Embed slide video in mp4 publish

Hello,
Is it possible to publish a Captivate 6 project with slide video as one main mp4 file?! I need to have the slide video (flv) be incorporated in the main video file rather than an external files. In my published mp4 video the slide videos don't show. Instead, there is an indicator "connection error" where the video ist supposed to be.
Best regards
Jan

Hi Jan,
Could you please check this article, I find it addressing your scenario as well--

I believe this should resolve your probelm as well.
Thanks,

  • Captivate 8: Slide Videos Repeat when Publishing in HTML5

Conditions: Slide with MP4 h.264 video (no audio track) and separate audio track. Slide action on exit is to go to the next slide. Timeline is trimmed to .1 sec after end of video (Captivate doesn't allow it to be trimmed closer)
Issue: Slide video will play through with sound, then video will repeat with no sound before advancing to the next slide
I should note that while all of my slides are set up the same way, only certain slides have the issue. I have not been able to determine what (if any) difference there is or if it is an issue that impacts slides at random.
This problem has been described by other users with no seeming workaround. Any solutions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks Shriyansh. I've emailed you with a link to download the project along with the following additional details:
Browsers I'm testing for compatability (all are up-to-date as far as I know):
    - Also, the slides that were repeating yesterday aren't repeating today
    Chrome 38.0.2125.104 m
    Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17358
    Safari for Windows 5.1.7
Firefox 33.0 (Captivate says Firefox doesn't support the content so I'm not expecting a solution for FF, however, firefox repeats the first slide very consistently)
Publish settings (pretty much the defaults):

  • Audio and video skipping in published MP4 - in Captivate 7

I have a project that has a mix of imported Powerpoint slides and Captivate Recording slides.  When I publish this project to output as MP4, the resulting video shows the opening couple of slides, then skips a couple of slides and after that intermittently skips further slides... there are 51 slides in all.  The imported Powerpoint slides are the first slide in the project and the final two slides in the project... in between these are recorded slides.
I am of the opinion that the Powerpoint slides, for whatever reason, are the root of the problem, as I made a copy of this project, removed those three slides from it and the resulting MP4 output ran perfectly.
Has anyone encountered similar issues and if so, did you find the cause and solution?  Any help will be gratefully accepted

Did you have the PowerPoint file saved in pptx format?  If so, this would account for it.  Save the file in version 97-2003 of PowerPoint, and it will work.  We just encountered this issue.

  • Slide videos (FLV's) starting and stopping

I've published a number of swf's for a training course that I'm producing. Each of these contain a couple of FLV's, inserted as slide videos, one at the front of the slideset and the other about half way through. The problem is that a number of people who are beta testing for me are having issues replaying the FLV's within the swfs, as they keep stopping and starting before they can view them properly.
I have a preloader on the front of every swf, so shouldn't that give enough time for the FLV to buffer before playing, or doesn't the FLV preload at all?
I'd really appreciate some help with this.
    Thanks,
    Pippa

    Hi George,
That's really very helpful of you!  Many thanks. However, my problem is with the FLV video starting and starting. That is being downloaded as an external file within the swf that I'm playing, so the loader widget would only have an effect upon any flash element of the swf and not upon an FLV.
As far as I can see, the preloader doesn't have any effect upon the FLV, so if you have an FLV as the first slide, the preloader runs until the swf has downloaded, the swf starts to play, but then you get a black loading screen, while the FLV downloads.  I also have another FLV in the middle of the slideset, so when the swf gets to that point, again, I get a black loading screen until the video has downloaded.
I'm struggling to find a solution.  It's really very important that the swf including FLV's play smoothly all the way through, as I'm producing a set of talking head training videos with quizzes and they need to look professional. I like the way Captivate produces slidesets together with the ability to produce quizzes, but I'm not sure that the video integration is so good.
The only option I can think of is to take out the quizzes and produce those as swfs and then publish the remainder of the slidesets as mp4's, rather than swf's.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions?
    Thanks Pippa
Good luck with your question, George.  I'll take a look at it, but suspect that I'm more in the dark about it than you!

  • Captivate 5.5 mp4 publishing crash

Captivate 5.5 - Windows 7:  I am attempting to publish a 38 second video to mp4 and no matter what I try Captivate crashes.  It begins processing the slides, it says 'saving swf file' - then crashes stating that 'a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program....'.   Is this  a known issue?  Is there some simple setting I can adjust to avoid this?

    HI
I have installed Captivate 5.5 on Win 7 64 bit and even on my laptop which is Win 7 32 bit. On both machines I have installed it as an Administrator. I open Captivate and publish Mp4 --> works fine.
1> So you can try to run Captivate 5.5 as an admin. Also if it is a standalone machine, enable the built in user and then run captivate to publish mp4.
2> You can close/end other processes and then run Captivate to publish mp4
3> Try to re-install Captivate 5.5 in a new admin account and observe that are you facing the same issue or not.
    Hope it helps
    Thanks

  • Editing Slide Video with preview

    Hi there,
I have made a slide video (published mp4) and in CP6 clicking on (Edit Video timing) in the Properties panel, I do get the video/swf to show 1 screenshot, bu will not display full preview of the swf......jsut atiny 300*200 (aprox) window on bottom right of the Properties panel....
Is there a way to view a larger preview th anyone knows of? (aside from actually running the mp4 video).......image below shows what I am getting....
    Cheers

