Theme changes don´t take effect

Hi,
I recently wondered why the theme of my LXDE installations doesn´t really look good:
http://upload.worldofplayers.de/files10/lxde.jpg
Particulary, Midori is rather ugly:
However, other screenshots of LXDE proove that it can look much better:
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/images/1 … t_LXDE.png
Sometimes Midori looks really nice, for instance in this screenshot:
http://midori-browser.org/images/screen … ressed.png
In order to change the appearance, I´ve already installed gtk-engines. Now I have several themes like Clearlooks at choice in LXAppearance. Unfortunately, clicking the apply-button doesn´t affect the appearance, neither the preview window.
What´s going wrong?
Please excuse linguistic mistakes, i´m from Germany.
Thanks!

.xinitrc:
exex startlxde
lightdm.conf (I removed the unused lines):
[LightDM]
minimum-vt=1
run-directory=/run/lightdm
greeter-session = lightdm-gtk3-greeter
display-setup-script = /usr/bin/lightdmxrandr
[SeatDefaults]
session-wrapper=/etc/lightdm/Xsession
display-setup-script =/usr/bin/lightdmxrandr
users.conf:
[UserList]
minimum-uid=1000
hidden-users=nobody nobody4 noaccess
hidden-shells=/bin/false /usr/bin/nologin
Besides, I forgot to mention that I´m using a virtual machine, namely VMWare Player.
As you may have seen, the font is rather hard to read in Midori.
What is also remarkable is that the system reacts often very sluggishly, especially when clicking the LXDE button or marking text.

  • Screensaver changes don't take effect

    I went into System Preferences/Desktop&ScreenSaver/Screensaver/Options to change a couple of things, and then I went into Hot Corners to add hot corners, but after I exited the Screensaver screen, none of my changes took effect. There doesn't seem to be any OK or Apply button to start any of the changes... How can I get my changes to work?

  • Changes in iAS6.5's web.xml don't take effect

    After the cust deployed his application he modified some parameters in
    the web.xml file of his application. He then restarted the application
    server after but the changes didn't take effect. Is this the
    expected behavior as they would need to custom web.xml
    and expand the war file before deploying to see the changes reflected in the
    pages because changing those after deployment doesn't work.
    Thanks for your help,

  • Business Event Subscription Changes don't take immediate effect

    Hi, it seems that whenever I make changes to my business event subscriptions the changes only take effect the next day. (Almost like there is some concurrent request running at night, or something bounced to make the changes) Does anybody know what needs to be bounced, or what concurrent request needs to be run to make the changes take effect.
    I'm using Oracle Applications: 12.0.4 under the "Workflow Administrator" responsibility.

  • Online Plan change doesn't take effect!

    After over  a decade and a half  of being with AT&T I switched here.   Last month I changed my plan online (minutes) .  When I submitted the change last month, the message said "It will take effect next cycle on 05/10/2011".   Now I see my next bill now, and the plan has not changed!   I just tried calling customer service and they've some technical issues and can't pull up any billing info temporarily !    I just don't understand when I saw it said the plan change was confirmed and it will take effect and now it's the same plan !  So now I did it again and it says now it will take effect 06/10/2011!   This time I printed the  daamnn thing to make sure there's nothing funky going on!   I'm really ticked off.

    Personally, I would make the plan change immediate and just pay the prorates since you are wanting the plan changed and you are having trouble with getting it changed on the next billing cycle

  • Siebel responsibilities changes will not take effect unless restarting serv

    I am having a problem in Siebel where I change the responsibility for a user and then I go to Application administration--.responsibilities and clearing the cache for the changes to take effete however the changes are not taking effect unless I restart the Siebel application services which I cannot do anytime I need to change the responsibility for a user especially that I have 3 Siebel servers. If anyone experienced this issue of have a solution I would appreciate the assistance. I am having this issue in 3 environments, dev test and prod. I am using LDAP authentication for the Call Center AOM and one of my test labs I am using DB authentication but I am having this problem as well.
    Thanks in advance for the assistance.

