Terminal error - what is a redirection error?

When I launch Terminal I get the following error:
-bash: redirection error: cannot duplicate fd: Too many open files
I can't find any info on this, any help appreciated.

One of your bash dotfiles is corrupt. It was probably some open source 3rd party software that attempted to set something up for you.
Create a new, admin account on your machine. Log in to that. Then run terminal on that account. From there, you can use sudo to go into the old account and fix the dot files. If it isn't obvious what the problem is, you can just copy your dotfiles from the new account to the old, changing permissions as appropriate.

    Hi Amol,
First of all the sicf transaction is to be used only if you use the internal ITS.
Now you have to put an external breakpoint in the source code of the ABAP Program or FM you want to debug , one of these in your case :
    Function: B40B_READ_TABLE of program SAPLBBP_BD_DRIVER_40B
    Function: META_READ_TABLE of program SAPLBBP_BD_META_BAPIS
    Form: LOCATIONS_READ of program SAPLBBP_ATTR_F4

    Form: STG_LOC_GET_FOR_LOCATION of program SAPLBBP_SC_APP
    Form: STG_LOC_GET of program SAPLBBP_SC_APP
    Form: LOCATION_STG_LOC_GET of program SAPLBBP_SC_APP
    Form: USER_ATTRIBUTES_GET of program SAPLBBP_SC_APP
Then launch the transaction in IE, once the program reaches a breakpoint, you'll get the ABAP debuger in IE.
    Regards.
PS: if it doesn't work, put the parameter ~generatedynpro in BBPGLOBAL service to have it applied to all BBP transactions

  • Getting "IPSEC(epa_des_crypt): decrypted packet failed SA identity check" messages on packets from only one of two far-end sources sharing the same tunnel, the other source works fine. What exactly does this error mean?

One computer at COMPANY-A is attempting to communicate with two
computers located at COMPANY-B, via an IPsec tunnel between the
    two companies.
All communications are via TCP protocol.
All devices present public IP addresses to one another, although they
may have RFC 1918 addresses on other interfaces, and NAT may be in use
on the COMPANY-B side.  (NAT is not being used on the COMPANY-A side.)
The players:(Note: first three octets have been changed for security reasons)
    COMPANY-A computer      1.2.3.161
COMPANY-A router        1.2.3.8 (also IPsec peer)
COMPANY-A has 1.2.3.0/24 with no subnetting.
COMPANY-B router        4.5.6.228 (also IPsec peer)
COMPANY-B computer #1   4.5.7.94 (this one has no issues)
    COMPANY-B computer #2   4.5.7.29 (this one fails)
COMPANY-B has 4.5.6.0/23 subnetted in various ways.
COMPANY-B also has 9.10.11.0/24, but it is not involved in the issue.
    What works:
The COMPANY-A computer 1.2.3.161 can communicate via the single IPsec
tunnel to COMPANY-B computer #1 4.5.7.94 without problems.
The "show crypto session detail" command shows Inbound/Outbound packets
flowing in the dec'ed and enc'ed positions.
    What doesn't:
When the COMPANY-A computer 1.2.3.161 attempts to communicate
via the single IPsec tunnel with the COMPANY-B computer #2 4.5.7.29,
the COMPANY-A router eventually reports five of these messages:
Oct  9 15:24:54.327: IPSEC(epa_des_crypt): decrypted packet failed SA identity check
Oct  9 15:24:57.327: IPSEC(epa_des_crypt): decrypted packet failed SA identity check

Oct  9 15:25:15.328: IPSEC(epa_des_crypt): decrypted packet failed SA identity check
Oct  9 15:25:39.329: IPSEC(epa_des_crypt): decrypted packet failed SA identity check
Oct  9 15:26:27.328: IPSEC(epa_des_crypt): decrypted packet failed SA identity check
and the "show crypto session detail" shows inbound packets being dropped.
The COMPANY-A computer that opens the TCP connection never gets past the
SYN_SENT phase of the TCP connection whan trying to communicate with the
COMPANY-B computer #2, and the repeated error messages are the retries of
    the SYN packet.
On the COMPANY-A side, this IPsec configuration has been set up on a 3745,
a 3725, and some 76xx routers were tried, all with similar behavior,
with packets from one far-end computer passing fine, and packets from
another far-end computer in the same netblock passing through the same
IPsec tunnel failing with the "failed SA identity" error.
The COMPANY-A computer directs all packets headed to COMPANY-B via the
COMPANY-A router at 1.2.3.8 with this set of route settings:
    netstat -r -n
    Kernel IP routing table

