Tester needed - WinXP

Hi,
Wondering if someone can help me out and test something on Windows XP
and possibly also NT.
I know this works on Win 2000 and not on Win9x.
This is kind of a big download of a zip file with a windows installer inside.
I promise a million times over this won't put any registery crap on your computer. It will only populate the install directory and put a folder in start/programs NOTHING ELSE. Both things can easily be right click - delete - history.
The worst that can happen is after the splash screen a dll won't load
and you may have to ctrl.alt.delete to kill off the frozen splash screen.
The download URL is http://users.abac.com/GaryJones32/FreeMusicPlayer.zip
Thanks in advance to anyone who tries this.

One more thing -- let me know what java version you used as well.
Already tested on 1.3 and 1.4 with win 2000 and i had to make two seperate dll's to acomodate the difference between the two. All this is doing by the way is just trying to make the small window always on top by using native skin.

  • Pacman-color(-testing) needs to depend on "pacman=${pkgver}"?

    Hey,
So I've been thinking about this for some time now and I'd be interested in hearing other people's opinions about this. So my package pacman-color-testing currently depends on "pacman=${pkgver}" - meaning it requires the same version of pacman as the package itself - but the thing is: does it really need to?
I imagine keeping the pacman dependency in a single major version wouldn't produce any problems, eg. the current pacman-color(-testing) of 3.4.x would require this: depends=('pacman>=3.4' 'pacman<3.5'). This would also make updating easier.
At least the pacman change log here doesn't really show any "behavior compromising" changes between bug fix releases for pacman-color(-testing): http://projects.archlinux.org/pacman.git/tree/NEWS
But then what's other people's stance on this?
Last edited by algorythm (2011-03-08 15:53:21)

I assume you don't mean "sure, why wouldn't pacman-color* need to depend on "pacman=${pkgver}"" .

  • Adobe Air Tester Needed

    http://blogs.adobe.com/ashutosh/2009/04 … _pr_1.html
Looks like adobe is doing some new air stuff and needs tester. we should contact them and get some arch development set up, or some kind of cross distro installer, that way we dont have to do anything different than install a pkg or run a installer.

Free of charge, I don't think that Adobe is ever going to open any of their products .

  • Strategy for synchronizing tests [LV8] {WinXP]

I have two separate built applications now that need to be synchronized, i.e. - when one starts taking data the other should start as well. One test is getting data from a serial device and a DAQ board. The other test is getting data from a camera. I'm trying to decide if it's best to integrate them both in one application or have them synchronized somehow (via shared variables). There are times when both tests could still be used separately. If anyone wishes to wax philosophical about the pros and cons I'm all ears (or eyes I suppose).
    George

    Hi, George.
I'd combine the two VIs when you want the tasks synchronized and use the VIs separately when you want them to operate independently. (So ultimately you'd have three VI's: the combined one and the two singles.) If you were using a LabVIEW Real-Time system, it would be possible to communicate between the two with buffers and/or shared variable events, but that's a little like shooting a mosquito with a cannonball. Since your application sounds relatively simple, I'd just use regular DAQ triggering with the combined VI. Hope this answers your question!

  • Happy New Year! video experts-results of video conversion test need advice

In an effort to see learn what to do with this encoding and video compression I used Isquint to compress a DV file to save some drive space. I am looking for some type of format that is not as aggressive as what I see with this. My results were for a 35 second DV file it was 120.60 MB
Using Isquint with go nuts format (the best it can do)and no H.264 encoding the file was reduced to
a 10.3MB file with 2channel and a 2441 bitrate at 640x480 and it did not look very good. I recognize the compression but that much was too much
With go nuts video and H.264 encoding it came out with 2 channel 1511bit rate of course the same size and a 6.4mb file that was really bad the people in the background were almost unrecognizable.
Any suggestions on a format that will not compress as much? Or a program that does a great job transferring to a format that can later be used but with out as much compression. I would have been happy with half the size .
Hope everyone has a great new year!
    GE

compression is an 'art', .. when you have look at quality/sizes of commercial files as on apple.com, done with 10k$ compressors, handled by experts with years of expertisé ..
compression is a nice hobby, when you do it for its own sake .. compression/conversion is/should be ALLWAYS determined by 'use of file' .. e.g. it makes no sense at all, to 'crunch' a video to tiny pieces, when you plan to use it later for editing.. (most codecs are optimized for playback only.. not meant as edit-codec) ..
try the Expert settings in iSquint, esp. the bitrate.. this determines quality+size.
    here's a silly example:
same source, same codec, same res, same fps, just 'slightly different' bitrate..
have a look at Rat's fur.. no details, just 'Lego' ...
have fun with your tests ..

