TextEdit in a Table

Hi,
I have a value node Objectives with a value attribute called Objective type string where user can enter multiple lines and some other attributes also. I want to get multiple values from the user.
Since TextEdit cannot be used in a table, I have put an add button in the view. When user clicks on Add button each time, I create the TextEdit Control dynamically in the view which is bound to the value attribute Objective of value node Objectives and create a blank record in the value node Objectives.
My problem is if user clicks on the Add button multiple times and enter some values in the TextEdit Control, How do I update the correct record of the node Objectives?
I would appreciate any help in this matter
Thanks.
Regards,
Suresh.

Hi,
I am working on a requirment where i am using textEdit as a cell in tableView.
Every thing is working fine except i am unable to capture the data from textEdit.
I have to store the multiple lines entered by user into a z-table column of type
XSTRING. For that i am trying with
column_index = 8.
lv_lines = tv_event_data->get_cell_value( row_index = ws_selectedrows-index column_index = column_index ).
          concatenate  CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>cr_lf  space  into lv_translate.
           translate lv_lines using lv_translate.
           concatenate   CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>newline  space
                              into lv_translate.
           translate lv_lines using lv_translate.
           condense lv_lines.
But still after this i find some characters in the string, so i am able to store only partial string. not compelte string(which is multiple lines).
If anybody has expereinced the same and solved can help me.
I really appreciate and alot points for suitable answer.
thanks for the help.

  • Htmlb:textedit position in TD

    Hello,
    I have a little problem with a htmlb:textedit.
    I put a htmlb:textedit  in a TABLE but I can't align it on the bottom of the cell. The textedit is always on the top.
    <%---- col 1----

    <%---- col 3----

    Thanks a lot for your precious help.

    Hi,
      Inside your BSP application use below code (example) for alignment..
       <htmlb:gridLayout rowSize   = "1"
                              columnSize  = "2"
                              cellSpacing  = "5" >
              <htmlb:gridLayoutCell rowIndex    = "1"
                                    columnIndex         = "1"
                                    horizontalAlignment = "left" >
        <---  your codes  --- >
           </htmlb:gridLayoutCell>
      </htmlb:gridLayout>
    Here,
    rowSize - Use this attribute to determine the number of rows.
    columnSize - Use this attribute to determine the number of columns
    If you get more information about gridlayout, refer the SBSPEXT_HTMLB BSP Application ->GridLayout.bsp

  • Importing a .xls tab delimited file into number

    Hi there... I downloaded a .xls document from the internet and attempted to open it in Numbers. The following import problem presented itself:
    Import Warning - This is a tab delimited document, not a valid Excel document. The data might look different.
    Indeed the data does look different- all of the formatting is visible, and the document is essentially unusable. Is there a way to convert this sort of document into something that can be used in Numbers?
    Thanks

    I opened the document in Text Edit, but was unable to convert tab to commas... here is a clip from the original document when it is opened in both TextEdit and Numbers

  • Default word processor in OS X

    It seems there is an app called TextEdit in OS X, so if I'm mostly just going to be emailing and typing up some occasional documents, does that mean I probably wouldn't need MS Word or Pages? i.e. I don't need Office or iWork to get a lot out of a Macbook, right?
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi, C.M. Welcome to the Discussions.
    While TextEdit can support tables, embedded images, lists, and import/export in Word format, the actual performance of these features is not, IMO, up to par with Word or other word processors. For example, table import and export is often problematic. There's little flexibility w.r.t. page numbering and other features one comes to expect from a true word processor. Therefore, what you mean by "occasional documents" is very important.
    The following applications are frequently mentioned in discussions of MS Word alternatives. They each have their adherents and fans. In alphabetical order:
    • AppleWorks, essentially been superseded by Pages.
    • Mellel
    • Mariner Write
    • Nissius Writer Express
    • Pages, part of Apple's new iWork bundle.
    • Ulysses
    Some additional "office suite" alternatives that are regularly mentioned include:
    • ThinkFree Office
    • NeoOffice: a free prototype of a port of OpenOffice to Mac OS X.
    You can investigate other solutions by searching MacUpdate or Version Tracker. The user-submitted reviews accompanying the listings can be helpful in sorting the wheat from the chaff.
    You must compare your requirements against the features of each package to determine the one that best meets your needs.
    Good luck!