    COMPANY-B-ROUTER(M)->
I suspect that this curious issue is due to a configuration setting on the
Juniper device, but neither party has seen this error before.  COMPANY-B
operates thousands of IPsec VPNs and they report that this is a new error
for them too.  The behavior that allows traffic from one IP address to
work and traffic from another to end up getting this error is also unique.
As only the Cisco side emits any error message at all, this is the only
clue we have as to what is going on, even if this isn't actually an IOS
    problem.
What we are looking for is a description of exactly what the Cisco
    IOS error message:
IPSEC(epa_des_crypt): decrypted packet failed SA identity check
is complaining about, and if there are any known causes of the behavior
described that occur when running IPsec between Cisco IOS and a Juniper
SSG device.  Google reports many other incidents of the same error
message (but not the "I like that IP address but hate this one" behavior),
and not just with a Juniper device on the COMPANY-B end, but for those cases,
not one was found where the solution was described.
It is hoped that with a better explanation of the error message
and any known issues with Juniper configuration settings causing
this error, we can have COMPANY-B make adjustments to their device.
Or, if there is a setting change needed on the COMPANY-A router,
    that can also be implemented.
Thanks in advance for your time in reading this, and any ideas.

    Hello Harish,
    It is believed that:
COMPANY-B computer #1   4.5.7.94 (this one has no issues)
    COMPANY-B computer #2   4.5.7.29 (this one fails)
both have at least two network interfaces, one with a public IP address
(which we are supposedly conversing with) and one with a RFC 1918 type
address.   COMPANY-B is reluctant to disclose details of their network or
servers setup, so this is not 100% certain.
Because of that uncertainty, it occurred to me that perhaps COMPANY-B
computer #2 might be incorrectly routing via the RFC 1918 interface.
In theory, such packets should have been blocked by the access-list on both
COMPANY-A router, and should not have even made it into the IPsec VPN
if the Juniper access settings work as it appears they should.  So I turned up
debugging on COMPANY-A router so that I could see the encrypted and
    decrypted packet hex dumps.
I then hand-disassembled the decoded ACK packet IP header received just
prior to the "decrypted packet failed SA check" error being emitted and
found the expected source and destination IP addresses (4.5.7.29 and 1.2.3.161),
in the unecapsulated packet.  I also found the expected port numbers of the TCP
conversation that was trying to be established in the TCP header.  So, it
looks like COMPANY-B computer #2 is emitting the packets out the right
    interface.
The IP packet header of the encrypted packet showed the IP addresses of the
two routers at each terminus of the IPsec VPN, but since I don't know what triggers
the "SA check" error message or what it is complaining about, I don't know what
other clues to look for in the packet dumps.
As to your second question, "can you check whether both encapsulation and
decapsulation happening in 'show crypto ipsec sa'",   the enc'ed/dec'ed
counters were both going up by the correct quantities.  When communicating
with the uncooperative COMPANY-B computer #2, you would also see the
received Drop increment for each packet decrypted.  When communicating
with the working COMPANY-B computer #1, the Drop counters would not
increment, and the enc'ed/dec'ed would both increment.

The "send" errors appear to be related to the tunnel reverting to a
DOWN state after periods of inactivity, and you appear to get one
each time the tunnel has to be re-negotiated and returned to

Thanks for pondering this very odd behavior.

