Time Series in BAM Reports

Hi All,
I am trying to create a Report which shows the last 8 hour status of the application. I am able to create a report for that but the issue is that in X-axis I want only the time to be shown instead of Year,Day and time.
2013,Day 248,11:30 - This type doesn't look good. I want only 11:30 becoz, I am showing only last 8 hours status.
Please help me on this

Nataraj R.

Hi,
If a system is setup at UTC and say Australian local time has major offset from UTC. If a sales manager sitting in australia want to see sales for a particular day, if you look from system time point of view, it will be x% from previous day and y% from current day.
My question is that, is there any standard solution to get individual time zones look the central data in their own time range.

  • How to show the processing time taken for a BPEL process in BAM report.

    Hi All,
I have the data as below in the Data object. I would like to show the time taken for each order to complete in the report.
instance Id     order Id     product Name     product Code     price     status     instance Time      updaterName
    1360010     ord004     Guitar     prod003     2000     requested     9/22/2008 12:12:11 PM     Invoke_InsertSalesOrder
    1360010     ord004     Guitar     prod003     2000     Approved     9/22/2008 12:15:11 PM     Invoke_OrderStatusUpdate
This data comes from simple BPEL process where sensors are configured at the start and end of BPEL process. Also have a human task activity in between to create the time difference.
In Enterprise link design studio, I tried to calculate the time difference using expression calculator and store it as calculated field. But that doesn't seems to work because when I execute the plan, second sensor data reaches only after human approval whereas first sensor data would be waiting for calculation and ultimately nothing comes into data object.
How and where the calculation be done to show the processing time in the report. Please someone throw some light on this.
    Regards
    Jude.

I would suggest modifying your data object so that the data can all be in a single row and use the sensor at the end of the process to upsert (update) the row created by the sensor at the start of the process. The time difference between two fields in the same row is then an easy calculation on a BAM report -- No EL plan should be needed.

  • How to modify a default report in ByDesign / Time series?

    Hello everybody,
I am currently working with the HR Dashboard - Employee Time (HCMTLMU01_Q0010) and I am facing a problem with the time series <Year to date>. Actually, this is a problem for all reports with Time Series.
I would like to know if it is possible to delete the Time Series from a default report? Because I cannot find how to do it.
I could also do what I want in another way, by modifying the format of the Time Series. Is it possible or not?
Like changing it from an interval to a fixed date, but keeping the behavior of the criteria from start of the year to current date. But I cannot find how to it neither.
Are these actions possible or I have to go back to the original data sources used by this reports and create my own?
Even if I doubt creating the same report "just" without the time series is not as easy as it sounds.
    Thank you all,
    Best regards,
    Jacques-Antoine

thanks. it seemed like it worked. once. but when i tried to modify the default trans
ition time, it would not accept the new value.
also can you explain what is the difference between the unit that are used.
the entry screen asks for frames, but if you look at the duration in the effects

  • Balance for open periods in a time series enabled cube

    Hi,
We have a request to calculate balance for open periods in a time series enabled cube, I don’t there is any inbuilt function for this.
Any ideas on how to calculate this without adding new members/formulae in the time dimension. Currently we compute this in the report
    EX:
    BOY(May) = Jun+Jul + … + Dec
    Thanks,

You will have to add a member somewhere. Suppose you add it in scenario, then you could use sumrange for the current member range offsetting the current monthe by 1 and use null for the end month wich gives you the last month in the time dim.

  • Time-series Chart

Warning, CR Newbie here so this may be a stupid question. I am evaluating the trial version of CR to see if it will be a good fit for an upcoming project. I've seen some related posts in the SCN, but no answers that quite fit.
I'm looking to create a line chart (or a scatter chart) with time-series data. My dataset includes a time stamp field (yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss) and some floating-point temperature values like this:
    2014-05-01 08:00:00, 123.4, 115.1, 109.2
    2014-05-01 08:00:10, 123.6, 116.0, 109.8
The desired outcome has the date / time along the X-axis with data points spaced proportionally in the X dimension and plotted in the Y-dimension according to the temperature. The interval between the time stamps is not always the same, so numerical scaling is required on both axes. The desired chart would show a temperature scale along the vertical axis, three trend lines for the three series of temperature data and times shown on the X axis label.
I've played with several options in an attempt to make this work. On the data tab, it would seem I would want to select "on change of" and then my time-stamp field. However, with this selection, I can only use summary values and end up with a chart with a single data point for each series. I don't need or want any summary calculations carried out on the data, I just want to plot it so I can look at a trend over time. I can get trend lines if I select "for each record" on the data tab of the wizard, but then my X-axis is meaningless and the horizontal scaling is misleading unless the interval between my samples is constant.
I would welcome any suggestions on how best to accomplish this with Crystal Reports.
    Thanks for reading.

