i have ordered a Time Capsule 2TB
i want to connect to the Time capsule this:
G-technologie 8 TB G-SPEED Q RAID-oplossing (hdtower)
UPC of EAN nr.: 705487185744 in the mac store
i want to connect to the Time Capsule this for my TV to play movies from the harddisktower connected to my time capsule:
LG DP1W MEDIAPLAYER/CENTER without harddisk build into it, with WiFi connection butt, i'm gonna use te 2.0 USB connection that is faster and stabile.
-Connecting the Time Capsule to the Internet
i'm also gonna use this: gear4 PG467 UNITY REMOTE(control everything with iphone)
i'm also want to connect by 2.0 USB my canon all in one foto printer, WiFi is not working properly and i have many times problems with connection my printer wireless.....
And for the future i also want to connect a Dymo Labelprinter by 2.0 USB

  • Can't Connect to Mac Mini Server 10.8

I want to use Screen Sharing to run a headless Mac Mini Server (late 2012) running Server.app under Mountain Lion.
From my Mac Mini I can connect to my iMac on the same LAN and use Screen Sharing, but I can't do the opposite, which is what I need to do. This is very frustrating because the support for this key feature is just plain awful.
Yes, screen sharing is checked under File Sharing preferences on the Mac Mini Server. And yes, both the display and the computer are set to never sleep on the Mac Mini Server.
What must I do to connect to my Mac Mini Server from my iMac so I can run the Mac Mini Server headless?
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

"Screen Sharing is currently being controlled by the Remote Management Service"
I've been fidgeting between the Server.app server Settings tab and the Screen Sharing checkbox in System Preferences Sharing pane all day.
I had tried "Share Screen" via Finder. After I tried "Share Screen" via Server.app from my client computer I noticed the above warning message when Screen Sharing in the server's System Preference Sharing pane was highlighted. I'm not sure which is cause or effect.
Everything is checked on the server "Settings" tab in Server.app on the server. Only "FIle Sharing," "Remote Login" and "Remote Management" are checked on the Sharing pane in System Preferences on the server.
Everything is checked on the server "Settings" tab in Server.app on the client. In this case, "Allow remote administration using Server" is checked and grayed out. "Screen Sharing" is checked on the Sharing pane in System Preferences on the client. (It may not have anything to do with a successful screen share connection, but it is on.)
Everything is now working better than expected. Thanks to you both for your help!

  • Can't connect to Mac Mini Server

I am setting up a new Mac Mini Server for the first time and cannot connect to it from the local network. The Mini is connected to the local network and the internet via an Airport Extreme Base Station. The server appears in the Finder of my MacBook Pro under "Shared" but will not connect. I was able to connect prior to turning on some services in Server Admin (including enabling the Firewall). I allowed the server to control the Base Station upon initial setup but was not sure if it configures and turns on it's firewall services automatically. Should I have Firewall enabled in Server Admin?

    Blankfer,
Did you re-enable Firewall in Server Admin and then open the screen sharing ports?
I'm still confused as to whether the Firewall in Sever Admin is only supposed to be used when the sever is acting as an internet gateway. I was under the impression that the Mini was controlling my Airport Extreme's firewall services for me in the background. After my initial configuration through Setup Assistant (including selecting the option to have the server control my Airport) the Firewall in Server Admin was not enabled. Does Firewall being disabled in Sever Admin mean I have no firewall up at all? ...I plan to have it running web and mail services so I need to make sure it's secure.
    -Thanks

I'm running Mac mini Server 10.6 with 15 various Apple Mac desktops 10.4 / 10.6. The problem i'm having is that i'm unable to search for files on the server from any of the desktops. I have fixed permissions and rebooted. I can perfomr a search though command - F and spotlight from the server.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    I have a Mac mini server with Mac osx 10.6.8 installed --- I have a website {UNDER CONSTRUCTION} installed on it with a REGISTERED DOMAIN NAME belizeansworldwide.com -->[DNS service w/GoDaddy]  & DSL INTERNET service  w/VERIZON --- {My server is the ONLY DEVICE CONNECTED to my VERIZON DSL router/modem}

  • Mac Mini Server Shuts down every 14 days for no apparent reason.

