CISCO 2125 very poor design or i'm missing something?

CISCO 2125 bad design by Cisco, product development should revise.
I noticed Cisco product sales support staff is pushing 2125 WLAN controller as great WLAN solution. They got me into considering one as something what will work just fine.
I strongly disagree, this product is extremely poor design and it is missing gigabit port for LAN connection.
This product will support 25 APs with its eight 10/100 Mbps ports. Only 6 APs can be linked per port. So for 25 APs you are already using 5 ports. Per manual POE ports 7 & 8 should not be used for anything other than single AP so that leaves you with only 1 port #6 to connect to your LAN.
Yes, that is true, 100Mbps for all the WLAN users on the 25 access points and product is advertised to support high speed N wi-fi capable of doing 300Mbps per user node. What a nonsense? makes no sense even for lightweight use.
Makes you wonder who approved such product for production and what a bad design on the $6K piece of equipment
CISCO please put a Gigabit port on the 2100 series or stop marketing and pushing such poorly designed product

I don't know who you discussed your design with but you were not educated on the use of the product very well. The 2125 is meant to support more than 12 APs in a very light client deployment of 20 or fewer users. If you need more horsepower then you need the 4402-25. This is a reseller issue and not a Cisco design issue. I have deployed over 300 2100 series controllers and the only problem I have is with customer education. See the attached guidelines.

  • 2011 Time capsule poor performance or am i missing something?

Hope someone can help me on this as I am beginning to beileve all those nay-sayers that rubbish the apple products..
I have just bought the new 2011 2TB Time capsule, was so excited to see its performance, and then so disapointed to see that there is no improvement on my existing free router that was provided by my ISP 2 years ago!!!
Mt TC is directly connected to my original modem (which also acts as a wireless router..but the tech team at my ISP advised that this would be ok), and after wondering around my house with my i-phone 4, checking networks sppeds and range....it appears that my old network reaches farther in almost all places in my house, and the speeds are not notably different.   In some cases I even lost the network completely on my TC, whilst my old wireless router reception still appeared on my i-phone.
I am hoping there is a logical solution that will improve my TC performance...otherwise I will have to join those naysayers.   ...So far, very dissapointed but didnt want to post my comments on to the apple product web site until I checked i am not missing something obvious.
Note that when setting the TC up, I followed all the instructions, and selected create New network (rather than the bridge option).
Would welcome all advise and help

so if the tc is connected via a LAN connection directly from one of the ethernet ports of the original router...I still have to put it in bridge mode?
Yes, if you want to follow networking rules. As I mentioned, you only want one device handling DHCP (IP addresses) and NAT functions on a network. your modem/router provided by the ISP is doing that now. Any other routers need to be configured in Bridge Mode to allow the "main" router to control the addressing on the network correctly.
...if so, i could change to bridge mode to see if range increases (they are currently in the same room)
You can give it a try. That won't do anything about possible wireless interference issues, but it won't hurt to try.
Be sure power down the entire network after you configure the TC in Bridge Mode. Then start the modem/router first and let it run by itself a few minutes. Then start the TC the same way. Continue starting devices one at a time about a minute apart until everything is powered back up on the network.
i will also contact my isp tech time and ask how i turn the wireless function off the original modem.
The settings on most devices can be changed by entering in an IP address into your browser. For example, for an XYZ device, the default IP addess might be something like 192.168.1.254, for example. That will bring up a log in page with various pages or tabs for connection, wireless setup, etc. It should be a simple matter to turn off the wireless function on the modem/router that you have.
If you don't know the default IP address, you can probably find this by doing a Google search using the make and model number of your modem/router. So, the search box might look something like this:
Default IP address for XYZ model number 1234

  • Rosetta = Very Poor Designed Emulator ?? !!

