We are using 10g RAC On Solaris 5.10
Very freuently,we are getting the below message in DB Console
The SGA was inadequately sized, causing additional I/O or hard parses.
Additional Information
The value of parameter "sga_target" was "15360 M" during the analysis period.
Under recommendations,
I found that
Increase the size of the SGA by setting the parameter "sga_target" to 30720 M.

If you are running Oracle on a dedicated server, it's wasteful NOT to allocate all of the RAM to Oracle, less 20% for the OS . . .
Lastly, remember that Oracle has an insatiable appetite for RAM, but there is a point of diminishing marginal return . . .

I got the Following error in my Production server's (Oracle10g with AIX 5.3 platform ) PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS part of OEM :
"The SGA was inadequately sized, causing additional I/O or hard parses." And it shows the Impact result of Database 1.4% .
In present my SGA size is = 9584 MB , And oracle itself recommended to increase it to = 19168 MB (that means twice time of the present value) .
And my total OS Ram size = 32 GB
In this moment , can anybody plz suggest me ,
For increasing the SGA Size , which things(or Database related matters) I need to consider .
OR
Can I face any major problem If I increase the SGA size ?

What is the oracle version you are using??
Why do you want to increase the RAM size.Its already 32GB.Why don't you increase the SGA.How many databases are installed on the server.Is there some other applications running on the server.

Let me get the specs out of the way
OS: Windows Adv Srv 2003 SP2
Oracle: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0
Memory: 10 GB
When I run ADDM report (in OEM), I'm constantly getting "The PGA was inadequately sized, causing additional I/O to temporary tablespaces to consume significant database time."
this is my sga params
SQL> show sga
Total System Global Area 264241152 bytes
Fixed Size 1412268 bytes
Variable Size 99185492 bytes
Database Buffers 159383552 bytes
Redo Buffers 4259840 bytes
I have Automatic Shared Memory Management enabled.
total SGA is 252 MB
Aggregate PGA Target is 1536 MB
what else can I do? I'm sitting around 1.75 GB between sga and pga and its pushing close to the 2 GB Windows per process memory limit.
any suggestions????

Check v$pga_target_adivce what would be the proper size of PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET

BTW. You can overcome the 2GB limit on windows.

Is there a possibility to switch off in Firefox the functionality of quick launch key (additional key in laptop) that cause to run the homepage. I would like to switch this functionality off, because the key is malfunctioned and always pressed. I was able to switch off the functionality of this key in Windows system by deleting entries in registry Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AppKey. After this change, when somebody works in system the Firefox is not running is not launching all the time. But when I open the Firefox the setting in system is overwritten and when I am using it Firefox returns to the homepage instantly. I think because of this quick launch button. I tried to change settings in about:config like browser.startup.homepage, browser.startup.homepage_override, startup.homepage_override_url,… this is for Firefox version is 10.0.2

After these changes in registry the behavior of the button was suppressed, the Firefox stopped to start unexpectedly all the time – so in system it works. But the problem is still when I have opened Firefox. Every time when you want to surf in internet – the homepage is activated also unexpectedly. I wrote this post with intention to ask if there is a possibility to switch off the functionality of this quick launch button in Firefox. Because I assume Firefox overrides the system setup – this I have made in registry. I tried with some option changes in about:config but without success. And I know that for older versions of firefox was some option in about:config do disable_quick launch button. But in 10.0.2 I couldn't locate it.

Sizing the SGA

Hi,
I would like to know how to size the initial SGA size while creating the database.
What are the things that we have to consider for sizing the SGA?
If we have to consider if it is OLTP/DSS system, how many concurrent transactions, how many users and all, then provide me a detailed info, like if there are 100 users assign this much space, and so on.

See Rajesh, Tuning is not a rocket science, It can not be learned at the rate of knotes. coming back to your question, you assume your database is going to be used for OLTP, well, even that case, there are number of things still matters.
these are...
1. what would be the size of your database ?
2. No of cuncurrent users conneted to oracle database?
3. What are the physcial resources you have (cpu's, memory etc) ?
4. Amount of sorting peromed by each session.
5 Many more ....
But if you really like to make an educative guess, then you can start with optimal values and increase the size according to demand. Yinguan is already suggested you to go through with tuning guide, which is the basic need for that person like to jump into tuning ocean.

few days ago I have purchased Iphone casino games from itunes apps store. One of the game was made by the company called "ARISTOCRAT" dragan game. Usually we will get basic tokens to play the game, and if we ran out of the tokens all we need to do is going into "manu" and "setting" selete "dream" and reset that we should be able to continue play the game with same amount of the basic tokens. The one game would not let us to go back to the game. There were msg came out said" game center requires an active connection to the internet"? I didn't feel comfortable because we purchased the game for $1.99 to play for fun and not to gamble. We do have credit card on your file. We don't want to be charged alot of money for something not in our well. I need help to answer the question on the following:
1. Are we able to ever play this game again without going to internet? We don't even know which site to go to, because when we press the ok button nothing else came out to direct us to any area.
2. We only purchased the few days ago order ID: MGT74GN6V7 on 10/03/12. all the other games we purchased we were able to continue to play by doing the same setting.

How can I get Firefox to stop causing "The connection was interrupted"?

I've recently upgraded to Firefox 3.6.22 on my MacOSX 10.5.8 system. I connect to the internet via GoogleWifi. That connection now consistently fails immediately after Firefox launches when there is no Cache (I clear it every time I Quit from Firefox). Safari can make the connection, but Firefox consistently reports: "Problem loading page." "The connection was interrupted." Attempting to "Try Again" does no good, it still fails.

This is not helpful because 7.0.1 does not meet my System Requirements. There is no Mac OS X 10.4 version, and I always install the same version on all my systems. I've also read several reports of "problems" with 7.0.1, and wouldn't trust it on my 10.5 (Leopard) system.

I keep getting a message saying the game was purchased by a different ID so it won't let me buy additional items. I have never had a different ID.

The game belongs to your wife, as it was downloaded using her ID. If you want unrestricted use of it, download it using your own ID.

I recently updated and after completion the selection format was changed. Under internet Netflix was no longer an option. I have tried unplugging the unit to no avail. The problem was clearly caused by the update. Help

Check that your location settings are correct.
Try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds, or resetting it using the reset option under general from the settings menu.
Are you getting any time and date error messages.

If you are in Test System, you can use function module AA_AFABER_DELETE to totally delete the depreciation area (tcode SE37, specify chart of depreciation and depreciation area), After that recreate your depreciation area and run AFBN. But before you do that, have you created a retirement transaction type that limits the posting on your new depreciation area? If not create one.
