Timeline play button

I'm making an animation program, and I'm having problems making the play button and the stop button. I have a slider bar that calls the interpolate function which does most of the work. What I need to do, is simply have a way to increment the slider bar value at a certain rate, like 10 frames per second to make the animation move, or play. I can't just have it loop once, as I need to be able to stop it with the stop button. I have looked at timers, but don't know how I could accomplish this with a timer. Could some one point me on the right track, I expect this would be an easy question for the people here. Thanks.

hi
i do not exactly understand what you want do. timers are not very accurate so you can not use them to create the frame rate. but you can use a timer to move the slide more or less synchronized. this can easy be done using the javax.swing.Timer
<snip>
Timer timer = new Timer(framerate, new ActionListener()
public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ev)
// code to setup the slider
timer.setRepeats(true);
timer.setCoalesce (false);
timer.start();
</snip>
and to stop the timer use
<snip>
timer.stop();
</snip>

  • I just downloaded Yosemite OS for mac and Premier pro play buttons don't work in the Program, Source and timeline and no audio HELP?

    Yosemite OS seem so not allow me to use premier pro. Specifically the play buttons don't work in the source, program and Timeline. Any one have this problem?

    Hey,
    I´ve got the same problem, that since i upgrade to Yosemite, my R3D Video Files are not longer supported, sometimes it works but most of time it says "not supported File format".. Hope Adobe will fix it.
    Play button works. Try installing the latest Java 8 update. This might fix some problems.

  • How to create a PLAY button in Encore CS5

    I have a premiere pro project which I imported to Encore thru Dynamic Link.
    How do I create a menu with a "play" button so that when burning it to DVD it won't play automatically.
    I also want to give the option to "replay" the video at the end of it and give the option to "exit".
    thanks,

    I apologize for my ignorance as I have no clue about overrides and how the timeline itself got an override.
    So, I will start over by deleting the menu and the chapter markers.
    I will create a new menu and make it "first play" and make the end action of the menu "stop".
    I will create new chapter markers on the timeline.
    I will then create buttons on the menu which I will link to each of the chapter markers.
    My intent is to have the user start at the Menu and watch all chapters consecutively unless he/she forward to the next chapter and continue watching the remaining chapters.
    At the end of the last chapter I want it to return to the menu.
    My questions:
    Do I have to worry about the end action of every single chapter or just the last one?
    Am I missing something?

  • Play Button/Space Bar not working. . .

    Hello. . . I'm having difficulty navigating through clips that are in my timeline. The play button is not working. I've tried trashing my preferences several times, to no avail. . . any help would be greatly appreciated.

    This issue has been observed before and can be due to an audio card  or tablet driver issue.
    Try Un enabling these drivers one by one in devices control.

  • Entire timeline plays smoothly; chapter playlist stutters regularly

    I have a DVD layout of NTSC widescreen footage with menus containing: (1) a "Play All" button which plays the full timeline and (2) "Scene Selection" buttons which play various chapter playlists from the same timeline.  The full timeline plays perfectly and smoothly throughout. When certain chapter playlists (even some containing only a single chapter) are selected, they play all the way through but they have about a quarter-second stutter (both audio & video freeze) in a regular pattern which occurs approximately every 16 seconds.  I have rebuilt the Encore project from scratch (except that each time I re-used the same encoded video produced by Premiere), but I keep getting the same stutter on the same chapter playlists but never on the exact same footage when it plays directly from the full timeline.
    Has anyone had this or a similar problem?  Any ideas?

    I appreciate your quick reply, but I’m just a bit puzzled by your answer.
    On the Edit Quality Presets menu, the Format options are

  • I can't link up the play button in Encore

    I just want one button, THE PLAY Button.
    The project has no errors and will allow a build.
    Then When I add a button It will not link.

    If you added a background, you must have a menu. So I'm going to assume you have the very basic question of how you link a button to a timeline. See screenshots.
    On the left is the project panel, with a menu, an asset (the video file with the .wmv extension), and a timeline. The middle panel is the menu viewer, where one of the buttons is selected. The right panel is the properties panel where you can see the properties of the selected object, here a button.
    In the first screenshot, the section for "Link" is empty. In the second screenshot, you can see that the "pickwhip" has been used to drag from the link to the timeline. (You link to a timeline, not to the asset.) In the third screenshot, you can see the button properties for link, now shows the timeline.

  • (CS3) Play Button vs. Enter Button on Remote Control

    Hello all-
    I'm hoping the answer to this is something so obvious I couldn't help but overlook it. However, after lots of searching I still can't figure it out. Any input would be great. Thanks!
    I have an Encore project with 1 menu, containing 1 button, pointing to 1 timeline. Very simple in nature. However, both in the virtual preview and on an authored disc, the remote control does not work as hoped. I find that I have to use the 'enter' button (usually between the up,down,left,right arrows) in order to play the track. The 'play' button does not work for some reason. I have the button set to auto activate so that it's selected upon the menu loading. But whether this is the case or not seems to have no bearing on the result.
    I unfortunately have to dumb it down as much as possible because some of the people seeing this won't think to hit 'enter'.
    Any help would be terrific. Thanks!
    Justin

    On menus, the Enter button is what is supposed to be pressed to activate a button. However, some players will also accept the Play button being pressed to activate the button. But not all players will activate a button when you press Play.
    For instance, I have a Sony that will accept Play to activate a button. But my Pioneer will not. And my Sony PS3 will not.

