Maintaining multiple universes for separate environments

I know this is a basic question, but are there guidelines on how to manage separate universes for different versions of the same physical database structure?  For example, what's a good way to manage universes for separate test environments where the table owner/qualifier is different for each environment (i.e. test1.tablename, test2.tablename, test3.tablename, prod.tablename).

There are a couple of options that I will share with you.
Option one is the least work on the BOBJ side and the most work on the DBA side. The DBA must create an account with access only to the required tables (or views). This means that account does not require the qualifier (test1.table_name) and instead can reference only by table_name. Now there is no issue when migrating from test1 to test2 to prod.
Unfortunately, our DBA team didn't like that option. So I created a short VBA script, hosted in Excel, that we use to update our universe as we move it from one environment to another. We've been using it for years now, and it has been working fine. However, starting with BOBJ 4.0 they removed the option of VBA / SDK scripting from the universe, so I'm not sure what we're going to do when we get to that version.

    What is the bussiness reason for multiple addresses for the same vendor?
    If the vendor maintains several different physical locations at different addresses, then they should be created as different vendor master records. Then, if they all use the same payment office, they can be partnered to the same invoicing vendor.
    If you need to add a seperate address for the supplier location, payment location, billing location, etc, then you must create each of them using the correct account group and use partnering to tie them all together.
    Also, there is a way to maintain multiple addresses for the same vendor - but this is used for maintaining different international versions of the same address. (See the international button) - which requires some configuration in central address management.
    Or,
    Go for one-time-vendor concept else it is not possible .
    Also,
    Partner function can be used to maintain different address.
    This is the advantage of keeping the partner function in vendor account groups.
    You create different vendor codes for different addresses and assign the same.

  • Git - maintain two branches for separate kernel26 packages?

    Hi, I'm maintaining two kernel26 packages on the AUR (kernel26-ice and kernel26-rt-ice). I'm wondering whether git would be suitable for maintaining a repo for both packages.
    kernel26-rt-ice is just derivative from kernel26-ice, but is currently very very left behind since the -rt patch devs haven't released since 2.6.33. This may or may not change in future, but the resulting difference between the PKGBUILDs increases my maintainance time.
    Previously I just had a small script which copied the kernel26-ice files to another folder, some sed hackery to change names/configs etc. Now I'm wondering if I could set up git branches to do the same. My idea is as follows:-
    1. Two branches named kernel26-ice and kernel26-rt-ice
    2. Changes made in kernel26-ice (the more active one) can be cherry-picked into kernel26-rt-ice. This includes general cleaning up of PKGBUILD etc. but not the commits which involve updating variables etc.
    Is this task suitable for git? Or should I just maintain separate trees and diff them every once in a while?

    with git you will basically have no issues.
    if you currently have no issues, don't switch. if you currently have one or more issues with your workflow, switch to git and those issues will be gone.

    Hi You could use the standard functionality of SAP that is Manufacture Part number. 
    As quoted from sap help :
    If there are several MPN materials corresponding to one of your firmu2019s own materials, you must create MPN material master records with the *material type HERS*. In the Purchasing view, enter the manufacturer part number, the manufacturer (this can be either a vendor master record or a manufacturer master record), and your firmu2019s own, inventory-managed material.
    The MPN material master records are assigned to your firmu2019s own material. Stocks are managed with respect to the firmu2019s own material.
    In the purchasing view of  say  material master "part A" assign manufacture part profile.
    Again go to MM01 and create material master with material type hers and assin the internal part number, manufacture part no and manufacturer for this material.
    If you have 3 manufacture part nos and manufacturer you will create 3 masters for material type hers and assign the same internal code to all the 3 with different manufacture part code and manufacturer.
    Finally go to transaction code MP01 and you could manitain approved manufacturer there.

    In production version you can maintain the issue SLoc & Receive SLoc. You can assign an existing production version to you purchasing info records (purchasing organisation data1 > version field).
    Via this maybe you can realize your idea.
    PLEASE FORGET...in case of subcontracting where we use BOM maybe it could be used...

    I have not actually tried this, but in theory you could add additional members to the OWNER property by entering multiple BPC users in the u201COWNERu201D property in the member sheet (comma delimited).   These would need to be fully qualified names including the active directory, for example:  AD100\USER2000  for Active Directory "AD100", and user "User2000".