Today I installed Parallels Workstation and put Windows XP SP2 on it.
Then i tested Microsoft Office 2003, Dreamwaever 8 and Photoshop CS2 on it.
I'm sure they are at least TWICE as fast as running under rosetta...
For example, it takes about 12 seconds to launch Word under rosetta, and only 3 under Parellels WinXP... please also keep in mind that i'v only allocated 512mb ram for Parallels
boo... looks like Rosetta is built by the Aperture 1.0 team... lol

10 times faster? Uhhhh... I don't think so!
Yes Boot camp CAN be faster than parallels but I can
tell you it certainly isn't a whole lot faster.
Parallels is actually a pretty quick little set up.
Rosetta is a whole diggerent animal, its an on the
fly translator and meant for backwards
    compatibility.
    well... let's have a look (P-Parallels , B-BootCamp)
CPU: P-2000Mhz Single Core (CPU-Z) Celeron B- Core Duo 2.16G
Memory: P-Maximum recommand is 14XXmb B-2048 Dual Channel
HardDisc: P-Write to a HD File B-Direct R/W to the SATA hard drive
Graphic: P-SVGA(No DirectX No Acceleration); B-Decent latest ATI GPU
BootCamp let you run Half-Life 2 max out smoothly
Parallel can not even play a 300Kbps+ video file smoothly...
so i guess the differences are still significant...
however, back to the daily work flow (word/adobe/browser), the differences arnt significant.

  • PrE8 very slow?  Am I missing something?

    Hi everyone,
I just recently upgraded from Premiere Elements 4 to 8 on a newly built computer.  I have been fairly disappointed so far with PrE8 and wondering if I am missing something / optimizations that would make it work (and work efficiently) on my computer.
My computer: i7 930 oc'd to 4ghz (stable, stressed with prime95, used for a month), 12GB ram, GTX460x2 SLI with latest Nvidia drivers, 250 GB SSD boot/program drive / used for scratch disk, and a 2 TB Raid10.
PrE8 was upgraded to 8.01 already.  It starts up just fine.  The problem comes when I am trying to encode a simple project to burn to dvd.  I am just putting together numerous video clips to burn into a single double layer dvd.  File size about 7 GB.  Firstly, the encoding seems awfully slow.  PrE is the only program running and it is taking (4+) hours.  Looking at the task manager, PrE8 doesn't even seem to stress my system when encoding.  It is using only 2 cores with max 25% cpu utilization.  I have the affinity set to all cores and increased priority for the process to high with no difference.  This is no better than when I was using PrE4 to encode on my Duo-Core 2.8ghz, 4gb laptop.  I was hoping to save some time with encoding by building the new system but so far very disappointed.  Is it because PrE8 is poorly threaded or am I missing something.
    Ben

    Hi everyone,
Thank you for your answers and suggestions.  I'll clarify / rephrase my question.  The program itself works.  Every device driver has been updated previously.  My issue is that PrE8.01 does not seem to use all / most of my system's resources when encoding / exporting a video.  I understand that having other programs / antivirus running, fragmented hard-drive (ssd scratch disk and fresh 2 TB Raid 10 drive), different codecs, size, etc. can bog a system down and use up resources but when it only uses 2 physical cpu cores (+2 virtual cores) of a quad core system and only at 25% utilization max of those two physical cores with everything running and I wait 4+ hours to encode a 7 GB collection of 720x480 avi's, I cannot help but wonder how much faster and time saving it would be if it used all 4 physical cores at 100% ulitization.
My question is am I missing something in that it only uses a fraction of my system's resources instead of all that is available?  When you are working on your projects, is PrE8.01 using all your system's resources (100% utilization)?  I can understand PrE8.01 being slow if my system is old, bottlenecked, and struggling along at 100% resource utilization but that isn't the case.  Maybe PrE8 doesn't use more than 2 cpu cores?  But one would think it would at least stress those two cores a bit more than just 25%.
    Sincerely,
    Ben

  • Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative to iCal that will interface with the Cloud? I find iCal to be poorly designed and not very efficient.

Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternative to iCal that will interface with the Cloud so it works on the iPhone and the Macbook? I find iCal to be poorly designed and not very efficient. I waste a lot of time entering information because you can't go to a specific day and enter information, nor can you navigate between months and add information on a specific date by clicking on the date. You can't easily scroll month-to-month and once you do by scrolling through nine months to get to where you want to be, you cannot enter information by clicking on a specific day in the month and entering information. I just called Apple and they verified that this is the way it works. You cannot go to a date and enter information, you keep getting thrown back to today and then you have to go into the calendar and change it manually on the screen. It is just not efficient.

  • How to deal with poorly designed code

    Hello, everyone.
I have a problem with some program that I wrote starting my career as a programmer.
At first I studied a lot and wrote this program in java with poor design solutions in mind.
My code looked like procedural(I studied c before) object oriented freak.
And as a result even I could hardly modify my code. I had to spend hours
remembering what each function in class did.
And some time after that my boss asked me to write one new feature which actually changes
architecture a lot. Even if it was good object oriented code, it would take some time. But now
it takes a great amount of struggle and patience to rewrite my ugly code and implement this
    new feature.
So I'm asking you developers out there: How do you deal with such situations when for example
someone wrote very bad piece of code and you have to change/modify it to support new requirements?

    Dusty
Yarrrr, because what's more fun than pouring effort into something to end up with the exact same functionality that you started with?
Finding new and better ways to do things is fun and you definitely improve your coding skills when you go back and pick apart the hack-n-slash stuff you've written before, but overall I don't think it's fun (unless you're truly doing it only for yourself, i.e. no obligations, no deadlines, etc).

  • Very poor network performance with a G4

I have a white & grey G4 (1.25GHz and 256MB) running OS X 10.4.5. It's exhibiting very poor network performance, e.g. it will not FTP files over a LAN at more than about 40KB/second.
Other nodes on the same switch perform fine, as do other ports on the switch. The machine is set to autodetect for speed & duplex, so my question is -- how do I debug this? I've tried swapping network cables already...
    Thanks!
    Chris

This came down to an incompatibility between the G4 and the Cisco. When the switch is set to force 100Mbit but negotiate duplex, the G4 doesn't like it. Going back to auto speed & duplex fixed the problem...

  • CD Got Stuck and Got Very Poor Support for this issue

I Have a mac mini Intel Duo core. This is the second time My cd is getting Stuck.
First Time It was my mac OSX Recovery Disk. I inserted My disk and restarted the system before i got the cd loaded. The Cd Got Stuck. None of the standerd recovery procedures worked. I called up support and took the system to apple care solution They took a day to take it out.
This Time I Inserted an audio cd during Screen saver mode (Forrest Screen Saver) and when resumed to work I found out the CD was not recognised. I have Installed the eject shortcut on the top right menu bar. When i clicked eject after a long wait Nothing happend. The Drive was listed in Utilities> Disk Utility But I was not able to Eject. When I restarted by clicking the mouse button also nothing worked. Once I have restarted I have No drives Listed.
By Callon Customer Support I tried all trouble shooting steps again. Now I will Have to take my mac mini back to service it mak take a day to fix it.
I think cd gets stuck then we insert the cd in screen saver mode or insert it and restart before cd is recognised. Can Some one try out these scenaios and tell me whether my diag is right?
reg Apple support It is very poor (Compared to this dell has very good support. The are having their tech ppl coming home with all possible replasement components that might have gorn wrong trouble shoot fix the issue do replacements and leave the place compared to this apple care is just very poor ). One has to carry his mini to authorised service every time this occurs and wait untill the support ppl ejects it for me (This gives me no Option other than handing over my pc and wait without one for a day). The slot drive does not have a manual eject hole accessable to end user (Thats a cool design flaw).
In short Apple Service is very poor all arround the world
Mac Mini (Intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Siva,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You just happened to have gotten some bad support by fluke. On the whole Apple's support is rated better than Dell worldwide:
    http://forums.maccentral.com/wwwthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=general&Number=6 18987
There are a couple articles which I recommend reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106752
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58641
The latter article may not explain directly why your last couple of disks failed to eject, but if you used a non-standard disk, or one that had an adhesive label on it which suddenly got into the drive, it might have affected the ability of the drive to eject properly.
Yes occasionally you do get bad support, and occasionally a repair is flawed, but that's why when you call AppleCare and you have a problem with a repair, I recommend you speak to customer relations. They'll set you right.

