Test Engine in OWSM

I had the Test Engine in OWSM working, and then I clicked on deactivate for one of the tests, and since then any new Tests I create do not show up in the list of tests. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
thanks

Sounds like a mess-up in the database tables. Any more info from the logfiles?
Maybe you should log a TAR with Support.

Advice on constructing a test engine and formatting a spreadsheet test file to perform command line interface testing on a range of products through telnet or serial interface and output pass/fail results.

If I understand correctly, you want to do the following:
    1. Create one or more tab-delimited files that specify a series of query strings (that LabVIEW will send to your products) and expected reply strings (that LabVIEW will look for in response to each query)
    2. Run your LabVIEW program (the test engine) and have it execute one or more test scripts from file using either TCP/IP or serial communication to your units under test
    3. Track how many of the queries are met with the expected response, and output an indication of whether each step passed or failed
If this is close to correct, then I've attached a sample test file and LabVIEW VI as an example; I chose the TCP/telnet method because it allowed me to use the ni.com Web site to simulate my tes
t hardware. If you happen to own the LabVIEW Internet Toolkit, there's a VI called "Telnet Play Script" in the Telnet palette that does something fairly similar using TCP. The same general model would also work for Serial communications.
    Hope it helps,

    Hello j. smith,
TestStand gives you the ability to create "sequence files" which are lists of tests to be run sequentially or in parallel. These tests can be written in any language: LabVIEW VIs, C/C++ DLLs, EXEs, ActiveX objects, .NET Assemblies, etc.
You can run your TestStand sequence files from a command-line prompt using the following syntax:
    \bin\SeqEdit.exe" /quit -run
This will launch the TestStand Sequence Editor (and optionally prompt you for TestStand login information if you have this configured), run your sequence file, then exit.
If you're using the TestStand process model, it can output your results to a report file or database if you configure this. To use a TestStand process mo
del to execute your sequence file, use the following syntax:
    \bin\SeqEdit.exe" /quit -runEntryPoint
    Here's an example:
    C:\>"C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 3.0\bin\SeqEdit.exe" /quit -runEntryPoint "Single Pass" "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\TestStand 3.0\Examples\Demo\C\computer.seq"
Note that multiple sequences and sequence files can be specified on the command line.
TestStand supports remote sequence execution using DCOM (Distributed COM), which is an east way to remotely execute tests. But as for running tests or commands through a telnet or serial interface, you would have need to check Windows documentation on how to execute command-line remotely like this.

  • Error in  HelloWorld service using oracle web services manager(Test Engine)

    Hi All,
I deployed simple hello world web services on jwsdp2.0 and it is running at the following end point address :
    http://localhost:8080/jaxrpc-HelloWorld/hello
When I use the Test engine provided by oracle web services manager to test this web service,Then I got the following response:
    <Result><ServiceResult name="sayHelloBack"><Data>Could not send: JAXRPCSERVLET28: Missing port information</Data></ServiceResult></Result>
I am just wondering what is the cause of this behavior? Is it because of compatibility problem between oracle and jwsdp2.0 based web services? As I mentioned earlier that HelloWorld Service is running under jwsdp2.0 & tomcat50-jwsdp and it works fine from jwsdp2.0 based client.I would appreciate your reply.Thanks.

I had the same problem, but adding the ant/lib directory to classpath helped.

  • What are the real advantages of ultilizing Teststand test engine as opposed to stand-alone Labview programming

The real problem that i am having is trying to keep open the VI that is called by Teststand for the user to enter values. Sometimes the window does not even appear to be open. Do i need to add delays.

    hi,
I guess you do have a while loop in your VI to allow for user input!!
It might be that the VI front panel is going behind the main panel. In which case you need to make the VI behave as a modal dialog. If you have TestStand 2 then there is an example ModalDialog in the examples folder. If you are still using Teststand 1.0.x then you can get the same example in the Resource Library. Do a search for Modal Dialog.
    Hope this helps

  • Custom OWSM Authorization Policy Not Visible in OSB 11g

I am trying to configure custom OWSM authorization policies to grant web service access in OSB to userids associated with custom WebLogic groups. Both OSB and SOA are version 11.1.1.5 with an Oracle Enterprise 11g database backend. To help rule out some possible operational errors, here are things that ARE working with the combination of SOA and OSB servcies:
    * the underlying SOA service functions in the /em console test page
    * the OSB proxy service works from the /sbconsole test page with OWSM oracle/wss_username_token_policy enabled
    * the oracle/log_policy can be added to the OSB business service and generates log entries
    * the outer proxy service can be successfully invoked from a remote client with no security policies,
with HTTP transport security and authorization policies and with OWSM authentication policies
attached (given the correct request payloads)
These findings would appear to rule out connection errors from the OSB engine to the jdbc/mds/owsm DataSource or proper startup of the "OWSM Policy Support in OSB Initializer Application" service within WebLogic. (By the way, that deploys with a typo in its registered name -- "Aplication" with a single p.)
Here are the steps that were performed:
    1) created group myfirmIdentityData in WebLogic console (/console)
    2) created userid myappuser in WebLogic console
    3) added myappuser to the myfirmIdentityData group in WebLogic console
    4) cloned the oracle/component_authorization_permitall Security policy to myfirm/authorize_IdentityData
using the Fusion console (/em on the SOA domain)
    5) edied myfirm/authorize_IdentityData to add the "role" myfirmIdentityGroup to the
    list of permitted roles (***)
*** note -- "roles" referenced within the OWSM policy configuration dialogs actually correspond to "groups" at the WebLogic Server level. A bit confusing at first but harmless.
    6) accessed the SOA service in the Fusion console (/em), clicked on the Policies tab and verified
the myfirm/authorize_IdentityData policy is available for application to the SOA service (BUT DID
NOT ATTACH IT HERE -- I'm trying to attach it at the "outer" layer in OSB, not SOA Suite)
    7) accessed the Service Bus console (/sbconsole), started a change session, selected the
proxy service, then clicked on the Policies tab, then clicked the Add button in the
    Service Level Policies section
At that point, the only services listed are the factory supplied oracle/********* policies. There are two pages listed and flipping between the two doesn't show any other policies other than the oracle/***** policies.
I even tried stopping and starting the domain thinking maybe OSB caches all of the OWSM policies at startup rather than querying the mds_owsm schema dynamically to no avail. No myfirm/****** policies are displayed after a domain restart.
    Any insight?
    Thanks.

