Thinking of cancelling all 8 contracts because of the RAZR

I have had my Driod Razr ever since it first came out. I was never really impressed with it to begin with because the battery life is AWFUL....even with the help of apps like JuiceDefender and Advanced Task Manager- it dies within a few hours of usage. The phone also heats up to the point where I have to put it down because it is burning my hand. I went to the Verizon store after having it for 10 days and begged them to switch it out for a different phone because it was within the 14 day return period. The sales rep told me to try it for a full month and that it was the hottest and most advanced phone on the market. He told me that if I still didn't like it after the month I could return to see him and he would let me return it and exchange it. I went after testing it for a month, but the rep was no longer working with Verizon. When I told the manager what the rep had told me, the manager told me the same thing- "this is the hottest and most advanced phone on the market. You won't get a better phone than this. You don't want to downgrade yourself." I didn't want to downgrade and this was my first Droid phone so I kept it believing that Verizon had my best interest in mind.
For the last few months, I had issues with my Driod RAZR that have been getting progressively worse. The hepatic feedback on the screen went crazy! If I touch the bottom of the screen, the top drop-down notification list opens up. I couldn't select any apps because as soon as tap on one for some reason another app opens.
I can't use the keyboard because, for example, if I tapped a "t" on the keyboard an "a" would show up.... none of the letters would respond and it would come up with completely wrong letters and words. Then it started going crazy and rapidly typing all sorts of letters by itself and rapidly opening all different programs. It also restarted itself several times throughout the day. It randomly calls people. My device is completely useless at this point.
I went to the Verizon store (an official one) and one of the reps there told me that the original RAZR has had so many problems that they don't even sell it at the store anymore. He did a hard-reset on my phone and it still didn't stop the problems. He suggested that I call Verizon customer service and tell them my concerns over the phone. He also told me to request that they send me a new and different model of the Driod RAZR called the Driod RAZR MAXXX HD. I did not have much time for him to go over all of the specs of the MAXX HD but he told me that it has one of the best battery life's out there and that all of the bugs were worked out of this model.
I called customer service and explained the phone deal. They told me they couldn't send me anything other than a re-certified original Droid RAZR. I felt let down and quite upset as this rep from the store promised me they would send me the new and better MAXX HD if I requested it. I just want a reliable phone.
I received the re-certified Droid RAZR and have had it for 2 days now. It has the SAME exact issue as my original RAZR. The erratic hepatic feedback is driving me insane PLUS the phone won't charge past 40% making die within 3 hours of NO usage. I have more problems with the re-certified phone they sent me than the original pain in the butt phone I had. This phone also heats up to a higher temp than my original. The temp gauge on the phone read 120 degrees where on my original it has reached a high of 114 degrees.
I am not quite sure what to do. We have 8 contracts within the immediate family and we all are thinking of cancelling. Customer services lack & willingness to help or listen to my request has us all pretty much frustrated. My family members are not able to get a hold of me because my phone is dead in 2-3 hours (with no usage!) and there was an emergency in which I needed to use my phone and I was not able to. Not only was I not able to use my phone but I have no communication with my family during the emergency.
We have had Verizon since it even became "Verizon" and we have been loyal customers who have never missed a payment. It would be a shame to lose 8 customers over 1 phone.
Any suggestions from other customers that have had the original Droid RAZR? Outcomes from customer service related issues?

Really to bad about your phone being bad and it sounds as though it was bad from when you got it or very shortly there after you bought it.  So you have 8 lines with VZW all under contract which sounds expensive to get out of because of the Termination fees if they are less than about 1.5 years old.  It sounds as though you may have purchased this phone through a Preferred Authorized Retailer not a corporate store. Since you stated after you went back the second time the Rep no longer worked there and you talked with the manager of the store and then you left and went to the Verizon store (an official one) this would be a corporate store.  When you purchase from these Authorized retailers being Authorized or not VZW will usually tell you to take your issues up with where you bought the phone.  I learned this the hard way when I purchased a phone through one of these stores where I lived.  I then got a job in a distant city and had issues with the phone and went to a VZW corporate store and was told when they looked at my record that I would have to take it back to where I purchased the phone.  That being 2.5 hours from where I was working and I only went home on week ends.  When I got back there on Saturday they told me they would have to send it to manufacturer and would be 2 to 3 weeks before I would have my phone back.  I gave them the phone to get it fixed but I looked online and found my nearest corporate store 55 miles away and went there and purchased at full price a new phone just so I could go to any VZW corporate store or call tech support and get help and since then my experience with the refurbished  phones has not been bad.  I have only received one refurbished phone which did not work as advertised when I got it.  I called and they sent out another phone which worked.  The fact is I think that second phone I got was new(can't really say). 
Have you considered just buying a used phone from someone or looking online just to finish out your contract?  If you cancel all your VZW 8 lines and move to another carrier with all 8 lines will be very expensive.  I would just move them to other carrier as the contract expires and I would make sure each one was in a different month at least to cut the cost down each month.  I only have 4 lines and I know what that cost but I can't really do upgrade on my phone as I want to keep my unlimited data.  I would consider buying a phone through www.swappa.com or www.ebay.com and then letting all these contracts expire and then move them to another carrier if that is what you really want to do.  Good Luck with what ever you decide.  Some of these issues are very painful at times.

