Testing WFs in CUP for different environments

Hi,
We have different WFs for provisioning in a SAP System for each environment (one WF for DEV, other for QA and other for PROD). Therefore application is included under initiator definition.
For testing purposes, we would like to test all three WFs but without being connected to QA and PROD.
We were thinking in creating three connectors (D, Q and P) poiting all three to the same Backend DEV System.
Has any of you done this? Have you experiment any problem by pointing the same backend system with different connectors ID?
Many thanks in advance. Best regards,
   Imanol

That should not be a problem at all.
just change the host/client/system ID data in the connector definition.
Frank.

  • ClickOnce for different environments

    Hello,
Currently we have a WPF application and we want to use ClickOnce for the installation. We know how to deploy using ClickOnce in development environment. But we want to know how to deploy in different environments like UAT/Pre-prod and Prod. We are planning
to create a msi using WIX. Can you please tell us on how to modify the installation folder URL for different environments using WIX(we need this to do during installation) ?
    Thanks

    Hi Sab Venkat,
I'm afraid that the WIX is not supported in the MSDN Forum since this is a third party product. I suggest you create a new thread in
the WIX Forum where you can get supports.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • How to Configure Adapter for different environments?

    Hi
I wanted to know solution to a pratical problem. If a communication channel is created by configuring a adapter, how is the configuration managed for different phases of the life cycle  i,e when it goes from development to QA to Production. A adapter may need to be configured differently depending upon the environment it is in. I hope one doesn't have to change it every time it is taken from one environment to another. Is there any concept like properties file in XI?
    Vijay

    HI,
In general the Same evironment should be in both Dev and QA and also in Prod .
Whatever we developed in Dev environment , if you transport it to QA , the same should work, similarly in Prod also.
We have certain fecilities like cutomising the Communication channel with the Communication Channel Template. With this we can configure as per our needs.
Eventhough it is not sufficient to meet your BS requirement , then we need to have
Dynamic configuration see the below link for more details

  • Using Test Setting file to run web performance tests in different environments

    Hello,
I have a set of web performance tests that I want to be able to run in different environments.
Currently I have csv file containing the url of the load balancer of the particular environment I want to run the load test containing the web performance tests in, and to run it in a different environment I just edit this csv file.
Is it possible to use the test settings file to point the web performance tests at a particular environment?
I am using VSTS 2012 Ultimate.
    Thanks

Instead of using the testsettings I suggest using the "Parameterize web servers" command (found via context menu on the web test, or via one of the icons). The left hand column then suggests context parameter names for the parameterised web server
URLs. It should be possible to use data source entries instead. You may need to wrap the data source accesses in doubled curly braces if editing via the "Parameterize web servers" window.

    Hello Emil,
      Thank you for your response.
We have SAP PI 7.11 and we did get it to work with SPNego (Kerberos token) for an SSO interface from a .Net web client using an ActiveDirectory User. It was NOT an easy task, but it worked.
The problem we are facing is that when we setup the Authentication Stack for the XISOAPAdapter component in the NWA as instructed by SAP to support BASIC Auth AND SPNego, the old .Net clients that do not FORCE the Basic Auth try to connect with an NTLM Token (and this doesn't work)
After their first request they receive a response from PI with:
    www-authenticate: Basic realm="XISOAPApps"
    www-authenticate: Negotiate
Then they choose to send NTLM Token instead of the Basic. This very simple to fix, by forcing the .Net client to send Basic or Kerberos. But we can not change the client side as they are in production env. for some time now, and we have over 200 interfaces with several applications, the impact is quite big...if you know what I mean...
So I thought that maybe it was possible to do some Z XISOAPAdapter component parallel to the original and have two different Auth Stacks.
We have opened an OSS with SAP and we are exchanging msgs for some time now. I'll let you all know how this ended...
    Regards.