    The reason is most likely due to the fact that you ObjectManager Session is running within a different MT Server process then that of the other use. When you click the clear cache button it only clears the Responsibility cache of the Object Manager process (PID) where you session is running. This would explain the reasoning shared about the multiple languages as when connected to theENU object manager you'd be clearing that object managers cache but not for the other languages.
    This however would only be working if there were only a single Object Manager process running per language.
    If you are familiar with the Server Management/Configuration screens you could try doing a Server Component Reconfiguration for the Object Manager in question, then asking the user to logout and log back in. The Reconfiguration process will allow currently running user sessions to continue while new session will be directed to a new Process Id (PID) - aka Multi-Threaded(MT) Server process for the Object Manager.
    This should take care of all instances of the Object Manager across Servers within your enterprise without requiring a Server Restart.

  • Proxy settings of chrome or chromium don't take effect

    I'm using archlinux+kdemod 4.5.
    The proxy setting of all versions of chrome or chromium seems not to take effect because my ip address doesn't change(http://www.ip-adress.com/) .

  • My reviews don't take effect in the iTunes store.

    My issue is with leaving reviews. Mine don't seem to take effect in the iTunes store.
    This is the most explicit example I got : When I try to edit a review that I know I posted, I have literally nothing, instead of my previous review. It's like I never reviewed the article. It's like this for every article: apps, music, movies or TV Shows ...
    Of course I don't find my review if I search for it manually.
    Sincerely.

    iTunes store support is taking care of the problem, thank you.

  • Group dock settings in WGM don't take effect

    Hi,
    when I change the settings for the dock in a group, users logging in still get what they had before. I set it to always manage this setting.
    I've tried both adding it to their dock and not, nothing works. Is there a secret "Apply now" button somewhere?
    Clients and Server are 10.4.6.
    Any hints would be appreciated.
    Torsten
    This quote from the manual does not prove true for me: "You can update a computer’s managed preference cache regularly. The computer checks the server for updated preferences according to the schedule you set. The cache is also updated automatically every time a change is made to any of the managed preferences within Workgroup Manager." Rebooting doesn't do the trick either.

    Keep in mind that there are Dock settings at the Computer level, at the Group level, and at the individual User level. The system will try to combine them in a reasonable way.
    If a setting for each User is managed always, group settings will have little or no effect.

  • Non-scrolling topic - CSS change doesn't take effect

    I am trying to create a non-scrolling region in WebHelp, RH 9. I followed some instructions to change the style tag for the area that I don't want to have scroll to position="fixed." Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to change my output at all and the region scrolls just fine.
    I don't want to go the frame route. Any ideas? Here is the CSS code for the style. It appears at the top of the page, and I want it to stay at the top for all topics.
    H2 {
    font-weight: bold;
    font-size: 18.0pt;
    position: fixed;
    left: 0px;
    right: 0px;
    width: 100%;
    top:-24px;
    background-color: #ffffff;

    Hi all,
    About the need for non-scrolling regions: I just want to mention that as I was very happy to have found ways to add a non-scrolling region to topics for my online help, this once non-negotiable requirement from my client became less relevant when we decided to chunk the information, based on an information architecture, in such a way that the bulk of the text in a topic is never very long. In cases where there is a need for more information, I have used drop-down text to keep the page as short as possible and allow the reader to see the information at a glance. In early user testing of the online help, we did not use non-scrolling regions and the users never noticed it and never required it since they rarely had to scroll the pages to get the information.
    If ever you cannot find a way to make non-scrolling region work with your online help, maybe chunking your information may be something to consider, although I understand that it implies some or a lot of work and that it might not fit your timeline for delivery.

  • Permission changes won't take effect

    Using 10.4.11 on my iMac, I'm trying to change permissions for my iTunes folder (and many others). It's in Users>MBP>Music, having been moved from a previous user. I went into Get Info, unlocked it, switched it to MBP for read/write, and clicked "Apply to Enclosed Items."
    The red blocked symbol remains. What have I left out? Or what else might interfere with this?