Just before 8 AM every other saturday morning, I have a Mac Mini Server running 10.8.5 server that powers off. There is no indication of anything out of the ordinary happening prior to the shutdown. On restart the server continues to operate properly for another two weeks until it shuts down again. The only log entry I'm seeing that seems to indicate what might be going on is:
    Dec  7 22:51:29 localhost kernel[0]: Previous Shutdown Cause: 3
This past weekend I attempted to get around the issue by having the system set to automatically turn on or wake at 11 AM, but that did not happen.
I've checked cron and launchd and nothing is scheduled around that time.
    Any ideas?

Yes, a glitch with any less-interruptable power supply — they're never truely uninterruptable — could well trigger this outage.
If you're willing to run with grid power for two weeks plus a day, then cable the APC out of the path, and see if your uptime makes it to fifteen.
Probably much quicker and if you've got some off time where you can quiesce most of the activity on the Mac to allow it to crash hard with less risk to your data and your processing, then pull the input to the APC and see if the Mac crashes.
Various APC units run a self-test every two weeks, so a problem with the self-test or the switch-over or with he battery could well cause the reported problems.  Could also be the quality of the power being generated (I'm running Smart-UPS units because of that) or the APC is overloaded, but I wouldn't expect that to occur on a particular schedule.
This reeks of the self-test or the power relay, or the battery.
Some semi-related discussions here, and probably elsewhere on the net.

  • Connecting new Mac mini server to Xserve RAID?

Have an Xserve RAID and was looking in getting the MacMini server. How would I connect them since the Xserve only has Fibre connections?

Tod's correct.  You currently can't, but the next revision of the Mac Mini will include ThunderBolt, and once that happens you'll be able to use a ThunderBolt-to-Fibre bridge that Promise is about to release:

  • Event Photography & Mac Mini (Server)

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to accomplish the following with the Mac Mini Server?
I photograph sporting events & for the few times where I have to shoot on spec, I need a system whereby I can take the photos & load them onto a computer, do a couple of quick edits (mostly cropping) and then get the photos in front of the client.
With the dual hard drives on the Mac Mini Server, could I load my originals on one drive and then export the smaller file/cropped photos to the second hard drive where clients can view them from either iPads (tethered to the table!) or from other computers?
I'd like to place some viewing software on the second drive and sort the folders based on team & time of game (ie team a vs team b @9am) as this will make it easier for parents to find the photos. Parents find the folder & open the pics ... still not sure what software will work best but I'll figure that out later
OR .... can I accomplish the same thing with a MBP and place the software/photos into a public/share folder and have parents access the photos on their viewing stations?
I'd rather not go the PC and the wireless 3G option might be the most convenient option as I could load all the photos directly to my website and have the galleries ready for parents ... however upload times are about 5mb/sec and when I have hundreds of photos to upload ... well, the data plan is pretty much shot. As a result, I'm looking for more of a wi-fi or hardwired solution.
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me ... I just don't have much experience in this area & could really use some help.
    Thanks for your time.
    Take care,
    Brent

The speed difference from using the drives in that manner would not be that huge. I would prefer that you mirror the drives, so that you have another source of redundancy for those pictures you just shot, that have not yet been archived. This will help protect these valuable pictures before you get back to your studio.
I would create a web gallery of the pictures in question and put them in a folder on your the Mini that you setup to be accessible via web sharing.
Use a wireless router at these events, to setup a wireless network just for your exhibit purposes. Keep the network unlocked to make it easy for your clients to connect. Name the network "Photos Only" so that it's clear to people that the network does not provide internet access.
Then give the clients the IP address of your Mac, which they will enter into their mobile browser. (IP address found in network control panel)

  • My Mac Mini (Server edition) has insomnia!