  • Iphone 5s not picking up home Wi-Fi and/or very poor signals even in downtown area

Switched to Verizon and bought IPhone 5s less than 3 weeks ago. It was fine the first week then suddenly it won't recognized my home wi-fi and got very poor wireless signal. I have my old IPhone 4s and it works fine like a charm for wi-fi. It keeps reloading and not pop up any wi-fi signals. I went to the mall and normally it should pop up multiple wi-fis but it didn't. However my ipad did. I keep trying to reboot it or even reset it to factory settings and still doesn't work. Then yesterday my calls keep dropping in the middle of business conversation. This is unacceptable and no one seems to be helpful at Verizon. I even took screen pictures throughout the day yesterday to show when suddenly my home wi-fi popped up and a minute later it disappear. This also a domino effect for my photo stream, icloud back up, and most importantly my data plan. Now I can't even use my paid home wi-fi and use up all my data plan with Verizon and none of them care. I almost feel like switching to other providers. I also see that this is somewhat common to IPhone 5s with their troubled software or signal chip but not getting help from Verizon is the worst.

I downloaded the Speedtest app on my iPhone and iPad and would randomly test one right after the other. I accumulated about 5 tests a day on each device over the course of 3 days. I set up an appointment at the Genius bar. I told the Genius that I set up my phone as new and then showed him my comparisons of the Speedtest on both devices. He handed me a new (non-refurbished because it hasn't been out for long) phone, no questions. Apparently it was a hardware issue and not an iOS 8 bug.

  • NB205 - very poor product and service, do not buy Toshiba!! Completely dead in 6 months

I am posting this to warn as many people as possible to avoid buying Toshiba in the future.  Not only was the product faulty, which I can understand sometimes happens w mass production.  But the service was completely unacceptable, which was the deciding factor for me.
    1.  My new Netbook NB-205/BL started intermittently shutting down for no reason (complete black screen, not even to blue screen).  By the time I returned home from my trip it had stopped working altogether.  The power light will come on, and the fan/hard disk will try to spin for a split second and then go silent and stop completely.
    2.  Upon calling tech support who walked me through a bunch of diagnostic attempts (removing and re-inserting battery, etc.), they concluded it was dead and I needed to send it in.
    3.  The only thing I really care about is my data as I had stored a bunch of invaluable photos and downloaded about $200 worth of Amazon MP3s since receiving the Toshiba NB205.
    4.  Tech support assured me they would back up the hard drive for me and ship either a fixed or new computer with all my data still intact.  They asked me to register it w their warranty department and call them back so they could send me a shipping box to send it back in.  I did all that and it's been >3 weeks and no box.
    5.  So today I called Tech Support again and the guy goes "Oh yes, you have shipped your computer in for a hard drive failure?".  At which point I had to explain how A) it's not a hard drive failure B) I haven't shipped anything anywhere because I never got the box I was promised.
    6.  Then I proceed to ask him again if my data would be safe, to which he informs me it's Toshiba policy/practice not to back up data for customers.  I found this to be unacceptable and then I didn't know who to trust so I asked for a supervisor.
    7.  This supervisor wasn't able to help me either as he further informed me that they will not back anything up for me AND that I had to pay for shipping AND pay an authorized Toshiba Repair Center to back my hard drive up.
    8.  I suggested what everyone who I've talked to has said:  Toshiba could send me a new computer since they've diagnosed the old one as being dead.  I could swap out the hard drives, or they could send me one without a hard drive.  And I could send them back the dead NB205.
    9.  NO was the answer.  Toshiba wouldn't do anything for me, because software issues are NOT under warranty.  And backing up my hard drive is considered to be a software issue.  I repeatedly told him that it's their defective hardware that is causing the need for data backup.  But this went ignored and I was told they don't cover anything in this case.
I either had to lose my data or pay probably $100 for a Toshiba dealer to back up my data for me.  Oh yeah, and there isn't one of those within 20 miles of me and I live in Silicon Valley!!  Oh yes, and they want me to pay to ship them the dead computer.
    10.  I finally asked him how he would feel if he was the customer, and if he felt this was any way to treat Toshiba customers.  He replied by saying they have a process, and this is the process!
Well the next time I and any of you are in our "process" of deciding which brand of technology to buy, I'm certainly not going to consider Toshiba anymore.  This is the second chance I'm giving Toshiba after having a very poor laptop AND service experience in 2000.  Well, it took me 9 years to give them another shot, and I'm never going to trust them again.  I told myself "well, it's a high quality Japanese brand, one that commands a premium in price that people are willing to pay so it should be an excellent product.  AND if things do go pooryly, Toshiba will stand behind their name."
I was SO wrong!!!  Let this be a message to all people out there, as I did read these forums before buying my product, but the NB205 was so new it didn't have many posts.
Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me!  I'm done with you Toshiba, it's really too bad that you will not honor your brand with fair treatment of your customers.
    Ming Wu