I was doing a bit of multitasking, and the kernel ran out of SWAP and crashed. After reboot everything is borked. Every program I had open prior to crash wont start or crashes soon after opening. (Chromium, Clementine, Terminal, Smuxi, VMware...). The error is either segmentation fault or some weird error.
    Smuxi:

Try downgrading libxcursor back to 1.1.14-1
There are several posts here about segfaults being caused by the upgrade libxcursor (1.1.14-1 -> 1.1.14-2)
The first few results of a search for libxcursor will give more details.

  • How to identify what are all the errors appears in process chain,

    Hi all,
i have a process chain running, but i want to find out what are all the errors that the process chain has thrown
    thanks
    pooja

    Hi Pooja,
    Errors in monitoring:
    SID error
Reason: If the corresponding master data is missing for the particular transaction data.
             1. Check for the load timing for the respective master data, if it less than an hour  then make the request red and repeat the ip.
             2. If the data is loaded to PSA then you have to delete the request from target and manually push the data to from PSA.
             3. If we are required for selective update then note down the info source from header and find it in RSA1,select the one with ‘Single as postfix’.
             4. Goto ‘data selection’ tab and change the range.
Tip: change the last 4 digits for from to ‘0000’and the last 4 digit for to     ‘9999’.
            5. Repeat the ip.
             6. In case only of failure in one target goto RSA1 find the PSA, put he request no. and reschedule it.
Note: IF PSA is present never make the request red rather delete it.
    Replication error
    Reason: Data source replication Failed.
             1. In order to handle this error you should be known to IP, info source and source system.
             2. Goto RSA1, find the data source in the source sys tab.
             3. Right click on the data source and replicate it.
             4. Since all the transformation rules pertaining to this data source need to be reactivated so go to SE38 and execute rs_transtru_activat_all, data source and sys name.
             5. Delete the ‘red’ request from the target.
    Update R not supported
Reason: The corresponding initialization flag for the ip is lost.
             1. Goto header click on the ip and goto schedule tab and click initialize in the source system, whatever screen appears delete the only request present(the initialization flag).
             2. Goto RSA1, find the ip in the info source (one with the Adhoc initialize flag).
             3. Goto update tab and select ‘Initialize delta process’ try going for ‘with data transfer’.
             4. Reschedule the IP.
    Duplicate Record Error
Reason: Duplicate error records for the loaded master data.
             1. Goto info package via header or via RSA1.
             2. Goto ‘processing tab’ and change the ip setting, selecting only PSA and ignore duplicate records and re run the ip.
             3. Do remember to change the ip settings back to the original once after the second step.
    ODS activation failure
Reason: Prerequisites for ODs activation not satisfied i.e. unique key.
             1. Goto ‘maintain variant’.
             2. Check for the ‘QM’ status of the requests in the target they should be green.
             3. Then click the ODS activation tab.
             4. In the screen which appears put the requests for which ODS activation failed.
             5. Activate these and keep on refreshing them until status reverts from green,
Remember to refresh these requests one at a time.
             6. If requests are red then delete them from target.
             7. Reschedule the IP.
Note: Never Try activating ODS manually if it is Y1.
    Aggregate Rollup error
Reason: No aggregate found for the respective rollup.
             1. Click on the variant in which the error occurred.
             2. Goto chain tab and copy the variant and instance.
             3. Run the nestle provided program YBW05.
             4. Put in info in there and put the status as g – ‘green’.
             5. Execute and refresh the status.
    Lock issue
Reason: The same ip is been locked by other user or may be used by other process chain.
             1. We can see the locked entries and in the transaction SM12.
             2. Wait for the other process to get complete once the ip loads to target in that process then there is no need for running it for the process.
             3. In other case make the request red, when PSA is present then goto environment tab ->schedule->initiate update.
             4. In the box appears select update in the background.
             5. And the manually update the failed IP’s by selecting manual update in the context menu.
Alfa confirming value error, Time conversion error, Chain didn’t start, Delay due to long running job, Poor system performance,Heirarchy node exist in duplicate.
    Reasons:
Alfa confirming error: Data format mismatch.
Time conversion error: Date, time format mismatch.
Chain didn’t start: A scheduled chain didn’t triggered at the prescribed timing.
-For all the above error we have to raise a ticket.
    Idoc or TRFC error
Reason: An Idoc is been stuck somewhere.
             1. Reload the Master Data manually again from Info-package at RSA1.