  • Modelsupport2.dll changes don't take affect

    Running TestStand 4.0 and LabWindows/CVI 9.0.1.
    Followed instructions per http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/A6D0EF1F4FE5EC94862570AE000CE374 to change my test socket numbers to be non zero based for batch model.  Also modified paralleluutdlg.c to increase the MAX_NUM_TEST_SOCKETS_VISIBLE 6 (used to be 5).
    The modelsupport2.dll compiled successfully, but the changes do not occur when I run my sequence file using the batch model; i.e., the test sockets still start from 0 instead of 1 and the number of visible sockets is 5 and not 6.
    I checked the configured search directories and the user components directory (containing my modified files) is ahead of the default NI components directory as desired.
    Am I missing a required step here?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi George,
    The KnowledgeBase article you are referring to is for the parallel model, not the batch model. However, if you open the batchuutdlg.c and search for the same line of test as described in the KB and add "+1" to it, it should work. I have confirmed that it works on my end. Just to make sure this is clear, this only changes the dialog box and will not change the numbering in the process model. Changing that numbering requires a much more extensive effort.
    Regarding the MAX_NUM_TEST_SOCKETS_VISIBLE 6 change, I have also done this and it does show 6 visible batches in the dialog box. Please keep in mind that you need to just replace the number without changing the spacing on the line. You will also need to go into Configure->Model Options and change the Number of Test Sockets to 6 to ensure that you see the 6 visible batches. Changing this will cause the window to expand over the "Go" and "Stop" buttons so there will have to be more extensive changes to move those buttons down. I hope this helps address your question!

  • Changes don't take

    When I make changes to a raw file's settings in LR, nothing gets changed on the file as seen in Bridge or Camera Raw. What am I doing wrong?
    (I have the automatically export XMP data box checked. But that is not relevant to settings anyway, is it?)
    I am using LR 1.3 and PS CS2 w/ Camera Raw 3.7, on a Mac G4, OSX 10.4.6.
    Thanks,
    Dean

    Lee,
    Okay, I am confused. I thought maybe that box applied to metadata like keywords, copyright, etc., but not image settings. (The "sync" buttons in the interface seem to differentiate between meatdata and settings.)
    In any event, the box IS checked.
    To be honest, I have never understood why anyone would NOT want all changes in either software to automatically transfer. That has always been a mystery to me. But in any event, I want it to.

  • Updated to applypreferences.sh file but the changes did not take effect - h

    my user requested to increase the number of rows allow to retrieve when running a report, I made changes to applypreferences.sh file but when closed all session of Discoverer Viewer and open it again, viewing the preferences for this report, the "*Limit retrieved query data to:* still remain 10,000 ( changed to 80,000). did anyone have the same problem ? please advise

    Hi,
    After making changes to applypreferences.sh file you need to save it and then close,but before doing that see to that discoverer components all are closed.And restart the services so it will be applied.
    If the above dont apply still then if you want to change to specific 1 or 2 users then you can login as the users and go to tools/options and change the record count.
    Hope this helps you.

  • RDS Gateway - Why are RAP changes requiring reboot to take effect?

    I have Win2k8R2 with RDS Gateway. I am using AD groups in a RAP to define which network resources can be accessed by users. For the most part, it's working as expected, but I am finding that changes to the AD group (e.g. remove a server) are not taking effect
    immediately. Users are still able to establish a new connection to a server that has been removed from the AD group. If I reboot the RDS GW, the change seems to take effect, and the users can no longer access the removed server.
    While I haven't tested it extensively yet, the change may also take effect after a period of time, without requiring a reboot ... but this doesn't help me either. I need to have such changes take immediate effect.
    I've searched the web without luck, this is an awkward topic to get meaningful results on. Can someone tell me definitively when changes to AD groups take effect in the RAP ... and how I can force it to take immediate effect (without a reboot)?
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hi Dharmesh,
    Yes I tried that suggestion, but it made no difference. I don't believe it has anything to do with the Domain Users group, because the problem does resolve itself - after a reboot (without having to change any group membership).
    I've just confirmed this situation again yesterday ... on 2 occasions I made changes to AD group memberships that are referenced in RAPs. I added a user to the group to enable them access. Both times I waited at least 5 minutes after making
    the changes, but the users still couldn't connect. I ensured all domain controllers had the AD group changes replicated ... users still couldn't connect. I rebooted the RDGW server (I am using a single server, not RD Session Host farm), and that immediately
    fixed it. So the problem is still present. It feels as if RDGS is caching AD group membership.
