The icons on the screen of my laptop are too large. How can I make them smaller. I have right

the icons on the screen of my laptop are much too large. I don't know how they got that way.  I want them to return to the smaller ones. I have right clicked on the desktop and clicked on making icons and other things smaller.  this made the items on the bar at the bottom much smaller but did nothing for the icons all over the screen. What else can I do.  I am using Windows 7  HP pavillion dv7 notebook

Hi,
Left click on an empty area of the Desktop to ensure it's the active window, then hold down the Ctrl key and use the scroll area of the Touchpad to adjust the size.
Regards,
