There is a new software update available for your Thrive™ tablet. This update optimizes functionality on select utilities and applications from Toshiba and Google. Toshiba recommends you download and install this update.
Release highlights:
• Includes updates to Google Mobile Services applications.
• Improves performance capabilities of the Toshiba File Manager application when connecting to external storage devices.
• Corrects errors in the Calculator utility, specifically for some European languages.
The release number for this update depends on the tablet model and type, as follows:

You can update your system software by any of the following methods:
• Tap on the update message sent by the Toshiba Service Station application to your device, or:
• From the Home screen, tap on the “Apps” icon in the upper right corner. Locate the “Service Station” icon and application. Tap “Check for Updates” and follow the steps.
You will be unable to use your tablet for the duration of the install, which is expected to take a few minutes. The software updates automatically, and your tablet will power off and on as part of this update. It is recommended that you remove all devices from the USB port and the SD Card slot before initiating this update. Your tablet must be plugged in to a power source in order to complete this installation.
If you have previously installed the Google+ app on your tablet, please refer to the following support bulletin prior to initiating this update at: Error Using the Google+ Application.

I can't get the latest image update to download. Keeps telling me to check my internet connection, but it is fine. Any ideas?  I also have this problem.

    Issue Description
    On July 26, 2012 I placed an order with Apple store for the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display with the following configuration (Order # W269108641 Serial# C02J52S9DKQ5):
    Processor 2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Memory 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM, Flash Storage 512GB Flash Storage
    It was delivered August 8, 2012. It cost me $3,265.16
    I have since equipped it with accessories like a wireless apple keyboard ($69), wireless mouse ($69), USB super drive ($79), VGA display adapter ($29), Ethernet Adapter ($29) and the excellent sleeve/pouch from Pack & Smooch GmbH (GBP60))
    It's so heavily configured because it’s my main workstation. I additionally bought and installed Parallels 8 so I can run Windows 8 in a Virtual Machine because I have a few things on Windows that I need to be productive. This setup has been a dream machine until a little over a week ago.
    In the one year since I bought it, I have had only 2 issues;
    • A case of display flickering that resulted after a system software update on August 28, 2013
    (Case ID 498560320 - not much help came from Apple Support but fortunately the problem went away a week later after another system software update)
    • A case of battery failure that resulted after a system software update on October 11, 2013
    (Case ID 516534003 - I have gone through all recommendations from Apple support as I will detail below)
    Symptoms after system software update
    • Battery Icon on status bar disabled with a message "No batteries available"
    • Battery not charging
    • LED on the Magsafe power adapter no longer show
    • Keyboard backlights no longer show
    • Notebook fan loud/noisy and permanently at high speed
    • Date and time reset to a date in the past at each restart
    • Notebook starts up the moment the Magsafe adapter is connected without waiting for power button to be pressed
    • An update for "MacBook Pro Retina Display SMC Update 1.2" keeps appearing in Software Update
    Recommendations from Apple Support
    • Perform SMC Reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964)
    (Done - no change in status)
    • Run Disk Utility
    (Done - no errors found)
    • Run Apple Hardware test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509)
    (Done - no errors found, no change in status)
    • Visit Apple Store
    (Done - they confirmed no issue with Magsafe adapter. For a fee they are happy to change the battery if confirmed faulty and re-install the OS if the battery is not the issue but am uncertain that the OS re-install will resolve the issue because I have read online about a similar case where a re-install did not resolve the issue)
    • Check System Report/Hardware/Power
    (Done - Health Information/Cycle count:0, Battery installed: No)

    Comments and additional Observations
    Please note the following;
    • All of the symptoms above appeared after a system software update on October 11, 2013
    • This update first appeared on October 10, 2013 but I was too busy to apply it especially because it required a system restart
    • The battery was fully charged when I decided to apply the update on October 11 morning after I got to work
    • Normally on full charge, the battery will typically deliver 3 - 4 hours depending on usage and up to 6 hours when idle
    • The said update was not interrupted or anything of the sort
    • On the day the symptoms were first observed when I first logged the case with apple, the system ran on battery while it performed the Apple Hardware Test while I was driving to the Apple support store on my way home even though the status bar was indicating "No battery available" 
    I make the following deductions solely based on my observations
    • An apple authorized system software update broke the system
    • The nature of the failure is communication related - the battery charging circuit and related systems are not getting the necessary instructions to function as they should (It's a known fact that rechargeable batteries do NOT die instantaneously, the total hours they run on full charge will gradually reduce over time as they degrade on use)
    • It’s possible the update is not being applied correctly because the item “MacBook Pro Retina Display SMC Update 1.2” is still in Software update after subsequent attempts to apply it
    • The high fan speed is nothing to do with high temperature or high processor load, according to the Activity Monitor utility the highest CPU utilization 1.9 – 4.7% is by kernel_task (PID 0) followed by activitymonitord at 1.8 – 2.2% (PID 481)
    • The symptoms match what an SMC reset should resolve according to Apple documentation
    • This is a known problem within Apple based on the documentation provided and the numerous similar cases reported online
    Summary;
    The system is running OS X 10.8.5
    I have provided this detailed documentation in the hope that someone who understands this system can say exactly what is going on. It's meant to be a dream machine but now you can hear the fan from across a large room, the battery doesn't charge and is in fact not recognized so I lose data if the Magsafe adapter gets unplugged, and I have to reset the system date each time I restart the notebook.
    I've used this notebook with utmost care for a little more than a year, this investment of over $3,500 could have bought 3 high end notebooks from DELL or HP but I chose Apple.
    I have suffered untold loss in productivity in the last 10 days since this issue occurred, I respectfully request Apple to fix my notebook.

