I'll defer to others who might know definitively, but it's my understanding that the 1366x768 LCDs are not Wacom digitizer-equipped, whereas the FHD panels are. That would be one possibility for what you're seeing.

  • Thinkpad Yoga and UP710E stylus, how do you make them work together?

So my work just got me a Thinkpad Yoga as per my request
I have confirmed that in the Device Manager I do see: "HID-compliant touch screen"
I have also gone out on my own and purchased the UP710E wacom stylus, as suggested at various points on this board and on other sites, as something that should work with the Yoga
I've also purchased Manga Studios as an art program that is supported on this device (it seems to run fine) and with the pen.
I turned on Manga Studios (and MSPaint for good measure), pressed pen to screen and... nothing.  Eraser to screen.. nothing.  Mouse?  Works fine.  Stylus that everything and everyone indicated should work?  Nope.
So.... what am I missing?  Is there a driver I should be looking at?  Everything should be up to date.. some in-between program I need to install?  Try this when the wind is blowing south by southwest?
    Help please?

  • Issues with Thinkpad yoga on Windows 7 64-bit

I uninstalled the windows 8.1 that came with my Thinkpad Yoga to installe windows 7 64-bit because there was no support for Power Manager ( a tool that allows you to charge your battery only upto a certain percentage (eg 40%) which helps reduce battery aging when the notebook is mostly operated on AC power).
Doing that required me to fully clean the Hard-disk during the installation process.
I installed almost all of the drivers available on  http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...
for thinkpad yoga and windows 7 64 bit.
Happily, this provided me the Power manager, and I can use it just as I wanted.
However, all these has brought in additional issues which are listed below:
    1. The touch pad right click doesn't work. Only two finger tap works as right click.
    2. The touch pad gestures for zoom and scroll doesn't work at all.
    3. The screen auto-rotate doesn't work.
    4. The touch screen gesture for zoom doesn't work.
I did install the ultra-nav and screen-rotate drivers, but I get error messages regarding synaptics ... not working and also sensor driver not working during the windows startup.
    Any help please?
    Thank you.

Just when I was happy that major issues have been resolved by constant updating, I am now experiencing this frightening problem. Mostly during startup, and lately in the middle of working, the screen freezes, shows very damaged image (like TV noise), produces the most unpleasant sound through the speakers and nothing works. I need to restart and hope that it will be ok. Sometimes it requires 2 or 3 restarts, going to safe-mode and returning back to get the issue resolved.
This has happened three or 4 times within 24 hrs. I searched in the forum and for another model it was suggested that epresscache might be the cause. I disabled the service, but the problem reappeared even then.
    Any help please:
This is what appears on the screen when the computer freezes and produces loud unpleasant noise sound.

  • ThinkPad Yoga won't connect to external display

I just received a ThinkPad Yoga and have not been able to get output to external display.
I am using mini hdmi to display port.
Lenovo tech support was completely useless.
Does anyone have experience with this issue?
    Thanks

First, try resetting the parameter RAM:
Hold down keys CMD-Option-p-r on startup until you hear the second chime.

  • Connecting Thinkpad Yoga to Dual VGA Monitors

I recently received my Thinkpad Yoga, and would like to connect it to dual external monitors (I will only be using those two monitors, not the laptop monitor) that both have VGA connectors. My original thought was to get the Thinkpad Onelink Pro Dock but as near as I can tell that only has the DVI connectors on the back. I suppose I could get that, then get a DVI -> VGA connector, but just wanted to check in here to see if anybody else had any better / less complicated / less expensive solutions to this.
    Many thanks,

  • Thinkpad Yoga microphone not working

I've just recently recieved my brand new Thinkpad Yoga, and everything seems to be ok except the microphone. Under Recording Devices of Windows 8.1, the meter is showing no activitiy even with the boost and volume turned right up. Apps like Skype etc are showing no audio being received either. I've uninstalled the audio drivers completely and reinstalled which has made no difference. The driver reports that everything is ok too. I ran through the windows audio troubleshooting tool which reports no issues as well though it is clearly not working. Any suggestions of have I received an expensive duff laptop?