  • Think I lost all my non purchased music

    I recently updated my iPod touch on a new computer that didn't have my iTunes on it. I downloaded the iTunes on this new computer thinking that when I plugged in my iPod the music would transfer to the new iTunes. My iPod did a 1hr update then asked if I wanted to back up my music on icloud or on my computer. I clicked "icloud". Then ALL my music (which was never purchased) deleted off my iPod and never transferred to my new computer. Is there any way to recover all this music?

    The icloud backup does not include non-itunes purchased music. The backup to your computer does not include music at all.
    This should all be on your computer.  The ipod is not a storage/backup device.  It simply mirrors the selected content from your computer.  If the music is not on your computer, then it will not be on your ipod.
    You need to copy everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

    If your CC was banned for fraudulent activity, you will need to use another CC. If the account was disabled, try changing the password to enable it at : https://appleid.apple.com

    Hi, Sorry for how long this is going to be, but I need to explain.
    So I am struggling financially.
    I had to get a car and it has payments.
    So I need to downside my spending.
    99% of my time I am in a wifi setting. And I am able to text unlimited and use unlimited data as well.
    I'm more a texter than a talker. I can text on my computer or iPad. So my phone pretty much is useless unless I go out or need to talk on the phone.
    When I first joined Verizon I signed up for a data plan on my iPad. But now I have a hotspot, iPhone and my friend's phone included.
    I no longer need the hotspot having an iPhone or the data plan on my iPad. And Verizon has graciously helped me with that and takes the amount I would pay for both and deducts it from my bill each month.
    But, they are still on my plan. So if I cancel I would need to pay a cancelation fee for all devices I cancel.
    And that's fine if I do. My bill is probably near what a cancelation fee would cost. So if I have to pay that's fine. I will. It'll be rough but after 2 months it'll be worth doing.
    I was reading about an Assumption of Liability and if I could do that, that would be great. But I don't think I can since I have someone on my plan.
    I am going to go to another phone company. Ugh!! I have been with all the big phone companies. The 2nd best to Verizon is AT&T. TBH, you will not get better than the 2 companies. And remember, you get what you pay for. So it's sad to leave. I love Verizon! IDC what anyone says. In the past year Verizon has bent over backwards to help me with an issue I was having and they are the best. If someone gets bad service from them, report that person cause the company really cares about their customers. I am an example of that. And the coverage is great. I like AT&T too, but I would have trouble with them from time to time. But with Verizon never!! And doesn't matter where you go. Like there are some areas where service will cut out but I never had that problem with Verizon.
    But, after moving, in my area, the company I'm going to, is great service as well and it meets all I need for a lot lesser price.
    You do get what you pay for and downgrading is never good. But sadly I have to pick what's more important and in this case, is my car. So I have to go with what I can afford.
    Anyways, what I would like to do is...
    Hand over my account to my friend that's on my plan, make it their's and cancel all my devices.
    But since I do want to keep my number and usually when doing this, it cancels the plan you are on.
    IDK if I can do that since I'm not sure if it will cancel the entire plan or just the phone itself.
    As I said, if I have to pay the etf that's fine.
    Because that's the plan. Hand over to my friend the account and cancel my devices.
    So if someone could tell me if that's possible that would be great.
    Where I live now, Verizon isn't close by and finding out without having to talk would be great. LOL
    So any help anyone could give me, please reply back here.

    The ETF for each the iPad and hotspot on contract would be $175 each less $5 for each month of your contract(on each) you have competed. So if you had completed 1 year on each of the devices, the ETF on each device would be $115 or $230 total.
    I assume you have a smartphone and you want to keep it instead of moving to a basic phone. If you are willing to switch to a basic phone and have access to one, you could get on Verizon's More Everything plan for a basic phone only to the tune of $25/month + taxes. That would give you no data, 700 minutes of talk and unlimited texting.
    If you have a smartphone and would want to keep it, you are looking at $40 line access fee, unlimited talk/text and a minimum data plan of $20/month for a total of $60 + taxes on the More Everything plan.
    Verizon also has a single line plan which includes unlimited talk/text and 1 GB of data/month for $60/month + tax.
    Of course, to sign your other devices over to someone, they would have to agree to do so.