It isn't that difficult to back up the data from the hard drive.  You can easily do it yourself for about $20.  http://www.datarecoverytutorial.com/recover-data-from-failed-laptop-notebook/
As for Toshiba backing up your data, ALL of the manufacturer's have that same policy.  NONE of them will backup the data for you nor will they guarantee that your system will be returned with the existing data intact.  This is spelled out in the Warranty documents and is fairly common knowledge amongst most computer users.
If the data was that important you should have been backing it up to USB flash drives, a usb external hard drive, or some other backup device on a daily basis just for this very reason.  The fact that you failed to do so doesn't make it Toshiba's problem.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Apex report performance is very poor with apex_item.checkbox row selector.

    Hi,
I'm working on a report that includes some functionality to be able to select multiple records for further processing.
The report is based on a view that contains a couple of hundred thousand records.
When i make a selection from this view in sqlplus , the performance is acceptable but the apex report based on the same view performes very poorly.
I've noticed that when i omit the apex_item.checkbox from my report query, performance is on par with sqlplus. (factor 10 or so quicker).
Explain plan appears to be the same with or without checkbox function in the select.
    My query is:
    select apex_item.checkbox(1,tan_id) Select ,
    brt_id
    , tan_id
    , message_id
    , conversation_id
    , action
    , to_acn_code
    , information
    , brt_created
    , tan_created
    from (SELECT brt.id brt_id, -- view query
    MAX (TAN.id) tan_id,
    brt.message_id,
    brt.conversation_id,
    brt.action,
    TAN.to_acn_code,
    TAN.information,
    brt.created brt_created,
    TAN.created tan_created
FROM (SELECT brt_id, id, to_acn_code, information, created
    FROM xxcjib_transactions
WHERE tan_type = 'DELIVER' AND status = 'FINISHED') TAN,
    xxcjib_berichten brt
    WHERE brt.id = TAN.brt_id
    GROUP BY brt.id,
    brt.message_id,
    brt.conversation_id,
    brt.action,
    TAN.to_acn_code,
    TAN.information,
    brt.created,
    TAN.created)
What could be the reason for the poor performance of the apex report?
And is there another way to select multiple report records without the apex_item.checkbox function?
I'm using apex 3.2 on oracle 10g database.
    Thanks,

    Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately changing the pagination doesnt make much of a difference in this case.
Without the checkbox the query takes 2 seconds.
With checkbox it takes well over 30 seconds.
The second report region on this page based on another view seems to perform reasonably well with or without the checkbox.
It has about the same number of records but with a different view query.
There are also a couple of filter items in the where clause of the report queries (same for both reports) based on date and acn_code and both reports have a selectlist item displayed in their regions based on a simple lov. These filter items don't seem to be of influence on the performance.
I have also recreated the report on a seperate page without any other page items or where clause and the same thing occurs.
With the checkbox its very very slow (more like 20 times slower).
Without it , the report performs well.
And another thing, when i run the page with debug on i don't see the actual report query:
    0.08: show report
    0.08: determine column headings
    0.08: activate sort
    0.08: parse query as: APEX_CMA_ONT
    0.09: print column headings
    0.09: rows loop: 30 row(s)
and then the region is displayed.
I am using databaselinks in the views b.t.w

  • Blackberry Link for Q10 with Outlook Sync has very poor performance and not good Functionality

I am wondering if anyone has tested this software. Blackberry Sync software for my previous phones were wonderful. I can sync my contacts and calender in a very short time. With this new Blackberry Link it takes about 1 1/2 hours Plus to complete. And when it does complete - it duplicates entries which I did not want.
Plus what is missing is the following:
        1. I am not able to say Update both Device and Outlook any longer. This functionality is gone.
My question: How does it do a two way sync if I only have a choice to use what I have on my phone or on outlook only
I want to be able to update my Outlook contacts with changes and addition I made on my Q10 phone and update my device with changes I made to Outlook.
Why did Blackberry remove this very flexible choice? Plus Blackberry Link has very poor performance.
I work for a large company and I do Enterpirse Software testing daily. Performance is the number one complaint for customers on top of the UI and functionality.

    Thanks for the reply.

A thing I noticed when I opened Descktop Software for the first time since the new Z30 is that the old application thinks it is looking for a Z30.  I havent even opened the application since before I got the new device.  The only way it could think I have a Z30 is if it is using a lot of the same files as Blackberry Link.   That is some pretty terrible software development practices in my opinion.  I'm going to take your suggestion and uninstall both apps, run a registry cleaner and reinstall BB Link and I bet it works a lot better afterwards.
    EDIT 12 March 2014 7PM EST
Still all of the same errors with regard to syncing outlook contacts and Schedules.  I will post all of the error messages I recieve here as I see them.  Application is always started by connecting device with USB cable.
    "Sync was unseccessful
Caught _com_error exception. Description(): Error in MAPILogonEx: MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED; Error(): -2147467259 (0x80004005); ErrorMessage(): Unspecified error; Source(): XCPCRdmptn.RdRDOSession"
    REBOOT
Change to sync contacts only, 1-way sync to computer, always use device data
    "Sync was unsuccessful
CPreferencesManager: Configuration Value for /Preferences/Account_1_65537/DevicePin not set in TransConfig.xml for translator RimBB"
    REBOOT
Application went through the whole process and hung for about 15 minutes and then completed successfuly syncing contacts only.
Change to callendar only.  Sync completed successfuly.  No hang or errors. very quick.
A new recurring appointment on the device was not transferred to the computer.
    Sync callendar again, completed successfuly.
Appointment is still not transferred to computer.
So far I've spent an hour tonight trying to sync my contacts and appointment changes from just one day.  I'm not thrilled.

  • Macbook Pro 11,2 tests very poor WiFi performance compared to iPad

    Configuration:
    MBP 11,2 running 10.10.1
    Airport Express 2014 vintage
WiFi Scanner.app speed test results on MBP range from 1 to 3 Mbps. My iPad Air (or iPad Mini) in the same physical position tests between 18 and 28 Mbps. WiFi Scanner.app shows SNR of 17 to 18 dbm.
The reason I am testing is because I have noticed network performance on the new MBP to be very poor in our current NZ location. In Palo Alto 2 weeks ago the MBP wifi seemed fine - I didn't bother to test.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
