Balance for open periods in a time series enabled cube

Hi,
We have a request to calculate balance for open periods in a time series enabled cube, I don’t there is any inbuilt function for this.
Any ideas on how to calculate this without adding new members/formulae in the time dimension. Currently we compute this in the report
EX:
BOY(May) = Jun+Jul + … + Dec

You will have to add a member somewhere. Suppose you add it in scenario, then you could use sumrange for the current member range offsetting the current monthe by 1 and use null for the end month wich gives you the last month in the time dim.

This T-code for opening period to company.
it means to plant reports will take every month.so we need to close plant transactions in every month ending.then only we will see the reports of every month of plant.
in MMPV we have to give company code and opening month name and press execute button.
this is the main uses and functions or MMPV.

Opening Balances for Previous Periods

Hi Experts,
There is a client requirement of entering opening balances for GL for previous periods before going live.
eg it is required to have OB for 2006,2007 and 2008 before live transactions are entered into the system.
Please enlighten on how to carry out this.

Hi Asap,
You could only have one OB for one account. If those OB for different years are for different accounts, it is ok. Otherwise, you have 2006 OB only. You may create JE to get something like OB for 2007 and 2008.

Can we Open Period at one time for all entity

Is it possible to open period for all the legal entities at single click like R12.
Any alternative?

Quick way: Press Ctrl+N (Cmd-N mac) to open a new Bridge window. Open the second folder there.
Not so quick way: Select menu File => New Window. Open the second folder there.
If you MUST view all of the files in one window, all of your files MUST be in folders nested within the same parent folder. In that case:
1) View the parent folder in bridge.
2) Open the Filter palette.
3) Click the microscopic button in the top left corner of the Filter palette, which looks like a folder with a "No" symbol on it. The tooltip label for that button is, "Click to view all items...".

ALternation hierachy for Period ROll DYnamic time series.

How it is to be build ?any insights that would help me to build in the planning application to build custom dynamic series capability.

Not sure if you can call it better, but I have developed the following alternate hierarchy at a client and it worked with no issues:
YTD(Jan): Jan (Shared Member)
YTD(Feb): YTD(Jan)+Feb (Both shared members)
YTD(Dec): YTD(Nov)+Dec
We didn't have a QTD hieararchy, but you can use the same logic.

SHared member is like a pointer to primary instance of member.that would be great if you can explain this what does both are share members mean?
and alos do these members needed to be set to dynamic ?

Web report for opening it takes long time how to reduce the time?

I created report using webi. For next time while opening it takes more time. How to reduce the time.

There could be multiple reason behind the bad performance.
1. Are you using supported JVM version to run Webi reports?
2. Do the reports contain prompts? Are the LOVs set to "Automatic refresh before use"? If yes, uncheck it.
3. How many queries do the report has? Can you run the queries one by one and check which query is taking much time?
4. If it based on relational database, copy and run it against the database directly and check how much time it takes. If more, you may have to fix the issue at database level like using temporary tables, indices, etc.
5. Also check if there are firewalls or proxy server between client and server communication. if yes, try to refresh the report directly on BO server and check.
6. Check if there is any hinderance between BO server and Database server communcation.

I need to take out GL balances only for the period 1st oct 08 to 31st Oct 08, profit centerwise. Which report in sap will give me this.
That is Debits Only for October and Credits only for Ocotber

From what you are describing here, it seems as though we may need to look into the network configuration. Here is an article named Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Troubleshooting playback performance that I feel has great information about troubleshooting these types of streaming issues and recommendations to optimize it. You can find the article here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3623. First a bit about the minimum requirements for streaming HD and SD content:
Broadband Internet connection
For the best viewing experience when renting or purchasing iTunes content on Apple TV, you need a broadband Internet connection. A sustained 8 Mbit/s or faster Internet connection is recommended for viewing 1080p high-definition movies and TV shows, 6 Mbit/s or faster is recommended for viewing 720p content, and 2.5 Mbit/s or faster for standard-definition content. ASO Time and Periods combined - Dynamic Time Series?

I am looking to do period-to-date calculations in ASO using the method outlined by Gary Crisci but I have Time and Periods combined into one heirarchy.
I have seen suggestions that this can be done, but I cannot find any example code for the calculations.
My MDX skills are not up to the challange yet so I was hoping someone is doing this and could shed some light.
I am exploring the options of hard-coded alternate heirarchies, but data is stored at the day level and users want
the same capability they have in BSO.

You can create the calculated members within the existing time dimension, but it get ugly and probably won't perform great. For starters you will have to create a calculated member with a formula for every stored time member you have. Not too bad for 12 months, but if you ahve years and months in same dim or daily model, its not realistic. That is the beauty of View dimension, a single formula goes a long way.
Other option is to not have alternate roll-ups in time dim - perhaps you can use Attribute dims to simulate the alternate groupings you need.

Table for open periods in MM

Is there any table that will show which periods in MM that are open for posting?
The periods I mean is the ones closed by transaction MMPV, but I want to see it in a table...and if you also know IMG path (if any) it would be good.

I have a csv file which contains booked order information, that I need to upload into oe_order base tables. In the file there will be order date, order no and distributor no. I need to do a validation to check the order date is in an open AR period before loading into base tables.

When you set the fnd_global.apps_initialize it will take care of arp_global. You can also initialize the record by using arp_global.INIT_GLOBAL(p_org_id).

Difference in Trial Balance & Legder report because Zeero opening balance appearing in Trial balance for some accounts

Hi Experts,
When I am generating System trial balance report, it shows null in opening balance column for some of accounts while ledger for respective accounts are showing correct figure of opening balance.
And because of this my trial balance showing wrong figures
Also, I have checked it through query report, it showing same opening balance figure as ledger report.
(Attachment for trial Bal, Ledger & Query reports for one of the account are attached here)
I have checked all selection criteria in Trial balance report, but nothing is working.
Please suggest me any solution for for above issue.

Hi Dirk,
Opening period is normaly used for carry forward rules, but you get this warning in currency conversion also.
You can set the parameters for Opening Period in the CATEGORY Dimension.
First Parameter is OPENING_PERIOD : if its blank it uses the last month of a year (=> DEC if you use calendar year)
Second Parameter is OPENING_YEAR: blank means previous year (same as inserting -1)
This means, if you calculate budget for the whole year or a month in 2009, Opening Period is 2008.DEC.
If you dont have any rates in Time = 2008.DEC;Category=Budget (for each of your specific rates) you will get this warning.