  • Displaying multiples lines of an Internal table to Textedit.

    Hi,
    I have an internal table. I wish to display them in an TextEdit as multiple lines. ie, each record of an internal table (which has only one string element) should be displayed as an individual line inside the TextEdit. How do i achive that ? I tried concatenating seperated by '/', but not working. Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Gaurav.

    Thomas is right, but supposedly (haven't tried myself yet) you could also bound the value property to a STRING_TABLE typed attribute (plain i.e. not structured string table).
    If you follow the concatenation approach, the separator to be used is NEWLINE.
    Here's the relevant help excerpt:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/06/45ee412e5e6324e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
    value
    Text to be displayed. The text can be edited.
    The attribute to be bound can be of type STRING or STRING_TABLE. With STRING_TABLE rows from TextEdit are stored as table rows. A line break is always stored as a line feed in a STRING (CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES=>NEWLINE, ASCII decimal 10). The Web Dynpro framework carries out the conversion for the client platform.
    Note that a string to be displayed in TextEdit, must only use a line feed as a line break.

  • TextEdit Table Alignment Align on baseline

    Can anyone explain the "Align on baseline" choice in the Table palette? I understand what a baseline is, but can't get text in a table to look any different between "Align top" and "Align on baseline", even after playing with fonts of different size in the same cell, fonts of different size in adjacent cells, changing the baseline, or adding subscripts/superscripts.
    Next question: Why isn't "Align on baseline" explained in TextEdit Help?

    My understanding is that since the table tag is just a container in the EDD and the tgroup is the actual table, that setting the format on the tgroup should be fine.  In fact there is an example in the either the dev ref or dev guide that shows this same mappping.
    Answering your questions:
    Can one have multiple tgroups within a table element with each tgroup having a different table format? YES - but it rarely happens in practice.
    Does the table format apply to the table element or the tgroup element? As described above I think it applies to the tgroup.
    Do you need to set the table formatting via the tgroup align attribute? YES - it is standard CALS table format.
    Or is it independent of the order? Order does not matter - I have tried various orders.  I can tell that the else clause is working because I can change the table format by changing the mapping in the ELSE clause.
    If you cannot ultimately set the table format via an attribute in the tgroup, you could create a simple XSLT that could set the ttabstyle attribute in the table element based upon the align attribute in the tgroup. Then your EDD would set the table formatting via the ttabstyle attribute. This is a good idea.  I may not be able to use it since I need to change the DTD to support it and the DTD affects the online XML viewing application as well - but I may convince them to add the attribute if it works.  Thanks - I'll try this.

  • Stop pasting tables into TextEdit from Safari!

    How do I do that? When I copy and paste from Safari into TextEdit, the tables come too. Is there a setting that I can turn off to avoid this?

    Actually, that strips all of the styles. I'd like to be able to keep italics, bolding etc. But I don't want tables.

    Our problem lies with the new line . The question is how to copy the internal table to the textview to reflect
    the structure of each new line.
    We tried to use seprate by cl_abap_char_utilities=>newline did also fail to do the trick
    Thank you for your help

    Hi ,
      I am not sure if this will work , try this ,
    Declare a itab of type string_table.(say lt_string)
    Loop at itab(the actual data) into wrkarea.
    concatenate all fileds of wrkarea into a string variable.(say lv_string)
    APPEND lv_string TO lt_string.
    ENDLOOP.
    Bind lt_string to a context attribute of type string_table.Bind the attribute to the "value" of textedit.I remember doing somthing like this and it seemed to work.
    Hope it helps,
    Aditya.

  • Pasting tables from Mac TextEdit to InDesign CS4

    Hi,
    The thread title says it all, really.
    Can you paste tables from Mac's TextEdit to InDesign CS4?

    Pasting table content will paste as tabbed text. You can place (cmd+d) RTF (not RTFD) and maintain tables.
    You will lose custom strokes and a few other formatting elements, but overall placing tables will preserve the integrity of them as you find them in text edit.

  • Setup custom table for textedit

    how can you set up a custom table for textedit? I have a custom sap table for user to enter a project.
    ie.
    field        data element   Datatype   length
    projectnum   zprojectnum       char       8
    projectid    zprojectid        char       4
    projectname  zprojectname      char       20
    projectdesc     ?                ?        ?
    how would you set this up so that project desc can have unlimited length?
    also where is the text store and how to store the textedit?