  • Using same Context for different phy. environments

    Hi,
i have a small question regarding contexts in ODI. Hope someone can help me.
    Following situation:
We have 3 databases with same db object structure on three different servers and want to integrate them into one target structure.
Step1: Initialize target structure (truncate table etc.)
Step2: Load data from first Database
Step3: Load data from second Database
Step4: Load data from third Database
We want to use the same interface for all of them in order to keep it simple and avoiding duplicate interfaces. So i think we need something like a context/server change during execution. Is this possible to use the same interface for serveral environments and how?
    thx, for your help
    best regards,
    Kai

    Hi Kai,
Please, take a look into the post http://odiexperts.com/?p=652 maybe it can help you a little....
And the answer to you questio is YES. That is one of the context functions.
Just create one context to each database and execute the same interface, but at each context...
    Does it help you?

  • Test variants for different AUT variants

We are developing eclipse plug-ins which shall be used in different product variants.
So we have to test certain features in the context of different AUTs.
Therefore we need test cases where the script is exactly the same, but the Contexts have to be flexible. For the different AUT variants we need e. g. different workspaces.
How can we solve this problem?
In principle it goes in the same direction as the Super Context. But we do not want to execute test variants with the same AUT, but for different AUTs.

    Hi,
I found out that Launch-Configurations can be used to select test cases, see http://support.xored.com/support/solutions/articles/3000024413-how-to-set-which-aut-test-case-is-for-
However this does not solve my issue when running maven tests (without launch configurations).
I would like to be able to add a test several times to my test suite, each time with a different AUT. So would be great to be able to specify the AUT in the test suite, i.e. to manage multiple AUTs in it.
    Currently this seems not possible.

  • Sender SOAP Adapter - how to avoid changes of URL for diferent environments

    Dear experts,
we have a concern with transports of PI objects in our environment.
    Situation:
When we transport SOAP Sender objetcs in PI from Dev to Test the URL (Endpoint) changes automatically the hostname and the business system (target system in SLD). For example:
In Development to call the Web Service (Sender SOAP Adapater):
    http://sappid1.evonceib.local:50100/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?senderParty=&senderService=EvonceOSB_PEMP_D&receiverParty=&receiverService=&interface=PEMP_PagadoresMaintain_Async_Out_WS&interfaceNamespace=urn%3Aonce%3Asppemp%3Amanagedatosdepagadorpa_in_pemp
In Test to call the Web Service (Sender SOAP Adapater):
    http://sappit1:50100/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?senderParty=&senderService=EvonceOSB_PEMP_T&receiverParty=&receiverService=&interface=PEMP_PagadoresMaintain_Async_Out_WS&interfaceNamespace=urn%3Aonce%3Asppemp%3Amanagedatosdepagadorpa_in_pemp
    Problem:
The consuming side only wants to have one endpoint and don't want to touch the development when transporting the consumer. Generally to find a work around via DNS aliases for the hostname should solve the prefix of the URL, but how to handle the difference of Business Systems senderService=EvonceOSB_PEMP_D and senderService=EvonceOSB_PEMP_T in the URL?
In the SLD I can not maintain two BS with the same name, when I do not define a transport target the import fails.
So anybody has an idea how to get exactly the same URL for diferent environments?
    Thank you in advance,
    Best Regards,
    Karsten Blankenstein

    Hi ,
It is recommended to use different environmemt for Dev,testing,Production. So your PI server host name and port will be different for every environment.
    So URL will differ.
however if you dont want to change Business system Name then go for BUSINESS SERVICE/COMPONENT instead of BUSINESS SYSTEM. It will be same in every environment and also dont need to maintain anything in SLD

  • How to automate the build of CompositeApplication for different environment

    Hi,
I have a scenerio where i have to automate the build process of composite application.
    For Example :
I have a Composite application currently configured for my DEV Environment. I have two more environments UAT, and IST on which the same Composite Application should be deployed. The environment details such as 1) Host Name , 2) Port Number , for UAT and IST are different.
I need to create an automation script which takes in the different environment details and builds the CompositeApplication Project.
Please help, if you have any solution or Please provide pointers.
    Thanks
    yuvaraj

