Tiling in a non-tiling manager

First, I am so sorry because I know this has been the subject of many thread. Still my question is pretty precise ...
What would be the best window manager to use if I need  some tiling functionality within a floating desktop environment ? Or alternatively what would be the best tiling wm if I really want a floating workspace.
I have minimum needs. Most of the time I just want to see everything in stack fullscreen.  But I really prefer tiling with terminals and emacs (specially when I use the speedbar).
I have been using xmonad for a while. I know I can tile window individually. I don't really know if xmonad supports floating the whole workspace because well ... I have been unable to register/unregister xmonad components after the latest ghc upgrade (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=69681).  From that point, I have decided to drop xmonad ...
So my needs are:
- minimum
- prefer a simple wm such as Openbox to a massive desktop environment
- no need for complicated tiling algorithms
- need for simple tiling per workspace
- most applications I use work better in a floating workspace
Hope I did not bother to many people with yet another tiling window manager thread.
Thanks

i agree that stiler will suit you're needs.  you can download the version i use if you'd like.  it's one of the earlier versions w/o all the added features (filtering, ctrl+H/V, etc) that i don't use.  just adjust the paddings in the top section and try it out with `./manage.py simple`.
I haven't added any of those extra features to main branch, mainly because i like to keep it simple just like you said. They are in a separate branch named "grid" which has dual monitor support, grid layout, filtering etc.
oh i see, sorry to misrepresent; i tried to download your main branch a few times to "update" but it never worked so always went back to my manage.py that was copied out of the forum thread way back when.

  • Problem with non-container managed entity manager

    i am working on a project, in which i am using entity beans.i use netbeans, glassfish as application server and toplink as persistence provider .
    i created a java class that handles all the operations with the entitys, which means i using non-container managed entity manager.
    in the constructor
    try{
                EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("voidPU");
                entityManager = emf.createEntityManager();
            catch(Exception ex){
                throw new EJBException(ex.getMessage());
            }then i call a function in this class from a servlet
    the code of the function
    List users = null;
            try {
                ProgLanguages progLanguage = entityManager.find(ProgLanguages.class, languageId);
                users = (List) progLanguage.getUserIdCollection();
            catch(IllegalStateException illegalStateException){
                throw new EJBException(illegalStateException.getMessage());
            catch(IllegalArgumentException illegalArgumentException) {
                throw new EJBException(illegalArgumentException.getMessage());
            }i got an IllegalArgumentException saying Unknown entity bean class: class vanguard.server.entity.ProgLanguages, please verify that this class has been marked with the @Entity annotation
    what confuses me is that sometimes it works and most of the time it does not work, have i made anything wrong?, or there is a problem with any of the tools netbeans, glassfish, or toplink?

    Is it always the same entity that is reported as 'unknown' ? You mention that it works sometimes but is it the same deployment and the same code that works? The first thing I would verify is that the ear is being created as expected by netbeans. Check the persistence.xml file and verify that all of the classes are listed that will be used as entities.

  • How to find out if a Product is HU or non HU managed in SAP EWM ?

    Hi All,
    Sorry for a naive question. But i tried to google this thing but couldn't find much material on SAP EWM.
    How do i know if a Product is HU managed or non HU managed in SAP EWM ?

    you can control per storage type whether an HU is allowed or not.
    so you do not assign the HU but a setting if HUs are allowed or not.
    You can create a new HU in various processes e.g. picking or packing. It's not possible to list all possibilities here.
    What process are you trying to execute?

  • Transfer posting from Non-WM manage plant to WM manage plant

    Hi Guru,
    I want to trasfer FG from storage location of Non-WM manage plant to storage bin of WM manage Plant. I did this posting with Movt type 301 , in destination section WM tab is activated for WM manage plant but after posting , its not generating TR no which is necessary for TO while posting material to bin. But material is showing in storage location of WM manage plant.
    what to do in this situation? I want this finish goods be in destination bin of storage type.
    regds
    neeraj

    As I understand in OMJJ WM fields are allowed for IM-mvt 301 and you define the storage type and bin when executing the goods movement in IM.
    If the system directly posts the goods into the destination storge bin why do you need TR and TO?
    If you do not want to post the goods directly into the storage bin (=you do not define the values for the WM-fields of mvt 301) then you have to check your settings in SPRO > LE > WM > Interfaces > IM > Define Movement Types.
    Here you can set TR creation for the IM-mvt and then you can create TO by processing the TR from LB10.
    You can find several threads how WM-IM interfaces should be maintained.

