Tint2 opacity with panel_dock

Hi,
i've just installed openbox (again) to play around a little. I'm trying to get transparency working with no success.
I'm using pcmanfm to create my desktop and i've set a wallpaper with it - cairo-compmgr is doing the composite stuff right now.
Now i'd like to have a transparent tint2 panel and its working as long as i don't enable panel_dock. If i set it to true, my tint2 background
becomes black and the transparency is gone.
Any suggestions how to do it? Fake-transparency would be ok for me i guess, so i don't insist on cairo-compmgr.
Thank you
VR
EDIT: If i disable cair-compmgr i get transparency, but there is a 1px-line between tint2 and the desktop, is there a way to get rid of this border only? (osd.border.width will also remove general window borders)
EDIT2: Too simple, i've just had to uncheck the "window retain a border when undecorated" option in obconf/appearance. I think this is solved as long as i don't see any "annoying" things because of this - however, thanks

Not really but i usually don't use compositing at all because i think it will consume my battery faster (is that true btw.?).
I chose cairo because the wiki said there could occur some issues with xcompmgr and that it's kinda deprecated.
Currently i've set osd.border.width to 0 which removes the border of the dock but also the border of the
"desktop-switch-notifier" - this makes it kinda ugly but i don't see it that often, so as a workaround it will be ok.
I'll leave the thread unsolved for a day or two just in case someone has an real solution.

  • Color changes between CS2 and CS4 opacity with effects turned on

    Howdie.
I don't run into issues much with Photoshop, and this one has me stumped.
I needed to drop back to CS2 in order to use a warp mesh plugin.  I saved out a small portion of a file that I created in CS4 (Only containing the layer I needed to warp) and then opened that file in CS2, turned off all the effects (drop shadow, inner glow, bevel & emboss), and applied the mesh warp, then saved the file.  I went back into CS4 and re-opened it there and copied its layers into the bigger, original file.  What is strange is that the colors were a LOT lighter than they should be when compared to the original unwarped layer.  So in an attempt to figure out what was wrong, I checked all of my layer opacities, filter settings, layer mixing mode, etc. and everything was exactly the same.  I even tried deleting the layer style and copying the layer style from the original layer...no change.  I turn off the effects and check the color of the object and it reads the same as the original layer.  Both layers have no semi-transparency in the colors.  I turn the effects on and it is all whacked out.  After a while, I figured out that the problem was that the layer opacity in the effects, although reading the same between both layers (70%), is behaving as if it should be at 90% opacity in the new layer in order to match the original.  Its as if the layer worked on in CS2 has brought with it some corrupted info in its definition, that never leaves and affects any Effects you try to apply to it.
Has anyone experienced this one before?

A liitle bit more info here.  Apparently, the pixel data for the warped parts screws with the effect, Inner Glow, in the Choke and Size sliders.  The sliders simply quit functioning and have an abrupt light/dark toggle effect roughly near about value "7".
The only way I could fix the problem was to do this convoluted solution, since Duplicate Layer does not work.
        1.  Clear the effects on the problem layer.
        2.  At this point you can either work on the problem layer directly or duplicate it to create a work layer.  Doesn't really matter because both layers will get deleted later anyway.
        3.  With Channel Mixer, and for EACH color channel CMYK, move all 4 sliders hard left, so that the result is 0/0/0/0 for the CMYK values  (Do NOT use Brightness & Contrast in place of Channel Mixer because you will lose any blurred edges.  Also, using Channel Mixer does not swell or choke off the pixels along any "floating" shapes' edges).
        4.  With the selection tool, create two small selection boxs at two opposite corners of the entire layer.  Fill them with any color.
        5.  Select the entire layer (CNTL + A on a PC), and copy it to the clipboard.
        6.  Create a new Alpha channel and Paste.  The little boxs at the opposite corners of the file were needed to precisely position a copy of the layer when we Paste it into the new channel.  The contents of the channel must be exactly registered with where the original shapes were in the problem layer.
        7.  If you want, you can now delete the boxs in the corners of the channel by filling them with black.
        8.  Create a new layer and load the selection (the channel) we just created.
        9.  Fill it with the desired color.
        10.  Copy the desired effects from the original layer before warping was done and to the new layer we just created.
        11.  Delete the old problem layer.
        12.  Done.

  • How to change opacity with mouseover

I have a photo slider with Next/Previous arrows and dots at the bottom that represent each photo, how do I make them appear only when the mouse hovers over the photo slider? Im new and don't know coding, it was really hard trying to animate that in my timeline since arrows already have other animations on them

I believe that you can do that. Put your code in Stage/compositionReady.
if your image is called 'image' and your button is called 'nextButton'.
When you mouse enter on the image it will show the button and you mouse out it will hide the button. Use the same code for the back button.
    sym.$("image").bind('mouseenter',function(){
         sym.$('nextButton').animate({ 'opacity': 1.0}, 1000);});
    sym.$("image").bind('mouseleave',function(){
         sym.$('nextButton').animate({ 'opacity': 0.0}, 1000);});

  • Layer Opacity with Mozilla Firefox

On the website I am creating I have layers with a background
colour with a lower opacity, so that it is slightly transparent.
When I preview the page in Internet Explorer, it works ...
but I can't seem to get it to work for Mozilla Firefox.
Does anyone know how I can make it work for both?
    Thank you.
    Del Dalton.

