Test in Chrome?

Please forgive the newbie question, but how do I disable the built-in Flash plug-in inside Google Chrome (Mac) .. and test with Flash Player 11?
Thanks.

Hello
install the Flash Player "pi" (for all other browsers) version and copy&rename the two files.
Win7 x64 example:
from:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl
to:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\[VERSION]\gcswf32.dll
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\[VERSION]\flashplayercplapp.cp l
(Canary build)
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome SxS\Application\[VERSION]\gcswf32.dll
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome SxS\Application\[VERSION]\flashplayercplapp.cpl
Info: Google Chrome overwrites these files on every Chrome Update!

    Test from Chrome.

    Try enabling dmix: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Alsa#Dmix
    That will explicitly tell ALSA to mix channels instead of give exclusive access to one program at a time.
    If that fails, and you don't mind it, you can also install a full sound server like pulseaudio.  If you do that then make sure to also install pulseaudio-alsa for legacy compatibility.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pulseaudio
    Edit: dmix is supposed to be a default but try explicitly setting it.

  • I can't open a PDF file stored in dropbox or log in from Firefox. I've tested in Chrome so the files are there.

    I'm creating a funnel for a client and have uploaded a PDF file to her dropbox account. When I test the process in Firefox, I can't log in to her dropbox nor will the PDF file display when I test it from Firefox.
    When I switch to Chrome, I can both open her dropbox account without issue and open the individual PDF file without issue. Since I have no idea what browser her prospects are using, I'm doing some testing.
    If you need more info to troubleshoot, please let me know! I'm happy to provide whatever I can.
    Note: I can't log in to ANY dropbox account from firefox (including my own or those of other clients I work with).
    Laugh lots, Love more!

    For Firefox users, there might be a built in pdf viewer, or a preferred viewer that handles pdf files.
    I am not having any trouble logging in, so lets try this:
    * Remove any cookies from the cache: [[Delete cookies to remove the information websites have stored on your computer]]
    *[[Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings]] if there is stored user data that is removed in this process: [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]

  • Testing Google Chrome

    OK, I've tries Google chrome with the forum, and observed some issues. Since Chrome is in beta, they probably have some work to do, but maybe some minor tweaks in the forum code could also smooth things out. Maybe there are also some browser configurations that can help, I have not studied this.
    The "insert link" window does not work right. It is mostly blank.
    The "insert image" window is incorrectly sized, cutting of the buttons at the bottom (can be resized manually, though).
    It seems impossible to attach a VI, whenever I try, the submission of the post will fail later (tried twice). Other attachments (e.g. PNG) seem to work fine.
    Otherweise, it looks like a great browser. Most other things seem to work fine.

    Hi Christian,
    Did you take a close look at the EULA for Chrome? Not that I have but I was wondering if it reads like the rest of Goolges services were everything a user enters into their stuff supposedly belongs to Google. This would bring up an interesting rights battle if you posted something truly extraordinary to the forums using Chrome in this sense. If everything posted to the NI forums is the property of NI but if it was posted using Chrome and therefore property of Goolge....
     Who's property is it anyway?
    I guess with time I'll hear about this on the news sooner or latter.

  • Cross browser testing : Modifier Keys playback actions not working in chrome and Firefox

    Hi,
    In my work flow I have to select multiple items in list.So I have recorded 'Ctrl+Click' action to select list items.In Chrome and Firefox it is not selecting multiple Items.
    Even Ctrl+A,Ctrl+C,Ctrl+V also not working in chrome and Firefox.Complete modifier keys support is not observed in chrome and Firefox.Let me Know how to automate modifier keys actions in cross browser?
    Regards,
    Nagasree.

