This one might be tough...

This issue is hard to explain. Simplest is to to show the link to open up the Numbers document and then explain. The spreadsheet can be accessed at
http://web.me.com/prajnamuktika/Site/Blog/Entries/2011/1/9Pricing_Invoice_SPreadsheet_-_NumbersDocument.html
So, when I select, for example, a 4x6 print ( in Sheet one, table one, the 2C cell) at the volume of two items (in cell 2D) then the print item is multiplied by number ordered and totaled in the next column (in cell 2E). Those figures work off of Sheet 3 in the Regular Price List table. So when I change a price for, say, a 5x7" print in Regular Price List table on sheet three, the calculations in Sheet one are adjusted. Works fine. However, with large prints (over 17x22") I have to have them printed out of house and have a separate lab cost that I don't want to include in my volume discount pricing calculations ( If someone orders only extra large prints I end up rewarding them with discounts and accruing too much lab costs and it doesn't work well ). Soooo... on Sheet 3 in the same Regular Price List Table I have added a third column that includes my lab costs for extra large prints. WHAT I WANT IS to have the lab costs of column three (sheet three, Regular Price List, 11C -13 C) placed in the Grand total box AFTER volume discount calculations (Sheet three, Grand Total, Lab Costs line: 8C ). I still want the regular or primary price to show up where it is. The corollary lab cost needs to go to the Lab Cost line in the grant total table.
What's more, as if that wasn't enough, is that I want, in instances where there are more than one such lab cost, the cell for lab cost in the grand total table to contain the sum of all the lab costs.

And even harder to read when dumped into a single blob of words. Step one is to separate it into paragraphing to make the question more readable.

One way to do tis would be to add a column to show the lab cost, if any, for each order item on the same line as the item, then add that column over the four 'order' tables into the appropriate cell on the Grant Total table.
Rather than mess up the formatting, though, I chose to add an auxiliary table ('Lab costs')to do the calculations, then transfer the total to that cell.
Formulas:
B2:   =SUMIF('First $100 Block' :: $C,A2,'First $100 Block' :: $D)+SUMIF('Second $100 Block' :: $C,A2,'Second $100 Block' :: $D)+SUMIF('Third $100 Block' :: $C,A2,'Third $100 Block' :: $D)
C2:   =B2*LOOKUP($A2,Regular Price List :: $A,Regular Price List :: $C)
D2:   =SUMIF('Prints for 50% (EXCEPT FOR LAB COSTS)' :: $D,A2,'Prints for 50% (EXCEPT FOR LAB COSTS)' :: $E)
E2:   =D2*LOOKUP($A2,Regular Price List :: $A,Regular Price List :: $C)
F2:   =C2+E2
All filled down to row 4.
F5:   =SUM(F)
In the Lab costs cell on Grand Total:   ='Lab costs ' :: F5

  • This one is a tough one

Hmmm I am not sure how to explain this one, but I will try.
I came up with a spreadsheet of my employees name on the left side and next to that I type in their work shift followed by a line chart that goes horizontal starting from 8, 8:30, 9, 9:30 and so forth each of the half hours in their own cell (for example employee A works 8-5PM is what I type under shift then I color in red on the bar from 8-5 showing a 1 hour lunch 4 hours into shift.
What I want to do is set it up automatically so that when I type in the hours of 8-5PM under the shift cell I want the bar next to it automatically fill in the appropriate hours. Is this possible? I am playing around with it and can't figure it out. Thanks for any help.

I've taken a guess at what you might be trying to do:
If it isn't exactly right, perhaps you can adapt these techniques to your situation. Some key elements:
    (1) Use conditional formatting to make the colors. Setting the text color and the fill color to the same can make the cell's values disappear, creating a color block.
    (2) Each cell in the time grid contains the following formula for cell D2, which was then filled over and down:
    =IF(AND($start+4/24<=D$1, D$1<=$start+5/25), "break", IF(AND($start<=D$1,D$1<=$end),"on","off"))
    (3) There may be an issue with the entering the start and end times, as entering times also enters the current date. If you find that this doesn't work tomorrow, this may be the cause. Some additional complexity in the time grid formulas will be necessary to overcome this.
You may also be able to get something like you are thinking with another technique already discussed on the forum. Try searching for "gantt".

Thanks for nothing, as usual, Apple.
I had to redo the whole project from scratch on Windows Movie Maker.
Now I know which brand to trust on my next purchase.

  • I have sent a file to the trash bin. When I come to empty the trash bin everything goes out except this one particular file and I get a note saying the file is 'in use' but it is not. How can I delete this file from trash?

I have a Macbook Pro with OS X Lion 10.7.2. I have sent a work file to the trash bin along with many other files. When I empty the trash this one particular file remains and I get a message that this file is still in use. I have tried returning the file to my documents, opening it, closing it and then sending it to trash and again I try to empty trash but the same message comes up - Q - How can I trash this file permanently?

First just try logging out and back in.  Whatever is holding on to it may not be running after the logout thus freeing it so you can trash it after logging back in.
You might also try Trash It!

