Thresholding an image in order to determine areas

Hey everyone,
I'm somewhat new to Labview and I've only recently gotten the Vision Development Module and the Vision Acquisition software. It's extremely new to me and I'm at a loss. I searched around and couldn't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for, or maybe I didn't understand it enough to know. I'm really just looking for something to get me started.
I am wanting to create a VI that thresholds an image that is inputed from a previous VI that I have already created in order to determine the area (number of pixels) the objects take up on the picture.  The picture will have several metal objects on top of a colored background and will be later compared to another similar image.
What would be the best way to threshold this? Based on the colored background (most likely blue or green)? What I picture is for this to turn the image into black and white and then count the white pixels and group them by each object.
Attached are the image capturing VI which uses a webcam to take a picture and a test VI to try to figure out what thresholding is about.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello,
if you background is for blue for example, you could extract the opposite (complementary) color plane i.e. red to reinforce the contrast before thresholding:
BEFORE:
AFTER:
You can then manually or auto threshold. Manual threshoding needs to know the threshold values. The below part in your code is (probably) not correct:
Thresholding the image will convert the image to binary, no matter what value you specify, but the output is greatly dependant on this. The equation for Labview threshold function is (check the documentation to be sure):
IF f(u,v) >= Tlow AND f(u,v) <= Thigh, then f(u,v) = 1, otherwise f(u,v) = 0!
where f(u,v) is the value of the pixel at (u,v) location and Tlow is the lower threshold, Thigh is the upper threshold.
The range specifies this two threshold values. After you threshold the image, you can use morphology operations to reduce noisy data, fill holes etc... and use for example particle analysis (on binary image). If you use count and measure objects, you do not need to threshold the image before, since the function does this for you, again by specifying the threshold value(s).
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
K

  • Binary threshold - U16 Image

I have a simple example which I have attached (Vision 2013 but can save for previous if need be) in which I would like to apply binary thresholding to a range of values (minimum --> mean) in a U16 image.  This example is based on the particle analysis binary threshold example included with Vision for U8 images.  The thresholding does not appear to be working properly (to hilte the range of values red) and areas outside of the range appear to be getting thresholded as well.  Ultimately, what I would like to be able to do is actually display the gray scale (rather than binary) image and have the thresholded range show in red against the gray scale image.
    Any thoughts.

    Bruce -
Thanks for taking the time to reply.  The first question that needs to be answered is if the binary thresholding VI is properly working to hilite in red the range of values I have specified (non-zero min --> mean) for a U16 image.  The U8 version of this example VI works just fine.  I wanted someone to run my VI and see that what is getting hilited does not seem to match up with the non-zero min --> mean range.
In terms of thresholding on top of an actual gray scale image, another idea is to just find the pixels that fall within the range I have specified, and draw an overlay of points on top of the image.  That should work fine.  However, this is mainly for visualization purposes.
I really need the thresholding itself to work properly for 16-bit images in order to do a particle analysis.  So I needed a sanity check to see if somehow I am doing something wrong in the thresholding (this is a pretty simple VI, not sure what could be going wrong, so am wondering if it is not properly operating on U16 data).
    Sincerely,
    Don

  • How to get my images always order by file name, and not by time of captur, in all the folders in the library?

How to get my images always order by arquive name, and not by time of captur, in all the folders in the library?
Sorry for the poor english, but im portugues.
In the library we can change the order of classification of image by, time of capture, name of file etc... I'm wondering if its possible define to be always by the name of file.
    It ´s possible?
And i have other question, in print label we have an option to auto rotate to feet in page to have the image using the maximum area in the page (auto rotate, zoom etc), its possible to change the orientation of the rotation to be always in  the other direction?

The Muvos are USB Mass Storage devices and do not have the ability to display track information based upon ID3 tags.
The Zens all read and display track info based upon ID3 tag information that is either gathered from an online source or entered by the end-user.
If you want the track information displayed instead of the ID3 tag information, you could edit the ID3 tags and rename the title to whatever you have as the file name. Not sure why your file names would differ so much from the ID3 tag info though, almost all of my content has the same name for the filename as it does on the ID3 tag title.

