The keyword "this"

Hi,
I was looking at a source code and I saw a very weird statement that to my knowledge contradict with some Object-Oriented Programming concepts. The statement is something like:
Component comp = Component.this;
what I know is that using the class name we can access static properties and methods, but the "this" keyword refers to an instance of the class. I'm trying to get sense of this statement. Can someone help? Thanks.
Regards
Tariq A.
======

it's necessary at least in following scenario
class a
  int component;
  class b
    int component;
    public void method()
       // instance of class a
       a.this
      // instance of class b
       this? or b.this
      // and this leads to...
       a.this.component
      // and
       b.this.component
}Or something like that at least...

  • After reset my Firefox no longer opens web pages automatically when I type the keywords in the Location bar. How do I fix this?

    Before I reset my Firefox I was able to just type words in the Location bar and Firefox would redirect me to the website. For example, typing "reservoir dogs imdb" would redirect to the IMDB page of this movie, and typing a random sequence of characters would take me to (for example) a website of some company that uses these characters as the abbreviation of its name.
    I never set this option anywhere, it was just like that for quite a long time. Now this possibility is gone for me and I can't seem to fix it.
    I use the laters Mozilla Firefox 21.

    Starting with Firefox 23 the keyword.URL pref is no longer supported and it is no longer possible to specify the search engine for the location bar that way (keyword.enabled still works to disable this search).
    The search engine that is used on the location bar and on the about:home page is the search engine that is selected in the search Bar on the Navigation Toolbar.
    You can install the Keyword Search extension to specify with search engine to use for the location bar and which search engine to use for the about:home page via the Options/Preferences windows of this extension, accessible via the about:addons page.

  • How do I filter photos using the keyword hierarchy?

    Since Aperture 3.1 came out, I've been taking another look at it and considering switching back from Lightroom. One baby step was to set up a proper keyword hierarchy with Aperture. Trying to use that for sorting photos, I started feeling incredibly frustrated and felt like I must be missing something screamingly obvious.
    Here's my issue. Using the keyword HUD, I can set up a nested, hierarchical keyword list. The HUD helpfully displays a running tally of all photos that keyword is applied to. "Great!" I thought, I've got 46 photos of John Smith, let's take a look at them. So I click on the number. Apparently, while Aperture is happy to show you the number of photos with the keyword, it's not willing to take you to those photos (i.e., create a library filter and show the results) via the Keyword HUD.
    Bringing up the filter HUD seems unhelpful for the opposite reason. While you can search via the keywords there, it doesn't show the keyword hierarchy! Am I missing something? Say I've got keywords for two people, Adam and Zoe, filed under People/Friends/. Using the keyword box in the filter HUD will list one at the beginning and the other at the end of my entire list of keywords. Worse, the filter HUD only seems helpful for keywords if you know which ones you're looking for, which defeats the point of using a hierarchy. If, say, I know there's 3 or 4 people I'm looking for under a particular category, but I can't remember their name of the top of my head, how do I go about finding them using the filter HUD? All I have is the long, uncategorized master list of keywords.
    Again, I feel I must be missing something obvious. Thanks for your help.
    Cheers.

    I agree, clicking on a keyword in the HUD that has a number after it to get those photos seems like a no brainer. Even though I know it doesn't do that I still find myself clicking on it before I catch myself. Need to send feedback to Apple on this, clicking on a keyword should create a filter to and display those images.
    In your example the images of Adam and Zoe should be tagged with the keywords that apply to them. That is they would have the keywords people, friends, male or female, Adam or Zoe, and whatever other keywords you use to describe these images. Then you check as many keywords in the filter that apply and you can remember.
    While the keyword HUD shows the keywords in a hierarchy, keywords applied to an image are one dimensional, linear. Its just a string of words without structure. The hierarchy is just there to make it easier to conceptualize the structure.

  • I have two related keyword problems.  Some keywords get "broadcast" to every photo in an event.  It's almost impossible to delete these keywords from individual photos.  I select the keyword, hit delete and it reappears after a few seconds.

    I have two related problems with keywords in iphoto 11.  Sometimes, keywords get magically "broadcast" to every photo in an event or album.  It's difficult to delete these keywords.  If I select one and try to delete it it vanishes.  About half the time, it reappears again either in a couple of seconds or after I go to another photo and then return to the previous one.  When thios happens, I need to delete the keyword two or more times before it actually vanishes.  With several hundred photos in an event that all have a bad keyword, this is a tedious process.  I've tried rebuilding the library once, but with only the first (I think) option checked on the rebuild.

    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Why can I no longer find my podcast under the keywords in my feed?