XP drivers from V6700TX will work for your model. Install Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH8 first and reboot before other drivers.

    Hi
I dont know which exactly notebook you has because there are many Satellite A60-xxx but I assume most of them have the same hardware configuration.
The fact is that the on this unit the Compact Flash card slot, smard card reader, SD-card slot are not available. You can use only a PCMCIA cards.

  • Satellite A210-106 PSAELE: Need WinXP Radeon HD 2400 driver that work

Hi can anyone tell me what kind of graphic card I have?
It says ATI Radeo HD2400, but those drivers not working when i download WXP Catalyst drivers from ATI.
So there must be more, a chipset, etc. I have PC Wizard, but not telling me much.
I downloaded the drivers in this thread from Rapidshare user and they did not work as well. Any help appreciated.
Note: I am not being difficult, but I need Windows XP for my work only. If i didn't I would accept Vista and not go through much trouble...
Please make XP drivers or at least point us in right direction.
I have spent more than 8 hours trying to get this to work and had to buy external wireless NIC because could not get Atheros to work....
And while we are at it, maybe you can tell me where to d/l Realtek ALC268 sound drivers. Realtek.com.tw doesn't have it. :(
    Andrew

    Hi mate,
did you already tried these sites:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/
    http://www.omegadrivers.net/
There you should find the drivers, otherwise you should wait since XP support is a little bit ..... when you know what I mean.
Regarding the realtek driver: Try these one from a Satellite A200. But I cannot guarantee that they work. But firstly uninstall the previous drivers and make sure all chipset drivers/tools are installed.

  • Bomberman game: testing needed

    Hi,
I have written a bomberman game and would appreciate any comment (bug report, install problems). You can download the game (open source) from http://studwww.rug.ac.be/~jpwinne/bombman.html

    I was reasonably impressed,
except there should be a one player mode, cause
no one else in my house is into games other
than solitaire and the like.Actually bomberman was never meant to be a single player game, beating up your friends is far more challenging than beating up a computerplayer. Making computer players intelligent is not that easy neither. I would have to read a book on AI first, I'm afraid ...
Good gameplay though. Funny sound effects. It's a good thing that there aren't a lot of people who understand Dutch ...
There seemed to be random explosions sometimes
(or do the power ups explode after a certain time?).There are four possibilities:
    1) you picked up the invisible bomb disease
    2) you picked up the farting disease/item and flames where created from your behind.
    3) the revenge bombs of the players you killed explode automatically after a number of seconds ( you can configure this with the crazy options)
    4) the arena fire comes after a configurable time (the grid turns yellow and background music starts): this fire goes up to down and left to right and faster and faster ...
Or did the explosions seem to be really "random" ? The power ups just disappear...

  • K8NGM2-FID / MS-7207 - Unable to install WinXP

    K8NGM2-FID / MS-7207 - Unable to install WinXP
Problem:  When attempting to install Windows XP Professional (original version prior to SP2 release), the system either hangs after the second reboot (when attempting to load for the first time) or blue-screens at some point during the initial setup (segment fault.)
    System Description:
    AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3800+ - MANCHESTER (dual core)
MSI K8NGM2-FID nVIDIA GeForce 6150 CHIPSET
    CRUCIAL 2GB (2 x 1024MB) PC3200 400MHZ CL3 184-PIN DDR DIMM(s)
    400W ps - Sparkle
no floppy, nothing fancy, no PCI cards, stock system
bios ver: 2.59 (I need winxp installed so I can use the live bios update)
    I am not overclocking.
    Details:
Tested with three different UltraATA IDE harddrives, capacities from 13.6 - 40 GB.
Tested with two different 80-conductor Ultra ATA cables.
I'm unable to get through a Windows XP installation.  I've eliminated the harddrive or cable as the culprit by testing with more than one KG component.  I can successfully boot from a Knoppix 4 live CD and the system will run overnight like that.
Does this motherboard not like UltraATA IDE drives?  I don't have any SATA drives to test an installation with.
    I ordered the Motherboard/CPU/Memory as a pre-tested kit.
    UPDATE:
Flash bios to 3.4 using A7207nms.340 from msi web site.  Did _not_ solve issue.  Also noted that when attempting to load WinXP in Safe Mode the last thing I see on the screen is loading Mup.sys then I get the PAGE_FAULT_IN_NOPAGED_AREA blue screen.

