Terminate out going email?

Can anyone tell me how to stop an outgoing email that is continually trying to send and is unsuccessful?

Is this with a verizon.net account or another provider? Verizon recently made some changes to their POP/SMTP servers, so you might want to switch to the latest settings if it's a Verizon account.

  • Out going email

I previously posted a problem I was having with Outgoing mail. When I hit send a box comes down and I have to select which email address I want to use. I thought it was solved with the answer I got but its doing the same thing. I have 2 email accounts one of which I want to send threw. Is there a way to remove the addresses from this list. I have changed to the one I want in the accounts out going and have selected the one I want in Mail/Properties/composing area as suggested, any other suggestions?

You're right. I just had a look and I see that option I suggested you check is not available in Tiger. You could try the following and see if it does what you want: In Preferences>Accounts>Account Information, highlight the Account, then in Outgoing Mail Server select the Account you don't want mail sent from and choose the Edit Server list in the drop down menu. Then remove everything there for that Account. I don't see why that wouldn't stop that popup from appearing.
However, since I'm not seeing this behavior on my Tiger Mail and I have outgoing Servers configured for three accounts, it may be something quite simple I don't know about and doing the above really shouldn't be necessary, Why don't you ask in the Tiger Mail forum?

  • I Phone 3gs my out going email replies rejected by the server

New user, I Can't figure out what setting is wrong for centurylink and gmail out going.
    I recieve fine. cant reply.
reply on text mes and facebook is good.
    Help anyone?

Your email provider has blocked the standard mail port 25 for sending emails and is requiring a different port. This is to avoid mail relays that use mail clients to send spam. You need to find the port that is used by your provider for sending outgoing mail. Then change the settings in your email account on your phone to match the port. You will also have to provide some security credentials for the account.
You can also try deleting the email account from your iphone, and the adding the email account back as this will many times set the correct port for sending emails.
You could also do a Google search on the the settings for your device with your email provider. That will provide you with the proper settings.

  • Why do  I continually  lose the Swoosh sound  for out going Emails?

Just in the past 3 mos. or so I lost the swoosh sound that indicates that the email from my box has gone out. I need to shut down and restart before it works again. Contacted Apple care twice and after their "fixes" today it's still not working. I just wann know that the mail has gone out!

Click the apple button on the top left, click software update
Click the apple button on the top left, click force quit, force quit mail, close out force quit window
Click the apple button, select shut down, wait 1 minute after shut down, restart the computer
-->if mail outbound is still not making a sound, you may need to reset all settings to default using the com.apple.mail.plist removal (which in this case would POSSIBLY delete everything inside of your email, so if you need anything backed up first, this would be a good time to do it (IMAP typically has a running backup at all times since you are using the server for everything Unlike POP based email). DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS your mail is backed up, and or you know you won't lose anything super important in your mail application.
When you are ready to take the next step if the BOLDED ABOVE doesn't apply/didn't work here is the steps to trying the com.apple.mail.plist reset for LION: (Force Quit Mail, make sure it's not running) select Finder from the dock > Select Go > Hold down the Option Key On the Keyboard > Select Library > Select Preferences from the list > Select com.apple.mail.plis > hit the delete key > empty the trash > restart the computer. You shouldn't lose your mail accounts nor anything, BUT just in case I always ask people to back up first. Again this task is long, but should resolve the email sound issue.

  • Long time to send an out going email....

Whenever I try to send an outgoing email. It does not send instantly. It can take up to 15 minutes for my email to go through. I am the iPhone 4. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks! After a bit of tinkering I got that to work. I had to add the port number after the outgoing server, AND add a password in the "optional" password field in the iPhone Mail preferences.
    so mine ended up being:
mail.mydomain.com:26 (my host specified that port number)
    username: [email protected]
    password: mypassword
Glad that's solved. Finally! Speeding outgoing mail! woo hoo!

  • I can't sync my out going email on my mac with my iPhone and iPad. Incoming mail is fine....Please help if you can.