    We're having problems with our podcast showing up on itunes. A few weeks ago, our podcast just stopped appearing under the proper keyword searches. Our podcast is called Sequence Break XIV and out itunes url is: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/sequence-break-xiv/id455566304
    The keywords you should commonly be able to find us under are FFXIV, Final Fantasy XIV, and Final Fantasy. Not only is our podcast no longer under those search terms, but almost every podcast that used to be under the search term "FFXIV" has disappeared except for two.  It really just looks like something is buggy here. When you first search for "FFXIV" for example, the screen that pops up shows all the different media you can look under. The "Podcasts" section shows a preview of three podcasts. Yet when you click on the podcasts section, only 2 podcasts show up. So something is wrong here.
    Our feed can be found at http://zantetsuken.net/feed/podcast
    We haven't changed the feed details at all besides episode updates. We really need to know what's going on ASAP. Although our podcast comes up when you search for things like Sequence Break XIV or SBXIV, or terms that specifically deal with our podcast, the most important terms that I mentioned earlier (FFXIV, Final Fantasy XIV, and Final Fantasy) don't show us at all. It only seems to affect the most popular and most important search terms. But all those terms are in the keyword field are on our feed. New listeners interested in Final Fantasy XIV won't be able to find us this way.

    I still can't see it. I had two other people try to look it up and they can't see it as well. This has been tried in WIndows 7 and Mac OSX. Both with fully updated iTunes applications. I'm also worried about the other keywords associated with my podcast not bringing it up either. Searching FFXIV only brings up the first two podcasts for me. Searching Final Fantasy XIV brings up a ton of podcasts, but ours isn't listed. Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing when I search for FFXIV.

  • Anyone else finding that the keyword editor doesn't refresh properly upon changes

    When I have a clip with multiple keywords and I want to delete one of the keywords in the keyword editor, I find that the editor window refreshes incorrectly. The results are accurate but the editor appears to erase the wrong keyword.   Not the worst bug, but annoying.  It reminds we of the refresh problems in the browser when applying custom names 10.1.

    but any time I do a find for a certain keyword,
    Try the find menu (edit/find or cmd+F). In Source choose your main folder all your files are in. Criteria choose keyword and fill in one of the keywords you want.
    Be sure to have a checkmark in fornt of the options 'Include all subfolders' and 'include Non indexed files'.
    Hit find and let Bridge do it's searching. This first time may take a bit long but now Bridge starts indexing all files. After this you should be able to use the option for finding keywords as normal.

  • Can't drag keywords to top level in the keyword HUD

    After having imported my iPhoto library into Aperture 3, I found the keyword HUD cluttered with all of my 300+ keywords, many of which were duplicated. No idea why that is, but anyway. Some of them now live on top level, some on second floor under the main keyword "iPhoto", some of them are duplicates, some are not. That's the situation.
    So I want to (a) drag some of them to first level, (b) build my own hierarchy, and (c) consolidate those duplicates that are alloted on separate levels. Now I find myself in trouble. Technically, I can drag any second level keyword from one to another first level keyword, but then they remain always on second floor. I find no way to move it to *first level* in the HUD.
    I know that this can be done when the keyword HUD is almost empty. In that case, I drag it to the bottom of the list, see a white border pop up around the HUD, and let go. Simple. But not when the HUDs filled up to the brim?
    Am I missing something?

    OK ... but you're gonna groan. This is, btw, a long-standing bug (but still an excellent question).
    Use the search field to search for the keyword you want to move.
    Take advantage of the now empty space in the Keyword HUD to move the keyword.
    Clear the search field.
    Note that if you set up a well-organized hierarchical keyword list (which seems to be your goal), you can use the other work-around, which is to collapse all levels of the outline.
    You might find these remarks on merging duplicates helpful:

  • Bug with Lightroom 4? - Big problem in the keyword list!!

    Hello guys,
    I am Rafael Rojas, a nature and landscape photographer. This is my first post, trigered by a quite bothering problem I am having with my LR...So hello everybody!
    I upgraded to LR 4 a week ago. Today I realized many of the keywords I have installed in Lightroom do not appear on the keyword list (basically all keywords after the letter S). Moreover, half of the keywords which appear on the list are not editable: that is, I cannot assign them to the selected image (by clicking on the left box), or I cannot double click them or right click them to get the Edit panel. All the rest of keywords (those which appear on the list on top), can be edited and there is no problem.
    When I export the keywords as a .txt file (in metadata, export keywords) I can see that all the keywords are there. When I try to write some of them on the box LR recognize them and adds them automatically. However, I just cannot see them on my keyword list or just cannot edit them.
    The reason I want to edit the keywords is because many of them got desactivated while upgrading (something more people have reported). Right now, I cannot send my images to my stock galleries, since many of my important keywords are not active, and I just cannot edit them...
    Can you help me please?
    thanks so much!!
    rafael

    Well, 64 bits.
    And yes, it seems when I erase one keyword, the list "shows" one more below...so it seems the problem is related to a certain limit in number.
    That would be still a problem I could live with, the big problem tough is that many of the keywords got "deactivated" alone by Lightroom (see problem here described http://www.backyardsilver.com/2012/02/strange-behavior-with-capitalized-keywords/) and that means I NEED to edit some keywords which are really important and which are not active. Otherwise, when I export the images those keywords are not embedded...
    Any thoughts?
    Rafa

  • Why the keyword delimiter in Library is a "," and in the search field for dynamic collection it is a space?

