(if we enter in greek the length will be 40 bytes not 20)
I cannot increase the max length .coz i have restrict the character length to 20 only.(english or Greek).
Please help me in this regard.

Thanks for the information.But we dont have any option either declaratively or programatically to disable the client side validation for the message text input..I referred java docs ..i dint find any method which does..

How do i get both my IPAD devices to display the PDF icons/attachments? Bearing in mind if i open the same email over the internet the PDF Icons/attachments display OK!

This happens to me all the time.
If is a one page PDF it seems as though it comes over already open and inline in the body of the email. Multiple page PDF files show as the PDF icon.
I can't find any official documentation of this - other than based on my own experience with PDF attachments in my various email accounts.

Hi there, Well, I do not know about any documentation for that. But as faras changing the JSP pages, its very easy. I have always done this. Putting new pictures and new textwas just as easy as editing the JSP page. This is for login screen.To changes pictures for applications (after login pages), these areusually stored in image folder on your webserver. Disclaimer: I have not done these in System 9 but versionsbefore that. Since its still java, it should be the sameprocess. Good Luck.

How to maximise the length of the Parameter text on Selection screen

I am putting the text in the selection screen for a Parameter.
Its text is long and it is not letting me to put the whole text in Text Symbol.
In the report
When I click on GOto--> Text Elements --> Selection Texts
I am sure there is a way we can maximise this...
ANy suggestions will be apprecaiated.

Here for Both, I need to add the selction text as 'BOTH Existing and Non-existing Classifications'
This is a parameter, can any body explain me how to do it with the Parameters.

After reading a gmail and deleting, the message reappears on my screen, i now show 400 plus min my inbox.

As I read my gmail and delete, the entry disappears on my screen.. However, It reappears on my screen the next time i open gmail with the inbox. I now show over 400 messages in inbox some going back to deletions in november.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

How to show the message text for constraint violations

In a batch procedure a primary key is violated (ORA-00001). For the primary key, a message is recorded in the TAPI and the message table.
How to show the enduser a proper message text instead of the ORA-00001.
We are using Designer 6 with Headstart 2.1.2.

If you try to insert the record by calling the ins procedure of the Table API, you will see that it will result in an ORA-20998 message, which means that the error message details reside in the CG$ERRORS plsql message table. These messages can be extracted e.g. with the messages.sql script, shipped with headstart.
If you do not want to rewrite your direct DML (insert into [table name] ...) in the complexer calls to the TAPI services, you might want to user VAPI's for it. In fact, this is one of the major advantages of using VAPI's.
The CDM guidelines volume, chapter 6 states that:
The front end no longer needs to trap declarative constraint
errors (Primary Key, Unique Key, Not Null and Check
Constraint violations) and replace them with a user-friendly
error. The View API issues DML statements through the TAPI
and the TAPI traps all declarative constraint errors, and puts
user-friendly message on the stack, in the preferred language of
the user! Fore more information, see the section, Completeness
of Rule Violations Reported in Front End, in this chapter.
So the only thing you need to do is generate VAPI's, and trap the ORA-20998 message (qms$errors.qms$exception) in an exception handler, where you retrieve the user friendly messages from the message stack!!

Possible to modify the message clients receive when updates are ready to install?

An upper-up wants the message clients see when updates are ready for installation changed. They want the "Software changes must be applied to your computer after [date]" changed to something else. Is this possible? (See the image below)

Libreoffice not showing all the message texts in menus

Hi,
I use libreoffice Build-ID: 4.2.5.2 Arch Linux build-1 on my laptop and a week ago i noticed that a lot of the text in the menus is not displayed anymore. Also any mouse over texts are empty.
I tried to install some true type fonts but this did not help. Then I installed some more localization packages but this did not help either. What could be the reason for this defect?

What version of libreoffice were you using back when the menu text worked? If it's the same version, maybe an Xorg or Cairo update broke it. Accelerated text sometimes has issues and you can test that by putting
Section "Device"
Option "ExaNoComposite" "true"
EndSection
in an xorg.conf.

Modify the message in workflow emails

Hello,
I have a a criteria workflow that notifies an 'approver' whenever content is checked into Content Server. I want to customize the notification email that is sent to 'approver'.
I talked to Oracle Support and they said they cannot provide support for customizations.
I know that the templates being used are in C:\oracle\ucm\server\shared\templates, and are reviewer_mail.htm and reject_mail.htm.
How can I accomplish this?

(this is 10g documentation but will be applicable for 11g templates and the 11g docs probably are similar or the same)
Chapter 2 talks about the wizard.
chapter 8 page 23 talks about template files. It shows you where the default directory is (do not modify the files as I mentioned before) and in that source directory is a file called templates.hda which is the system pointer file to all the templates. It probably is discussed in that chapter 8. Search for the file name and the grouping of data around that will tell you the Template name (not file name but the UCM "name" for the template for mail).
Then with the wizard you can use that UCM name to create a new Template file (automatically created by the wizard) and edit it to have the standard code over ridden (not changed in the source files and thus subject to destruction by patches).

Can I modify the default text in an email submission?

When I press the "submit email" button on my form, it opens Lotus Notes (yes, gag, corporate decision) and appends the XML file to an email that states:
"The attached file contains data that was entered into a form. It is not the form itself.
The recipient of this data file should save it locally with a unique name. Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 or later can process this data by importing it back into the blank form or creating a spreadsheet from several data files. See Help in Adobe Acrobat Professional 7 or later for more details."
Can I modify this text somehow??

We ran into the same issue so we chose to create our own email submit button. We even allowed our users to enter their email, subject line and body using response boxes. We used the standard button and added the following Javascript on the click event.
