how do you add relection to text.I can add reflection to images but not text.Can some one help me with this.THANKS

Sorry, it can't be done, at least not just using Pages. I remember trying this earlier & I got the same results just now. You could try copying your text to the clipboard & create a new file from the clipboard in Preview, save that as an image or PDF & insert it back into Pages.

I have seen the Keynote presentation by Steave Jobs, I noticed that some objects had a window type reflection on the buttom of the object. Does anybody know how that is done?

There are a lot of effects you'll see in his keynote addresses that aren't in the current version of Keynote (2.0). I assume these will be included in Keynote's next release, but for now we have to be a little more creative
I would try doing something with gradients in Photoshop in order to achieve that effect.

Portal text personalization not reflecting for all uses

I have personalized a text in the iView.
I have Administrator access on the Portal.
The personalization of the text reflects for users with administrative privilages.
But for normal users the personalization does not show up (this is the goal)
Please guide how can i make the iview personalization visible to all users

It asks me to go to the page through the role and click on edit on the bottom
The problem i am facing is, I am not able to click on Page and edit. I am only able to click on the iView and edit
Now, the custom messages are not displayed for the administrators as well, it just displays the change on the preview screen
Is there something wrong with the link between the Role and the Page?
Is this a problem with the permissions for Role, Page, iView?
Please guide what to check.
The role is ESS, Page is Travel Expenses and iView is Create Expense report. These were copied from standard (Content provided by SAP) into a new folder.

What happened to Text Effects?

I'm upgrading from Photoshop Elements 3 to Elements 8 (I'm on a Mac, by the way). In Elements 3, there was a section of effects called Text Effects. Where are Text Effects in Elements 8?

Create a Macro to Index a Word Document Line by Line

Background
I have collected a bunch of keywords and references to where I can find these words in a textbook. I've put them into a Word document where each line is one Index beginning with the “Main Entry” followed by a colon and then the “Subentry”. Note
that in the "Subentry" I have included my reference in parenthesis (b1-m2).
Example Original Text:
        Main Entry:Subentry (b1-m2)
Example Marked for Index:
        Main Entry:Subentry (b1-m2){ XE "Main Entry:Subentry (b1-m2)" \t "" }
When it was only a page of content it was no big deal to select the entire line and <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<x> then <Enter> down the line. Now that I have about 500 lines of these word combinations, I need a more automated solution.
I have searched for KB articles that explain the various elements I need, though unsuccessfully since I don’t know what I need. I doubt I am the first person to do this, so if anyone could point me to the right documents I would greatly appreciate
it.
As a noob, how difficult of a task is this to automate with a Macro or some other method and should I even attempt it? I have a very short window of time to figure this out.
Nice to have: In the final index, I don't need the Word page numbering after the term. My references are in the parenthesis. I know how to remove it manually in Word, when I mark the index entry: Chose Options, Cross-reference
and remove the pre-populated text of "see". That adds \t "" to the index reference.
Illustrated as such:

My Attempt at Recording a Macro
Having zero experience writing macro’s myself, I tried recorded a simple macro using the manual keystrokes below however the text reflected in the actual index reference does not change. I also have to manually kick off the macro on every line of text.
I walked through each of the steps outlined below as I was recording a macro, however when I replay the macro, the index itself contains the exact same text for every line and does not match the original text on the new line.
I could not get the macro to repeat itself on every line. I had to keep running it until I was done (technically, when I realized it was repeating the same text within the index reference itself) but I’d like the macro to run from beginning
to end; line by line and then insert the Index itself at the end on a new page.
I realize I need some kind of loop to keep the macro going line by line.
I also need some way to mark the Main Entry within the loop (everything to the left of the colon) and then the Subentry (everything to the right of the colon to the end of the line).
Example “Index” Macro

Manually Marking Index Entries
Manually, here are the keystrokes I use to iterate my way through the document.
Manual Index Marking Keyboard Combinations:
At the beginning of the first line, press <Shift> + <End>
This selects the entire rows text
Then press <Ctrl> + <Shift> + <x>
This allows me to “Mark Index Entry”
Then press <Enter>
This confirms the Index entry
Then press <Esc>
This closes the “Mark Index Entry”
Go to the next line and repeat.
Replacing anchor
Once the creation of each index is complete, I need to be able to iterate through the document and find all anchor + colons (IE: \: ) and replace with colon (IE: :). This way, the “Main entry” and “Subentry” are handled properly when the Index is inserted.
Manual Anchor Replacement Keyboard Combinations:
At the beginning of the Word document, press <Ctrl> + <h>
Find what:      \:
Replace with: :
Then <Alt> + <a>
Press the "Ok" button (or make replace silent somehow)
Then press <Esc>
This should close the "Find and Replace" screen
Inserting Index
Ideally, I would like the macro to create and insert the newly marked content into an index at the end of the document.
Manually Inserting Index Keyboard Combinations:
Press <Ctrl> + <End>
this takes us to the bottom of the document
Then press <Alt> + <s>
this chooses the "References" tab
Next press <Alt> + <x>
this chooses "Insert Index"
Next press <Alt> + <t>
This should allow you to choose a "Format" option for the index
Next press <m>
This should chose "Modern" from the "Formats" options
Finally, press <Enter>
End the macro
Example before Indexing:

