Text format on Blog Summary

This may just be a quirk of iWeb, but...
I use iWeb as a blog. When I add a new entry, I may use numbering or bullets in a post. The site publishes fine, and the blog post looks perfect. But I want my main page to display the whole blog post rather than a snippet that necessitates clicking on the "Read More" button. However, in my home page/blog summary, the text does not format in the same way as on the blog post. All of my numbering or bullets go missing, and some of my spacing is messed up. Is this to be expected, or is there a work around?

Unfortunately, without getting into the barebones of the theme there is no way this can be changed. I know this from personal experience after having spent the last 2 months trying to build my own themes and finding out how bl**dy difficult it is.

  • How do I enable bold/italic text formatting in blog module on website?

For some reason I can't figure out how to enable more text formatting options on our blog. We used the blog module on a muse template. I customized the module to apply fonts we used on our website. The main text on the blog is Lato.
    Link to blog: Coupar Consulting
When we go in to write a post you can use the bold/italics options and it shows up in the edit window as shown in the screenshot below:
The font is not correct, but because I set the font in the module to use Lato it does show as lato when you publish, see preview below (notice no bold or italic text):
    What am I missing??
    Thanks in advance!!

Use your browsers console and inspect tool. This stuff becomes very easy.
    address,caption,cite,code,dfn,em,strong,th,var,optgroup
      font-style: inherit;
      font-weight: inherit;

This overides the font bold style on strong.

  • How do I change the colour of the text on my Blog Summary page?

When I highlight the text, it shows that it is the new colour in the Colours window but the actual text remains the original colour

Well, if you decide you love the theme and the zoom controls in the top bar, then cor-el's method is still available.

  • Blog Summary Formatting

I have added a shadow effect to the text in my blog entries however this effect is not carried over onto the main blog summary page. The option to add a shadow effect to the text on the blog summary page is greyed out.

Yes, you can drag it right into the text area and then set the wrap for it in the text dialog box. You can even set how closely it wraps.
Another cool little thing I found while playing, it wraps around the object according to opacity! If you place an object so that part of it has below 50% opacity and part has above, only the part over 50% will have text wrap around it.

  • Any blog templates safe in non-Safari browsers? Blog Summary Widget?

I've tried "Doodle" and "Darkroom" and in both cases, the blog summary page (first page) does not work in both Internet Explorer (Mac) and Firefox (Mac). In both, the Blog Summary Widget does not work. The pictures and text are missing and is replaced with text that says "Blog Summary Widget."
For the test, I did nothing to change or edit the templates. I just published them them as is. They look great in Safari, but no go in Firefox 1.0.2 and IE 5.2.3. I know these are probably not the most current versions of either, but I can guarantee that they're more recent than what my grandma has and she's more typical of my web audience I'm trying to do a family blog. I figured iWeb has cooler templates than Blogger.com and it would be easy since it's iLife. Too bad the blog page probably won't work on most computers' browsers. I don't have a Windows machine to test it on, but I'm guessing that they will be even more unforgiving. Is anyone else having better luck?
The only other factor is that I'm not using a .Mac account. I can't imagine that this could be the issue, but if it is, then that is really, really evil. It's bad enough that Apple punishes you for not having a .Mac account by making you FTP your entire site every time you make a change instead of incrementally (this is a separate thread topic).

    Hello
I've settled on a modified Modern weblog template (http://www.kilayko.com) and it has worked well in the following browser/OS combinations:
    Camino 1.5/Mac OS X
    Safari 2/Mac OS X
    Mobile Safari/iPhone
    IE 6 and 7/Windows XP
    Firefox 2/Windows XP
The only combination that seems to give me (a little) trouble is:
    Opera/Wii
It seems to ignore the thumbnail images on both the main weblog and archive pages but the area is still clickable.
I know that these are somewhat newer versions than what you are targeting but it may point to a limitation in the JavaScript implementations in the older browser versions. It appears that many of the template elements make use of JavaScript for functionality.
I should note that I am also using .Mac - although I don't think that should make a difference for the rendering.