    PC Windows 8.1
    Lightroom 5.6 and 6
    Hello I have a problem with Lightroom 5 and 6 on the keywords and dynamic collections:
    Let me explain: I take pictures of people and I put as keyword on each photo the full names of people who are in the picture.
    - If the photo contains a person Toto Smith, I put as keywords Toto Smith.
    - If the photo contains a person Toto Smith and Smith to Titi I put Toto Smith, Tito Smith
    and so on
    Imagine I have another picture or there Titi Yellow, Jean Dupon. Toto Blue
    Now when I make my dynamic collection and I look the pictures "Contains everything" "Toto Dupon" and Titi Dupon, I will have in my collection also contains the photo: Titi Yellow, Jean Dupon. Toto Blue although in the latter there is neither Toto Smith nor Titi Smith.
    This is because in searches for dynamic collections separator is not "," like keywords, but space.
    How can I do my research without renaming all my keywords with a "_" between first name ans dlast name as this: firstname_lastname?
    I think there is a problem of consistency, either you use the space as a delimiter anywhere either you use the comma, but the mixture of the two is not a good idea
    Thank you

    I see that it is a very very long  and old issue.

  • In previous version, when typing the keyword "gmail" or "ebay" or "amazon" firefox went directly to the webpage, but in version 4 it stops at google. how do I get it to be like the old one?

    it was so convenient before, and how I got most people to convert to Firefox - just type in the keyword, like "ebay" or "hotmail" and firefox found the webpage for you.
    you say firefox 4 is faster, but now I get redirected to google first, which in version 3 only happened if Firefox wasn't sure of the right homepage.
    how do I get it to be like the old one? if not, I think I'm going back to version 3. which was a lot faster because of this.

    The change between Firefox 3.6.* and Firefox 4 is how location bar search works. In Firefox 3.6 it uses Google "Browse by name" search. With the browse by name search, it performs a Google search and if there is a clear match it will take you to the site, otherwise it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it just performs a Google search if you type something which is not recognised as a URL.
    To get the Firefox 3.6 behaviour on Firefox 4 you need to change a hidden preference.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''keyword.URL''', double-click on it and change its value to the link shown below

  • How do you get PSE12 to stop opening the keyword menu at the top of the screen

    How do you get PSE12 to stop opening the keyword menu at the top of the screen when you want to isolate tagged photos?????????????
    it takes up 1/4 of the screen. This is so stupid. PSE10 had it done right, just a click box and boom all the photos tagged would be there!
    This makes NO sense the way it is done now.
    How do you turn it off, please . I am ready to send this back to amazon and go back to 10.

    In the process of reformatting my macbook pro, I saved everything but my keyword list.  The keywords are with the images, but the total list I use under "Keywords" is not present.  Is there a way to re-create all my keywords I've used over the last 6 years.

    I accomplished what I needed last night.  I remembered I had picked my favorite images from each year and put them in a "favorite" folder by year.  These folders included 500 to 1200 images per year.  I pulled up the folder for each year and highlighted all images and clicked on "Keywords" and all keywords used for all images were listed.  I made those keywords persistent.  It took me a while to realize I had to click on each keyword to make it persistent.  After doing this for all years, I assume 95% of all keywords I have used over the many years were back in my list.  I'm sure there is probably a more "technical" way to accomplish what I needed, but this seems to have worked.  I also exported my list into a word document and is saved on my hard drive.
    If I had not made folders with my favorite images for each year, I could not have used this method, so if you figure out a better way, I like to hear it.  Thanks for your comments and willingness to help.

  • Can add the "keywording" panel in the Develop tab?

    Can add the "keywording" panel in the Develop tab?
    In my workflow, I rate or tag a photo only after I've made some PP adjustment. So, my workflow would flow better if the "keywording" tab resided in the Development tab as well. Is this possible? Can you add a panel from another tab?

    Not just keywords. Well.. I try to salvage borderline photos first through development, and add keywords if they come out right. If not, I reject the photos without adding any keywords.
    dj_paige wrote:
    As CatOne2 said, you can't do this.
    The Lightroom paradigm, for better or worse, is that you add keywords in the Library module.
    I cannot imagine why you would need to first post-process a photo before you know what keywords to add. Can you explain why you feel this is necessary?
