I have been sucessful using char instead of varchar. But having
the optionally enclosed by value in the data has always solved
the problem.

Howto overcome the 255 char limit in XSLT when outputting using method=text

Hi, I am facing a problem in my XSLT program to output a CSV file. The header line is exceeding 255 char limit, seems built into the editor and looks like it repeats the 255th character into the next line where it finishes the rest of the line. Now this screws the columns in the CSV file. I have tried different combinations of <xsl:text></xsl:text> tags but to no avail.
Is there a way to overcome this problem, spanning a line onto multiple lines in SAP but getting a single line in the output ?

I should have known better to searched in SAP provided documentation instead here first. I needed to end the line with &> chars to continue into the next line.

How to display only specified length of characters in text control

Hi,
I am using text control in swf file. In this file, i want the display text upto 15 charaters and if more, then present with [.....]
Please provide solution for this.

This uses textInputA as a textInput box that someone can type into. The result is that in the Text/Label component, it checks the length of the value of textInputA and if it's longer than 15 characters, it trims any characters beyond 15 and adds [...] to the end.
You can substitute other things instead of a textInput control, but I used it here as it's the easiest way to explain.

I have a Text control string box with some initial text. I would like to highlight old text with click of mouse and type in new data from keyboard

I have a text control string box with some initial text (says: Please enter Name). I would like the operator to click on the text control box and have it automatically highlight so that when new data is typed in the old erases (all at once) and the new data is now in the text box.
I tried using the "Text.Selection" property node and when I run it and put the mouse inside the text box the initial text is highlighted and if I press "delete" on the keyboard or if I start to type in new data the initial data does delete but once I start to type new characters they erase each other. For example if I want to type in “Willi
am” I type the “W” and then the “I” but the “I” erases the “W” and now I am only left with an “I” in the text box and so on. I appreciate any help

It seems you are continuously setting the property node over and over again. This should only happen once if you mouse over it.
Create a property node for your text control with the following three items:
(1) KeyFocus (wire a "true" constant to it)
(2) Text.SelStart (Wire a "zero" constant to it)
(3) Text.SelEnd (Wire a constant containing the string length of the text).
Put this property node inside an event structure, triggered by "Mouse enter" on the string control.
(see if the attached example works for you)

Issue when transport request of Text Control

Dear Gurus,
I have some problem when modified Text controls.
Requirement
My customer want to copy item text from Quotation which is use access sequence 9000 to item text in Sale Order
What I do.
1. I go to SPRO -> Sale and Distubution -> Basic Function -> Text Control -> Define Access Sequences For Deermining Texts -> Sales Document -> Item -> Textproceture -> Text ID's in procedure of Sale order Item
2. I input Access squence 9000 to sepecific Text ID and ticked "Refer/Duplicate"
3. I save and I get the Transport Request
4. I create sale order reference Quotation and the result is system copy text.
5. Then, I transport request to Simulation Server.
6. I create sale order reference Quotation but this time system does not copy text
I want to know why problem is occurs. if you have reference document about this issue please tell me.

Run the program 'RSTXTRAN' using transaction SE38 and attach the Text object to your TR.
Last time I faced the same problem.
Everything gets transported except Text object.
Hope it will be useful to u.

Text control boxes in PDF's created in InDesign

Not sure if this was the best place to post this, but I'm new to using InDesign and not sure who to ask. Here is my dilemma:
I have created an exercise book in Word. There are various sections, some have questions while others are more of a journal. I have added a Rich text Content control box which will allow users to type in their answers or add daily content to the journal and the boxes expand as long as they are inserting text. The section breaks keep the headers and footers in the correct placement. This also allows them to print the document with all of their answers showing.
Now, the problem is that, while the client likes this, they don't like that the headers and footers are grayed out and the colors are not as vibrant in Word as the program part I created and saved as a PDF. They also don't like that if we keep this as a Word document, all the text is editable.
So my question is, can I create a PDF that has the same features with the expandable text control boxes. If I can, would you recommend InDesign to do this?

They're being a bit impractical in their complaints, in fact they remind me of my Dad! The final product is still fine.

That's fair enough, the solution would be to make the text in the header and footer an image instead.

No you can't. I'm pretty sure you can't create a PDF with expandable boxes and I'm very sure that you can't create a PDF that will add pages with headers and footrs. However you can create a PDF with basic fillable text boxes, they're called forms and you need Acrobat as well to do it, google it and you'll find plenty of info.