Once I combined my Excel knowledge and Word knowledge, this became a piece of cake. Sharing my solution for anyone else who may have the need. The point of this exercise is to prepare for an open book exam and I need a quick index of my books
(there are 6 for this class). Anyway, here is how i solved (though slightly clunky, it works in seconds!)"
In Excel, I pieced the text together by concatenating the indexing markup and the contents of the pertinent cells as such:

Filenames of duplicated menus

I have Encore CS3. I had two menus called "Romaji Songset Menu 1" and "Romaji Songset Menu 2" (I'll shorten that to "RSM" here), and I duplicated them and renamed the copies "Japanese Songset Menu 1" and "Japanese Songset Menu 2" (hereafter "JSM"). Since then, I have been having some funny problems with at least one of those copied menus (like text reflecting the button name even when that checkbox is not checked, or all my navigation suddenly going to zero on a whole menu without warning, etc.). Just now I happened to look in the Menus directory at the actual files, and noticed that the filenames did not change when I renamed "Romaji" to "Japanese". The filenames are currently called "RSM 1", "RSM 2", "RSM 1 2" and "RSM 2 3". And there are other files in the same directory that are older, and they seem to correspond to times when I duplicated menus and then deleted them later - apparently the actual files are not removed from the directory. Those older files also apparently had the same problem of not being renamed when renamed in Encore - they have names like "RSM 2 2" (from a previous duplication of "RSM 2") and "RIM 2", "RIM 2 2", and "RIM 2 2 2" (I don't remember duplicating my real "RIM" menu that many times, but I suppose it's possible). There is even a "Top Menu 2", and I don't remember duplicating the top menu at all.
I don't think I had this problem before - I have a project from last fall that also involved duplicating menus, and all the menu files are named the way they should be.
The question is, is this harmless, or could it be related to the other strange problems and should be remedied? If I rename the physical files, Encore will probably orphan any related links, zero out those menus' button navigation, etc. - who knows what havoc that would wreak. I am in final testing of the project before sending it off to be made into a DLT for the replicator, and things were looking pretty good until I tried to use one of my menus today and discovered that all the navigation was gone. I fixed that, but if I don't know why it happened, and if it happens again when the DLT provider opens the Encore project, yikes!
And should I delete the files with old dates, or could there be some sort of umbilical cord between them and the currently used ones?
CORRECTION: I just discovered that the navigation-becoming-all-zeros problem was on not just one but both JSM menus, so there is definitely a disease that duplicated menus have that originals don't, in my case.

@John: I hear you, and from now on I'll use simpler filenames (no spaces and shorter). But I had the exact same menu file naming convention in a previous project last year, and neither then nor now have I had any of the blatant problems cited in the threads you referenced - I have not gotten any errors whatsoever in this project (knock on wood), and the test DVD's play fine. By the way, Encore itself is an offender of the "no spaces rule" - notice that the additional numbers it adds have a space in front of them! I guess if we want to avoid spaces in filenames, we cannot ever use Encore to duplicate menus...
Followup question: If I decide to rename my files to play it safe, how much additional work will I make for myself, and what landmines might there be? I'll have to re-import all the menus, relink all the buttons to and from each menu, and recreate all the navigation, right? Anything else? I have seven menus and a zillion buttons, and I was hoping this project was at its final stage (I actually thought I would have been sending it out yesterday, but my husband found some things to be improved in the videos, and we also noticed that the default button on the menus was not what it should be). And my asset filenames might give you even more heebee-jeebees (I've never spelled that before - it's just something my mom used to say), as they mostly consist of multibyte characters - but although that might bother you, it is perfectly normal for all Japanese users of PPro and Encore. I am not going to rename all of them!