  • Play button no longer works

    I installed the 2014 version of CC and since then the play button (space bar) no longer works. Everything else seems to be working fine but I can't play my timeline. I can scrub through the footage but it won't play. Does anyone else have this issue / how can I fix it?

    Hi MicLove445,
    See if the solution in this post helps: Re: Premiere Pro CC 2014 won't play anything.

  • Can't play (preview) clips in event browser. Spacebar, play button, etc. will not work.

    I can't get any form of playback while accessing clips in the Events Browser. I'll highlite a clip, hit spacebar, and it refuses to play. I'll highlite a clip, hit the play button and still get nothing. The playhead sits there, whereas before I had no problem previewing clips in the events browser. I've tried to reset my preferences in FCPX, even downloaded a preference manager to trash corrupted files, but that still didn't do the trick.
    Is there a bug in 10.0.8 FCPX for playback? Anybody else have this problem? Its rather frustrating when I'm dealing with a lot of clips. I don't want to drag each individual file down into the timeline for playback...

    I've had this only a few times – all in earlier versions–and quitting/relaunching FCP cleared it up.
    What about JKL? Does that work?

  • How to control main timeline from buttons in a movieclip - job in jeopardy!

    I am trying to do a simple thing in theory. In my main timeline I have a series of images with frame labels for each. In a movieclip (with its own labels & script) below the images, I have two panels of butttons that flop back and forth (to save space). The idea is to simply have the main timeline play the frame specified by the corresponding button in the movieclip. I tried the parent.child thing but either im doing it wrong or that isnt the solution. If anyone can help me I will be saved from certain death. If you think any other part of my project may be to blame, Ill be happy to provide anything that can help. Thanks in advance.
    Here is my script:
    ActionScript Code:
    function on1click(evt:MouseEvent):void {
        gotoAndPlay("pic1");
    thumbPanel.pic1_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, on1click);
    this is the error:
    TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
    at gallery_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()

    The 1009 error indicates that one of the objects being targeted by your code is out of scope.  This could mean that the object....
    - is not in the display list
    - doesn't have an instance name (or the instance name is mispelled)
    - does not exist in the frame where that code is trying to talk to it
    - is animated into place but is not assigned instance names in every keyframe for it
    - is one of two or more consecutive keyframes of the same objects with no name assigned in the preceding frame(s).
    If you go into your Publish Settings Flash section and select the option to Permit debugging, your error message should have a line number following the frame number which will help you isolate which object is involved.

  • Splash Screen "Play" button Trouble

    I have a splash screen at the beginning of my animation.  When I push the play button, I want it to go straight to the animated map and start playing, but it just goes to the map and the user has to push play again.  How do I make it so the play button on the splash screen makes the map automatically start moving in the animation?

    How is all of this set up? Is the map animation on the main timeline or is this animation in its own movieClip? If the map animation is on the main timeline, how are navigating to that part of the movie? Are you using "gotoAndStop()" or "gotoAndPlay()" or something else?

  • Disable "Play"-button to open iTunes

    Hi,
    I want to disable (or reassign) the "Play"-button on the keyboard (Macbook Pro) and the middle button on the headphones to stop them from opening iTunes. Either by just disabling the buttons from opening iTunes or to reassign them to open Spotify instead.
    The media keys on the keyboard (play, forward, back) all work in Spotify as long as the application is running, if it's not the play button opens iTunes.
    The headphones middle button however opens iTunes even if Spotify is running.
    I've seen that there are a few scripts and hacks out there but none of these seems to work in Mavericks.
    Any ideas on how to fix this in Mavericks?

    Pigeon, you may access your button inside RDH_mc from your main timeline using dot syntax, so, instead of adding the eventListener to your close_btn on your RDH_mc timeline, try doing this in your main timeline instead:
    RDH_mc.close_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onExit); //this will access close_btn inside RDH_mc.
    function onExit(e:MouseEvent):void {
         removeChild(RDH_mc);
    Doing so you can get rid of that listener you're adding to RDH_mc directly.
    Hope it works!
    edit: oh, also, inside your openEvent1 function you have to addChild(RDH_mc) first and than play it.
    Note that inside your onClose function you're removing it but it seems you're not adding it anymore. That's probably why your button will work only once. The second time you try it, it's actually "playing" your movieClip, but you can't see it because it's not on the displaylist anymore (you removed it the first time you pressed the close button).
