This User Forum Poorly Designed

This forum is difficult to use because the registration process is a failure. How do I file a complaint regarding the poor quality of this forum. When I tried to register the registration refused my email address. Sorry that is my only email address. It is dum to refuse my address. This forum is worthless if I can not register with my real email address.

This forum Poorly designed for a laptop screen

Nothing fits in the screen you must scroll forever. Its bad enough on a 23 inch monitor but just unacceptable on a laptop.

while I admit my website is not up to pro standards (people here have laughed at it here, but it does what I want), I try as much as possible to avoid to use any height or width settings so that the site look approximately the same whether your on a 12" wide Laptop, or you have a 24" by 24" Computer Monitor. I don't use any fixed point sizes The only thing I worry about is picture sizes.
And I try to center everything so there is equal amount space on both sides I hate worth a Pasion sites that everything justfifed left with half a screen of backround space.
But being left justified seems to be the normal setup with web design applications and, people just rather not be bothered. so you end up witha third of screen of content then two thirds white space. Then you have to scroll a mile down. when if the center everthing and left everything float. most page you could get everything on just one screen with no scrolling up or down or side to side unless you have a lot of content. Now as to PDF pages, that different they are set according to page setup used to create the PDF.

TS3899 When sending email from the Mail App or through other Apps, my default From: address will change when I enter a To: address. This sometimes leads me to send the email from the wrong outgoing email account. It is frustrating and poor design.

3rd party email addresses have to be deleted on every synmced mac product, although I have 1and1.co.uk and my imac updatetes the mails in that account from mac mail.
Yahoo etc is a 2 step deleting process but good to get your emails pushed when on the go.

Email app poorly designed

I'm seriously disappointed with the email app usability. It's seriously limited, which really is surprizing given Apple's usual attention to UI details. My biggest beef so far is the lack of intuitive design, especially with adding attachments. Seriously, it's not intuitive at all!!! Secondly, the lack of integration between the my contacts and any third party; yes, I know there are apps for this, but for all Apple's hype their solution is weak. Come on Apple is this the best you can do??!!!

CISCO 2125 very poor design or i'm missing something?

CISCO 2125 bad design by Cisco, product development should revise.
I noticed Cisco product sales support staff is pushing 2125 WLAN controller as great WLAN solution. They got me into considering one as something what will work just fine.
I strongly disagree, this product is extremely poor design and it is missing gigabit port for LAN connection.
This product will support 25 APs with its eight 10/100 Mbps ports. Only 6 APs can be linked per port. So for 25 APs you are already using 5 ports. Per manual POE ports 7 & 8 should not be used for anything other than single AP so that leaves you with only 1 port #6 to connect to your LAN.
Yes, that is true, 100Mbps for all the WLAN users on the 25 access points and product is advertised to support high speed N wi-fi capable of doing 300Mbps per user node. What a nonsense? makes no sense even for lightweight use.
Makes you wonder who approved such product for production and what a bad design on the $6K piece of equipment
CISCO please put a Gigabit port on the 2100 series or stop marketing and pushing such poorly designed product

I don't know who you discussed your design with but you were not educated on the use of the product very well. The 2125 is meant to support more than 12 APs in a very light client deployment of 20 or fewer users. If you need more horsepower then you need the 4402-25. This is a reseller issue and not a Cisco design issue. I have deployed over 300 2100 series controllers and the only problem I have is with customer education. See the attached guidelines.

Why do SW manufacturers operate user forums

User forums are becoming a common tool for SW manufacturers, including Oracle, to support their customer base.
The research I am conducting tries to analyze the value of user forums to SW manufacturers. I was hoping that the Oracle community and staff can provide me with their insights.
Do user forums help Oracle reduce the burden off of other support tools such as Oracle call center/help desk?
How can Oracle sustain a good "quality of service" in the forum, in terms of time to response and effectiveness of the response?
What do you think?

Think about this... if you were a software company and you wanted to make your product more widely known about to get more sales, then having a forum where people discuss things and offer, effectively 24/7, free support is a good way to go and also shows how widely the product is used. This might be the case for large SW companies such as Oracle, but would that apply across the board??
1)     What about a company just initiating its user forum, or one that is smaller scale, can it afford having the forum out AS IS?

The other advantage to a forum is that the software company itself can see where people find failings in the product or would like to see enhancements, thus allowing them to improve on their product.