Once again, I wound up opening a Support Request with the TAC for direction on this issue. The policies were not appearing for assignment to OSB proxy / business services because they were being created against the wrong type of object within OWSM.
In a nutshell, policies in OWSM can be created to be applied against:
    * Components --- only usable against SOA services
    * Service Endpoints --- against URLs used as access points into services
    * Service Clients -- against consumers of services as identified by credentials
    * All -- all of the above
However, policies built against Components can only be applied to SOA composite services. When I cloned the existing oracle/component_authorization_permitall Security policy to myfirm/authorize_IdentityData policy then limited it to the myfirmIdentityGroup group, that policy would only be assignable to SOA composities since it applied to only Components.
To allow the group based authorization policy to be enforced in the outer OSB tier, the oracle/binding_authorization_permitall_policy was cloned to myfirm/authorize_IdentityGroup. That policy was defined to apply to endpoints and once saved, appeared in the GUI of the Service Bus console to assign to the proxy service for the service being implemented. A second component policy named myfirm/componentauthorize_IdentityGroup was cloned from oracle/component_authorize_permitall_policy to perform the group authorization at the SOA layer.
A different issue is being encountered configuring the OSB business service to forward the OWSM headers from the outer proxy service to the SOA service so the authorization succeeds at the inner layer but that's a different problem. With the SOA layer authorization policy disabled, client tests to the proxy service function correctly with a userid in the myfirmIdentityGroup group and generate an authorization failure when another client credential is used that does not belong to myfirmIdentityGroup.

  • Can Web Performance Test work on AJAX or Javascript Project which will show only one URL for all the pages?

    Hi there,
I'm working on testing a AJAX and JavaScript Project which has several pages but all in the same URL. I need to test some attribute on the page or parameter past by AJAX or Javascript. Can Web Performance Test work to get what I want?
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    Thank you for your post.
Web performance test is used to test if a server responses correctly and the response is consistent with what we expected. And we test the response speed, the stability and scalability.
The Web Performance Test Recorder records both AJAX requests and requests that were submitted from JavaScript, but
web test does not execute JavaScript. I am afraid that you can’t use web test to test parameter past by AJAX or JavaScript.
    Please see:
    Web Performance Test Engine Overview
About JavaScript and ActiveX Controls in Web Performance Tests
From the first link, “Client-side scripting that sets parameter values or results in additional HTTP requests, such as AJAX, does affect the load on the server and might require you to manually modify the Web Performance Test to simulate the scripting.”
If you want to execute the function typically performed by script in web test, you need to accomplish it in coded web performance test or a web performance test plugin. Please see:
How to: Create a Coded Web Performance Test
How to: Create a Web Performance Test Plug-In
I am not sure what the ‘some attribute on the page’ is. If you mean that you want to test those controls on the page, you can do coded UI test, which can test that the user interface for an application functions correctly. The coded UI test performs actions
on the user interface controls for an application and verifies that the correct controls are displayed with the correct values. You can refer to this article for detailed information about code UI test:
Verifying Code by Using Coded User Interface Tests

  • OWSM: Gateway has encountered an unexpected error

    Hi everyone,
    Oracle SOA suite version: 10.1.3.1.0
I tested a web services application which deployed on GlassFish 9.1 (Java EE 5) on Test Page of OWSM, all the services methods worked fine.
then, I followed the steps of the quick start tutorial of OWSM for the above mentioned web services instead of TimeService, the problem happened, web service method has been called in server side, but the gateway has the problem to parse the response from the server.
The error message: Gateway has encountered an unexpected error
I look at gateway.log, there is exception:
http.HttpListener - Error while processing request
    java.lang.NullPointerException

         at oracle.xml.jaxp.JXSAXParser.parse(JXSAXParser.java:283)
    Any help will be appreciated!

I have the same problem, any solution?

  • ActiveX Control recording but not playing back in a VS 2012 Web Performance Test

I am testing an application that loads an Active X control for entering some login information. While recording, this control works fine and I am able to enter information and it is recorded. However on playback in the playback window it has the error "An
add-on for this website failed to run. Check the security settings in Internet Options for potential conflicts."
    Window 7 OS 64 bit
IE 8 recorded on 32 bit version
I see no obvious security conflicts. This runs fine when navigating through manually and recording. It is only during playback where this error occurs.

    Hi IndyJason,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
As you said that you could not playback the Active X control successfully in web performance test. I know that the ActiveX controls in your Web application will fall into three categories, depending on how they work at the HTTP level.
    Reference:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404678%28v=vs.110%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
I found that this confusion may be come from the browser preview in the Web test result viewer. The Web Performance Test Results Viewer does not allow script or ActiveX controls to run, because the Web performance test engine does not run the, and for security
    reasons.