Hi! I bought my Thinkpad yoga in December last year and I didn't recognise that my microphon isn't working (because I usually use an external headset) since I tried to call somebody at skype and it says "Problem with your recording device". I think it is the same problem as yours, because the microphone is recognised but I don't get any input.  Did you find an solution for this? I don't wanna sent my notebook in because I need it daily for work :/.

  • How to undock Thinkpad Yoga from Onelink Docking station?

I used the search but I couldn't find the answer to my problem, so here it is:
I've got a Thinkpad Yoga and a Onelink Docking station but I can't figure out how to safely hot undock.
I cannot find any option to undock and just ripping of the onelink cable doesn't feel to be quite safe ?!?
    Thanx for your help.

    Welcome to the forum!
Even if it were physically possible, you wouldn't be able to use both Ethernet ports at the same time, because the motherboard doesn't support more than one connection at the time.

  • Spare Stylus to Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga

    Hi Guys
I am using my new Thinkpad Yoga and I am happy so far.
Unfortunately I lost my pen/stylus a few days ago and of course, the tablet/ultrabook is useless or just a normal notebook without a stylus.
However, I failed to find a spare-stylus which fits in the case. Could you direct me to a webshop or something were I can buy one?
And, as it is related to this topic, do you know any other stylus which work with this tablet? The original one is fine but to work all day long with the normal stylus it is a bit to small / thin.
    Best regards

Other Wacom based tablet PC styluses should work but you might have to recalibrate the digitizer though.
You can check out the Wacom styluses that Fujitsu , Lenovo ,  and Samsung offer. Those all should work.

  • ThinkPad Yoga: Needs a better keyboard & quiet trackpad

While I love the protection of the keyboard on the ThinkPad Yoga, I really hope future versions include more key travel. The current keyboard is frustrating.
The trackpad is LOUD.  Really? VERY LOUD. Distracting to the passenger on the plane next to me. He asked if I had a broken key.
Fantastic machine, but the keyboard and trackpad need work.
    JIM

    Hi Jim,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Thanks for your feedback regarding ThinkPad Yoga and I appreciate the thoughts shared.
While I think Lenovo still has an amazing build quality and the machines are tank-like in durability, people make comparisons within the same series. Many people have favorite features or design elements on a particular model, and because they value that, the design directions for new models may be seen as better or worse. Hopefully, our engineers will take the suggestions to concern while designing upcoming machines.
Regarding the trackpad clicking noise, Check if the sound is mechanical from the device itself and not related to the speakers at all.  If it is mechanical, possibly something is loose under the touchpad.
I strongly recommend you to contact our technical support for assistance.

  • Thinkpad yoga 3rd party pen not working

So i bought a thinkpad yoga, and it came today - which I am really happy about. There's a problem though - I bought the computer thinking that I would get a pen with it and an active digitizer. I bought the computer over the phone, and i got a confirmation email saying that the base was a FHD 1080 screen. Since the only two options for the computer are either with partial HD and NO pen or with FHD and a pen, i assumed I was getting a pen or at least a digitizer with the computer.
After all, I paid for it in full.
The pen did not come with the computer, however i was told that if i bought a thinkpad pen separately, it would still work. I have a digitzer pen already, but it doesn't work on this computer.
I tried to download the firmware update for the digitizer, which didn't work. I got a notice saying
    Current version: ????
    New Version:
and then it said that a connection could not be established. I also tried to download the wacom feel driver, but it said that a compatible tablet was not detected.
Does anyone have any inkling what is going on here? somebody please help!!! I really don't want to have to return the laptop and have to purchase a new one.