  • Performance Issue - sitting this one out

    Hi,
as mentioned in a previous post, I am having serious difficulty with navigation in the grid view. There is no way I am getting any kind of satisfactory scroll movement, either with the mouse nor with the tablet. For a program which is expicitely intended to handle large number of pictures and navigating through them, this is not acceptable.
To make this clear: I love the new features in LR3, especially the noise reduction improvements and the lens corrections; also the fine tuning instruments for sharpening are worth mentioning. However, if I spend most of my time (and nerves) to get to the picture I want to manipulate instead of getting any of my actual work done, it is time to do something about it.
On the ohter hand, LR 2.7 was working just fine; no performance problem (asside from occasional hangups using the correction brush for too long, getting a lot of brush strokes where god himself would't want 'em).
After fiddeling with my graphics card settings, cache settings, even turning off my anti- virus software for testing, and trying what not, I decided to sit this one out: I'll rather use an inferior LR 2.7 that works than a superior LR 3 which doesn't work (talking about contradition in terms...).
So I'll keep on using third- party noise reduction and lens correction software and wait if the adobe engineers find the time to tackle the problem.
Just a finshing thought: distributing menory- hog- software usually is the domain of Microsoft, isn't it? I believe mass- market- compatible software should run (not walk...) on mass- market- hardware.
I hope enough people may comment this in the like of "me, too", so that the adobe guys might take notice.
    Thanks,
    Mike.

Same for me! Editing pictures with LR3 takes soooooo long on my computer (Win 7 64 bits, Intel Core i7 860 , ATI Radeon 48700, 4 Go RAM) that is it not possible to work. LR3 is using 60% of my RAM each time I zoom in the picture, chnage picture or do a local correction. It often crashes. Open in PS CS4 can be painful too.
Listening to Victoria Bampton's advice, I have deleted the lrpreview folder and rebuilt the standard preview. FOr a few days it worked bbetter, but after imprting a bunch of pictures, it is slow again.
Photo is my job and LR my every day tool. I hope the fix will come very soon, just can't wait!

    Hello,
I have installed mountain lion on my macbook pro ,but it made my mac very slow. Would someone please tell me how  to uninstall this one and reinstall snow leopard? I tried to do it by my original CDs but macbook  pro didn't let me to do it.
    Thanks

It would be easier to just fix whatever is making your machine slow.
I wrote a little diagnostic program to help show what might be causing these problems. Download EtreCheck from http://www.etresoft.com/download/EtreCheck.zip, run it, and paste the results here.
Disclaimer: Although EtreCheck is free, there are other links on my site that could give me some form of compensation, financial or otherwise.

Firefox also makes regular backups of your bookmarks in a folder named bookmarkbackups in your personal settings folder. You can restore the backup to your new Firefox, but unlike importing the HTML-format file, it is a complete drop-in replacement, so if you have saved new bookmarks you do not want to lose, the export/import method may work better for you.
By default, Windows hides your personal settings folder so the easiest way to access it is from inside Firefox. You can use either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This will launch a window showing your Firefox settings files.
You might want to back up this whole folder if you have other data you want to preserve from your XP computer.
Either way, you should find the bookmarkbackups folder here and when you click into it, find maybe 10 files with dates in their names.
The procedure to restore the file once you have it on removable media or some other convenient place is described in this article: [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]].
Regarding the other files and what you might find of use: [[Recovering important data from an old profile]].

  • Startup Screen Pixelated - I really need help on this one.

    15" Macbook Pro - Spring 2011
My startup screen sometimes would be pixelated with the Apple logo and then would go to grey screen and do nothing... then I would be forced to shut down and power it up again. On two occasions, the bootup would have stripes on it. See photo.
And then the occasional lockup while working on something would happen and I was forced to power it down. This would happen periodically and not every day.
So... I had this problem a couple of months ago (for several months) and the Apple store kept my Macbook Pro for a few days and said there were reported no problems. They were clueless as to why I had the above screen show. They said... maybe it is a bad installation of the OS and that it got corrupted.
So a couple of months later and I am now I am having the same issues again. But this time, I had bought another HD and installed Mountain Lion on it... and I have it connected via USB. I had used it several times before last night when I held the option key down to choose my startup disk to be the new HD via USB. Then I get this pixelated screen again, but this time it was at the startup disk screen. See Photo.
It's like you have a car problem and you take it in to the shop only for it to not malfunction... I really need some guidance on this one. My AppleCare warranty just expired (was valid during my visit to the Apple Store)... And I am not a happy camper... I always use macs... and I teach everyone who has them how to use them.
So to be clear... This is the same internal HD that I had when I took it to the Apple Store. (Lion)
I installed Mountain Lion on a new HD connected via USB and have worked off of it for a few days with no problems, choosing it as a startup disk.
Last night booting with the option key held down I get this pixelated screen, whereas before it was never pixelated holding the option key down.
So I have a couple of questions:
Is the Boot Screen above run by the motherboard or the HD? If it is the MB, then I need to talk with Apple again.
Does anyone have any clue what is happening?I have reset my PRAM and switched out my RAM.
If this screen is run by the same HD in the laptop, then maybe I just need to take it out....?
I would appreciate any genius expertise. I am a little frustrated that I am having this problem and cannot narrow it down. I use my laptop extensively for presentation, graphics, and teaching and now I am afraid of it.