  • Payment Order, Payment transaction area can not be posted

    Hi,
While creating a Payment order for a current account, we are recieving the following error:
'Payment Order, Payment transaction area can not be posted' and 'Error determining the number range'.
As a result Payment order is not getting created.
Number range interval has already been checked and assigned to the relevant Payment Transaction Area.
Please suggest the possible options to look for the solution.
    Thanks
    Shefali

    Hi Shefali ,
From the description you gave, it looks like the problem is related to number range only . Can you please double check if the number range you are mentioning is assigned to same Payment Transaction Area which is being used .
Also if possible post the long text with message ID if available.

  • Process Order -Batch determination for a BOM material(same batch)

    Hi Friends,
    Thanks in advance.
Let us say, a material (ROH) has so many batches as A,B,C & D. Whenever we create a new process order, system has to pick only the particular batch( say -C here)  in the process order BOM through batch determination.  (during process order creation stage)
1.How to achieve the same ?
    2. What are the ways are there to achieve the same ?
3.Is there any Exit for this?

    Hi Velmurugan & Vishwas,
    Thnaks for your feed back.
    1. Is there any other ways without batch classification ? ( Because there are so many material without MM-classification view.....and client wants without extending the Classification view for MM master as it suggests same batch for all GI for delivery & GR for purchase.....)...We want only for process order batch determination.....
    2. Is there any exit for this ?
    3. Is it possible through any kind of Characteristic assignment in the Sort sequence? How?

  • Purchase order price determination

    Hi Gurus.
    Please help on below Inquiries
In Purchase order, how is the net price determined?
Is it from the agreement? the info record? RFQ? Is there a sequence for this?
If there is, where is this configured?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Purchase order price determination takes place with help of  Access Sequences and Schema Group of Vendor.
You can go for pricing manually or automatic. If you need pricing automatic you have to go for use of Access Sequences and Schema Group of Vendor. You can customize your pricing procedure according to your requirement such as like Domestic, Import and Stock transport.
For the above individually you have to configure Pricing Procedure and the following steps are:
    SPRO->MM->Purchasing->Conditions->Define Price determination process
    1. Define Condition Table:
    2.Define Access Sequence,
    3.Define Condition Type,
    4.Define Calculating Schema,
5.Assign Calculation Schema, Access Sequence and Condition Type,
    6.Define Schema Group Of Vendor,
    7. Define Schema Group Of Purchasing Organization,
8.Assign Schema Group Of Vendor to Purchasing Organization,
9.Assignment of Schema Group Of Vendor ,Schema Group Purchasing Organization and Calculation Schema.
    10. Assign Vendor to Schema Group of Vendor (XK02)
    11.Maintain Condition record (MEK1)
after above steps, you can go for create PO in ME21N.
In the case of Import PO, you have to activate Import PO.
SPRO->Materials Management -> Purchasing -> Foreign Trade/Customs ->Control Foreign Trade Data in MM and SD Documents ->>>>>>

  • Image Download Order?

    Hi,
I have about 80 images in a simple list layout on my web
page. I want to specify what order they are downloaded because they
randomly download at the moment. So sometimes the last few download
first leaving a big gap etc. They are in order for a reason so I
would ideally like them to be downloaded and shown in the order I
have them listed. Sometimes the first image is last to download
    which is really annoying.
Is there any code to specify which order you want them
    downloaded in?

Images are not randomly fetched from the server, although
    they may appear to
be, based on the order that they visualize on the page. They
    are fetched in
the order that they are encountered in the code, reading from
    <html> to
</html>. Network congestion or file size would explain
    why they do not
visualize on the page in the same sequence each time (the
    heavier an image
is, the more opportunity there will be for packets of image
    information to
    get lost/delayed during transmission).
So - no, there is nothing you can do about this, other than
    to reduce the
weight of the images as much as you can.