    There are three important parameters that we will require while dealing with long texts.
    TEXT ID
    TEXT OBJECT
    TEXT NAME
    Usually TEXT ID will ST and TEXT OBJECT will be TEXT unless you have created some other values for the same. Now coming to the TEXT NAME, this could be your unique key of the data for which you want to maintain the long text.
    If you don't have single unique column, you can concatenate two or three columns and store the long text against that using the SAVE_TEXT function.
    While reading the text, the same columns will have to concatenated and use it the READ_TEXT function.

    Ravi

  • Sum of Values from previous rows in a dynamic table

    Hello,
    I have a dynamic table has multiple rows (added dynamically via a button).  One column in the table is a Quantity column.  Another is a Total column.  We do not want to keep a running total, but only wish to display a total when the rest of the cells in that row are emty and the previous row(s) has/have values in the Quantity column.  The Total is the sum on the Quatnities up to a blank row.  Below is a sample.  How do I get teh value of the Quantities in the previous rows?
    Quantity
    Total
    5
    8
    12
    25
    7
    27
    34
    22
    22
    Another option might be to put the Total in the last row with data as opposed to the row below the data.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Karl

  • List view of PDF Table of Contents missing

    In iBooks, PDF files can have two types of Table of Contents, thumbnail view and list view. My problem is some of my PDF files lack the list view of the table of contents.
    I'm under the impression that the list view TOC in iBooks is created from the bookmarks that exist in the PDF file before importing into iBooks. I've been successful in adding new subheadings in the TOC by modifying the bookmarks in the PDF file before installing to iBooks, so I'll be surprised if that's not the case.
    I have two files that have bookmarks in the original PDF file, but when I import into iBooks, there is no option for a list view of the TOC, only the thumbnail view. Can anyone offer any help as to why a PDF file with bookmarks won't show a list view TOC when imported into iBooks?
    While we're at it, when you tap on the TOC button in a PDF file in iBooks, it always takes me to the thumbnails view. I would prefer it default to the list view. Is there any way to do that?
    Thanks.

    There may be more user-friendly ways of doing this, but here's one way:
    Open Terminal (in the Utilities folder).
    Use "cd" to change directory to the folder you want to print
    eg cd /Users/myuser/Documents
    Use "ls" to list the contents to a file
    ls -al > filelist.txt
    You can then open the filelist.txt file from Finder in TextEdit and print it.

  • How to refresh the textedit object in module pool

    Hi All,
    I would appreciate if anybody can solve my problem.
    Problem is i have created one TEXTEDIT and now when user clicks on the cancel button and come back to the screen the data which was previously entered is still coming up.
    Please tell me how to refresh the data in TEXTEDIT.

    actualy it is enough to do the following, assuming you have a container to put the textedit into it:
      DATA:  l_parent_container TYPE REF TO cl_gui_custom_container,
             l_obj_editor TYPE REF TO cl_gui_textedit, "make this a global variable
             l_text_table TYPE re_t_textline,
             l_itftext TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF tline,
             l_thead TYPE thead.
    l_parent_container = ... "your container
    move .... to l_thead...    "your text header to read or reread
    read text from SO10

    I have a ton of documents and databases in AppleWorks v 6.0 that I can no longer open on my MacBook Pro.  Is there any way to recover this info?  Some documents can be opened and resaved with textedit, but not my database with all important addresses.

    I tried Peggy's List > Select All > Copy > Paste into an AW spreadsheet suggestion.
    In my case, pasting into the spreadsheet lost all text formatting (mostly text set to bold). The results of formulas were pasted, and checkboxes were pasted as "on" or "off". The DB did not contain any pop-up menus or radio buttons, but I expect they would transfer as a number showing the list position of the chosen item.
    Pasting the copied List view data into a Numbers table gave a result similar to that with AppleWorks. I selected B2 as the target cell (for top left cell of the pasted data) to avoid any effects of posting into a header row or column. Bold and regular text formatting looked the same as it had in AW's List view.
    Based on that, I'd slip the 'paste into an AppleWorks Spreadsheet step, and paste directly into a Numbers Table.
    Regards,
    Barry