Variant Length 45 char limit - Help

Friends,
Iam developing a program to download all variants from current environment which are to be uploaded on other environment. Im using RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS FM. Problem is : when I Extract I get only 45 length limit for the variable value on the selection screen. This issue is with RSPARAMS structure which holds only upto 45 chars.
Is there any other way to download and upload variants other than above FM. Like for downloading program we use READ REPORT....anything as such (internal commands) exists for variants too....???????
If any of you have faced this issue, please do pour in your valuable inputs.

Seems you might be thinking that my requirement is little wierd......lemme explain you in detail.
We are moving from a Windows system to a Unix based as part of Upgrade. Because of this I have to change all the variants from
P06XXXX\VAROPT\ to /var/opt/ps1/ and we are expecting variant file path's to have more than 45 characters but when its changed to Unix path for sure max chars would be 43 (below our 45 limit).
My approach for this is :
1) Use the code in OSS Note to download all variants from Windows box and upload in new Unix box (paths would still be
P06XXXX\VAROPT\ ).
2) Once all variants all loaded in their old format, I would now extract the selection screen strucutre (using FM), I could use FM to extract values also but again 45 char limit is haunting.
3) Loop at the structure and IMPORT each variable. change variable content to Unix form and upload them using FM (RS_VARIANT_VALUE_CHANGE or similar).
Now my problem : I am not able to use IMPORT statement in a LOOP.
i.e.
LOOP AT OBJECTS.
IMPORT objects-name TO T_VAR FROM DATABASE VARI(VA) ID ST_KEY.
ENDLOOP.
Please help with this....

Here is how you handle double click events in Textedit control.
1)Create a custom control in screen (say TEXT_CONTROL)
2)In main program,
a) Declarations:
data: obj type ref to cl_gui_custiom_control.
      text type ref to cl_gui_textedit.
b) Create the instance of custom container
c) Create the instance of textedit control.
3)Now to handle double click events , create a local class as follows.
class shail_event definition.
public section.
methods:
handle_doubleclick for event dblclick of cl_gui_textedit .
endclass.
class shail_event implementation.
method handle_doubleclick .
here do the coding for handling the double click.
endmethod.
endclass.
4) Create an instance of the handler class(ie.ZSHAIL_EVENT).Let it be named hand.
5) Define varibles for event.
DATA: i_events TYPE cntl_simple_events,
      wa_events TYPE cntl_simple_event.
SET HANDLER hand->handle_doubleclick for text.
wa_events-eventid = cl_gui_textedit=>event_double_click.
wa_events-appl_event = 'X'. "This is an application event
APPEND wa_events TO i_events.
6)
    CALL METHOD texte->set_registered_events
      EXPORTING
        events                    = i_events
      EXCEPTIONS
        cntl_error                = 1
        cntl_system_error         = 2
        illegal_event_combination = 3
        OTHERS                    = 4.
    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
     MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE sy-msgty NUMBER sy-msgno
                WITH sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.

These are the basic steps needed for handling events in Textedit control.You can go to SE24 and type CL_GUI_TEXTEDIT to find the associated events of the class.

Hi all,
I have a mx:Text with width as 200 and this control is within the itemRenderer of HorizontalList and so the Text contents may vary based on the data. So is there any way to find the exact width of the text content in the mx:Text.
When i do Text.width am always getting as 200 which is obvious because thats the width set. But I need the exact width of the overlaid text.
Say for instance, if I have texts like " I'm am Paul " and " This is the test text message for TEXT Control" then i should get the width's of these texts in the TEXT control.
Its urgent pls advice.

I dont think you will get the Actual Text Width by using textArea.textWidth.....Have you tested it..??
You can just try simpley putting the below line in the code I gave...

Is there a Text control in Measurement Studio for VC++?

I want to create a dialog with several text fields that indicate the status of my test. These fields will have different size fonts and text colors to begin with, then I want to be able to dynamically change the color depending on certain conditions. I think I know how to do it using the Microsoft edit and static controls, but it seems awfully painful. I've done this before with LabWindows and it was extremely easy. I've tried using the CWNumEdit control but obviously it doesn't let me display text-only strings. Is there a way to fool this control, or any other way to create a control similar to the Text control in LabWindows?? One that I can modify dynamically with a single call, rather than responding to multip
le windows messages.

I have done this where a CNiNumEdit control shows values, but I want it to show an Overload warning sometimes. You could use a similar technique to show text always in the control.
Example, inside the square brackets is a string in my stringtable, [ "OL" .]
If you set this as the FormatString of your CNiNumEdit control you just see OL in the control. The actual value (denoted by the dot) gets pushed outside the viewable area.

I'd like to use an external XML file to populate the text in a bunch of TextAreas (and other text controls). I notice there is no "dataProvider" property for texf controls. What might be a good approach?