    Jamie,
Thanks for continuing to reply. I am getting close, but still no success.
Here is the procedure I've followed and problem:
    Put chart in RF section
    Start Chart Expert
Chart Type = Numeric Axes, subtype = Date axis line chart
    Data tab
    On change of datetime field
Order... ascending, printed for each second
Values avg of my data fields (must select summary when on change of is used)
Right-click on X-axis label, select Group (X) Axis Settings
Scales tab: base unit, major unit and minor unit can only be set to days, months or years
I cannot set the minimum and maximum date with resolution other than day
Right-click Chart, select Chart Options...Axes tab: show group axes set to show time scale
No matter the setting I use, I can't find a way to adjust the resolution of the time scale lower than days.
I tried using a formula to extract only the time portion of my datetime field. I used that as my "on change" data series, hoping maybe CR would automatically recognize I was looking at a fraction of a day if I did that. No good - now it gives me a date scale with the dates showing up as the beginning of the epoch, but I can still only get resolution of integer days.
Thanks for your patience and persistence.

  • TODATE time series function in OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
I have a problem with time series function. I have month level in time dimension hierarchy.
I have used below expression to get month to date results in my reports.
    column
    expression----> TODATE(fact.measure, hierarchy.Month level);
when i am using this column in my reports it is showing null values. The below error i am getting in view log files
----------------> Converted to null because it's grain is below query's grain
Note: Here i have measures, year, qtr, month, day, shift, hour in single physical table in physical layer.
Is it a problem to have measures and time columns in a single physical table?
Please let me know if you have any solution.
    Thanks,
    Avinash

Yes, it shud be a prob. Try using seperate tables for fact n timedim

  • Drilldowns on measure columns based on time series functions.

    Guys,
I am new to OBIEE and i need your Help!! I have a dashbaord report which shows the sales USD for the colums below.
REGION , PRIOR MONTH , CURRENT MONTH PRIOR YEAR , CURRENT MONTH PRIOR YEAR MTD , CURRENT MTD , ACTUALS YTD.
All the measures are logical columns caluculated in the RPD using the Time Series Functions. The dasboard report has a Prompt Calender Date and all the measure values are caluclated based on the date entered in the prompt.
For example if the Calender Date on the prompt is 5/31/2011 then the value for the PRIOR MONTH will the sales for APR-2011 and the value for CURRENT MONTH PRIOR YEAR will be MAY-2010 and so on.
The business requirement is to provide the drill down capability on these measure columns. When i click the sales number on the prior month column it should give me all the detailed transactions for the month of APR-2011 considering the prompt for calender date is 31-MAY-2011.
I have provided drilldowns based on the Navigation using the column interatcion but i am unable to understand how to provide the drilldown on the measure columns using the time series functions to caluclate the sales for PRIOR MONTH. CURRENT MONTH PRIOR YEAR...etc.
    Please Help!!!
    Thanks,
    Sandeep.

    1. Create an alias fact table (Year Ago) to pull last year value.
    2. Extend your fact table to store another measure (last year sales)
    3. Based on volume of granular data and query pattern on year ago measures, you may create aggregate fact tables.
    hope this helps.

  • Bad performance due to the use of AGO and TO_DATE time series functions

    Hi all,
I'm building an OBI EE Project on top of a 1TB DW, and i'm facing major performance problems due to the use of the AGO and TO_DATE time series functions in some of the Metrics included on the reports. I discovered that when a report with one of those metrics is submited to the DB, the resulting query/explain plan is just awful!... Apparently OBI EE is asking the DB to send everything it needs to do the calculations itself. The CPU cost goes to the roof!
I've tried new indexes, updated statistics, MV's, but the result remains the same, i.e., if you happen to use AGO or TO_DATE in the report you'll get lousy query time...
Please advise, if you have come across the same problem.
    Thanks in advance.

    Nico,
Combining the solution to view the data in dense form (http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/bi_server/design/obiee_densification_design_preservation_dimension), and the use of the lag function (http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/presentation_service/obiee_period_to_period_lag_lead_function) appears to be the best solution for us.
    Thanks very much.