  • Blog Summary Blog Entry Format

I've changed the background and text color in the "Entries" page, however it does not carry over to the Blog Summary in the main page, and the archive does not show the format changes either. Is there a way to change this in iWeb, or do I have to manually edit the .css? (and how would I do that?)
    Thanks!

I'd like to know how to do this too. Please tell me how, if anybody out there knows

  • How can I show only text edits and not text formatting when using print comments summary?

    Acrobat 9.3.0 for Mac.
Here is the scenario: I used the Compare command to see the changes between 2 PDFs. The resulting file some edits are inserts and some are deletions. I want to print a comments summary only showing the text edits. In the Compare Option pane, I select Text and deselect Images, Annotations, Formatting, Headers/Footers, and Backgrounds. Now on the screen I see inserts are highlighted in blue and deletions are marked with sort of a caret and vertical bar symbol. So all looks good at this point. However, when I show the Comments List, I see addtional comments that indicate "Replace - The following text attributes were changed: fill color." Those comments do not appear in the page view unless I check the Formatting check box to show them. With Formatting unchecked, I print a comments summary and all of the "Replace - Fill Color" comments" appear on the resulting comments summary.
I only want to show text edits, not text formatting changes. So questions are:
    1. Why, when the Formatting checkbox is unchecked, do the text formatting comments still appear in the comments list when they do not appear on the page display.
    2. How can I print only the text content edits and not show the text formatting changes when using Print Comments Summary.

    Hi,
You can set ExecuteWithParams as default activity in the task flow then method activity to return total no of rows passing to Router activity if your method has value 0 then call Create insert operation else do directly to page.
Following idea could be your task flow
Execute With param (default) > SetCurrentRowWithKey > GetTotalNoOfRows (VOImpl Method)
    |
    v
    Router
    1. If pageFlowScope outcome is 0 then call CreateInsert > MyPage
    2. if pageFlowScope outcome > 0 then MyPage
    hope it helps,

  • Blog Summary Not Displaying

I'm trying to create a podcast, but the blog summary isn't working. All that displays is the text "Blog Summary Widget". I'm using Fetch to upload my files manually to a university server, and I've checked that all files are there and permissions are set correctly. Here's a link to the podcast:
    http://musicweb.ucsd.edu/cameralucida/Podcast/Podcast.html
    Any ideas?

Did you delete the placeholder frame on the blog entry page? If you inadvertently did so, and even if you place another picture on the blog entry page, that picture will not appear on the main blog page.
For the picture to appear on the main blog page, you need to place the picture directly into the placeholder frame on the blog entry page, eg, via drag and drop.
To fix the problem, you will need to make a new blog entry, and copy and paste the text, and drag the picture for the blog entry directly into the placeholder frame. To fix the date of the new entry, enter the date in long format, and it will be resorted correctly in the blog entry list.

  • Blog Summary Page: Pictures in blog entries are gone

All of my blog entries on the blog summary page no longer display images set inside the text of an entry. Is this an iWeb 2.0 bug or "feature"?
This is annoying, because with iWeb 1 I was able to share these pictures in my blog summary page and RSS feed. Now my blog and RSS readers have to click the "read more" link to see any pictures, even though I have set my blog summary length to the total entry.
This is a serious loss of feature for no good reason, and I hope this is considered a bug and will be fixed soon.

I was just getting ready to post a similar question when I ran across yours. I've been using Rapid Weaver for my blog and was thinking about switching over to iWeb, but until the pictures start showing up on the summary page (inside the text of an entry), iWeb is utterly non-functional for my purposes.
The other thing I noticed is that none of the formatting (like bold or italics text) shows up inside the text of an entry on the summary page either.
I, too, am very interested in whether this is a "bug" or a "feature."

  • The picture frame in the blog summary!