Ok. I've given that a try, but I can't seem to get it right.
I'm using Dreamweaver MX. To do what I did orignally I just
created a CSS style ".layer1" and went to extensions, filters and
then selected 'Alpha(Opacity=?)' - changing the '?' to the value I
    wanted.
I'm not quite sure how, or where I can insert this
    '-moz-opacity: ?'.
If you can, could you insert it to the code below, and I will
    see if it works:

  • Flash object opacity with css?

So I have a .swf that I want to incorporate into a webpage. I
would like to have the .swf partially transparant so that text/an

  • Problem with opacity on my Mac

    Hi there,
I have some trouble with the opacity with my Mac. Since i bought it (january 2013), when I watch a video in full screen, in Quicktime or VLC, I saw in transparency the windows that I have in background (Safari, Mail or anything it's opened). It hapen also in InDesign, Illustrator, Apercu... In every software that is not a white window.
I don't know if i'm very clear and I don't know if it's visible on the screenshot here because when I open it, I saw in transparency my other windows...
Hope you can help me !
    Best Regards,

    Hi there,
Some news. I had a failing LCD screen and get some trouble with "ghost picture" on the screen : the picture used to stay on the screen. It's the reason why I thinked it was an opacity problem.
So my Mac was fixed and now it works very well !
    Problem solved,
    Thank you.

  • Opacity problems with exported movie

    Hi all
I'm having an issue with Motion 5. My project is 3046x1080 @ 30fps with a transparent canvas as a background and I have my timeline with about 5 clips all placed in seperate layers. All I'm trying to do is fade from one clip to the next so I first tried the 'Fade in/out' behaviour on each clip at 30 (I'm working at 30fps so this is 1 second?) and nothing appeared to happen on the canvas.  It was only once I had the fade in time up to 100 when I started to see any fading on the canvas.  I tried an export to quicktime as a test, but all the clips that had a fade in didn't fade in at all the just cut.  So, I then went in and set all the fades manually - adjusting the opacity with keyframes only to have the same result as before.
The exported movie does retain the transparent background however - Motion just seems to be ignoring the opacity levels I've set.  The only alternative I have found is to copy all my content across to my other machine and use Motion 4 - but that cripples that machine, certainly at this resolution I"m working at! Fortunately the clip I'm working on is only 30 seconds long....
Anyone got any ideas? I've searched the board but haven't found anything...
    Many thanks

Thanks for the reply!  I had checked to make sure everything was lined up but I double checked and indeed the fade in/out behaviour were indeed lined up to the clip.  The export was also set to Colour + Alpha.
Upon further testing, as I don't really want to endure working at this resolution in Motion4, I've found my error - I didn't have the premultiplied Alpha enabled - I seem to remember I had a problem with that in the past hence turning it off.
So that appears to have solved my problem.....

  • Gnome with tint2 panel??

i was trying to figure out how to kill the gnome-panels and replace with tint2 along with trayer for at least one of the panels. i started to incorporate some of openbox into gnome. but any real detail info on how to do
i tried one method thru the gconf but that almost killed my gnome. anyhow ideas would be appreciated.

... but, if you want to get rid of the window manager (replacing it with openbox) and of the panel, perhaps you can consider to drop gnome as a DE, continuing to use all the gnome apps you like and need in an openbox environment

    ;; from http://code.google.com/p/tint2/wiki/Configure
;; panel_dock = boolean (0 or 1) : Put tint2 into the window managers dock. For the openbox window manager I can advise to use also a modifier for the moveButton option, otherwise ;; the mouse click is not forwarded to tint2 (in ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml).