    > This error can be caused by a power supply that's too weak.
I researched the power supply prior to the purchase, selecting one that was reported by another person to work with the board.  I have spare KG supplies that I can test with though.
    > Also, can you try with one dimm? Test your RAM with memtest86 to make sure
    > it's okay.
I removed one of the sticks, checked bios to ensure system corrected the RAM count, and then started over with the WinXP installation, which still resulted in PAGE_FAULT_IN_NOPAGED_AREA near completion.
    > By the way: don't flash your bios with the LiveUpdate utility. Always
    > flash bios in DOS mode, preferably using a CD.
Okay, I will go ahead and update the bios with the DOS utility.
    > Also, why do you want to flash bios? If all works when Windows is
    > installed, flashing your board can cause problems you don't have now.
Often, with a mobo updating the bios will allow windows to detect mobo resources it was unable to do before.  The manufacturer most often ships prior to all the bugs being worked out of the bios.  PC builders and vendors recommend using the latest stable bios.
Although there is something to be said for "If it's not broke, don't fix it.  However, mine is broke to begin with. If I have to RMA this board, I will not be exchanging it for an identical model, or another MSI board.
    > Edit: what other hardware do you use? Videocard, opticals, etc.
Video is onboard.  Everything is pretty stock.  The keyboard and mouse are on a test bench that gets used for dozens of other systems.
I have to say I long for the simple standardized motherboards of the past.  I don't mind setting jumpers but I am not impressed with the inferior quality and overwhelming diversity in today's computer hardware.

    Step -4

We would like to know whether after each step do we have to do any kind of testing on the Oracle Application Instance and the database?
    Please advise.
    Regards
    Mohammed.

We would like to know whether after each step do we have to do any kind of testing on the Oracle Application Instance and the database? There is no such a list. However, you can refer to the documents referenced in each task above and it should cover if any testing need to be done or not (for example, the Developer Patchset doc). For the rest of the docs you will have to do your regular testing (test the application/database and make sure it is working properly).
Also, make sure you review (Known issues on Top of 11i.ATG_PF.H. delta.6 (RUP6) - 5903765 [ID 459353.1]).

    Dear All,
    This is Priya.
We are using ODI 11.1.1.6 version.
In my ODI project, we have separate installations for Dev, Test and Prod. i.e. Master repositories are not common between all the three. Now my code is ready in dev. Test environment is just installed with ODI and Master and Work repositories are created. Thats it
Now, I need to know and understand what is the simple & best way to import the code from Dev and migrate it to test environment. Can some one brief the same as a step by step procedure in 5-6 lines?
    Some questions on current state.
    1. Do the id's of master and work repositories in Dev and Test need to be the same?
    2. I usually see in export file a repository id with 999 and fail to understand what it is exactly. None of my master or work repositories are named with that id.
    3. Logical Architecture objects and context do not have an export option. What is the suitable alternative for this?

If it is not the 1st time then create scenario of specific packages and export/import them to QA. In case of scenario you need not to bother about model/datastores. keep in mind that the logical schema name should be same in QA as used in your DEV.

  • How do I set execution path in VAPI-XP-TEST?

    Hi,
I have created a VAPI-XP-TEST which calls my project's executable from it's Debug folder.
I am setting the path of the executable via Parameters.
My project has a configuration file which reads from some input files. I have given the relative path of the files in the configuration.
The relative path reads as ..//..//Input
So, the test needs to go 2 levels back from the "Debug" folder and get the contents of the "Input" folder.
My project runs fine as is.
However, when I hook up this exe to a VAPI-XP-TEST, the relative path accesses the install location of ALM instead of my Project's debug folder. Hence, the test fails as it is unable to find the Input folder.
How can I specify in my test script or through a setting, to take the path as my project's debug folder?
I have tried the following command just before I trigger the XTools.Run command, but it did not work.
Directory.SetCurrentDirectory(path)  - where path is the path to my project's Debug folder.
    Please help!

No, that's not quite what our friend Apple Certified was saying. In summary (from someone who has ballsed this exercise up a few times now):
    1. Move your apple loops folder to the external drive. You'll then need to open logic and drag the loops folder on to the loops browser to make it re-index them.
    2. You can move the EXS samples to the ext drive as suggested via the use of aliases. Do NOT move the sample instruments folder.
    3. You can move the projects and related audio files to an external hard drive if you wish.
    4. Be careful moving garage band instruments. You can move them in the same way you moved the EXS sounds, except for the Hybrid synthesizers. If you move them you'll have trouble later.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I've mis-stated anything, but from my experience those are the main points to focus on. Hope that helps.