When I bought my Yoga, on the Australian Lenovo website it explicitly states it as a Wacom digitizer:
    http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/yoga-series/
Pretty much every Lenovo machine that carried an active digitizer in the past has been Wacom (apart from a couple times I think they used N-Trig, a comptetitor to Wacom).
What lead_org means is B - the Full HD 1080p screen can be had with or without an active digitizer - if does have one, it is guaranteed to be a Wacom.
Techinically speaking, a touchscreen is a digitizer (passive rather than active, since it only works on contact with your finger or a capacitive pen as opposed to hover capabilities etc.). The active digitizer panel is a seperate component from the screen.
With lesser quality, there is the possibility that there are some differences between each Wacom digitizer panel - however, they won't have another manufacturer's active digitizer panel in the mix with the same product.
ATM, there are four different active digitizers that can be had - Wacom, N-Trig, Atmel and Synaptics.
The technology that drives each company's active digitizer is fundamentally different and won't work between different brands of digitizer. (e.g. a Wacom pen won't work with an N-Trig active digitizer panel, and vice-versa.) So you won't find a Yoga that has N-Trig or any other digitizer.
Wacom and N-Trig are the main players - Atmel and Synaptics just aren't on the same level as them yet.
Wacom - common on Lenovo, Fujitsu, Samsung (under the name S-Pen), Toshiba tablet pcs
N-Trig - common on Sony, ASUS Taichi tablet pcs
Atmel - so far on HP products only
Synaptics - Dell Venue 8 and 11 Pro
Sorry if I sound like I'm rambling on - I'll stop it here. You can always do some Google searches and read up about this a bit more. Below is a link that might help.

  • Thinkpad Yoga 13 keyboard and mousepad don't work

    Hello people!
Last time I went  to US, I've bought this machine from Amazon: Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga Signature Edition - 12.5" 2-in-1 Touchscreen Notebook PC - Intel i5 Haswell / 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD / WiFi / Webcam / Windows 8.1 - Black
I love it! At least until two weeks ago... after a windows/lenovo update things starts to be really hard.
My keyboard and mousepad simple don't work anymore, totally unresponsive. If I hit "del" to access the bios, the keyboard does work, after that, when windows is loading and fully loaded, I've got only the "tablet" mode.
The only thing that works correctly is the touchscreen, as it only recognize itself as a tablet, not as a ultrabook. The screen also rotates automatacly when windows is fully loaded, so I have to use the tent mode with an external usb keyboard/mouse or type in the screen keyboard...
I leave in Brazil, got in contact with lenovo suport team here, after a lot of procedures, that didn't solve the problem, they told me to get in contact with lenovo US and ask for an original dvd recovery.
Is there anyone with a different approach to solve this problem?

First try SMC and PRAM resets:

If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a free diagnosis.

  • Thinkpad Yoga - Clean install with Win 8.1 disc and embedded product key

    Hello everyone,
I purchased a Thinkpad Yoga that comes along with Win 8.1 and embedded product key.
Will it be possible to plug-in an external drive and install Win 8.1 from a Win 8.1-disc? BUT I don’t want to use the key that comes with the disc, but the key embedded in the bios.
This is my girlfriends Windows 8.1 disc and license. Nevertheless I could use it for the clean install.
But I'm not sure, if the original key from my Yoga will work then.
    Thanks
    Hutson

I guy on Youtube made a rough tutorial.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI8AnNBIlLQ
    Englisch subtitles available
In the comments he suggests, to download the Iso with anouther win-8.1-key - no matter which one - and to install the system clean. In his opinion the system will get the key from the hardware. He is writing, that there is just a universal iso. So it's no problem to download an iso with another key, even if your system is a Home-Edition and you download it with a Pro-Key.
    I will try this.

  • How can I stop the Thinkpad Yoga 14 from disabling the touchpad and keyboard?

My dad got a Thinkpad Yoga 14 about a month ago and he usually uses his laptop at a 90 degree angle in bed. So when he is on his side, the laptop is on it's side as well. When he does that with the Thinkpad Yoga, the touchpad and the keyboard are disabled and he cannot use the laptop like he wants to. I think because it's a setting to not accidentally touch the keyboard or mouse when using it in tablet mode.
I cannot find any setting on how to stop Windows from disabling the touchpad and keyboard on rotate. I've turned off auto-rotate but can't see anything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

iPhoto seems to be viewing the iPod as a camera.  Therefore go to iPhoto's General preference pane and select No application in the Connecting camera opens: menu.