  • What r the diff. error that can be solved using RSRV tcode?

    Hi ,
what r the diff. error that can be solved using RSRV tcode?
I want to know all the errors that can be solved using RSRV t code
if any body is having good document regarding RSRV please send it to me at
    <u><b>[email protected]</b></u>
    Thanx in advance,
    ravi.

    Hi,
Refer the below links for more details about RSRV TCODE.
    /community [original link is broken]
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/92/1d733b73a8f706e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
it's for bw objects consistency analysis and repair.
from transaction code RSRV doc itself :
Transaction RSRV: BW Data and Metadata Test and Repair Environment.
Transaction RSRV checks the consistency of data stored in BW. It mostly examines the foreign key relationships between individual tables in the enhanced star schema of the BW system.
The transaction interface was re-designed for SAP Portals release 3.0A. A brief guide about how to use the transaction follows.
    Starting the Transaction
You can reach the test and repair environment
By entering the transaction code RSRV
    From InfoObject maintenance (Transaction RSD1)
By clicking on the "Analyze" button in the intial screen.
After selecting a characteristic in the maintenance screen via the "Processing -> Analyze InfoObject" menu option.
    The Initial Screen
When using the test and repair environment for the first time, the message "Values were not found for all setting parameters" draws your attention to the fact that there aren't any saved settings for your user.
After confirming the dialog box, you reach the initial screen of the transaction. This is divided into two parts:
    1. On the left-hand side, you can see a tree structure with the pool of available tests.
    2. The right-hand side is empty at first. The tests you have selected will be put here. A selection of tests is called a Test Package here.
    Combined and Elementary Tests
An Elementary Test is a test that cannot be divided into smaller tests and that can therefore only be executed as a whole.
In this regard, a Combined Test determines which elementary tests are to be executed after entering the parameters. You can remove individual elementary tests from the test package before carrying out the actual test run, in order to reduce run time, for example.
Combining a Test Package and Executing it.
Firstly select one or more tests with drag&drop or by double-clicking. Each selected test appears as a closed folder in the view of your test package. (An exception is elementary tests without parameters: These do not appear as a folder). You can also drag a whole folder of tests from the test pool across to the right-hand screen area; all tests that are located in the hierarchical structure under this folder are then added to the test package. You can also display a short description of the test, if required. Do this right-clicking on a test and choosing "Description" from the context menu.
Afterwards, you must supply the tests with parameters. Tests without parameters must not be given parameters. You are given notification of this when selecting them. You can enter parameters by double-clicking on a test (or a test package) or by expanding the folder of the test.
A dialog box appears in which you must enter the required parameters. Input help is often available. After entering the parameters, a folder with the name "Parameter" is added under the test. This contains the parameter values. The test name can change in some circumstances, enabling you to see at first sight for which parameter values the test is to be executed. It is possible to select the same test several times and give it different parameters, which may even be preferable in some situations. When you have supplied the combined test with parameters, the folder with the name "Elementary Tests" is added under this one. It contains the elementary tests, from which the combined test is built. You can delete individual elementary tests in the test pool using drag & drop.
After supplying all tests with parameters, you can start the test run by clicking on the "Execution" button. After execution, the test icons change from a gray rhombus to a red, yellow or green one, depending on whether the test had errors, warnings or was error-free.
    Test Results
The test results are written to the application log. Depending on the settings, the system jumps automatically to this display, or you can reach it by clicking on the "Display" button. The results are saved in the database, and can therefore be compared later with additional test runs.
In the left-hand side of the window, you can see an overview of the most recent test runs. Double-clicking on a folder displays all messages under these nodes as a flat (non-hierarchical) list in the right-hand screen area. Long texts or detail data may be available for individual messages, which can be displayed with a mouse click.
