The current user is a local user...

Attempting to install Configuration Manager. During the prereq check we receive the following error...
"The current user is a local user and does not have domain credentials"
The account we are using does have domain credentials so we are lost.

Looks like you have reused the same IP or Domain Name twice in your domain or trying to reuse some deleted entry which was not removed completely.
Remove the machine from domain.
In your domain machine get into "Active Directory Users and Computers" find the entry for your computer under

  • Connect the current portal session to another user

We have to do application management for portal users. Often it's necessary to have the same view as the customer. So administrators need a portlet for specifying the user credentials and connecting the current portal session to this user. It's not possible to ask every user for his password.Has anybody created such a portlet? Is it possible to do this? Can I use the EDK or do I need the plumtreeserver - DLL? Which class do I need? Thanks for any help

Thank you - It works! Now I have an IPTSession-Object for the given user. But how can I set this to the current portal instance? I get only new sessions but I didn't find any way to change the current session.

  • Can I have a network user with the same name as a local user?!

I have just set up Mac OS X 10.8 SErver with Open Directory.  I have about 20 machines that I will be setting up, some which have mainly been used localy and just used to tap into Shared Files, [historically], but am wanting to use network users for better backup and support.
However some of the legacy accounts were not used on off the server...  What I have is the following :-
    a)    [Person A]  - They are a network user with Password [Password A]
    b)    The computer is [Person A], they have a Password [Password Old] (so it is different)
I have Network Account Users turned on, with a green dot! (have domain all set up)
However How do I connect using either a or b.  depending on what i feel like that day!
    ? Help any ideas.
Ultimately I will have set up all my client machines with a client admin user and standard password... but I am not there yet!

Moving from local (legacy) users to network users takes a one-time hassle of moving the contents of their local home folder contents up to the server. Using a finder copy never worked for me. What I finally found worked reliably was using rsync to copy the entire users local folder up to the server. Once on the server, move the files into place (if you didn't rsync them there directly. Finally, Chown all the files (on the server) to associate them with the correct userID on the server. If everything looks right on the server, you can test by trying to login as this user from another local Mac (but now as a network account), and hopefully their home folder looks like they expected.
Note you will need admin access in the local machine and the server to rsync their home folder. You don't want to be logged into their account while trying to copy their files up to the server.
If rsync is not your bag, a portable hard disk and/or disk image of their home folder is another way to move their stuff.
Once you've verified that their network account got to the server ok, then REMOVE the local account.

  • Change a managed user to a local user

    10.4.11 on client and server.
What is the least hassle, almost painless way to change a managed user into a local, unmanaged user?
    Thanks,
    b.

Yes. Go to System Preferences->Users & Groups->select his account, make it an admin one, log into it, and then repeat, deleting your account. Do note that to do this correctly, you should go through the steps outlined in What to do before selling or giving away your Mac - Apple Support. Also, it's illegal to pass on any OS X upgrade you installed via the App Store. Since it's tied to your AppleID, your grandson won't be able to do any updates, unless you foolishly give him your AppleID credentials—never recommended.

  • Outlook refuses to add another exchange account on the same computer on another Local User Account

So at home I have a family computer with some computer accounts.
at two of them, I installed Outlook 2013. On the first one, I added a existing Exchange account, and everything went well.
but when I tried adding another existing Exchange account (on the same domain) Outlook displayed this message about 'not being able to set up a secure connection'. both the accounts existed and are working.
Is this because of the secure mail port (465) was already occupied?
what do I have to do?
    please help me!

    Hi,
I understand that you setup one Exchange account on the first local account successfully, but failed to setup the second Exchange account on the second local account.
As for the question "Is this because of the secure mail port (465) was already occupied? " I don't think it's the cause, but anyway, we can temporarily remove the first Exchange account from the first local account, and then try to add
the second Exchange to the Second local account and see if the account can be configured successfully.
I'd also like to know whether these accounts are local administrators or standard users, are the different permissions making a difference?
If there's anything that I misunderstood, please feel free to let me know.

  • How do I make a user to update to the current flash player

I was able to gather info on how to test and display users OS and FP version. However this info is "dormant" it is just being displayed on the screen.
Does anyone know how to make an alert message to upgrade to the current Flash Player if a user runs the lower version?
If the version is as intended then no message should come up.

Check out SWFObject - it can detect the version and, if need be, prompt the user with an express installer that lets them upgrade the player without even leaving your page.

