That eMac with Bondi iMac keyboard

I got the eMac turned on. Found the button on side.
Now using the same keyboard, I have no way of opening the CD tray. I downloaded
eMac Apple Manual and it just says: Inserting a CD or DVD Disc
To install or use programs from a CD or DVD disc, follow these steps:
1 With the computer turned on, press the Media Eject (C) key on the keyboard to open the drive tray.
2 Place the disc flat on the tray, with the label facing up, and press the Media Eject key again to close the tray.
So is there a keyboard combo to open the tray? I see the options for removing disk and I can do that. Opening the tray is the problem right now.
tia

At another place I asked, I just got this reply which is neat:
Go to the /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras folder
Double-click the Eject.menu file. It will put a handy Eject icon in the menu bar.
There is also some key combo with F12 (either cntrl-F12, option-F12, command-F12) that will open the CD drive on some keyboards - I think.
Just touching F12 worked also.
Thanks for responding.

  • The mouse that came with my imac does not work very well in a window virtual machine

I finally got Windows 7 on my iMac and am using FusionVM.  I installed one of my favorite games and the mouse goes soooooo slow I cannot use the game.  Any suggestions?  I am using the mouse that came with the iMac, magic mouse(??).

I have already tried that.  The mouse speed on the iMac is good.  The mouse speed in other Windows7 programs is good.  The problem arose when I tried to play Zuma's Revenge using Windows7.  This is the first game I have loaded since setting up the virtual machine.

  • What is this thing that came with my iMac?

I just got a new iMac (quad core, i5). There is a curious object in the packaging that I don't know what it is, and it isn't discussed in the instructions. It's a thin piece of black felt-like material, square shaped, with the 4 corners folded inward. I have no idea what this thing does, or what I should do with it. What is it? It's way too thin to be a mousepad, I think.

  • Option Key for Boot Camp not working with New iMac Keyboard

Hi, I own a early 2006 Intel iMac. Recently, my wife complained that the keyboard was getting dirty. Basically I think she liked the new keyboard on the new Aluminum iMac better. We purchased it back in August and everything worked great. Oh I also had the beta version of Boot Camp installed. Everything worked great, hold Option down on boot and could choose which OS to go into.
Fast forward to now, purchased Leopard and love it! Decided to wipe the system and do a fresh install. Everything is installed (Leopard, Boot Camp, Windows XP) and working great, that is except when I press and hold the Option key at start up. If I have the new keyboard installed, the Option key does not bring up the boot manager. However if I plug the original keyboard in and hold Option, it works!!!
Ok I could see a problem if the new keyboard was NOT an Apple product. But it is and frustraiting as I can use the control panel to choose. This is a long round about method and does not make a happy wife with me. HELP!
    Jhan Jensen

Thanks for the info! I was about to call myself and I may still do so. I am hoping if Apple gets enough of these calls then maybe it will spur them on to get it done sooner. (Apple are you listening) I will do the same with the KB swapping, she will be happy at least she can still use the new keyboard. She types a lot and has be really happy with the new keyboard and its response.
    Thanks again for the help!!!

  • I purchased my iMac using the same (and only) Apple ID I use to purchase apps. Third-party apps update fine, but the apps that came with my iMac (iPhoto, iMovie, etc) bring up a message saying I have to log in with the account I used to purchase them.

I used my only Apple ID to purchase my iMac (Intel-based one).  I've never been able to update core apps that came with it.  I can update third party apps I've bought (like Coda), but when I try to update Garage Band, iPhoto, iMovie and so on, a popup message appears saying "You have updates available for other accounts" and "Log in with the account you used to purchase this app in order to update it", or similar (see screenshot above).
The OS seems to get its updates fine - it's just the core apps from the App Store.
I've only ever had one Apple ID, so I have no idea what to do.  I went to ask the Genius bar at my local Apple store, and they couldn't help, and insisted that I must have purchased the iMac using a different account, but I definitely didn't.  There are a few posts on non-Apple forums of this happening to other people, so it must be a rare bug.
I'm a little concerned it may affect my ability to update from Lion to Mountian Lion.  Can anyone help?
    Dan

Have you done a Disk Repair and a Disk Permissions Repair?
If that doesn't resolve the problem I would suggest calling customer support about this issue as it is most likely on their (Apple's) end that the problem exists.

  • Need a wireless usb adapter that works with my iMac G4 Flatscreen

I have an iMac without an airport card. I am trying to find a thrid party solution. Does anyone know of a third party wireless usb adapter that works with my Mac?
    Linda

Hi Bill I noticed that list you posted mainly shows devices that require purchasing 3rd party drivers from companies such as ioxperts.
If you use a device that has ralink chipset you can use their drivers free of charge.

  • Are original installer disk images available to replace the disks that shipped with my iMac?

I have a late 2009 27" quad core i5 iMac but I don't have the restore disks that shipped with the computer.  Are there replacement options available?
    Thank you

    YUP!
You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number. Here's a list of links to all of those - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html Another resource:  International Support Phone #s.

  • Do i have to use the cps that come with my iMac?

ok never mind that was dumb i should have opened it before asking

I just purchased the Airport Extreme today and I was wondering if I have to install the CD that came with it on all of my computers to get the most out of the Base Station.
There would only be two primary reasons that you would want to install the software from the CD on a computer:
    - You want to administer the base station from that computer
    - You want to enable "n" capability on that computer for those systems that could support it

  • Anyone else having trouble with the iMac keyboard?

I love my laptop keyboard, but the new iMac doesn't have backlight, and keys just don't feel comfortable. Suggestions?!  I've seen a couple made by Logitech, but would love to hear from anyone who has made the switch.  I bought the bluetooth keypack a while back, so would be nice to not duplicate that feature.

    Hi John,
Some of us were actually having major issues after the IOS 5 upgrade without music. Here is one solution.
Altered from original solution from Emily P:
Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
    Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
    Working now !!!!!

  • I am having problems with my optical corded mouse that came with my iMac (it's about 2 years old) It stops working periodically, and I can't figure out how to fix it; doesn't look like I can open it to clean it, or anything like that.

My corded optical mouse (model A 1152),which came with my desktop  iMac, stops working periodically.  The little tracball may work scrolling down a page, but not up, sometimes, and I have yet to figure out how to fix it, or why it happens at all.  Is there someone who has had that problem, and what did you do?

    Hello:
Turn the mouse upside down and run it (vigorously) over a piece of paper.  Better yet, run it over a microfiber cloth.

  • How can I troubleshoot this problem with the iMac keyboard? My keyboard disconnects and reconnects within seconds but all the typing is lost while it was offline.  This is usually 5 seconds or less but happens 2 or 3 times in a minute.  Annoying!

My wireless keyboard disconnects and reconnects within seconds but all text that was typed during the time offline is missing.  i have to go back and retype missing parts.  What can I do to troubleshoot this.  The computer is only about six month old.  This problem is new in the last couple weeks.  Thanks for suggestions.

Beat me to it, Donald.     But there is a possible alternative.  If the batteries have been replaced since new, were they replaced with the same batteries or another make.    There are examples around which do not fit perfectly and leave a certain amount of movement inside the battery housing.  That could lead to instability such as the OP describes.