Yes, there are some members who are closely involved with Oracle, but 99.99% of users here are Joe Public.
The effectiveness of a response... well, we now have a "points" system since last year which allows someone asking a question to award "correct" and "helpful" to answers to their question, which in turn awards points to those who answered. This, supposedly, gives people an idea of how trustworthy/accurate/experienced/knowledgeable (take your pick) the responder is on the forums, but it is not a flawless system as it can be abused by a) those people giving cr*p answers and asking for points (and getting them before the questioner realises the answer was cr*p), b) people giving answers and the questioner marking them as correct or helpful when they're not, due to the questioner not actually knowing any better or c) people giving perfectly valid and correct answers but the questioner not marking them as correct or helpful (because they're too lazy?).
The quality of service is only as good as those users who take part and, fortunately, there are some very experienced and very knowledgeable people around who can give good answers and correct those that are wrong. Unfortunately, there are also some who give very poor or incorrect answers and still insist they are right. Oracle itself does nothing to remove such answers, it's just down to the other users to "prove" them wrong.
As for response time, that depends on the availability of Joe Public. Regardless of whether a person marks their question as "urgent" or not, the questions will be answered when people have time to look at them, as we all have our own jobs to do. In the view of regular posters on here, no one persons question is any more "urgent" than anybody elses.
The place where Oracle maintains full control, quality and time of response is on their (paid for) support site, metalink.

How to restrict the attribute values for the user in query designer

Hi All,
I have a requirment where certain user would see certain vailes in the query desiner of the attribute.
The requirment is we have planing material which is attribute of material
When X user want to restrict the values for planning material ,where he is able to see all the planning material.But who is not authorized for all the value.
Ex: X user has authorization for see planning material 100,101,102. of material But when he try to restrict the planning material in query designer where is getting all values of planing material.
Or
is there way to blank the restriction help.so that he can't able to see values while restricting

Let me sum up:
you have an object ZPLNMAT for the planning material
you have the object 0MATERIAL for material and this object has ZPLNMAT as attribute.
If you can restrict in the query designer, I suppose this attribute is then as navigationnal and also added in the multi-provider.
The object ZPLNMAT is checked as relevant for authorization, and you set up a role with the attached values of ZPLNMAT this user should have access to.
Are you sure the users are restricting on the ZPLNMAT object and not 0MATERIAL, because you should have everything now

I can not find firefox after it downloads. I keep getting a box that says I can't run it under this user, when I put in my user name and password it disappears

The download appears to work ,it extracts the files then a box comes up saying I can't run it as this user( with the name of my login),. gives me the option to check my login name or check administer with a password. I have tried both, I am the only administer on the computer. Using windows vista. I have searched and some of the things like turorials etc are on my computer but I can't get the actual browser to open and there is no shortcut for firefox. Currently I am using IE since chrome kept freezing up, so does IE.

I waste a lot of time entering information because you can't go to a specific day and enter information, nor can you navigate between months and add information on a specific date by clicking on the date. You can't easily scroll month-to-month and once you do by scrolling through nine months to get to where you want to be, you cannot enter information by clicking on a specific day in the month and entering information. I just called Apple and they verified that this is the way it works. You cannot go to a date and enter information, you keep getting thrown back to today and then you have to go into the calendar and change it manually on the screen. It is just not efficient.

How to deal with poorly designed code

Hello, everyone.
I have a problem with some program that I wrote starting my career as a programmer.
At first I studied a lot and wrote this program in java with poor design solutions in mind.
My code looked like procedural(I studied c before) object oriented freak.
And as a result even I could hardly modify my code. I had to spend hours
remembering what each function in class did.
And some time after that my boss asked me to write one new feature which actually changes
architecture a lot. Even if it was good object oriented code, it would take some time. But now
it takes a great amount of struggle and patience to rewrite my ugly code and implement this
new feature.
So I'm asking you developers out there: How do you deal with such situations when for example
someone wrote very bad piece of code and you have to change/modify it to support new requirements?

Yarrrr, because what's more fun than pouring effort into something to end up with the exact same functionality that you started with?
Finding new and better ways to do things is fun and you definitely improve your coding skills when you go back and pick apart the hack-n-slash stuff you've written before, but overall I don't think it's fun (unless you're truly doing it only for yourself, i.e. no obligations, no deadlines, etc).

EXP-00105: parameter CONSISTENT is not supported for this user

I have use Oracle 10g on unix platform
i have export is taken from following command
exp \'/ as sysdba\' file=t.dmp full=y buffer=10485760 log=0101.log CONSISTENT=y statistics=none
export is sucessfull but one warning
EXP-00105: parameter CONSISTENT is not supported for this user
if i have use without CONSISTENT parameter then export is successfull ,
why EXP-00105 error occured ?

As per Oracle Error Notes:
EXP-00105: parameter string is not supported for this user
Cause: The user attempted to specify either CONSISTENT or OBJECT_CONSISTENT when connected as sysdba.
Action: If a consistent export is needed, then connect as another user.
Looks likE the SYS user cannot do a transaction level consistent read (read-only transaction). You could have performed this by SYSTEM user or any DBA priviliged user to to take the complete export of your DB.
Anyway, for more information the error "EXP-00105", please take a look into the same question on another Oracle related forums.