Your 10.7 EFI may be corrupted.
The way a Mac works is EFI is updated via Software Update, it's written to the OS X partiiton, then gets loaded into the hidden EFI partition and read/used upon the second boot.
So it takes two reboots to load EFI and goes into the EPROM boot memory.
My terminolgy might be inaccurate as I didn't take a Apple course for certification, but I understand a little about the boot stage from my Linux on Mac experience.
If your 10.7 EFI is corrupted on one drive, and you've got a 10.8 clean EFI on another, then it takes two reboots from the same drive to clear and use it's EFI into boot memory.
So if you've booted 10.7, then option booted to use 10.8, it could be the corrupted 10.7 EFI still in memory.
The way to fix the corrupted 10.7 EFI partition is a total wipe and format of the entire drive to catch the hidden EFI parition, then install 10.7 fresh and update.
Of course Apple made this difficult with Recovery Partition which won't allow a complete drive erase.
    However you can do this
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/08/lion-recovery-disk-assistant-tool-makes-external- lion-boot-recovery-drives/
There is also a way to install EFI firmware from a cd, however I don't know where it goes, reboot the 10.7 drive twice anyway
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL77
Since your out of warrantly, you might want ot just go ahead and repalce the internal drive and see if that fixes the problem.

  • Why can't I change to size of my test in emails now? CanI go back to previous email version. This one is horrible!!!

Why can't I change to size of my test in emails now? CanI go back to previous email version. This one is horrible. On my last update I was able to easilt find old emails now they disappear!!!! WTF?
This version cannot change the text size Do I have to go back to IE?

Which email site do you use?
    And some general advice:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Imovie media browser only has one option, "Mobile". other videos had option for medium and small. mobile option wont import into iDVD. other videos gave me the Medium option, why not this one?

help! imovie media browser only has one option, "Mobile". other videos had option for medium and small. mobile option wont import into iDVD. other videos gave me the Medium option, why not this one? need answers ASAP!

    That is your answer then.
    Large is 960x540
    Medium is 640x480 (or 720x480)
    Mobile is probably 480x272.
It is offering you the sizes that make sense given the size of your source material.
As a trick, you might try this. In your project, put a short 640x480 clip in the project as the first clip of the project. Then keep the rest of the project as is. See if it will let you share now in Medium. It will not look as good, because there are not enough pixels to cover the Medium size, but it might work.

  • How can I make a image like this one? (image in description)

Hi guys I need to know how can I make a image like this one http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/2710/69823211.gif
I need step by step instructions please. How can I animate it like that? Whats the font? Tell me everything please.

To do a step by step instruction on here will take someone a very long time, as you havent really said at what level you are at.
On Youtube there are a lot of animation tutorials for PS. But essentially in this case you are moving that white streak across a few frames at a time.
The font might be found with the help of http://http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/

  • This file might have been Moved or deleted

    HI All,
    I am running following site
    http://a816-dohbesp.nyc.gov/IndicatorPublic/VisualizationData.aspx?id=2048,4466a0,11,Map,Rate,2012
It is giving me sometime error while creating PDF in IE11"This file might have been Moved or deleted ". Working fine
in Chrome. Please let me know what I should do. I used Itextsharp and phantom.js to create pdf.
    Regards,
    Vishal Bedre

The problem occurs on any website that has PDF's available to open. I do not have a particular website to give. I am using Windows 7 64bit, IE11, Adobe Acrobat 11.
Here are some additional steps taken to troubleshoot:
    1. I discovered that Symantec Endpoint Protection was blocking PDF downloads from IE11. Once a PDF exception was made, I could start downloading PDF's and have them open in Adobe windows. However, the problem still continues but more randomly.
    2. After disabling all firewalls and antivirus protection on the computer, the box still pops up about one out of every six attempts.
    3. I uninstalled IE11 and installed IE9 and tested. Issue was no longer present. So it appears to be a bug with IE11.

  • I can't figure this one out...

I've imported a .swf file into one of my table cells. The
cell is 700x200. The .swf file is 700x200.
    http://www.associatespd.com/CHSA_Web
I've recut and resaved my .psd file TWICE. I can't figure
    this one out.
It seems that the flash file is stretching or something, its
off one pixel on the right. When i set my flash file at 699 width,
it was one pixel off on the right.
Can any offer any suggestions. I'm completely out of ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

it looks like the graphic's width might have been transformed
    at 101% in Flash.
If the actual image file has the right width, I don't see any
    other possible explanation.
You should double check in Flash authoring, select your
graphic (or your MC or whatever object you
might have converted it to) and open the transform and/or
info panel. One of these panels will show
you the % width and height ratio of your object...

Do you have the latest version of iTunes? Did you check for anti-virus software? One of the sections talks about interference from anti-virus software and firewalls. Also, you should not have to make any changes to your Host file unless your computer has been used to jailbreak a phone. I worry because you were using a number of software applications that are designed for jailbreaking devices. Excerpt from this support document.