  • STO from non batch managed to batch managed - Incorrect batch being posted

    Hi Folks,
    We use STOs to transfer materials from a non batch managed plant into a batch managed plant with a one step movement. The process we use is to create the STO and enter material, batch, quantity and receiving plant / Sloc. Then create an outbound delivery (which pulls through the correct batch) for the STO which we pick and PGI. The movements are a 647 out of issuing plant (no batch), a 647 into receiving plant (no batch) and a 101 into receiving plant (with batch).
    The problem I have is that even though the correct batch is in both the STO and the delivery, when the one step PGI is done SAP ignores the batch and automatically creates a new one.
    Any one seen this before?
    Cheers
    Keith

    Isn't possible the material once had been batch managed but later batch management was removed (and batches archived)? You can have a look at change hisotry of material master <-- update: forget this suggestion...you cannot remove batch management indicator if you have stock...
    If the material is really not batch managed (you can find relevant record in MCHA table) then it seems you have inconsitency in your system; it's better you report this error to OSS.

  • How does the shop floor know to pick non-WM managed materials?

    Hi experts...
    More of a process question this time.  The bulk of our materials are warehouse managed in SAP.  As such, when we release a production order, the warehouse gets a pick ticket (TO) to pick and stage those materials.
    Obviously, the non-warehouse managed materials do not appear on the pick list.  How, in most companies, do the warehsoue folks know to pick those items if they don't appear on the pick list?
    It must be obvious but I'm missing it!
    Thanks in advance.
    Sarah

    Hi,
    All production relevant materials in component list are present on the pick list. You can verify the same by executing CO27 (mass) or MIGO or MB1A (individually).
    For parts which are warehouse managed & if WM-PP interface is setup, once the order is released, a TR is generated for warehouse to process the picking, once the TR & TO is process, the GI is done.
    For parts which are not warehouse managed, the stock is managed in IM (i.e. at sloc level), for these the pick list which is printed at the time of order release will serve as a picking instruction for warehouse personnel & subsequently a GI is posted via MB1A / MIGO / CO27.
    Hope it clarifies.

    Vivek

  • Changing SLED date on non Batch Managed Materials

    Is it possible to change the SLED date on QUANTS for Materials that are not batch managed?  This date is originally recorded in the Goods Receipt (MIGO).
    The SLED is displayed in the LS24 Bins Stock per Material Report.
    Where this is incorrect on Batch Managed Materials the SLED date can be changed on the Batch in MSC2N, however for non Batch Managed Materials it does seem possible to change it.

    The SLED field only exists in the quant when shelf life management is active in Materials Management (MM). This happens when the material master is maintained accordingly.
    During a stock placement in MM you can enter either the production date or the shelf life expiration date. This depends upon whether the field Remaining shelf life has been maintained in the material master record. For example, if 10 days have been entered into this field, the system assumes that when goods are received, the production date was entered and calculates the shelf life automatically. If you leave this field empty in the material master, the system makes it possible for you to directly enter the shelf life expiration date.
    This date that is entered or calculated during the goods receipt is then noted in the quant that is created in the storage bin. If you add stock to an existing quant in a storage bin, the shelf life expiration date of the new quantity that is added is lost.

    Dear All,
    I have one storage location that is Warehouse managed and non-HU managed. I have another sloc that is warehouse managed and also HU managed. I want to move stock from the first to the second. I use HU04 and specify the destination storage type and bin. The movement is executed and I can see the stock in the final storage location and  bin. But stock is still visible in the original storage location and bin. Also a negative quant is generated in the final storage type/bin.Moreover, there is no posting chnage notice created.
    Is there a way I can get this posting change notice created?

  • Non HU managed PSA

    Hi All,
    I need to know if it is possible to move inventory from a WM / HU managed location in to a Non HU Managed PSA location.
    Can anyone help answer this.
    Thanks
    Stuart

    Hi,
    You can transfer stock from Hu managed to non HU managed Loc trough VLMOVE
    Use movement type 311 (If you want to move within a plant)enter HU number
    Now at "Material Tab" Mention stktrnsfsloc as the location on which you want to move the stock.

  • If I plug my iPhone into a computer, and just want to play non-manually managed music, why does that computer have to be authorized?