  • Least (computationally) burdensome method of adding a filled rectangle to a thresholded IMAQ image

I regret bothering this forum with such a simple question. I am not very proficient in LabView, so every little design consideration takes a very long time for me to solve.
I am trying to add a filled black rectangle that covers the top quarter of a thresholded image.
The initial source are grayscale, 8bit images at ~30fps, that are thresholded into black/white. The resulting thresholded image serves as input for an old imaq vi called "IMAQ Basic Particle" (or in other versions of this routine, "IMAQ ComplexParticle"). I'd like to take this 640x480 pixel, 8bit black and white threshold, and just add a solid black rectangle to the top of it before it goes through IMAQ Basic Particle.
Browsing the forum (before posting!) gave me some ideas:
draw rect.vi -> picture to pixmap.vi -> unflatten pixmap.vi -> imaq array to image.vi -> then somehow merge this imaq image on top of the initial? (not sure yet which block to use here).
    draw rect.vi ->...-> imaq overlay bitmap.vi.
    or better yet:
    imaq overlay rectangle.vi  -> imaq merge overlay.vi.
I've spent the most time with the last route, and have one final problem with it. imaq merge overlay.vi seems to output into 32bit rgb, which my particle analysis blocks do not like. The image fed into, and resulting from, the merge overlay.vi is a simple black and white picture so i assume some final conversion of the 32bit rgb image output from Merge Overlay.vi into 8bit will fix this last problem.
When searching this topic on the forum, I found a thread where someone claimed that merging images was slowing down their routine significantly. So i came to ask: is this a slow process? is there a better way to do this? The overall program is big, and the speed of operation is my principle concern.

    There's a function for that...
IMAQ Draw in the pixel manipulation palette.

What are the different types of credit checks?

    Credit Check can be :
    1) Simple Credit Check
    2) Automatic Credit Control
Automatic Credit Control can be at various levels :
    1) Order
    2) Delivery
    3) Goods Issue
Automatic Credit Check is of many types :
    1) Static
    2) Dynamic
    3) MaximumDocument Value
    4) Maximum Open Items in percentage
    5) Oldest Open Item in number of days
    6) Crtitical fields change
    7) Highest dunning level, etc.
    You can create more.
Credit Check happens only in SD module, never in FI. Because the stage of the check is in the sales cycle, which exists in SD. FI guys will check the credit master sheets of the customer, the MIS, the analysis etc, review the credit limits of customers. But the check will happen only in SD, while creating order, delivery or doing the goods issue.

  • Images loading order & thumbnail pointing corresponding image directly

    Hi,
May i ask 2 questions here.
    1) If you can click this link http://www.prashanthvfx.com/Concepts&Imaginery.html, you can see that all my 14 drawings that had been lined up one after the other, are trying to load at the same time. Is there any way to prioritize, by which the 1st image loads first and 2nd image loads second and so on.
    2) If you can click this link http://www.prashanthvfx.com/art.html , you can find under "Concepts & Imaginary", i had displayed 14 thumbnails for the above link. All the images are linked to the above webpage (14 bigger images). Now, if you click on any thumbnail, it will open the link were all 14 bigger images are displayed from the starting. My question here is, can we device a way, by which if first if we click each image, it will point to the corresponding bigger image on the http://www.prashanthvfx.com/Concepts&Imaginery.html.
Meaning, if i click on the last thumbnail "Keep city Clean", it will open and directly point to the last image on the linked webpage, by pushing the vertical scroll bar all the way down, were the corresponding bigger image is displayed.
Kind note: i'm an artist and posting my work on my website. So, i really appreciate your answers.
    Thanking you,

Sorry, but you can't control the order in which page items load. This
is browser dependant and each browser handles the order differently.
Hi Nancy, i'm a bit shocked to hear this. I was thinking website designing has evolved over many years and so there should definitely be a way to load images in order. I am a Computer Graphcis artist and so not much good in scripting. But, i think we can device a simple script by which we can mention the images order separated by comma's "," and so the browser will not load the 2nd image until it has completely finishined loading the 1st image. Correct me if am wrong.
I don't understand your question.  Do you have a link to a web page that actually does what you're asking?
Sure I have. If you can click this link http://www.prashanthvfx.com/art.html , you can find under "Concepts & Imaginary", i had displayed 14 thumbnails for the above link. All the images are linked to one webpage were 14 bigger images are stacked. Now, if you click on any thumbnail, it will open the link keeping the vertical scroll bar at the top. So, you need to scroll all the way down to see the corresponding bigger image.  My question here is, can we device a way, by which if first if we click each image, it will point to the corresponding bigger image on the http://www.prashanthvfx.com/Concepts&Imaginery.html.
Meaning, if i click on the last thumbnail "Keep city Clean" , it should open http://www.prashanthvfx.com/Concepts&Imaginery.html and directly point to the last image on the linked webpage, by pushing the vertical scroll bar all the way down, were the corresponding bigger image is displayed.
Hope i am making myself clear with the above links and examples. I would be glad to give you further explantion if needed.
    I really appreciate your time.
    Thanks

