Testing builds in iOS Simulator

Second question....decided to create a new thread.
I tested a source code on the iOS Simulator that comes with xcode and I can't seem to move the main object in the game. It is supposed to bounce up and down and move left to right from platform to platform but I can't seem to click on it or move it. I have the feeling that I have to test the game on an actual iOS device to play it because it might involve tilting motion instead of actual tapping/clicking. Is there a way that I can "tilt" the simulator?

Hello,
thanksk so far. I can now create an ANE, hopefully it is correct...
Now, while trying to use it in my mobile application, calling the Constructor of my SWC interface > call initNativeExtension() I get an:
Type Error #1009 cannot access a property or method of a null object reference
It seems that my code cannot load the ANE because I cannot instatiate the extension object.
Can you help me ?

  • Error when trying to build to iOS

I am using Flash Buidler 4.7 on a Mac OS X 10.7 with latest java version 1.7 (64bits), I am trying to build some samples provided on this page:
    http://gaming.adobe.com/getstarted/
I can test on the AIR simulator, but when I try to build on iOS simulator or device, I get the following error:
Error occurred while packaging the application:
Error: This Java instance does not support a 32-bit JVM.
    Please install the desired version.
I don't really understand the error, does it means I need to remove the java version and install another one? And old one or a 32bit one? I'm not sure
I've googled but didn't find a proper answer, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Found on the Console this:

I set the path to productStore.ane file in ActionScript settings, but I dont use it in the project.
I have locked buttons 'Debug>Debug movie>On iOS Simulator' and 'Controll>Test movie>On iOS Simulator'

Same problem here. I even reinstalled Xcode and the iOS SDK (now 8).
If I change the path from what I think it must be to:
    .....Xcode > Contents > Applications > iOS Simulator.app
I get an  ERROR message telling: SDK is missing GPL component
The provided path points to llvm-gcc

  • Testing adobe air applications with fake apple certificate in iOS simulator running in a hackintosh

I can compile an Adobe Air application on windows with a fake apple certificate. Can I test this application in iOS Simulator running on a hackintosh? Or is the simulator blocking testing of IPA outside from XCode ie: it's not a standalone simulator for IPA files. Are there any affordable web service for testing IPA with a true emulator or real device? I'm asking this because Flash Builder doesn't provide a true simulator, it lacks essential API functions such as NativeWindow.

  • Do I need to pay $99/year per employee just to test web pages on IOS simulator?

Hi there, I run a small web development shop with 5 employees. We all bought Xcode through the app store and have been using the iOS simulator to test web pages and troubleshoot problems with our customers sites on iPhones and iPads.
I just upgraded to Mountain Lion, and it seems I lost my iOS simulator.  I tried to install it through XCode again, and it says I need a developer account, which is $99/year.
We don't develop apps, we just use the simulator to view websites locally and on the web.  Does this mean if I want all of my employees to be able to just simply use the simulator to view web pages, that I have to pay $500 per year to Apple?  Am I missing something here?  Why could we use the simulator's basic features for free under Snow Leopard, but not under Mountain Lion with the new version of the simulator?
Please tell me I'm an idiot and am just missing something about how to install it or configure it.  Thanks so much for your help!

See, I am an idiot.  It was right there.  Somehow I think Alfred lost how to launch the simulator in the update to Mountain Lion. Since I couldn't launch it like I used to, I dug around until I found the Preferences > Downloads screen and had the option to install "iOS 5.0 Simulator" which is when I was prompted to get a developer license.
I never found the Xcode > Open Developer Tool method of locating it.
Anyway, thanks so much for your time!

  • Is it possible to test a DPS app in the IOS simulator

Does anyone know if it's possible to test a DPS app in the IOS simulator? We're trying to remain accessible to iPad 1 users for as long as possible) and to be able to test IOS 5, 6 and 7, in both retina and non-retina resolutions, will mean I'll need 5 ipads. I've only got two
    Cheers,
    Keith

Sorry for the delay in replying.
The IOS simulator appears to respect the DPI information for displays, even going as far as to switch the scaling setting for retina-enabled virtual IOS devices when you move the simulator from a high-DPI display to a regular display. As I have both, I'd get a reasonable facsimile.
Unfortunately there's no way to make IPAs run in the simulator -- as I've now discovered, it's not emulating the ARM environment and apps have to be compiled for the simulator to use it for testing.
    I'll have to go shopping...

  • Flash CC 2014 14.1.0.96 Crashing on attempt to debug in iOS Simulator

Just like the title says, Flash CC 2014 14.1.0.96 is completely crashing every time I try and debug my project in the iOS simulator via the Debug > Debug Movie > On iOS Simulator command. I have XCode version 6.1 installed. The simulator never opens - Flash crashes while the "Publishing..." progress bar is showing, after about 5 seconds.
I've tried the following iOS Simulator SDK paths in the Air 14.0 for iOS Publish settings:
    /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SD Ks/iPhoneSimulator.sdk/
    and
    /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SD Ks/iPhoneSimulator8.1.sdk/
But both cause Flash CC 2014 to crash completely.
I should note that Publishing directly to my iPad works properly. Flash only crashes when trying to debug in the simulator.
The crash generates a rather lengthy error report. Here's the top part of it:

    Hi All,
Thanks for your patience. All the issues related to iOS simulator, XCode 6.x have been fixed in latest release of FlashPro CC 2014 (Build No. 14.2.0.20) which was released yesterday.
Requesting you to please update and try and let us know if you still face any issues.
You can update your Flash CC 2014 build by just going to Help>Updates or through Creative Cloud App.