    Because of  getting the message that I had to uninstall Apple Mobile Support Device and ITunes, in order to get my ITunes to be usable, I did that.  While trying to re-install ITunes, all I get on the message is the choice to "save" or "cancel".  It will not give me the "run" choice.  What am I doing wrong?  This should be fairly simple to reinstall, I thought.
    I am running Windows XP on a desktop computer using Firefox.

    Ok, I had a glitch, forced to restart, and lost my train of thought.
    Reinstalling iTunes should fix the major issue that might have gone wrong, perhaps your explaination points will disappear and everything will be peachy again.
    But if they don't, you can open the XML file in iTunes Folder using a Text edit program to see what the common pathname is to the iTunes Music folder or where your content is located.
    If you moved the itunes folder, it needs to go back.
    I can't  download iTunes to my Vista virtual machine to test it out right now because iTunes is down, so I can't verify the pathname, perhaps your issue and the iTunes being down are related somehow?
    You don't want to import all your music again, but it's a option, but you lose all your playlists, that's what I'm trying to recover.
    If oyu don't have a whole lot of playlists, then simply select all the explaimation point music and delete, select File from the menu and import your itunes folder again.

    I think I have all the settings correct, but nothing is happening.  I post on calendar, it isn't on other devices.  Contacts didn't showmupmeither.

    My only problem right now is iCal.  Nothing is syncing but I discovered I did not sign up for Mobile Me.  Here is where my real problem comes in: I need a password to sign up for Mobile Me and everytime I put in a password, Apple won't accept it.  I have changed my password 6 or 7 times today.  When I get the new one, it will let me in to do that particular thing, but five minutes later, I try something else, and I get the error message.  I KNOW what I'm putting in is correct.
    10 minutes ago I changed my password.  I checked in here at the discussions....got right in with the new password. Went to Mobile Me...get error message that this is the wrong password.
    What do I do about this?  It's been going on all day.  I am trying to install iOS5 but I can't get in anything because of the password problem.  I don't have a clue what to do.  My warranty is off so I ca't call Apple for free and they charge a lot for phone help.  Do you have any idea what the problem is with the password  and what I can do to solve it?

    It's possible that the pages you are attempting to open simply won't work with that old web browser.
    If you're using Mac OS X Tiger, update to the latest version, which is 10.4.11. (You might be using that already. Your profile says you're running 10.4.1, but I bet that's just a typo.)
    Then get the latest version of Safari that will run on Tiger. (And... you have that already: 4.1.3.)
    You might try a more modern browser designed specifically for your current OS. That would be TenFourFox.

    How can I contact a representative of Verizon to help me cancel my contract so I can switch carriers to get a phone that is reliable and a Co. that supports its products?  Verizon seems to have many blocking scripts or dead ends when trying tio contact someone  who can help the customer. How can I get around the blocks and get to someone who can directly answer my questions? I have one of those "hot" phones that were recently seen on the news, yet no one seems to be able to help me resolve the issue. I have no idea where this comment goes, or who reads it?

    The phone is your responsibility, if it's before the 1 year warranty you can get defects fixed by the Manufacturer  of the phone. If you want to leave pay your termination fee, or find a carrier who claims they will do it but don't really expect it to happen either.

    To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
    Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

    In one of the help pages for managing your Apple ID (http://support.apple.com/kb/HE40), it shows two separate sections, one for Apple ID and one for Primary Email address. When I go to manage my Apple ID, I see only a single section for both. Can the two be 'separated', especially when you face the situation of having to discontinue your email address for some reason?
    I also noticed that when navigating to Apple ID Support Communities, it shows my nickname 'dishdy'. How and when did I insert this? In the current sequence for creating an Apple ID I don't see this. In my current profile I don't see this.
    In any case, I have freed myself from my previous Apple ID (@artemis.it) on my iPhone.

    2-3 days ago, iMessage just stopped working on all my devices (2 iPads; 1 iPhone; 1 Mac), and it hasn't come back since. iPhone waiting for activation, the rest just don't send the messages.
    FaceTime and iCloud work fine.
    I really hope this is resolved soon, because I rely heavily on iMessage for the majority of my communications, and I need it back ASAP as I'm on holiday and out of my home country.