  • Changing local user to network user on the sever?

I moved a local user's home folder off a client computer to the server and made them a network user. The user can log in to the network numerous computers fine, as expected. However, the original computer where the user was a local user will not allow him to log in. It seems the original computer still thinks he is a local user and not attempting to log in to the server. Other network users can log in using the same original computer in question, only this user can not. Is there some way to check and remove the the local user? Local client computer is Leopard, server is Snow Leopard. There use to be an app called Netinfo Manager which I thought would allow something like this, but seems to have been removed with Leopard. I know I can give the user a new name and that would get around the problem, but it does not solve the problem. Any ideas, anyone? Thanks.

I recreated the user, then used dscl to delete the user. But, alas, did not solve the problem. Dug a little deeper into some other commands and found "id" which indicates that said user is part of many groups
    :~ id username
    uid=1025(username) gid=20(staff)
    groups=20(staff),215(com.apple.loginwindow.netaccounts),1025(us),102(com.apple. sharepoint.group.2)
it seems that uid 1025 is the network user id, as well 1025(us) is a group on the server; don't know where 102 come from.
It seems the client still is not looking on the server, because it immediately shakes off login.
    Any more thoughts?
    Thanks.

  • Best way to migrate local users to the network - move home folders?

    Hi everyone,
I am about to set up my Mac mini server (Snow Leopard Server). I have one iMac with three user account on it (local), another iMac that we just bought and my MacBook Pro with my admin account on it (Snow Leopard). So all have Snow Leopard.
What would be the best way to move the three local accounts AND their home folders to the server?
What would be the best way to make my portable user account into a mobile user account on the server?
I am planning to create all users on the server (with the same username and passwords etc.) then move the local home folders from the iMac to the server through some direct wired connection. My concern is with this move - will there be permissions mismatch issue? I am sure there will be as the UID would be different for the same accounts (pre-existing and newly created, eventhough their username and passwords are the same).
    Any best practices? strategies?
Does Apple have any documentation on this specific topic? - that is moving local user accounts and their corresponding home folders onto the server?
    Thanks much!
    Kenneth

    Hi again,
I haven't gotten round to it - but may have an alternative route in the mean time: the brand new 27" iMac just arrived, and rather than doing a full 'migration assistant' setup, I am going to try the following:
    1. on the new iMac: only create a local Admin account, user name totally unrelated with any other account name;
    2. on the server: settle all the network user account settings, portable home directories, managed preferences etc. for each user;
    3. on another computer: log on under the corresponding local user account, and copy one's home folder entirely to an external drive - do not use this machine again under this user account;
    4. on the new iMac: log in as a network user, make sure the home folder and library syncing works as desired, set some preferences (and check that this gets synced to the server drive); copy the parts of the home folder & library for this user from the external drive - wait until it all gets synced back and forth - and check any permissions, preferences whatever issue (the local account on the other computer is available for cross-checking, just don't change any documents or settings on that one)
    5. if all works well on the new iMac: delete this local user account on the other computer.
    6. repeat steps 3-5 for each other computer where this user has a local account (one 'old' iMac, one 13" MB) - will also allow to check and filter any duplicate documents which have accumulated over the different machines.
    7. create the network accounts for this user on the other computers, and check the syncing etc.
    8. repeat for each user (4 in total for us).
I think this might just work, since the new iMac at present has no accounts - so no possible issues with similar account names & passwords etc - and you keep the 'old' local account on the other machine as a safeguard anyway.
Any particular thoughts or comments on this proposed process??
How about permissions: does the copying to an external disk, and then back onto another computers disk solve that??

  • How to get a list of Local Users who has not logged in for 3 months or around 90 days

    hi
i found this thread to pull out a list of local users
Retrieve all local user accounts information on remote computers (PowerShell)
however, i need to filter out users who has not logged in for 3 months or around 90 days, how can i do further filtering?
i understand dsquery has an -inactive <xweeks> , however i am doing it for local accounts

    $ErrorActionPreference = "silentlycontinue"
    $([ADSI]"WinNT://$env:COMPUTERNAME").Children | where {$_.SchemaClassName -eq 'user' -and $_.lastLogin -gt (Get-Date).AddDays(-90)} | ft name,lastlogin
using the sample from the link extendend with the 90 days criteria, the erroraction preference surpresses the errors you get for accounts with no lastlogon value (guest being a typical one)