    Repairs
Some tests can repair inconsistencies and errors. Automatic correction is generally not possible: If entries are missing from the SID table for a characteristic, in which case the lost SIDs are still being used in a dimension table (and the corresponding dimension keys are still being used in the fact table) of an InfoCube, you can only remove the inconsistency by reloading the transaction data of the InfoCube. Also note that you must make repairs in the correct sequence. You must always read the documentation for the test and have a good idea about how the error occured, before making the repairs.
After executing the test run, go from the application log back to the initial screen to make these repairs. Click on the "Fix Errors" button to start an error run. Since the dataset could have changed between the test and the repair run, the required tests are executed again before the actual repair. The results can be found in the application log once again.
    Test Packages
The test package is deleted if you do not save the test package in the display before leaving the test environment. Choose "Test Packages -> Save Test Package" in the option menu. You can do the following via options in the "Test Package" menu:
    Load packages
Load for processing - the package is then locked against changes by others.
    Delete and
Schedule execution at a later date or at regular intervals in background processing
    Settings
In the "Settings" menu option, you can make settings (adjust the size of the screen areas, for example) and save them. The settings are automatically read when starting the test environment. Support packages are being delivered with additional settings options since the test environment is under development at the moment. A message notifies the user at the start if there aren't any values for the setting options.
    Jobs Menu Option
You can access the job overview via the Jobs -> Job Overview menu. Use this when you want to check the status of a test package you have scheduled.
    Application Log Menu Option
You can display old logs from previous test runs in the dialog box, as well as scheduled ones. The option of deleting test logs can also be found here.
    New Selection Button
The currently selected test package is deleted when you press this button.
    Filter Button
After a test run, click on this button to remove all elementary tests without errors or warnings from the test package.
Executing Test Packages in Process Chains
You can add a process chain to the ABAP Programm RSRV_JOB_RUNNER in the process chain maintenance transaction, RSPC. To do this, use drag & drop to select the process type "ABAP Program" under "General Services" in the process type view. When maintaining process variants you will be asked for the program name and a program variant. Enter RSRV_JOB_RUNNER for the program name. Choose a program variant name and click on "Change". In the next screen you are able to either change or display an already existing variant, or create a new variant. When creating a new variant you will be asked for the following: Package name (an imput help on this is available), the detail level for the log to which the RSRV log in the process chain log is to be integrated, and a message type severity at which process chain processing should be terminated.
The RSRV process log in the process chain is built as follows:
First is a summary specifying whether errors, warnings, or no errors occurred for each elementary test.
A log view of the RSRV test package at the specified detail level follows.
Example: If you choose the value '3' for the detail level, only messages up to and including detail level 3 will be included in the log processes for the process chain. Messages occuring at a lower layer of the test package test are not displayed in this log. Please note that, unlike the application log, the process log does not propagate errors from deep detail levels to low detail levels. For example, if a single detail level 4 error occurs the summary will show that the relevant test delivered an error. However, this error will not be listed in the second part of the log.
A complete log is always written independantly of the RSRV process log in the process chain. You can view this in the menu option "Application Log->Display Log->From Batch".
Please note that there is currently no transport object for test packages and that consequently these cannot be transported. Process chains that execute RSRV test packages must therefore be manually postprocessed after a transport to a different system: The relevant test packages must be created.
    Hope This Helps,
This is already there in SDN.

