Times Tables program - validation problem

Question

I am trying to validate an entry so that it only is between 1 - 12 (for times tables). Program is running but not working properly.
Here is code:

          int lines;
          char type;

          System.out.println("Please enter the times tables required (1 - 12)");
          Keyboard.skipLine();
          table = Keyboard.readInt();
          if (table < '1' || table > 12)
          System.out.print("Error - Invalid entry !! ");    // (C)  Error msg if invalid
        }while (table >= '1' || table <= 12);
}

Answer 1

use 1 and not '1'. The latter is a char with the value 31 I think.