    Hi Nagasree,
    Welcome to MSDN forums.
    First,please make sure the Chrome and Firefox is supported by cross browser testing.
    Latest version of Chrome and Firefox supported by cross browser testing are Chrome version 38.0.2125.111 and
    Firefox 33.
    I doubt whether Chrome and Firefox in cross browser testing don’t support automating modifier keys or there is anything wrong on it if you are using supported browser. Since this issue is related to the Extensions tool
    Selenium components for Coded UI Cross Browser Testing, if possible, I suggest you post this
    issue here, click “Q AND A”, and then you could post this issue there, you would get dedicated
    support there.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Crystal Report 11 PDF report display error in IE9, Chrome and Firefox 4

    Hi,
    We have developed a Java EE application using Crystal Server 11.0 (Copyright © 2004 Business Objects) to generate PDF reports. All working well for the past few years on IE6 and IE7 under Windows XP Pro until we started to upgrade to Windows 7 and IE9.
    When trying to run the reports it will have the error message as follow:
      File does not begin with '%PDF-%'.
        LocalEWH3zy-d@i4
    I also tested on Chrome and Firefox 4 under Windows XP and it got the same error message. It seems like the PDF generated by the aged Crystal Server have some issues with the latest browsers.
    Thanks.
    -Rong

    Hi Ted, thank you for your response, but the previous post is actually the result of IE6, which is working fine. I confused myself alone the way.
    Here is the result of Chrome. It says "Information is needed before this report can be processed". The Content-Type is PDF, but the browser is looking for something before accepting this PDF file. The PDF file itself is not in the response stream.
    Thanks.

  • Fluid Grid not displaying correctly in Chrome

    I'm laying out a simple 3 column design using fluid grids in CS6.
    I want only one colum to show in mobile, with the other two hidden. Two columns should show in tablet, with the third hidden and all three columns should be visable in desktop mode.
    I'm currently only testing between chrome and safari as I just want to get the hang of the feature.
    When I preview in safari, everything works as it should but when I preview in chrome, the browser seems to ignore the desktop settings and shows a large version of the two column tablet design.
    I'm using 4, 8 and 12 columns respectivly in my fluid grids.
    Has anyone else had this issue? I haven't been able to find any references to a similar problem.

    Has anyone else had this issue?
    Nope.  You're the only one.
    Please show us your code.  My guess is that your media queries are messed up.
    How exactly are you defining the divs to show or not show?

    Seemed to work just fine when I tested the code (with my .swf). Tested in Chrome, FF, IE, Safari.
    Does your Chrome have the Flash plugin?
    But a couple of things..
    quotes missing here:
    margin= 0, auto;>
    Seems like you are trying to scale to exact fit?
    #flashContent { width:100%; height:100%; }
    <param name="scale" value="exactfit" />
    Won't work with pixel dimensions for the .swf:
    width="850" height="567"
    and <center> tag... set W/H params to 100% and remove <center> if you want to scale to exact fit 100% W and H
    Best of luck!

  • Safari - speed tests and pings

    Hi
    Not sure this is a Safari 6.x or 7.x problem as prior to upgrading to Mavericks I was experiencing similar issues.
    On our work network, 200MB leased line, we're connecting our Mac estate over CAT6 yet we're experiencing extremely slow loading and hanging with Safari.
    Having run some speed tests using other browsers and Network Utility it's apparent that there is an issue with Safari on upgraded machines and those 'out of the box' machines.
    Ping tests on Chrome and NU are approx 1-3ms which is what we would expect (PCs are always 1ms), however in Safari ping tests range from 30-500ms constantly. We cannot get it below 30ms.
    We have reset browsers, turned off extensions and still no joy.
    Anybody else noticed the difference in speed?
    Thanks

    I am guessing that you are running a 'broadband' speed-test. These run their tests either in Adobe Flash or Javascript, the web-browser itself cannot do 'pings'. The different therefore is more likely to be how fast either Javascript or more likely Flash runs in a particular browser.
    If you want to test a ping test at a computer level then you should either do this in Terminal.app by typing
    ping address.to.ping
    or use Network Utility which used to be in the Utilities folder but is now in /System/Library/CoreServices/Applications
    Note: Most broadband speedtest sites do not work well on corporate high-speed leased-lines like yours, they have been designed for testing ADSL level speeds of up to 20Mbps and not leased-lines of 100Mbps or more.
    I would not expect a ping response of below 10ms for any host outside your own local network no matter the speed of your link, however anything above 30ms would equally be considered slow for a leased-line. A mobile phone over a mobile data link would (alas) typically get much slower ping responses.