    My home base computer has been authorized to play music my friend has downloaded from iTunes.  I can upload that music to my iPhone and play it on the phone without any issue.  When I am at work, I plug my iPhone into my computer and play music through my work computer.  But the music is not manually managed, nothing is being stored on that computer, it simply streams through to the headphone jack, allowing me to use iTunes as a control panel for the phone's music library.
    I can play my own music just fine (because my work computer is authorized for my account).  But I can't play my friend's music, because my work computer isn't authorized for HIS account.  Nor should I expect him to waste one of his 5 authorizations on my work computer.
    But why does it need to be so?  If I'm already authorized to play his songs on my iPhone, then what difference does it make if it's streaming through my work computer or not?  Why does Apple care, and why are my music playing rights being unnecessarily infringed?  I am currently a very unhappy iTunes customer because of this.
    We don't have to buy music from iTunes you know.  If I buy the CD, I can upload it without any of these play rights issues.  I can give my friend my CDs while he gives me his and all of this goes away.  The harder and more user unfriendly playing music from the iTunes Store becomes, the less likely we'll be to buy it.  This is a very simple fix.  If my home base computer is authorized and I can put music on my iPhone, I should be able to play that music off the phone anywhere at any time, so long as I'm not making a copy.  And I am not making copies.  Fix this or we shop elsewhere.

    I spent an hour on the phone w/ apple support this morning. I went through all the trouble shooting and it appears everything is working fine...until you plug the phone in and try to use itunes. Then they put me on hold for 20 min. While they did this i had a guy at work who had an older version of itunes on his cpu plug my phone in. Voila! It popped right up in iTunes. Their product specialist told me to uninstall and reinstall iTunes 8.2. Didn't work. Then they told me to uninstall and reinstall an older version of iTunes. That way I could get music on my phone, but I would not be able to update to the newest version of the iPhone OS. That's great and all, but it really hasn't solved any problems. I'm giving apple the benefit of the doubt due to the fact they just released the newest version of itunes, a new iphone, and a new iphone OS; so there's bound to be bugs and fixes. But that goodwill probably won't last to long. So if they won't fess up to the fact there's a problem w/ the new iTunes soon and fix it I guess they're going to have to give me a new phone.

  • Transfer posting between 2 StorLoc (Non HUM managed to HUM managed), MB1B

    Hi,
    I'm trying to figure out if after MB1B transfer posting (311 movement) an inbound delivery will be created automatically for the receiving StorLoc. This is for transfer of materials from a Non HUM StorLoc to a HUM StorLoc.
    If a inbound delivery can be created automatically what costomizing steps do I have to do?
    Thanks for you help.

  • How to mimic non colour managed environment in CS6

    Can anyone tell me please if it is possible to see in Photoshop what an image will look like when it is out in the un-colour managed world?.I can see how you can do it if you are saving for web because you can preview it in a browser, but is it possible to do this with TIFs and PSDss please?
    I have a wide colour gamut display and even with it set to sRGB colour mode emulation, sRGB tagged images that look correctly saturated in Photoshop look oversaturated once out of it and in an uncolour managed environment - particularly the reds. If I can replicate this environment in PS I can edit the colours to make them more neutral looking.
    Thanks.

    I think you are very wise t have x2 sRGB displays.  If a large sRGB display had been available I would have bought it.
    Could you bear to help me with another - display issue,please?
    As part of the work I do I have to make screen recordings of images being produced for the magazine.  I use Camtasia for this and they insist on a 1024x768 resolution.  This has been no problem in the past with my standard sRGB display (NEC 2490/2) because the aspect ratio was right for it.
    The aspect ratio was not right for the Spectraview display (2560x1440) so I used the original 2490 also attached to my graphics card to make the recordings at 1024x768.
    Now, something has changed in the arrangements and when I set the 1920x1200 display to 1024x768 the image stretches as if it were in the wide display.  I am defeated as to why the standard display can no longer show 1024x768 at the correct aspect ratio.
    I am not aware of having changed any W7 settings - both displays are recognised. Though I do notice that under the "advanced settings for the W7 resolution window, and under the "Monitor" tab, the 2490 is not available - only the wider display (271) - here is an image that shows this:
    When you open the "Colour Management" tab all the resolutions are available for  the 2490/2 but as I said, when you select the 1024x768, it appears as it would (and does) on the wider display.
    Can you suggest what I've done wrong and how I might fix this, please.
    Thanks.

  • Block ActiveSync for non Intune managed devices

    Hi!
    is it possible to block Active Sync for devices, wich are not managed by Intune? (Active Sync Quarataine, wich will auto-allow MDM devices?). It would be great to take a Hand over the byod devices...
    Bye
    André

    Thanks. Unfortunately 2 EAS policies will not work for me, because EAS policies are set on users/mailboxes. This would result in devices not secured by neither Intune nor EAS.
    I believe this is a shortcoming in Exchange/SCCM/Intune. There should be an option where an administrator can define whether EAS or Intune policy is leading.
    Do you know some place to write feedback to the Intune / SCCM development team?