  • IPhoto won't open after most recent system software update

    I have just installed the most recent system software update for iPhoto and now iPhoto will not open. I get an error message - see attached screen shot - and I have tried cmd + alt to get the option to rebuild which just re-opens the error report again. Really need help as can't afford to lose all my photo's!

    Some people have fixed that by redownloading the 10.7.4 update and rerunning it.
    Others have reinstalled the OS

    Updated my AT105 last night. Sat with it during the process and eveything seemed to work fine. Downloaded local newspaper like I do every morning and off to work it went. At work, I sync my documents with Docs to Go. Here is where my problems start.Apparently the upgrade broke my docs to go licence link as the desktop app states I need to upgrade to v3.0 and buy the licence. I'm already at v3.0 and have the valid licence that worked all the way up to today. I also noticed that today when I view my device on my computer, the tree now shows my SD card and any USB memory as a separate device. OK I guess. What is not OK is the internal storage of my TT is now displayed with two identically named folders for every folder on my device. Only difference is each and every duplicate shows it was last modified exactly 1 hour before the original and the files in the duplicate cannot be accessed. I have also noticed that the content between the duplicate and the original is for the most part identical. Some folders are not identical. This is only showing up on my desktop, not on my TT. This is the first upgrade I've had a problem with. I'd like the folder issue cleared up.

    There is a software update available for THRiVE tablets.  This new release of version 1.5.0029 improves sleep-and-resume performance and adds additional codec support to enhance the multimedia playback capabilities.  We are aware that some users have experienced the inability to resume use of their device once it goes into sleep mode and have made improvements to address this.

    Includes some fixes that improves stability and performance when coming out of sleep mode

    I appreciate the fast response to this issue even though I have not been greatly affected by turning off wifi and manually putting the Thrive to sleep after each use. Hopefully those steps will no longer be needed although I think I may have developed that habit by now. Is there a way too provide a way to uninstall Kipersky, which continuously runs even without purchase, or QuickOffice that is duplicated after buying full version? I understand that Toshiba probably has agreements with these and other companies but it would be nice if Toshiba could provide a way to uninstall these and other preinstalled apps that tablet owners don't want, possibly 90 days after purchase registration date, without having to hack the tablet software. Such an option would I am sure be welcomed by all and avoid many folks messing with the installed OS. Thanks again for the prompt update and for keeping everyone advised.

  • Remote Desktop and Doing System / Software Updates

    I am new to Remote Desktop.  I am starting to use it daily in my class room to share things with students and lock screens, etc.  Is there an easy way to do system updates and software updates (adobe flash player, java, etc.) without having to manually log in to each machine?  I have to believe there is a better way...could someone point me in the right direction?  Thanks!

  • Instablility after latest system software updates

    After running the latest software updates (from 2/15 I think - daylight savings time thing, security update, and some java thing) my system has become unstable. Every time the system attempts to go to sleep I get that "screen of death" that instructs me to shut down the system with the power button and restart. This has happened 4 times in the past 24 hours.
    Are there known issues about this?