    rik

  • What happens to SONET errors?

I'm not particularly strong with SONET and only have a small SONET network so any help with this question would be greatly appreciated.  When line terminating equipment (SONET node) detects a section error what does it do with that frame when it switches it to the next section?  Somehow it will not appear as an error on the next section and my group has some differing opinions on how this is accomplished.  Any opinion and associated documentation you could provide would be great.

    Hi,
    SONET uses the layer model.
The overhead and transport functions are broken into layers: Physical, Section, Line and Path.  The layers have a hierarchical relationship and are viewed from the top down.
The lowest layer is the physical layer, which represents the transmission medium. This is usually a fiber link.  No overhead is associated with the physical layer.  The main function of this layer is conversion between internal STS-N signals and external optical or electrical SONET signals
The Section layer deals with the transport of an STS-N frame across the physical medium.  Functions of this layer include framing, scrambling, Section error monitoring and Section level communications overhead The Section overhead is interpreted and modified or created by Section Terminating Equipment.
The line layer is the part of the SONET link between multiplexers.  The line overhead is used for the line layer.  This layer provides synchronization and multiplexing functions for the Path layer.  The overhead associated with these functions includes overhead for maintenance and line protection purposes
The Path Layer is the part of the SONET network from where the asynchronous digital signals enter and to where these signals exit the SONET network.  (end-to-end).  The Path layer maps the payloads into the format required by the Line layer. In addition, this layer communicates end-to-end via the Path Overhead. The POH is interpreted and modified or created by Path Terminating Equipment.
Each layer has its own set of overhead bytes that it uses for communication and monitoring purposes.
The information in the overhead bytes is interpreted and re-created at the corresponding terminating layer.   For example,  section overhead uses the B1 parity bit to monitor for section errors .  This information is propagated  separately for each section start/end point.  When section terminating node sees B1 errors, it declares a section alarm or threshold crossing for that segment.  The Section overhead and parity is then recalculated for the next segment of section overhead.  Hence you will not see a section alarm or error propagated from segment to segment.
GR-253-CORE is the official industry standard for SONET transport systems.  It is published by Telcorida Technologies.  It described in-depth the generic criteria that all telecommunications equipment are supposed to conform to.  Probably not the best place to start but it is an excelelnt source on SONET protocols.
There are some good on-line SONET tutorials that you can find using a GOOGLE search.  Here are a few good links.

  • Netcfg-wpa_actiond ambiguous redirect error

I've recently switched from networkmanager to netcfg and now wish I had taken the time to look into it earlier, as I love the speed and simplicity of netcfg!
I do run into a peculiar problem however when trying to use net-auto-wireless. I have installed netcfg, ifplugd, wpa_actiond and wpa_supplicant, as well as netcfgGUI (I like to see that I'm connected and to which network).
During the boot procedure I get the message "/usr/bin/netcfg-wpa_actiond: line 64: $WPA_CONF: ambiguous redirect"
In rc.conf I have the relevant lines:
    # NETWORKING
    #eth0="dhcp"
    #wlan0="dhcp"
    #INTERFACES=(!eth0 !wlan0)
    WIRELESS_INTERFACE=(wlan0)
    WIRED_INTERFACE=(eth0)
    DAEMONS=(syslog-ng hal net-auto-wireless net-auto-wired !network !networkmanager ...
The computer is an Eee PC 901, using the rt2860sta module. The rt2800pci and rt2x00pci modules are blacklisted.
netcfg itself works just fine when trying to connect manually via the command line or netcfgGUI, but for completeness sake here's a copy of one of my profiles (all profiles are the same, except for the ESSID):
    CONNECTION='wireless'
DESCRIPTION='A simple WPA encrypted wireless connection'
    INTERFACE='wlan0'
    IP='dhcp'
    ESSID='USR'
    SECURITY='wpa'
    KEY='secret wpa passphrase'
The strange thing is that on my girlfriend's Eee PC (also a 901), net-auto-wireless works just fine. It's configured exactly the same, the only difference being that she runs KDE 4.4 whereas I run Openbox 3.4
    What am I missing?
    EDIT: corrected error message