    Hi,
Foubnd my own answer to this (although the preview is still a problem)...
My answer was to open a 2nd copy of CP....and view side by side :-)

  • Replay slide button not working with slide videos HTML 5

My course built in Captivate 7 contains synchronized  slide videos, imported  FLVs, progressive download. They are placed on the timeline at 0.5, and end 0.5 second from the end of the slide.
Each slide has a replay slide button with advanced action assigned to it, Expression>cpCmndGotoSlide = cpInforCurrentSlide - 1, Continue. This works fine in SWF output (IE 9), and it allows the user to restart the slide, if the video doesn't load properly the first time, without having to relaunch the course.
However, once I publish to HTML5 and view the course in Safari for iPad iOS 7.0.4, the slide returns to the beginning, but the slide displays  "loading",  the video never loads, and I'm unable to navigate away from the slide by using the playbar, and so I'm forced to close the browser tab and relaunch the course.
I've created a new project and tested using different video formats (f4v, and mp4), and advanced actions such as Jump to slide, but have not been able to resolve the issue.
Is this a known issue, or is there a workaround for this? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is the best solution, but it works in both SWF and HTML5 output.
Because the video begins at .5 on the timeline, I've added a second expression which once the slide jumps to the beginning, it advances to the frame that is 25 frames from the current frame. This causes the slide to replay not from the beginning of the slide (before the video loads), but from just under 1 second in so the video doesn't have to reload.
As I said, this may not be the best solution, but at least the viewer can rewatch the video from the beginning without going back and forth between the slides hoping the video will replay correctly, and without closing the browser window and relaunching the course.

  • Does Captivate 7/8 support *Dynamic* Streaming Video for synchronized Multi-Slide videos?

I'm experimenting with inserting Streaming Video into Captivate Lessons.  I've set up an Adobe Media Server (AMS) to stream the video.
When inserting Multi-Slide Synchronized video, it's not clear whether/how I can insert a Dynamic Streaming Video link in a synchronized Multi-Slide Video.
(The Dynamic videos can switch between videos of varying quality based on the user's available bandwidth.)
I think you're supposed use a URL that points to a manifest file (.F4M), which catalogs the videos of varying bitrates.  However, I can't seem to get it to work in Captivate and Adobe is a little vague on how/if one references the manifest file. (i.e. I can't find any examples.)
So, does Captivate support dynamic streaming video?
If not, which is more robust in Captivate? HTTP progressive download or regular (non-Dynamic) RTMP Streaming Video?

    Thanks Erik.
We did some more tests/checking-around and have convinced ourselves that the URL needs to point to the manifest file in order for Dynamic Media Streaming to work.
When we examined the Adobe Media Server sample web page (below), we found buttons to select different media sources.
The 'Multiple Bitrate' button under RTMP Dynamic Streaming Sample is mapped to the URL of an F4M (manifest) file.
The 'Single Bitrate' button is mapped to an individual mp4 file.
We also found more clues in the FlowPlayer RTMP F4M page.
Also, I'm guessing that Captivate can't handle adaptive bitrate streaming from non-RTMP sources based on the menu options. (See screen capture below)
If the menu above is correct, the first choice is the opposite of streaming media, because it says 'Progressive Download'.  (Progressive download caches the video file on the client machine.)
The next one is for private Adobe Media Streaming and the third is for 3rd-party Adobe Media Streaming services.
So, I'm pretty much convinced that it's not supported.

  • Embed flash video on website...

About a month ago, I asked for a code to embed a flash video
on my website, but now I am stuck. I was told to convert the videos
to .FLV, which is fine. I can do that, BUT in the coding, I am
confused because the 'file name' in the code ends with .swf. I am
SO lost because if the video is converted to .flv how would it work
if the name in the code ended with .swf? I am VERY new at flash,
and beyond converting the videos to .flv, I'm lost.
Also, if I can figure this out, would I need to add any other
details to make sure the code works in both IE and firefox?

  • Unable to access external video file after publishing in html5

I am trying to publish a project that contains links to external files (.mp4 videos). After publishing, I get an path error message when I try to run the videos after publishing. The references to the videos are by name without any paths specified.
When I published the file the videos reside in the same folder as the captivate project file.
The instructions say copy the files to the output folder after I publish as html5.
What I did was extract the zip folder
Place the videos in the parent folder after extraction.
Ran the project. It runs except for the video execution.
There are a number of folders when the zip file is extracted.
Am I placing the videos in the right folder?

I personally prefer to get my files up on the server and link directly to them in Captivate.
Are you putting your's in the root folder of your project? eg. /projectname/... instead of/projectname/callees/ ?

  • Embed WMV video in PDF on Mac platform?

Acrobat 8's Help documentation states that the video formats one can embed in a PDF depends on the operating system and the video formats its player supports.
I have plugins installed which allow my Mac's Quicktime Pro player to play and encode WMV files. However, if I try to embed a WMV file in a PDF, the file format is not recognized/allowed. Instead, I have to open the PDF in Windows and embed the video there.
One would think that the ability to play--or not play-- the video is irrelevant. At least you should be able to place it.
    Any thoughts?

You're far better upgrading to Acrobat 9 Pro and Reader 9, and using the built-in support for Flash video. Trying to support embedded video cross-platform before was always somewhat problematic because it depended on other technologies like QuickTime which essentially Adobe had no control over.