  • Chrome not loading images when website is online... loads them fine when working locally

    Hi, I'm working on a pretty straightforward website - basically just a series of images located on the page, with no effects etc. The images load fine when tested on chrome locally, but once the website is online, they do not load. see here for example
    Seems to work fine on other browsers.
    Thanks for the help!

    sorry, nevermind, seems to have suddenly started working of its own accord.

  • Can't test actual url and displays differently in ie7

    Hi, I am having a couple of problems in testing the current page I am working on in internet explorer. I am working using a Macbook Pro with OS X Lion.
    1. I am unable to test / preview the actual url using browser-lab, and all I can see are blank black or white pages. It is a public url and the website is built in Drupal. I am able to view another Drupal site I had created without problem. This only happens when I am testing using internet explorer, and for instance I can see the page fine when I test using Chrome 13.0 for windows. The url is http://ampleo.mx
    2. The second problem is that when I have been testing by previewing local source code using Firefox firebug, pretty much all of the content appears squashed to the left. However when I have viewed the page in a real version of IE 7 or in any Mac Browser, then I am not seeing the same behavior and the content is displayed normally horizontally.
    I am still quite new to web design so I would appreciate any thoughts on whether this is a problem with my code, or just with the way browserlab interprets pages.
    Thanks
    Simon

    I can reproduce #1. I'm not sure what's going on but we'll look into it in the new year.
    I'm not sure about #2. We've seen similar problems due to our testing at 1024x768 vs most people having greater resolutions. Can you drop your resolution to 1024x768, try it in your local browser, and if you don't see any issue with your page, attach a screenshot here?
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Slow page loading even though speed test is fine

    Hi all, I have noticed that pages and content are very slow to load over the last few days. I ran the speed test and the results are fine (37mb down 8mb up). I thought it may have been Firefox because it can play up. After testing with Chrome and IE9 I can confirm it is definitely not right.
    Anyone else having problems? I am on the Macclesfield exchange. Connected via ethernet directly to the HH3.

    Infinity fitted Tuesday. 37.8mb down, 1.8mb up. Pages are slower to load than before my upgrade ! As a non techy with computers, you must excuse any embarrassing blunders with technical issues, but, I have found if I use AltaVista instead of Google, everything is fine. If I type fast into the search bar on Google it can't keep up with me ! If I try to deleate the www entry a character at a time, it goes in fits and starts as it receeds back across the screen. I had no problems with the site till the upgrade. Is it just a problem with Google and the increased speeds or is that too simple an answer !!

  • Cross browser testing:Click action on UITestcontrol got using ExcuteScript API is not working.

    Hi,
    For one of the web control,I am using ExecuteScript API to get the UITestControl as explained in this link (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/visualstudioalm/archive/2013/01/18/introducing-jscript-execution-on-internetexplorer-and-crossbrowser-in-coded-ui-test.aspx
    )and trying to perform click action on the control.It is not performing the click action on the control but script status is success.
    Problem is seen only with specific Overload of Mouse.Click().Here I am constructing the control using bounding rectangle dynamically.
    The API I am using is
     Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UITesting.Mouse.Click(UITestControl, MouseButtons.Left, ModifierKey.None, clickablePoint );
    Point Caluculation is shown below:
    clickablePoint  = return new Point(boundingRect.Width / 5, boundingRect.Height / 4);
    I tried to debug the code and found that Selenium web driver is throwing null reference exception while using this API for Left button click action.Could you please check the problem and fix it.So that I can
    use this API as per my requirement.
    Regards,
    Nagasree.

    Hi Nagasree,
    Latest version of Chrome and Firefox supported by cross browser testing are Chrome version 38.0.2125.111 and
    Firefox 33. So please make sure the Chrome and Firefox is supported by cross browser testing
    Whether this API: Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UITesting.Mouse.Click(UITestControl, MouseButtons.Left, ModifierKey.None, clickablePoint ) worked fine with IE browser when
    you run this test?
    If the same API worked fine on IE browser but not on Chrome or Firefox browser, “Q AND A” tab in this link:
    Selenium components for Coded UI Cross Browser Testing is a better place for resolving this problem.
    It seems that you want to click the control using bounding rectangle, then you don't neet to use MouseButtons.Left and ModifierKey.None, you can use such API:
    Click(UITestControl, Point) or
    Click(Point) directly.
    You also can try to use the following code snippet, maybe it can help you.
    Rectangle r = TargetControl.BoundingRectangle.
    Mouse.Click(new Point(r.X + r.Width/2, r.Y + r.Height/2));