    Hi yuvarag,
I take it that you're working in a 5.1.3 environment. I was in a similar situation, and although I wasn't able to automate the process as I would have liked, I was able to make some modifications to the build process that made it acceptable.
For one thing, our QA dept would not allow us to build separate ear files, using different environments, for QA and production. They were willing to sign off on the QA file that they had tested, but as far as they were concerned (and I fully agreed) they had not tested a new aer file build for the production environment. I was able to convince them (and myself) that using the iConfigure tool to modify the settings of the ear file was a safe way to create the production file from the QA file. This also removed any possibility of including new code into a build with the production environment.
Although it didn't get automated, I did set up a "build" user on the box that housed our repository. All builds for deployment to QA were performed by logging in as the build user to perform the build. I also made a few modifications to the build scripts that come with the commandlinecodegen tool to simplify the process. I could probably have automated the build by adding a cron entry to kick off the build script. Automating the iConfigure step would be much more difficult. But if you are free to build fresh ears for production, then you should be able to automate the process with cron, and a few tweaks to the commandlindgodegen tool.

  • How to achieve Incremental deployment of Code Files to different environments of windows azure using TFS and Visual Studio ?

    Hi
We are new to Windows azure and are developing a web application. In the beginning of the project , we have deployed complete code using Sitefinity Thunder to different environments which actually publish complete code. But now as we are in the middle of development
, we are just required to upload any new files created which can be quite less in numbers (1 or 2 or maybe few). Now if we deploy with thunder , it publishes all files and then deploys complete code which takes good amount of time. Hence we are thinking to
attach each Azure Cloud Service which is actually a different environment like staging, UAT to a TFS branch and then just check in code from local development machine to TFS and then deploy only checked in files to azure environment linked to TFS.
I hope this possible but if you can help send some links where I can see how to achieve this , that will be helpful.
Also I would like to know whether a single cloud service can be linked to a single TFS branch or multiple cloud service can be linked to a single TFS repository? Why I am asking is – because we want to deploy a checked in files revision number to a staging
cloud service and then will test there and then if everything works well then will be required to deploy these revision files to the next cloud UAT cloud service and then production cloud service. Please help.

    Hi,
We can use TFS to manage our azure cloud service application code, refer to the following to get more information about how to deploy sitefinity to azure.

  • Best practice to maintain code across different environments

    Hi All,
We have a portal application and we use
    JDEV version: 11.1.1.6
    fusion middleware control 11.1.1.6
In our application we have  created many portlets by using iframe inside our jspx files and few are in navigation file as well and the URL's corresponding to these portlets are different
across the environments (dev, test and prod). we are using subversion to maintain our code .
problem we are having is: Apart from changing environment details while deploying to Test and prod, we also have to change the portlet URL' s from dev portlet URL's to corresponding env manually.
so is there any best practice to avoid this cumbersome task? can we achieve this by creating deployment profile?
    Thanks
    Kotresh

    Hi.
Put a sample of the two different URLs. Anyway you can use EL Expression to get current host instead of hardcoded. In addition, you can think in using a common DNS mapped in hosts file for all environments.
    Regards.

  • Maintaining multiple universes for separate environments

I know this is a basic question, but are there guidelines on how to manage separate universes for different versions of the same physical database structure?  For example, what's a good way to manage universes for separate test environments where the table owner/qualifier is different for each environment (i.e. test1.tablename, test2.tablename, test3.tablename, prod.tablename).