  • Debug/Run for iOS simulator and Retina iPad

Even in the latest beta 2 releates, the dropdown for "Default Device" includes "iPad", "iPhone", "iPhone (Retina)" but does not include "iPad Retina".  Seems like adding the "iPad Retina" woud be a matter of passing the correct flag to the iOS Simulator and should be quick and easy?  When can we expect this?

    Hi ,
Its a valid request. Please log an Enhancement request using the below link.
    http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/login.jsp
Meanwhile you can try this workaround:
    1.Open iOS simulator.
2.Choose Hardware->device from iOS simualator menu to the device on which you want to test your application.
3.Launch your application on iOS simulator from the Flash Builder.(Selecting the device on Flash Builder has no effect if the simulator is already running).
    Thanks,

  • Xcode IOS Simulator Error

I'm currently using Xcode 3.2.6 on Snow Leoperd. I downloaded everything sucessfully, and it worked great for a couple of hours. Than all of a sudden I try to test a iPhone application in IOS Simulator, (I hit "build and run") and in Xcode I get a message saying "Error from debugger. Failed to launch simulator. Operation Failure with underlying error (enter some random error number here)" My question is how can I fix, and or reinstall THE IOS SIMULATOR. I am not willing to reinstall Xcode 3.2.6 and any other software for 8+ hours  just to fix a single issue. Also I get this pop-up box in IOS Simulator when I open it seperatly from Xcode saying something like "The IOS Simulator has to be relaunched " Any ideas would be helpful.

This is a USER forum.  You need to discuss this on the DEVELOPER forum.

  • IOS Simulator failed to install the application

I just installed OS X Mavericks then downloaded XCODE. Just to test it, I created a Single View Controller application. I went to the storyboard and added a label just so I could see something come up when I would run the app. I did not add any code. I ran the app which builds fine, but I then get a IOS Simulator failed to install the application. Rememer, this is a clean install of Mavericks, a clean install of XCODE and the first app created. I repeated this for a Master-Detail application and get the same result. I did not change any settings in XCODE from that which is installed by default. Just wanted to go through a build and run to verify things before I start writing a real app.
I checked the forums which talk about telling the IOS Simulator to Reset Content and Settings. This does not resolve it. I get a black simulator screen. There was other talk about removing a file: ~/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator
but that file does not exist. The forums also talk about building IOS 6 apps and then having a problem after building for IOS 7. But again, no default parameters were changed and it is building an IOS 7 app for the first time and has only been generating IOS 7 apps.
Any ideas why the simulator won't load any of the simple apps?

Since everything else I tried had failed, I uninstalled XCODE, reset the Mac then re-installed XCODE and the apps all started loading properly into the simulator. After I installed OS X Mavericks the first thing I did was install XCODE and made no configuration changes to it. Yet I had the issue reported. But now with reloading XCODE all seems fine.

  • Is there a way to back up data from the ios simulator

I have an Ipad app and I want to see if you can back up the data. Is there a way you can do this using the ios simulator and loading all of the data that you have on it onto the computer then back onto the ios simulator.
I am using an sqlite database to store my data and I have the app loaded onto an ipad

If you want to back up the data for purposes of your development, see:
    http://www.raywenderlich.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=75
If you want to test backup of your app so that you know if it works for users, I don't believe that's possible. You'll probably need to use real hardware. But you can ask in the developer forums available either in the Communities or in your iOS Developer Program account and see if someone knows a workaround.
    Regards.

  • XCode 5.1 updated and now I can't debug AIR apps on iOS Simulator anymore

Today XCode updated itself to version 5.1, with new iOS 7.1 platform support. It updated itself without asking permission, and now I can't run my AIR apps on the iOS simulator anymore. All my apps fail with the following error:

I use AIR SDK 4.0.1628 (the latest version according to the SDK download page today), and it doesn't make a difference if I choose another simulator version (7.0 and 6.1 fail the same way).
I'm developing in Flash Builder 4.7, on OS X 10.9.2
Any ideas of how to fix this? Will using the AIR 13 beta help?
    Thanks, Frank

Thanks for the steer Jason that worked,
So that would be Apache Flex 4.12 using Flex installer 2.7 will bring the same benefits of AIR SDK for Flex 13...... I basically have to use an installer from a third party to make the commercial product I pay for work to solve the precise problem its sold as solving.
It's like buying a *******' drill you have to put together yourself.
I'm gonna get this build finished, then sneak into Flash Builders room while it's having a sleep after a big dinner and smother it with a pillow. It's the kindest thing to do. Ha!
    @DavidDragon,
    Follow these steps:
    http://flex.apache.org/doc-getstarted.html
However just make sure you use the latest version [4.12.0]

I've read several different forums on Adobe and I see suggestions to remove Java 7 in favor of Java 6 (this isn't really a solution). I see to overlay Air SDK 3.4+ because Flex SDK 4.6 that comes with FB 4.7 is using Air 3.1. This didn't work.

I had to overlay the 3.5 Air SDK over 2 locations in the FB 4.7 app.
/Applications/Adobe Flash Builder4.7/sdks/4.6.0 - this was so that my projects all have 4.6.0 + 3.5 Air. Then I overlayed
/Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.7/eclipse/plugins/com.adobe.flash.compiler_4.7.0.349722/AIRSDK - This is where the tools compile and cause the main problem.
    I hope this helps you.