  • Adobe Flash & Javascript don't work even though Enabled

    Ever since what I think was either a Firefox upgrade (I don't know which one) or installation of Quicktime, my Adobe Flash Plugin is perpetually crashed and I cannot play any Flash content on any website. All that displays in place of the video is a gray screen with the sad-face Lego icon and the message: “The Adobe Flash Plugin has crashed. Please reload the page to try again.” (See attached image.) But it will not resolve when reloaded.
    No Flash videos on any sites work. HTML5 videos work on YouTube when tested, but non-HTML5 videos won't work.
    Also, my Javascript does not seem to be working since at least some displays requiring javascript don't work. Sometimes the display just doesn't work, and sometimes I get a message that javascript is disabled and must be enabled, but it is already enabled (set to “true” in about:config).
    I have spent days scouring every help forum entry I can find on troubleshooting Flash Player and Javascript. Everything on my end seems to be in order and I cannot find or fix either problem. I think it is possible the issue could have its roots in the fact that Javascript seems to not be working which may be preventing Flash Player content from working...??
    Also, Flash content does work in I.E. but not in Firefox (I do not have Chrome installed so did not test in Chrome). I have too many window tabs open in Firefox and can't switch to I.E. (nor do I like to use I.E.).
    PLEASE HELP as this is crippling for very important work deadlines I have.
    This is what else I know and have tried:
    I have a Toshiba Satellite C75D-A Laptop;
    Processor: AMD A6-5200 APU with Radeon HD Graphics; x64; 2.00 Ghz;
    RAM: 8 MB;
    OS: 64-bit system; Windows 8.1 (but some auto-check utilities detect it as 8.0 because it was upgraded.);
    Graphics Card: “Desktop Graphics” System – AMD Radeon HD 8400 (0x9830);
    Installed Graphics Driver Version: AMD 13.352.1004.1007 (Driver Date: 4/22/2014)
    My Device Manager graphics driver updater states: “driver software is up to date.”
    From the AMD website: the graphics driver auto-detect utility recommended the AMD Catalyst Driver (amd-catalyst-omega-14.12-without-dotnet45-win8.1-64bit.exe) I tried installing this driver, but it won't install. After trying to install, I got a message stating: “We are unable to find a driver for your system.” But Device Manager states I have a current driver, and my graphics card & driver seem to be working fine, so I do not believe this is part of the issue.
    I am using Latest Firefox version 35.0.1; and
    Using Latest Flash Player: 32-bit NPAPI Plug-in Version: 16.0.0.296; designated: “always activate” (Downloaded new update several times, including fresh install after uninstall; system & web address icons indicate Flash is enabled).
    I turned off hardware acceleration in FF Tools>Options>Advanced>General
    I disabled WebGL as explained here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
    I am using Ad-Block Plus which has never affected things in the past. I have not tried starting FF in Safe Mode because I believe I will lose all open tabs and not be able to recover them (I may have over 200 open). But disabling add-ons has no effect (I disabled all except for Sessions Manager in case of a crash). (My No-Script has been disabled for at least six months.)
    I have Windows Media Player and Quicktime installed.
    Quicktime is most recent upgrade (7.7.6) so should not be a problem according to:
    “QuickTime plugin takes over Flash” at:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Disabling_Protected_Mode_in_Flash_11.3
    (note underscores in place of spaces in string; underscores not insertable here)
    Disabling Quicktime had no effect in the prior version of FF (ver. 35.0), but in latest FF ver. 35.0.1, Flash videos only display a plain (blank) gray screen instead of the sad-faced icon and crash message.
    (I tried to uninstall Quicktime altogether, but was not able to due to Error codes 2502 & 2503. I tried troubleshooting that as well with no luck using methods successful for other programs, including here:
    http://www.fixkb.com/2014/01/error-2503-and-2502-when-uninstalling-on-windows-8.html;
    & here:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-winapps/re-internal-error-codes-2502-and-2503-for/ba5f2145-aa6e-4cc0-81a7-e4346f43b698.)
    Disabling my FF theme and using the default brought back the sad-faced icon and crash message in the place of videos on some YouTube pages, but not other YouTube pages (where video was still blank gray screen). It also enabled a still Flash image (an ad) to display on a different website page that previously had a Flash Plugin crash message. I have been using this same theme for a couple of years without previous issue. While turning it off did generate an effect on some still imagery, it didn't fix the video problem.
    I tried Disabling Protected Mode in Flash 11.3 as explained here:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Disabling_Protected_Mode_in_Flash_11.3
    (note underscores in place of spaces in string; underscores not insertable here).
    It did not solve the issue.
    I also deleted all storage & data in Flash Player as advised. This had no effect either.
    I've tried all solutions I've been able to find and am at a loss for what to try next. Please help and advise ASAP. Thank you!!