The not renaming the file name is exactly what EN does: simply renaming
the menu in the properties panel does nothing other than to change the
name in EN. ... To the extent that it matters, if I really want a filename difference, I
save the menu (as file or template), then import as menu.
Hmm, I guess when I did the same structure of project last year, I must have copied the menu files and imported, rather than duplicating within Encore. Perhaps I was smarter last year... LOL
EN is not designed for us to go messing around in those directories (even though we do/must).
That's exactly what I'm afraid of with John's suggestion that I rename my files. Things are working at the moment. (I feel like if I sneeze something might go wrong, but at the moment it's okay.)

Nope. The menu was duplicated over a week ago, and the navigation was fine. Since then I have made many changes, and the navigation stayed fine. (I edit in Photoshop, but I never open the files outside Encore, as I'm afraid of the delicate relationship - I always run Encore and select "Edit Menu in Photoshop".) The time when the navigation went away, the only thing I did was to change the default button from 1 to 3 on all four Songset menus, and from 1 to 2 on two other menus. At that time I made no other changes, and did not open the menus in Photoshop at all. After only the default button change, the two previously duplicated menus lost their navigation, but all other menus were okay. That's why I was wondering if there was something special about menus whose filenames have additional numbers that Encore adds when it does duplication. I don't care about asthetics of filenames or extra files in the folder - I just want to know that my project will run when I send it off to be made into a DLT.

Learning Some Basics

Hey gang,
I've been learning al I can for the past few days but I'm
still green as spring tree. Right now, I'm trying to customize a
template so that the drop shadow text reflects the standard text I
have already customized. It pulls up in the main window from the
library with the standard text in front. I can edit the standard
text it to my own specs, but when I attempt to click on the drop
shadow text behind it for editing, nothing happens. It does not
appear to be editable text or an image that I can replace via
import. Does anyone know what it is and how I can manipulate it.
I'm working off a template in MX flash 7.2. I can move the main
text and the drop shadow behind it around to different parts of the
window, but only the main text becomes editable when I double
click.

really hard to say without seeing the FLA - could be a flash
8 filter or an imported bitmap (PNG
with transparency) - could be hard to select because the
layer is locked, or it is on same layer as
actual text but under it and therefore need to move top text
to a new layer and then lock that
etc....templates often pose a myriad problems for newbies as
they could be built any number of ways
using any number of assets and very hard to reverse-engineer
if you are not familiar with the basics
to begin with - can you upload the FLA so we can download and
take a look?

How to Trim Rectangle with text to create reflection?

Hello Everyone,
I am realtively new to Illustrator and I am facing a problem that I am hoping some expert here can resolve. I have some text and I have converted it to outlines. Now I want to create shine on it. I want to fill a rectangle with white color and then clip it with text to give reflection effect but I can't figure out how to do it. I have selected my text and rectangle and tried all options in path finder tool but nothing seems to work. Please guide me how can this be done.

Afraz Ali,
If you want to have the colour/colours/colour transition of the rectangle where the text is is nothing outside it, in other words colour the text with the colouring of the rectangle, you may:
Use Live Type over the rectangle, select both, and Object>Clipping Mask>Make.
With outlined type, you have to turn the lettershapes into a Compound Shape first.
As you can see, it is simpler to just use Live Type, and it is editable.

Text field to be reflected in GR/IR Account

hi,
I am having problem with the text field in Transaction : MIRO and GR/IR a/c.
The text field which we enter in MIRO Transaction is to be reflected in GR/IR a/c.
Should we enter text manually in GR/IR a/c or it has to be popup from MIRO Transaction.
Could any one help me how to get the text in GR/IR Transaction from MIRO text.

First verify the field status group of GR/IR account ...generally g045 is assigned for that....
Go to obc4, then click on g045 ...then click on general data... make text as required entry
if any other field status group (material group) is assigned ...for that also you can do the same as above...

Feature Requests - Title Names Reflect Text Used in Actual Title - Allow Unique Duplicate Titles

I would like to request a feature for the titles in Adobe Premiere. In After Effects, when you type out a title, that title's name becomes the first few words of whatever you typed. In essence, the title automatically names itself whatever the text is. It's super handy and makes creating multiple titles a breeze because it eliminates the extra step of having to actually name your title something unique. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see Premiere adopt this. It makes a lot of sense and would save users a ton of time when working with title heavy projects.
Also, in After Effects when you duplicate a title inside the timeline, it becomes it's own unique title file. In Premiere it just becomes a linked mirror of the duplicate, so any text changes you make to either file will result in a text change in the other. I'm not crazy about this. I wish the titles would just become their own unique file when duplicated, so you can just move down the timeline creating text files quickly and easily by duplicating your previous title and moving on. This is how After Effects does it and how Final Cut 7 used to do it.
Premiere is not very efficient at creating titles. In large projects that require a lot of titling, it would be nice to be able to just select a title in the timeline, duplicate it, change the content inside and have the name of the new file reflect the new content. It would also be nice if the duplicated title was its own title and not linked in anyway to the duplicate.