    Greetings!
Let me begin this by clarifying that, while I have a Mac Mini Server (mid 2010), I purchased it for the hardware and do not use it as a dedicated server, hence why this is actually a problem for me. Now that that's out of the way, the problem:
Up until this morning my Mini has slept fine whenever I manually put it to sleep via the Apple menu. This morning, however, when I tried to put it to sleep before leaving for work, it seemed to sleep for about one minute (at least the screen was dark and the light was pulsing), after which it suddenly sprang back to life. It did not even ask for my password as it should after emerging from sleep. At first I thought it might have had something to do with the FireWire drive I had connected to it, so I disconnected it and tried again. Same thing happened. After work I tried a third time just for kicks, and after appearing to sleep for one minute and then waking up again I checked the console. Here is what I found:
8/17/10 4:08:44 PM /usr/sbin/serialnumberd[6198] Responding to network change notification.

The last bit about Entourage caught my eye, but I had put my computer to sleep successfully with Entourage running in the background plenty of times in the past (and the problem persists even after quitting Entourage and putting the computer to sleep). The only thing out of the ordinary is that, as of last night, I now use OpenDNS. Because of all of the mDNS Responder events in the console, I'm thinking that might be the culprit. Does anyone else agree and might have a solution to fix this? I would prefer to use OpenDNS but if it is going to continue to prevent my computer from sleeping then I suppose I'll go back to using Comcast's DNS servers.

Have you installed any software which provides for remote system access? Such software frequently disables sleep. For example ShareTool from YazSoft and the LogMeIn service.

  • Mac Mini Server - No Monitor - Can't purchase HD Movies

I have a Mac Mini Server in a closet that has no monitor.  I screen share from a MacBook Pro to use it, and it's the primary iTunes account I access from my AppleTV 2.  Because the ATV2 doesn't allow purchases of movies, I have to go to the Mini and buy from the iTunes store.  Problem is, when I Screen Share in to make the purchase (HD), it won't let me buy/play because I don't have an HDCP compliant monitor connected.

Do you have the latest update for I tunes? I see HD on my I Mac and 1st gen. Apple tv

  • Mac Mini Server Boot Camp Windows 8.1 White Screen Issue

    Hello Apple Peeps!
I have a Mac Mini Server 2012 which I have had for around 6 months. I use it quite a lot mainly for Music Production on the OS X side and Graphic Design on the Windows side.
I recently decided to factory restore it as I wanted to spring clean it and reorganise the way some of my apps were installed. The way I had it set up was it was running OS X on one SSD and Windows 8.1 (installed using Boot Camp) on the other SSD. The way I went about the factory restore was I first used disk utility to erase/format the Windows SSD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and then went about the factory restore of OS X onto the other SSD as normal (following instructions from the Apple website).
The issue I am having now is that my newly installed Windows 8.1 (used solely on a single SSD) is hanging on a white screen for quite a long time before the Windows splash screen shows up, where before when I would boot or restart into Windows there was no white screen and it would go straight into the Windows splash screen and load to the desktop very quickly.
    So my question is...
Why do I get this prolonged white screen before the Windows 8.1 splash screen appears? How can I get rid of it? It was certainly not present on my previous installation. Can anyone advise me what the computer is doing during this time so that I can do some further research into a solution.
    What I have tried already....
    1) PRAM & SMC reset.
    2) Setting the startup disk to Boot Camp in both OS X and Windows 8.1.
    3) Reinstalling Windows 8.1 through Boot Camp.
MAC MINI SERVER (LATE 2012), 2.6GHZ QUAD CORE I7, 16GB RAM, 2 x 256GB SSD, OS X 10.10.2, Windows 8.1 (Retail), Boot Camp Assistant (5.1.3), Covered By AppleCare.
I would really appreciate some help with this ;-)

I have right clicked on each SSD in Device Manager and selected the option 'Properties' from the drop down menu, which brings me to this window...
I'm not sure where I can find Device Attributes, I have clicked on each of the tabs in the window above, as far as I can see none of them mention AHCI enabled or anything similar. Thanks for all of your responses by the way...much appreciated!