    You can maintain multiple addresses for the same vendor using international addresses.
    First, you have to Activate International Address Versions for each country/language via config at
    IMG: Flexible Real Estate Management (RE-FX) > Address Management > International Settings > Activate International Address Versions (You can do this even if you are not using Real Estate Management
    Then, in the vendor master, address screen, select the "International Verion" button, select the address version and maintain your address.
    If you have any programs that need to display or print these addresses, you will have to specifiy the address version to display/print. by default, the version (Field = NATION) is Blank.

    you can define for a vendor/customer several partner functions with different        
    adresses. You can create certain partner roles several times.               
    If you create a purchase order, than you can choose the wanted              
    address and partnerrole on the header level. In the standard system you     
    can use the patner role 'OA' ordering address and for the finance           
    the 'IP' Invoice presented by.

    Yes, It is possible to maintain multiple currency for one vendor. How ? The procedure as follows.
    During vendor creation using T-code XK01 and currency enter input data screen select Extra option on the top of the screen click and display  'Add Purchasing Data'  option click opened new screen and give input data plant, tick mark of the option Data retent.at plant level allowed and tick for OK.
    After that, you have enter multiple currency for the same vendor during vendor creation time, then you will create PO using T-code ME21N the currency field you have fill as you required currency by default first currency of vendor created will be display.

        Employee planned working time ( Infotype 0007 ) - Shift A ( 6 AM to 2 PM )
        But he has come in Substitution Shift B ( 2 PM to 10 PM ) instead of Shift A.
        Due to month end work , his senior manager may say him to continue Shift C also.
        ( It happens in Manufacturing industries )
       Now i need to maintain both Shift substitution in 2003 infotype.
       But system doesn't allows me to enter two Substituion for same date.
       Is there any solution for . If Yes , say me procedure.

    No No, I am just asking you to make a decision based on your requiremnts and how your system is set up.
    Entering a DWS OR star time and end time in IT 2003 will replace the planned working time in IT 0007. (Dont enter both at the same time)
    So if you maintain the following times 0600 to 2200 in IT 2003, then the employee has a planned working time for 16 hrs, he does not get any benefit for working 8 extra hours. Is this the way you want system to work?
    Normally under such circumstance, the employee will get compensated in some way for working extra hours. If this is how system should work, you should only enter 0600-1400 ( or whatever SHIFT B timing is ) in IT 2003 and enter the extra shift (Shift C) worked as Overtime.
    I hope the above clarifies my answer.
    Please note that wiothout knowing exactly how your system is set up, we cannot give you an exact answer through the internet, We can give pointers and guidelines, which you need to analyse yourself in light of your own system design. If you have any doubt, enter the data in test system and try it out and see if the payment is made correctly as expected,.

    Definitely u cannot maintain multiple attributes for different qualifications.Question for you does any employee have multiple qualifications at same time- Say Employee 1000 can do BSc and BE at the same time?.If this is the case, then you need to do compounding .If not, Make qualification as time dependent and system will not treat multiple qualifications of an employee as duplicate records.
    Eg: Employee  Qualification StartDate EndDate
           1000          BE              01.01.2004   31.12.2008
            1000       MBA              05.01.2009    31.12.2009
    System will accept multiple qualifications while loading even without compounding and the same can be displayed in report.Hoep this helps!

    Hi Kumar
    There is the possibility to maintain multiple identification numbers of any kind up to 50 char's long in the CRM system. It is possible to maintain multiple values for one kind of number as well as multiple numbers. These are stored in table BUUT0ID, and you can find the customizing for these in the SAP Business Partner Customizing under bp -> basic settings -> identification numbers.
    With this additional numbering you can map the external keys of your legacy system and do the mapping for incoming changes based on these numbers.

    You can leave the Payment terms field in the sales area data tab blank. and you can enter the payment terms at line item level while creating the sales order. By that you will achieve multiple payment terms for the same customer in the same sales order. but the invoice will be split by standard SAP based on the payment terms.
    Also difference between the "Payment Terms" field in Company code tab and the sales Area tab is.
    Company code tab payment terms are used only for the documents that are posted directly in FI module. for example credit and debit memos posted directly in FI and as a leading practice this should always be "payable Immidiately"
    Sales area Tab payment terms are the one which are copied on to the sales order header data which are valid for all the line items unless you specifically mention different payment terms at line item level.