  • Dynamic Local User Issue

When i look at snapins thru consoleone i can see that Zenwork 7.0.1 snapin is installaed.
I have Novell Client 4.91 SP5 and Zenwork Client 7.0.173.91015 installed on the clients running WinXP Pro SP3.
There is different of failures that happens..
    Senario 1:
I install a Latitude D610 with a WinXP Pro SP3 original CD, from scratch. I only install the drivers for the LAN-card to get access to the network. I do not update windows updates etc.
I install the Novell Client 4.91 SP5, after that i install Zenwork Client 7.0.173.91015. And apply some registry settings to make the novell client to use the "tab-function" and hide advanced settings etc..
I have my eDir user "ADMIN1" with the policy package with settings to Dynamic Local User set to create a local user with name Admin, but im not using volatile user. So the local windows user Admin will be saved when logged out.
I login once with my Admin1 user, it creates the local profile Admin from Default User (with the help of Zenworks, and the policy Dynamic Local User?). I restart the computer and login again, and the local profile Admin craches and create a new one from Default User but this local user profile is namned Admin.Computername.
Ive tested this with atleast four other computers (different hardware) so it cant be a driver issue.
Ive looked thru the local logs, and i cant find anything about any problem with reading the NTUSER.DAT as could be a problem to load the local profile.
I even tested this senario when i update all windows updates etc, with two different version of the zenworks client and so on. ive been testning this for like 100 times now atleast. and same failure is happening. Ive even tested this in a virtual environment (vmware workstation).
    Senari 2:
Like the problem descried above, in some cases it loss the connection or something with the zenwork server side and the zenwork client on the client computer... Since it does not attempt to use the settings from Dynamic Local User, becuase i got the windows login window, and i have to login to an already existing windows local account (with otherwords i cant login to the Admin-profile since i dont know the login information to this account since its created by zenworks / dynamic local user settings, and from the settings there you cant set a password, just the name and role of the windows accout that should be created)..
And after a while i try again, and then the settings from Dynamic Local User passes by and log into the, (let me say) Zenworks created local user profile (set by Dynamic Local User settings).
I wanna mention that all computers thats old, no reinstallation.. I can login to without problem, without any crashes of the Windows Local Profile.
Ive succeded once without any Windows Local profile crash, rebooted this computer over and over again, and no failure. If you succed twice, it seems like its fine. But then i reinstalled this computer, just like i did to make it success. But this time it failed on the second try, and got a crashed profile....
Its kinda old hardware to the server where i have my Zenworks, could that be the case? Could it be some timeouts?
The concults i use to fix some problems in our environment updated zenworks from the serverside just before christmans.. Could it be any problems with some windows patch etc?
    Any help would be appreciated!

I only know of one XP SP3 issue that could cause this, but it involves a pw

"When you try to log on to a Windows XP SP3-based computer by using a

  • Deleting local user profile on RDS without reboot

I need to delete the local profile for a user on our RDS server, because of a problem with this user.
Since the user was using RDS a few days ago, and RDS wasn’t rebooted since, I can’t delete the local profile. When I go to advanced system settings—user
profiles. The ‘delete’ option is greyed out.
I know that I can reboot the server then will be able to delete it, but since this server is serving many users, it means they all have to stop using it.
Is there a way to delete this user’s profile without rebooting the server?
    I use sever 2008 R2.
    Thanks

    Hi,
A local user profile is created the first time a user logs on to a computer. The profile is stored on the computer's local hard disk. Changes made to the local user
profile are specific to the user and to the computer on which the changes are made.
Windows security requires a user profile for each user account on a computer. The system automatically creates a local user profile for each user when the user logs
on to the computer for the first time. The system automatically maintains the settings for each user's work environment in a user profile on the local computer.
Windows Vista and later: User profiles are managed through the
User Accounts control (UAC) panel item.
    You can open the
Control Panel and click User Accounts, then click the Change User Account Control setting, dropped to the lowest turn off UAC. Press OK.
Then you can use administrator account try again to see whether you can delete the local user profile or not.

  • How to now the Current Directory

Hi everyone, i have a little problem, i dont'n know how to get the name of the current directory where i have the .jar file of my applet, and i need to know which is this directory to do something on it.
How could i know the current directory?...
    Thanks.

    Hi.
You can not get the current directory: applets can not access the hard drive. Instead you can get the code location, which will given the current directory if running locally.
Try this: within the applet do : getCodeBase(). This will give you an URL to the code of the Applet, that is the JAR file.
    Hope this helps,