  • Change SSL self-certificate email contact and default apple ID on mac mini server

    Hello,
I just received my mac mini server and started to set it up.
I bought this computer with my regular apple id account that I use with my 2 MBPs.
When installing the mac mini computer I connected my Mac Mini Server to my regular apple ID account.
The issue is that I don't want to share my MBP account details on this Mini Server computer (software update, server notification push, SSL certificate contact e-mail...) not to mess things up between all my macs.
    My question is :
I created a new apple ID for this computer with a different contact email etc.
How do I change the default ID for the whole mac mini settings ?
I already changed the user settings in the OSX user pref pane, the new mail is updated.
I already changed the icloud apple ID with the new one it's updated.
I already changed the alert notification push recipient e-mail in server.app it's updated.
BUT still, if I want to change the "self-SSL certificate" for a new one with my new apple ID account, the e-mail contact is still my old one which I bought the computer with.
How do I change that ?
Also I want to be able to update my apps on this computer without using the apple ID account I bought the mac mini with (and my 2 MBP, iphone etc), but with the new dedicated apple ID for this McMini.
Is there a software transfer trick to separate computers softwares from a mac to another?
    thanks for your precious help.

  • Cannot print to Mac mini Server print server from MBP

Setup two USB printers on a Mac Mini server, they were recognized and new drivers downloaded. I can print from this machine. I shared them over LPR, IPP and SMB and announced through Bonjour
I installed the printers on a new MBP
When I try to print it starts to spool but the printer goes to pause. If I un pause it just goes back to pause.
The error log said printer does not exist, I have removed and reinstalled the printers - no change
    I have no quotas
    Firewall ports open
Have tried printing via LPR, IPP using generic PostScript driver and vendor specific
Printer service is up in Server Admin
I have not setup a an LDAP entry for this device as I thought I would not have to - am I worng here
The other odd thing is I have Parallels setup on same MBP and I loaded Bonjour there and it prints fine from the VM - wierd huh?
What have I done wrong here

How do you locate the firewall settings on the server?

  • What is the best way/quality of connecting my Mac Mini to an external HiFi system?

    Hello,
I am using my Mac Mini for storing and playing music using iTunes.
In terms of audio quality, what would be the best option for connecting the Mac Mini to my external HiFi system?
    1) Using an optical cable?
    2) Using a analog cable?
    3) Using a USB connected DAC? (maybe the best option but surely the most expensive)
If the option 3 is only the good one, would suggest a DAC product?
    Thx for your help
    Best Regards,
    -- Jean-Baptiste

The optical output is capable of doing 5.1 surround sound (as well as 2.1 or basic stereo) and is therefore more than capable of fully supporting lossless audio formats like AIFF, WAV, FLAC, Apple Lossless as well as all DVD audio formats. The optical (TOS-Link) interface is not capable of fully supporting the higher end audio standards supported by Blu-Ray discs.
For full Blu-Ray support you would have to use a HDMI interface.
So with regards to purely CD sourced material and even potentially DVD-A (DVD Audio discs), and SACD (Super Audio CD) it should be fine.
Some anally retentive audio fanatics will say that potentially some of the signal can be lost over a TOS-Link optical connection and they would insist on having an audio interface to act as a dedicated DAC (Digital Audio Convertor) with direct links to the speakers. I would say ordinary humans will be more than happy with a lossless audio format being sent over an optical link which will definately be superior to AAC over a copper wired link.

  • Any help with a Time Capsule install and Mac Mini server screen share?

Installed a Time Capsule, now I can't access my mac mini server.  I see the files/folders, but cannot screen share with the mini from my macbook pro.  Any help?  Error below when trying to use the "screen share" button in Finder.  Macbook Pro and Mac Mini are using Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
Connection Failed Error: Please make sure that Screen Sharing (in the Sharing section of System Preferences) is enabled on the computer to which you are attempting to connect. Also make sure your network connection is working properly.
Please help, I'm really stuck on this one!

Try removing the TC and see if the problem disappears.
Screen Sharing has a checkered histroy looking back through the posts..

There are many discussions about failing after changes in Lion.. I haven't seen the equivalent ML yet.. the TC may not be root cause, just the initiator of the problem.
It could be the BTMM associated with the TC.