  • Open Order reports that are tied to MRP?

    hi friends
i would like to know if there is any standard report(for open PO order items) with estimated Delivery dates on it.
i am aware of these reports
    1.     ME2M (by material)
    2.     ME2L (by vendor)
    3.     ME2N (by  purchase order number)
Does SAP provide Open Order reports that are tied to MRP?
    thanks
    alahari

    How do you define due?
if you mean has to be delivered today
then you can still use the reports mentioned
    you use selection parameter WE101
and in selection screen field delivery date, you enter the todays date, then hit F2 at this field and choose smaller equal. So you will get all open POs with delivery date from the past until today.

  • Firefox doesnt load an image when *lots* of tabs are open

    Hi,
An old website I created has a problem displaying a very large background image when *loads* of tabs are open (which makes me think its something to do with memory).
An example page of the site in question is:
    http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/about-us
The white background image (which is super large for reasons not to discuss now) will show fine when, say, up to 10 tabs are open. However, if you have loads and loads of tabs open, this image doesn't display/render (even though firebug says it has).
    Some info about the image:
    http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/sites/all/themes/southbank-centre/images/template-3-col.png
    79.6kb
    940px by 23000px (super huge I know)
The problem is when it doesnt load, the copy is hard to read (as you can imagine).
This doesnt seem unique to my computer. It happens to other peoples firefox browsers (and they have slightly different versions and different plug-ins).

I'm not having any problems on that page with over 80 tabs open and the number of tabs shouldn't matter.
Did you check if you can reproduce it with a clean new profile without extensions?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Sales Orders Report which are invoiced

    Hi gurus,
I want to take a report of Sales orders which are invoiced. Its order related invoice.
    Eg.
from 01.04.2008 to 30.04.2008 I created 120 Sales orders, out of 120 i created invoices for 80 Sales orders. Now i want the report of the Sales orders(80) which are invoiced. How can we get this report.
In VA05 Report we can find out open & all sales orders, but we cant find this report. other than this any report is there, please let me know.
    Cheers,
    Sumith

    Hi,
    1. You can use VA05, to find out the list of orders out of those 120 orders which are not yet invoiced. Thus you will know the invoiced orders.
    2. In this way, go to table VBAK to get the list of 120 orders you have created.
Give these 120 orders in VBUK table as preceeding document adn find the follow on documents which are of document category M. This will give the list of orders adn the invoice numbers created for them.
Now the rest of the orders are open orders.
    Hope thsi helps you
Pls reward if it helps you

  • Cancel Sales Order lines that are picked

    Hi
    1. I'm trying to cancel sales order lines through process order api that are picked and delivery status is Staged/Pick Confirmed. The error is
You are not allowed to cancel Order Line because:
    Line has been pick confirmed/staged.
I'm unable to perform by below means
1.There is a processing constraint on the field SCHEDULE_ARRIVAL_DATE.
Delete the processing constraint and retry the cancel line process - Processing constraint form the fields are protected against update
2.Navigate to the shipping transaction form and query the order. Select the line and enter 0 at shipped quantity.Save the record.Ship confirm the line, this will cause the line to be backordered.Query the order line in the order entry form and cancel this. - Shipping transactions form the fields are protected against update
    2. Is there a way to cancel Internal Sales Order(ISO) lines of one OU and the corresponding internal requisition is another OU
    Thanks
    kumar

If you are in R12, there are some enhancements from Oracle that allows updating/cancelling certain Internal requistion fields and Internal orders automatically. You may need to disable few processing constraints too.
As of Now Oracle support change to following attribute at OM side
    1 Order Quantity
    2 Request Date
    3 Schedule date
    4 Arrival date
Similarly if we make changes in following fields in Approved IR
    1 Quantity
    2 Need by Date
These changes will got reflected in ISO
Plus cancel the IR line or ISO line, the other one gets cancelled automaically.
To cancel the picked line, first undo the pick confirmation process by back ordering. or unassign the delivery details from the delivery (if created already) and cancel the delivery. In either case, you need to manually trasnfer the qty from staging area to original locations. Oracle doesn't automatically move the qty back, (undo move order transaction).