And yes Jerry, it is in the timeline that I believe this feature would be the most helpful. I am aware that you can do it in the project panel, which is what I have been doing. In text heavy projects, having to go back and forth to the project panel over and over again can be cumbersome. It would be nice if I could just live in the timeline without having to constantly mouse over to the project panel. When you're doing over 25 titles, it gets a little tedious.

QM03-Custom tab-Change to text field not reflecting-FG - XQQM-screen-0106

I have a requirement to change the text field on a custom tab of QM03 transaction. Quality notification type is Z1 and the tab is "Checklist". Both are custom defined.
The existing text field is of 3 lines. The new text message is of 8 lines. When I did the changes on the custom screen 0106 in the function group XQQM, the changes are not reflected on the QM03 transaction's custom tab. Only first 3 lines were reflecting the change and rest of the 5 lines are not appearing on the screen.
Pointers on this will be definitely helpful.

I had a similar problem, but it was with the message line. I found that with Web Forms, I had to issue the Synchronize; a second time, but in Client/Server Forms 6i, the first synchronize worked. Here is the code I used:

How do I have incoming text/phone calls reflect contact name

Inadvertant change of a setting - unsure which - that now does not have incoming text/phone messages reflect contact name if in Address Book. Only phone number appears. Help restore old setting

Longshot, but try resetting:
Hold both the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.
As for the font size, try Settings > General > Accessibility > Large Text, and change it to the desired size.

Reflections on 3D Text query

Hi,
Via the new shape from layer I am able to create reflection on sphere by loading the environment with a texture and playing around with the reflection,gloss,shine.
However I'm having issues doing the same on 3d text (created via reppousse/text layer), the reflection on the front Inflation material is just not appearing
How do position the reflection?
CAn you scale the image that you set for the reflection image (environment)?

Well after playing around with this a long time I think I manage to work it out.
I mention this just in case it might help someone else out.
As I said once I enable reflections on the front inflation of the 3d text (setting a image to the environment and raising the reflection value setting) I could not understand why the reflection was so blurred and pixelated no matter how much I rotated it
The reason was by default I'm apparently looking at my 3d object with camera well zoomed out. I went through the process of scaling my camera back and zooming into my object with the object scaler tool. Of course the wire frame 3d object still stays the same size on screen if you do this
However gradually the reflected image became sharp and with reflection setting set to 100% it acted like a mirror exactly what I expect. Horray!!!
Now by looking at my object in the 3d view with my 3d plane visible it is hard to see how far or near the object is is relation to Camera distance and the scale of the 3d object. Is there some indication in this view that I'm not seeing?

Reflection on text won't show in Final Cut?

I made a text title with a reflection. It looks great....I exported it to quicktime....still looks great. Brought it into FCP, played it in the viewer...still looks great. But when I add it to my timeline and play it their is no reflection???
Can anyone explain?

I got the reflection, looks exactly the same in FCP.
Make sure you have the alpha set right if you load the project in, it should be set to black. If you are trying to comp this on anything else, look at the build in Motion on a background, not black.
Ah, just reading this again looks like you are rendering out a movie. Try just dropping the project in first. That worked for me. If you are kicking out a file with an alpha, remember to do the black trick
Also as you haven't got a background, put a black colour solid generator in there if you want the finished result on black.

Collecting and re-displaying text-entered reflections?

Hi,
We would like to "collect" learner-entered reflections at different points during a training and then return the learner to a couple of the paragraph/thoughts they wrote later on in the training. Will Captivate 8 support this type of activity (in HTML5)? Do we use the text-entry box feature and just return them to the same slide to review?

I understood, no need to correct typo.
Had to search in that changed UI myself to find the option 'Show scrollbar' that you need. In previous versions it was under Options, but for some 'illogical' reason it is now in the Actions tab. I don't understand the logic of this UI, sighing.
When inserting the variable, be careful to make the variable length sufficiently high if people type a lot of text. You'll see that option in the dialog box when inserting with the X button. Do not type in the variable between double $$ as many (even trainers) do, because you don't get the option to change the length and typos can be quickly made (variables are case sensitive).