Re configsection, see this thread: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=91439
I'm using configsection with no issues. Incidentally, I'm also using a 901.
The ambiguous redirect message is on a line of code that redirects output to $WPA_CONF which should be (in mine and your case) should be
    /tmp/wpa.wlan0/wpa.conf
The redirect error normally occurs when a wildcard is used or spaces exist in the filename and it hasn't been surrounded by quotes. I note that the line involved doesn't wrap $WPA_CONF so if it has spaces it might cause an issue. You should check the contents of the /tmp/wpa-wlan0 folder and see whether a spurious characters are in there. The function that creates it should remove spaces, but there's a comment in it pointing out that quotes should still be used.
You could insert a line into /usr/bin/netcfg-wpa_actiond (back it up first) to echo $WPA_CONF to a file:
    echo "$WPA_CONF" > /tmp/wpafilepath
And see if there's an obvious error there.
If there's nothing obvious, you could try three things:
    1) Edit /usr/bin/netcfg-wpa_actiond (back it up first) and change line 64 from:
    echo -e "network={ \n$config \nid_str=\"$profile\" \n}" >> $WPA_CONF
    to
    echo -e "network={ \n$config \nid_str=\"$profile\" \n}" >> "$WPA_CONF"
If that works, report it as a bug and submit the suggested fix.
    2) Try config section.
    3) Try wpa-config which involves using wpa_suplicant.conf. This will avoid that line of code altogether.
It might be worth reporting it as a bug as netcfg set-up the file, so it should be able to write to it.
Have to rush off, so unable to proof-read the above. Apologies there are any errors.

  • What is an osstatus error 54 in iPhoto?

What is an osstatus error 54 in iPhoto?

and the other part of my question?
and where is your iPhoto Library stored?
The error message is a permissions error. Either iPhoto cannot open the file or cannot find it. I am seeing this error message when copying iPhoto libraries or any packages usually, when one of the drives in question is formatted incorrectly (the file system is not MacOS Extended (Journaled)), or when the package contains unreadable files. Or one of the file names may contain invisible, illegal characters.  Make sure, the "Ignore Ownership" flag is set on any external drives in question, to avoid permission problems and make sure the file system is correct  on all drives.
And (OSStatus error -54.) is usually a first warning, when a drive starts to fail. So make sure, you do not delete any backups, you may need them.
If your file system is correctly formatted as MacOS Extended (Journaled) and the Database rebuild correctly, but the videos still do not play, it might be a problem of a missing Cache file, typically caused by apps that clean caches, etc, to clean your Mac. On MacOS X 10.8.5 has been a problem with videos in some cases, when cleaning applications cleaned a certain cache, and a helper file was missing, that may be necessary to play videos. That problem still persists with Yosemite.
To make videos play again it helped to rebuild the cache using a Terminal command:
Try this fix posted by andyBall_UK:
Open a Terminal window (the Terminal.app is in Applications > Utilities)
Copy and paste the line below into the Terminal window, hit return  and enter your administrator password.
    sudo /usr/libexec/xpchelper --rebuild-cache
If you do not want to use a Terminal command you can achieve the same thing by booting into recovery and reinstalling the system on top of your current system - don't wipe the drive before you do it. Reinstalling on top of the current system should suffice: OS X: About OS X Recovery

  • Redirect errors, also JAR woes

    Hello,
    Two mysteries:
    1. How do you redirect runtime errors to a file instead of to the default output(the screen)?
    2. My JAR files executes, but none of the images are showing up. I see that the images are bound in the JAR file when I do the "jar tf" command. Also some of my functions are not operational. I used the Manifest with the line "Main-Class: MyProgramName.jar"
It seems as though I may need to bind the java packages into the JAR too. The JAR is a small application for download from my site. What do I have to do to make the jar work? The online documentation is cryptic!
    Thank you

Fixing Main-Class: MyProgramName did not fix the
problem. If the native api is included in the JVM,
what would make everything in the image/* directory
not show up? It's in the relative directory under the
main dir. IE:That depends. It depends on whether that directory is in the jar file or outside it, and it depends on how your code is trying to read it. And what do you mean by "the native api is included in the JVM"?
Also when I click on a component a jdialog is supposed
to open. This is not happening with my jar app.Probably because it isn't starting at all -- but again, that's just a guess.
How do I redirect errors from standard output to a
    file?
    System.setErr(new PrintStream(new FileOutputStream(...)));

it seems my subscription had expired so I signed up again.. It was still having trouble so I repeated the sign up process again.. Then it worked perfectly.. Unfortunately, I think I just subscribed twice and need to cancel one of them. Ugh. Such a pain when I'm trying to get this project completed. I'll be canceling at least one of the subscriptions in the morning. Adobe is not my favorite company right now. None of this was intuitive. And trying to get help was an absolute waste of an hour.