  • Time series functions are not working in OBIEE for ESSBASE data source

    Hi All,
I am facing a problem in OBIEE as I am getting error messages for measure columns with Time series functions(Ago,ToDate and PeriodRolling) in both RPD and Answers.
Error is "Target database does not support Ago operation".
But I am aware of OBIEE supports Time Series functions for Essbase data source.
using Hyperion 9.3.1 as data source and obiee 11.1.1.5.0 as reporting tool.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Aravind

    Hi,
is because the time series function are not supported for the framentation content, see the content of the oracle support:
The error occurs due to the fact the fragmented data sources are used on some Time series measures. Time series measures (i.e. AGO) are not supported on fragmented data sources.
Confirmation is documented in the following guide - Creating and Administering the Business Model and Mapping Layer in an Oracle BI Repository > Process of Creating and Administering Dimensions
Ago or ToDate functionality is not supported on fragmented logical table sources. For more information, refer to “About Time Series Conversion Functions” on page 197.

  • How to use Dynamic Time Series YTD on a calc script / member formula?

    Hi,
I activated Dynamic Time Series on Essbase and would like to use the YTD function of a measure for a certain month.
    I tried to use
    MeasureName->YTD(Dec)
    MeasureName->Y-T-D(Dec)
But couldn't use it to syntax problems. How can I call this function instead of using @Accum or @SumRange?
    Thank you
Edited by: Icebergue on 10/Ago/2011 11:07

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can use DTS members in calc scripts or member formulas. As you probably know, they can be used in Financial Reports, SmartView and Excel Add-in.
You can create an alternate hierarchy in your Time dimension though:
Jan (YTD): Jan ->Jan is being a shared member
Feb (YTD): Feb+Jan (YTD) ->Both Feb and Jan (YTD) are being a shared members
Dec (YTD): Dec+Nov (YTD) ->Both Dec and Nov (YTD) are being a shared members
    Cheers,
    Mehmet

  • YTD, MTD, YAGO, Function (Time-series Functions TODATE, AGO) Like OBIEE

    Dear BO Gurus,
I am a newbie to business object. I would like to ask are there any ready made time series functions which can be used in the BO Semantic layer (universe).
Like Year to Date, Year Ago. Functions like TODATE and AGO functions found in OBIEE semantic layer (siebel analytics). It was just simple there, I had to use the function on the semantic layer and BI server would raise the query to get the answer.
    The syntax was
    Todate(measure, time_dim_attribute)
    Ago(measure, Time_Dim_Attribute, period)
    Thanks & Regards
    Ishaq

    Dear Gurus,
There is no DB function in oracle to do this (AGO/TODATE).
OBIEE issues time-series queries, in the form of AGO and TODATE. AGO gives you, for example, the value of sales one month ago or one quarter ago, whilst TODATE gives you the total of sales month-to-date, or quarter-to-date, or year-to-date. Both of these time-series functions rely on the existence of a time dimension in your business model and mapping layer, with the period you can refer to in the AGO and TODATE functions being determined by what levels you have in this time dimension.
This eliminates the need to create and store complex time-based
    reporting tables.
I would only like to know does the universe designer has this sort of functionality which is present in OBIEE semantic layer. Or I need to create and store time-based reporting tables.
The question can best be answered by some-one has worked on both the BI platforms (OBIEE and BO).
    Thanks & Regards
    Ishaq

  • Combining Time series functions, is it possible?

    Hello
I have a requirement where I have to create time series measures. The Todate function and the ago function is pretty straightforward, however, it is required to also have last year Month to date, last year quarter to date measure, is it possible?
For example, for quantity sold measure, I have created MTD, YTD Quantity Sold and Year Ago Quantity Sold. Now when running report on for July 2010, we will get the total Quantity return between Jan to July of 2010, and based on that, it is required to also view the total Quantity Sold of the same period (Jan 2009 to July 2009)of 2009. Is it possible for this?
Another challenge i am dealing with is that if the current date is not the end of the month, let's say Oct 10th 2010. Since it has only been 1 week of Oct, they want to also get 2009's first week of Oct instead of the entire Oct of 2009. In this case, how is it implemented?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

it is required to also have last year Month to date, last year quarter to date measure, is it possible?Yes, possible with time series functions..
    for calculating prior ytd,
ToDate(Ago(measure, YearLevel, 1), YearLevel) last year Month to date:
try this(din't test, but give a try)
ToDate(Ago(measure, YearLevel, 1), MonthLevel)last year quarter to date:
ToDate(Ago(measure, YearLevel, 1), QuarterLevel)btw, need to close your threads if answered...

    Msum("Sales Measures".Dollars ,2) - "Sales Measures".Dollars

  • Time series functions in OBIEE

    Hi
    I am new to OBIEE.
In Report i want to use the AGO function to find the previous quarter revenue

how should i insert it in the function
    Syntax
    AGO(expr, [time_level], offset)

Once you have day dimension with checked for 'Time dimension'
you can see day dimension in rpd expression builder, once you select the function you'll choose each columns.