    Hey,
by default a frame of the blog entry picture shows up in the blog summary right with its text... It was all good, but by adding my second blog entry i suddenly found both entries on the blog summary page are without no photos... even by playing with the "placement" of the picture and text format of this page... just nothing...! u can check it out here : http://www.bynomad.net/Nomad/Blog/Blog.html
    thanks

ok i figured it out! i was deleting the default shot and then add my picture! well what is supposed to be right is just drag and drop it over the default picture, this will still make it bounded to the blog page!
i still find it silly anyway... also re-adjusting the default page every time i post something... they should create a custom thing for each page i believe...
    cheers

  • Text formatting

With the recent update adding text formatting, one would think that I would be glad about it...but I'm not. Why? Well, allow me to explain. I am a roleplayer, and in roleplay, asterisks are used to signify a character's actions. Now, whenever I have my character do something, it's all in bold and looks awful. And yes, I am aware of the "two at symbols" thing, but that is just absolutely backwards and unnecessary. Is it really so hard to put an extra checkbox under options that says "disable text formatting" or something like that?

Claudius has posted a solution to the autoformatting problem. It's not discoverable, even by accident, and it shows that the option actually exists, but that Skype have decided not to show it to us users.

  • Blog entry didn't show up on blog summary page. ¿Por qué?

    RE: Blog
Last night I wrote a blog entry, but the first few sentences did NOT show up on the blog summary page. I previously had set the blog entry length to be short (toggled far to the left), but there is a difference between a short length and NO length at all.
Why do you suppose this happened?
INFORMATION: Prior to writing the blog entry I was having difficulty with the picture not showing up on the blog entry page, and in trying to edit it and move text around I might have messed up some registration lines, or LINES. Could that have had an effect? I must say that of all the things involved in iWeb, this Blog feature has given me the most problems and made me the angriest. Just thinking about it right now has created a tight knot in my chest.

Go back to your main blog summary page in iWeb. Open
the Inspector to the RSS tab and slide the text
excert slider to show ALL (all the way to the right).
Does ANY of your blog text show up in this
    particular entry?
    .......... Lorna says ................................................
Well, Inspector Tseng, I toggled to the *Show All* position, and heheheh, none of the blog entry showed on the blog summary page.
If not, then perhaps you entered
your text in a different text box....did you add a
text box to the page? If it does, then maybe you
have some preceding spaces in the text box? Or
maybe you inserted a photo into the text box
    inadvertently?
    .......... Lorna says ................................................
James, last night I was having so many dang blasted flippin cockamamie problems with the picture that I moved a bunch of things around and recall making a new text box and typing into it. Grrrr.
I am going to return there and copy and paste and delete that page. I feel very bad that I cannot master the blog after so much stupid time. I also think that the blog needs to be more idiot proofed so that normally OK actions in other iWeb scenarios don't end up as yet another disaster on the ash heap of broken iWeb dreams.

  • Blog summary weirdness

okay this is nutty. I've got 3 blogs on a site. published them to a mobile me account. one is just fine, but on the other two, the links in the blog summary are all dead. however if you go the archive. the links are fine. and all other links are fine. it's just the ones in the summary. doesn't matter if it's on mobile me or local folder.
the site is http://www.fangirlla.com and the bad blogs are Movies and Television.

I think I have the same problem. I decided to change the theme on my blog since the top header graphic was not working correctly on the blog and had funny patches of incorrect background using the Formal theme.
I realized I would have to reformat every blog entry to look good for the new theme (Darkroom) so decided to have an old blog and a new blog. The new blog works fine, but the entries on the old blog for 2008-2009 are now missing the blog title, date, entry title and the first text box. All the additional pictures and text boxes I added are still there.
It must not like more than one blog on a site???

In my blog page, I've created entries and can view them fine on iweb. After I publish, all the entries are replaced with the text "Blog Summary Widget". What am I doing wrong here?