There are a couple of options that I will share with you.
Option one is the least work on the BOBJ side and the most work on the DBA side. The DBA must create an account with access only to the required tables (or views). This means that account does not require the qualifier (test1.table_name) and instead can reference only by table_name. Now there is no issue when migrating from test1 to test2 to prod.
Unfortunately, our DBA team didn't like that option. So I created a short VBA script, hosted in Excel, that we use to update our universe as we move it from one environment to another. We've been using it for years now, and it has been working fine. However, starting with BOBJ 4.0 they removed the option of VBA / SDK scripting from the universe, so I'm not sure what we're going to do when we get to that version.
If you're interested in having a look at the script, I've posted it on my blog here:

    Hi
We had the same problem - how to deploy a number of identical applications, using each their own db.
    (for training).
The solution we used is to wrap the entire application into different applications by using a very small
module called KURSUS01, KURSUS02 etc, that did nothing but call the start procedure of the main app.
Then in the dbsession connect, we made a call appname to get the application name, and appended the
first 8 chars to the dbname. Thus our dbnames now points to logicals name: rdbdataKURSUS01, rdbdataKURSUS02 etc.
All this allows us to deploy the identical apps in the same env, or change one version, and run both the old
and new program on the same pc and server at the same time (eg. KURSUS01 and KURSUS02).
I also think this is a kludge - but it works nicely!

    Hi All
We have a number of different business clients all willing to use our
    application.
The (forte) application is to run on our machines etc for these (business)
    clients.
All (business) clients will have their data kept in separate Oracle DBs
    (instance).
The problem now is that the entire (forte) application is written using
    DBSessions.
Now, depending on what business client needs to be serviced (so to speak) we
need to attach to the right DB - or use the "right" SO.
The two options we can think of are:
    Option1:
Programatic change to somehow "know" what (business) client (DB) I'm talking
about and then use the right DB.
    Pro:
Only one forte environment to maintain
Can run multiple (business) clients on same PC at the same time
    Con:
    Requires many program changes
    bending O-O rules(?)
can't dynamically name SOs so can it be done at all? (ResourceMGRs maybe?)
    Option2:
Use separate environments! One for each business client.
    Pro:
More defined separation of app and data,
    SLA-easy
    Con:
    Maintain "n" number of environments
Can only run the application for one environment (business client) at a time
on one PC - Big Negative here!
Not knowing any feasible solution to option 1 (without much code changes and
developer moaning) I would go for option two; as I have already worked on
multi-environment setups on VMS back at the Hydro (hi guys).
I would appreciate any comments from anyone who has solved this problem.
    How, Why Pro Con etc.

    TIA,

  • Doing the same task for different data.. Do I need Queues? How to use them if yes?

    Hello all,
I have created a VI which is getting data from some FTP server and then after comparing with the HDD specified folder copy the missing data from the FTP ... Description is also in the VI. There are few things I need to ask.
    1) The email sending VI gives error 1172..What could be the reason .. is it firewall.. or is there any mistake in the code?
    2) As you people are experts so I really like any suggestion to improve the VI..
    3) The most important .. Currently this VI can only perform the whole task for one FTP folder. Actually my task is I need to check for 4 different FTP folder on different servers..its not 4 different folder in one FTP .. its 4 different FTP.Now my question is how I can do this: First it compare and copy from FTP1.Then FTP2... and so on.. How can I change the data for the cluster for different FTPs? Do I need to use queues? If yes how because I don't have any experience with queues.
I will really appreciate is someone can either provide me the relevant example or can give me some idea.
The main VI is the 'TASK START'.VI please find the attached files.
    Thanks

    Hi Peter,
Thank you very much for your reply. I have understood your idea but there are few problems.
Please see the attached "Final test.vi".. actually my top level vi should be like this.. due to this reason I need to develop the cluster like one with name "Settings" as shown in Enum FTP events.vi.. In this cluster all the data types are not constants (but can be set as constants)  and further all of them are not of same type so whenever I try to create as you created I have got error, wire broken..so what do you think i should do.. In this cluster there are different types of data .. string, path, numeric, array and a cluster with name file properties also... can't figure out what to do..I know things are little scattered and wiered but due to lack of experience, I guess, I am now a little bit confused for this matter. I
hope guys here in the forum will help me as you guys always did.