    When you get those instructions, it means you have had a kernel panic. These can happen because of file corruption in the drivers, bad peripherals, or bad hardware. An update will typically trigger such events if already one of those issues existed, as it opens up the possibility of something not being completely compatible.   • No Startup After System Software Update

    I updated my software last night from the Software Update that the system automatically runs. When I shut down my computer, it gave me 2 choices: "Shut Down" and "update and Shut Down". I chose the latter. This seems to have been a big mistake.
    This morning my computer won't boot up. It runs the gray apple screen with the spinning disc of lines for a few moments then shuts off. I've tried starting it up pressing the Shift, X, C and CMD-S keys (at different times of course). Same thing. I managed to get the Leopard Install CD into the CD drive. Same thing. It spins for a bit then stops. A couple minutes later the computer shuts off while still on the gray screen.
    I've tried resetting the PMU reset button.
    I've unplugged all peripherals. I even unplugged my second hard drive. No change. Gray screen for a few minutes then shut off. I even tried booting it with nothing but the CPU running. I unplugged the monitor and it still runs for the same amount of time then shuts off.
    Can someone tell me what the heck the software update did to my computer?
    More importantly, HOW CAN I GET IT TO WORK AGAIN?
    Please help! I'm lost without the use of my computer!

    Now, the fact that it shuts down after a few minutes indicates that there is something that the system does not like.
    Have you tried "verbose mode"? This will replace the Apple screen (which is the pretty logo that hides what is actually going on under the bonnet) with rows and rows of writing (UNIX script). It will tell you things such as "invalid" "error" "fails" amongst the lines:

    NB 2: You could try an NVRAM reset:
    To reset the NVRAM
    Boot holding "option + apple + o + f" until you get a white screen with black text. Upon releasing the keys you are presented with a command prompt.
    1. type "reset-nvram" at prompt and press return (will say OK if successful)
    2. type "reset-all" at prompt and press return (you will see a quick flash of commands and screen will blank)

  • System Software Update - smaller files?

    I am having problems with our Internet connection at work. File download is slow. Every time I try to update the system software, it takes half an hour, gets within about 2 MB, then it seems to quit and gives me a red "!" in the software update.
    In the bad old days of slow downloads, Apple used to make large downloads available in smaller files that could then be stiched together. I looked and can only find the 170 MB Mac OS X update (I just upgraded to 10.4 from 10.3.9).
    Any way to download smaller files?

    Unfortunately not. Find a local computer store with broadband, or a library where you can download on high speed internet, or ask a friend who has high speed internet to help you. If you have an Apple retail store or a user group nearby, or an authorized service center, they may let you use their store network to download the file and burn it to disk, or put it on a thumb drive.

    recently whwnever I try to opdate my system software from the finder the App Store app comes up. Is this the new way or .... it never says my system needs updating nor does it update my 4S, 3gs, iPad, Macbook Pro or this imac.

    With Mountain Lion the App Store is the method by which you purchase and upgrade purchased software. It also replaces the old Software Update preferences for system upgrades/updates. However, the App Store has nothing to do with iDevice software. For that you use the iTunes Store.
    If you are using Lion or earlier system updates continue to come by way of Software Update.

    Why is it when I update the system software using software update, it changes my settings in the system preferences?? For instance, after the latest system update, my desktop was changed and the "require password to wake from sleep" option was changed.....

    Are you using any utilities such as Applejack or Macaroni?

    In order to verify my data usage (which has significantly increased suddenly outside of my control) I need to know what updates were automatically installed, and what the volumes were.
    When I go to System preferences>software update>installed software I do not see an option 'view as a log'.

    Press return. The prompt will change to password: Enter your admin password and press the return key. The prompt will change to root#
    Copy this command from this post and paste it into the Terminal app.
    touch /var/log/system.log
    Press the return key.
    Enter this command.
    sh /etc/daily
    When the prompt returns type;
    exit
    and press the return key to return to your own shell.

  • IBook G4 will not restart after system software update

    After updating the system software, via software update, the system will not get past the initial gray screen with the spinning dial.
    This is my daugthers computer and she is out of town working and does not have any of the system disks with her.
    Any suggestions are much appreciated.

    Boot your computer from the install DVD, insert the DVD and shutdown the computer. Boot up while holding down the C key. Just before the install sequence you will see options in the menubar, select utilites, go to disk utility, select your target disk, verify and repair disk. You might want to verify and repair disk permissions as well. To answer your question it's not a virus as there are no viruses for MacOSX. It could be the updates did not install properly. Try that and follow with a post to let us know if that worked for you. What software update were you running when this happened?

  • Droid Pro not working after yesterday's system software update

    I downloaded it last night and now my Outlook exchange mail account shows no messages. I can send an email from my Droid Pro Outlook account but it does not receive any.
    Checked with corporate IT and there were no changes overnight to our corporate email system. My personal POP mail still works. Also Calendar is not syncing from corporate back to the Droid or from the Droid.
    Even more disturbing is the phone is running Hot and I can not get the charge above 20%
    I have restarted several times and all the settings are pre update.

    I think you interrupted the update.  The behavior you describe happened to me as well, but the update eventually finished.
    I would unplug the Apple TV for 30 seconds or so to see if that helps.