Please help if you can this is getting painful to try to remember what device I sent an email from.
    Thanks

Is it because the new itunes looks different.
    View > Show Sidebar
Then it should work just the same as on your old computer.

  • From Address for out going email in IC Web Client

    Hi Experts,
    System: SAP CRM 2007 (ERMS)
Whenever we log in to the agent inbox and try to respond to an email, the FROM address defualts to the log-in address. The system should ideally pick up the list defined in "Outgoing email address group" maintened in email profiles.
The email profile is assigned to the right business role and the agent is assigned to the right position with the same business role.
Would any one know, why this problem occurs?
    Regards,
    Ronit

Resolved at our end. This was due to a small customization done earlier.

Basically, that's correct. Many of the online email systems like .Mac, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and AOL have had to do just that. Port 25 is the traditional SMTP port for Pop email, but ISP's are trying to deal with some of the Spamming problems by not allowing Port 25 to be used to any machine but their own. Apparently, the ISP you use at work does not block port 25.
I have over 15 email accounts for different purposes (mostly to monitor clients email servers). All of them receive emails from the servers for the domain they are in, but I send outgoing messages through my ISP's email server.
As long as you set up the SMTP server to be your own ISP's with the proper authentication, you can set the Reply To Address as your business address and send emails.
If you want to use the same SMTP server from your home and business you will need to get the email server configured to allow connections from a port that is not blocked by Bell South. I suspect the port could be one of the ports that are already used by other online email servers. .Mac uses 587, Gmail uses 465, etc.
I don't think the port number is important except it should not be a port that is blocked by your ISP, or a common port for other services like port 80 for web servers, etc. I'm not an expert on setting up email server ports... I just try to get them to work

  • My out going email will not send i have recently changed my BB supplier and have tried to change to the new suppliers smtp code, but the error says unable to

i can not send outbound emails i have changed the smtp code but the survey can not connect

Have you attempted to use a computer to go to iCloud.com and change your password?  If you are successful at that, then do the following:
Settings > Mail, Contacts and Calendars, click on the iCloud account, scroll to the very bottom of your screen, delete account.  Then go back in and the iCloud account again and put in the new password.

  • Out going mail setting

I'm having problems with out going email setting. Are the settings different for each email account? I've an Ipad2 with 3G connection and WiFi. Do I also need to change the out going email settings when using a different onnecting mode?

Absolutely. Can you receive incoming emails on each account? Can you send emails fom all accounts except one in specific? Check the Wesite of the problem ccount of the outgoing settings. Eg., google outgoing settings with the name of your ISP.

  • POP Account Out-going server only?

Is it possible to have a POP account set up ONLY for use with an out-going server?
I am currently forwarding the POP emails to my .Mac account (doing this instead of checking the server because it won't sync with my iMac and iPhone being a POP account). I don't need the incoming server. I just want to be able to send out-going emails using this POP account alias - not my .Mac alias.
I am trying to prevent the duplicate incoming emails.
    Can I do this?
    Thanks,
    Cheryl

    Cheryl,
I never said anything about not selecting Enable this account -- that must be done. After the account is set up, click on Mailbox in the menubar, and put the cursor on Online status, then click for this one account to Take Offline.

  • I have a virus on my iPad that sends out bogus emails to everyone in my contact list. I don't know where it came from (email, apps not from iTunes, etc) but it sits somewhere on my iPad. Does anyone know of a scanning app that will find and eliminate it?

I have a virus on my iPad that sends out bogus emails (no subj and an URL that goes nowhere) to everyone in my contact list. I don't know how it got on my machine (email, non-iTunes apps, etc.) Does any one know of a scanning app that can find this virus and eliminate it? I have an iPad version 3 (WIFI) with 6.0.2 IOS. This scanner should be capable of running on my iPhone as well -- just in case it made it to to my other IOS machine. Thanks for your help! Steve

The chances that it's a virus on your iPad or iPhone is very slim. Who is your mail provider? it's far more likely that your address has been spoofed and it's your mail service that has been compromised not your iDevice. I know my Yahoo mail was hacked and people in my address book received spam mails that I didn't send.
have you changed the address on your e-mail account?