    I truely admire the efforts that have been made to make this work.
    "“We are unable to find a driver for your system.” "
    For it not installing, you need to follow these instructions to install them: see the comments: [http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_devices/windows-10-atiamd-display-drivers/50944d10-dde3-4e08-8244-d54eb2b1e7de] --> take warning though it looks like it has caused issues for others as well.
    Since it was working for some youtube videos and not others, there might be an issue with a particular video codec. DO you have OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. plugin?
    Is it possible to try Safe Mode after saving your session with [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/ Session Manager Addon]? IT would test hardware acceleration in Firefox.
    </blockquote>
    Thank you, guigs2! Sorry for my delayed reply...I didn't realize I hadn't gotten back to you. Update is that I did try a whole slew of other troubleshooting steps including starting FF in safe mode, to no avail. However, I was FINALLY (after months) able to solve this problem just today by pure chance!
    The problem was that hardware acceleration was enabled in the Flash settings. I had not been able to turn it off because I didn't have access to the Flash Player settings as long as the crash error message was visible, which was all the time! Today, by a sheer fluke, I saw a static picture in place of the crash message on a Flash video. I snagged the opportunity to call up the settings and turn off hardware acceleration, and it fixed the problem for my whole browser! This has been a frustrating issue because I did not have access to the settings utility as long as I had the crash message, which was always, so my Flash was crippled without the ability for me to fix it until pure luck gave me this window of opportunity.
    Does anyone know another way to access the settings utility if this ever happens again in the future? I could not find a way. (Incidentally, I had tried disabling hardware acceleration via my graphics driver settings, but it didn't fix the problem.) We need Adobe to allow some other way to access the Flash Player settings utility when this problem arises since they aren't accessible when there is a static crash message.
    Thanks again!

  • I can help with a buffering problem in a video-based eLearning..

    Hello,
    I hope I can give a little back here for once.  : )   I have a video-based eLearning that is hosted on a LMS that has been giving the users with low bandwidth a lot of problems.  I was doing some testing with Chrome Dev Tools today, and I think I find some info that could be of use to some people.  The eLearning is hosted on Moodle.
    Here is what I found :
    Contrary to what I believed, the Chrome browser (and it is probably the same with other browsers) will not download all of the files, or at least not all of the video files in a SCORM packet without the user first interacting with that video in some way.  As you see in the graphic, I first arrived at the intro video shortly before 2.5 minutes, and only then did the browser begin downloading this video.
    At about three minutes, see red line, I used the forward button to jump to the next video, and because the browser was not yet finished downloading the intro video, it was downloading two simultaneously.  This is when I started experiencing a buffering issue.
    A few seconds later, I used the slider in the progress bar to move to the 4th video, see blue bar, which "set off" the third video as well.  At this point my browser was trying to download four videos at once, which caused major buffering issues.
    This means, however, that jumping around an eLearning with several videos in it, even using the TOC or forward and backward buttons will cause all of the videos you "touch" to begin downloading, and if you have low bandwidth, they can be downloading simultaneously for a long time.
    Possible solution  --> Allow navigation only with with TOC and make it so the user can only go to the next slide/video after he has finished viewing the current one, ensuring,that only one video will be downloaded at once.  (Needs to be tested).
    Anyway, I hope this has provided some insight to those experiencing problems similar to this!

    Under the advanced tab in the button inspector you can set it to activate your subtitle stream.