  • Workflow and problems with labels

    Hello!
I've been testing out some things in Edge and I've noticed a few things that I've been trying to find some documentation and information about, I would greatly appreciate any enlightenment on the following observations:
Frame labels do not work for me - both with files created from scratch in Edge and ones made of existing HTML + CSS files. I tried the in app lesson on looping the counter and the 'Play from (loop)' doesn't work, I thought it might have been because of an error in the instructions telling users to play from a frame label that exists at the same point in the timeline where there is a 'stop' trigger but even offsetting the 'loop' label would not work. The final sample file works as intended when previewed.
I tried a few tests with new files consisting of really basic stuff - one symbol with an 'on-click' > play from (go/start/in/one/etc) and another symbol simply animated on the x and y axis with an animation to the opacity with a stop trigger placed on the timeline and tested with the play from label placed both at the same time as the stop trigger and offset after the trigger - neither works it has no effect when clicked. (I know about what scripts to do on completion to get it to play from the start) Interestingly play from (milliseconds*) *0.125/1001/2000000 etc does work for me but this is not ideal as it is far more useful to be able to play from labels.
Animating existing HTML - I've got a simple html page set up consisting of a container div with a number of other divs inside which I have been animating in Edge. The Edge file is set up so the container CSS overflow is hidden. Now can someone please clarify if the following method of workflow is a mistake on my part, limitation in HTML+DOM, bugs in edge or combination/none of those things?
Workflow - bring in the html file to edge do simple animated opacity etc on the various elements start adding keyframes and labels etc - the label problems as above.  Now my intent is to have each of the div's in the container be clicked on and bring in the next one - in the same place in the viewport. I've noticed that when changing various elements visibility after tweaking animation to look good and then subsiquently setting on-off keyframes for visibility it would suddenly cause all elements lower in the DOM to move position and suddenly have what looked like keyframes for y axis position/transform? Is this bad practice to use the on-off visibility for elements? It meant that what should be a really simple and quick 10 second animation took about 3 hours to make, should we be not using the on-off keyframes for showing/hiding buttons that are in divs that sit on top of each other? Should i set up z-index values for all elements in the CSS files? (I saw a reference to you can assign z-index values in the 'elements' panel but I can only see 'arrange' - is this a different term for z-index?)
I'm a long time user of flash, maya, after effects, digital fusion, combustion, and many other timeline based software tools - it is fairly intuitive to me picking up new systems but the issues with on-off visibility and keyframes below in the timeline really was a very frustrating workflow. I'm used to changing and editing the whole animation on the timeline seeing what works and doesn't - deleting layers, changing timings etc, i found this way of working really slow due to changes to elements position when ones above in the flow were turned on or off. Please do suggest what I should change in my approach to using edge as compared to other animation tools as it looked great on preview but I'm a bit frustrated in using the release. Is this a bug in my release?
Where is the help and reference files for Edge? - is this screen shot it? -
I can't find any info on basic definitions of the tools and options anywhere, and can't find much on anything to do with using edge in production with existing HTML documents, please send me some links if you have them. I've seen the edge javascript API thing but is there anything else?
    Cheers.
Here is the approximate code of the page for reference - I actually got the file working in the end but using 'play from (miliseconds)' instead of play from (label) and much frustration slowly editing the timeline and elements visible/hidden status and redoing animation on elements below in the timeline to get them placed correctly.

    Hi,
I wonder if it's related to the multilingual capability of BPM Object presentations.
    Could you:
    1. right mouse click the project in the Project Navigator tab.
    2. click "Project Preferences"
    3. click "Languages"
Do you see multiple languages? Is English (or whatever language you're using inside Studio) the default?
When you log into the WorkSpace, could you double check the language you are using (log in -> click "Settings" in the upper right corner) -> with the "Display" tab selected, is the language you chose as the default in Studio selected?
I suspect the reason you see some but not all of the labels is because you have defined some of those labels in the language selected in the Workspace. You can add the addtional labels for the various languages you want to support if you:
    1. Open a presentation
    2. Click one of the labels
    3. In the properties tab on the right, click the field beside the "Display" property
    4. Click the button with the "..." on the right side of this field
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • Help with drop-in text animation

    Hi Folks,
I'm trying to create a specific text animation, but I'm having a little difficulty.  I'd like to have the text drop in in a random order into its final spot.  I can get close using the text drop-in animation, but I'd really like the 'source' of the text dropping in to be from a single point.  Picture a watering can pouring the letters out and they randomly fall into their correct spot in a phrase. The default look of the drop-in animation is that each character drops from its corresponding spot in the phrase. I've played with changing the tracking, using the 'before' setting and managed to squeeze the space that the text is dropping from, but that causes the letter to appear to move after they've already landed.  You can see a rough draft here:  http://www.c2-it.com/clients/a/textdrop.mov
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get closer to what I'm looking for?
    Thanks,
    CJ

Todd, thanks for the reference to the tutorials.  They helped me understand a little more how the animators work.
Mylenium, I'm still a little confused on your approach.  I've got the base text layer and added an animator for opacity.  I set it for random and that works fine, the letters randomly appear and complete the phrase.  For the 'pouring in' part, I added a second text layer and animated the position property, but the text still originates from its original place in the phrase.  I can't get it to originate from a single point.  Also, I'm not even sure I understood about using multiple selectors for the 1st layer.  Just using the animator for opacity with a random setting seems to provide the correct 'ending' of the animation.
    Thanks Again,
    CJ

  • Problem with Alpha Channel

The top level track on my project contains an alpha channel. However, being the top level track the tracks below it are invisible.
I have read the "Compositing, alpha channels, and adjusting clip opacity" page. It tells me that I "can choose how to interpret the alpha channel in a file in the Interpret Footage dialog box. Choose Invert Alpha Channel to swap areas of opacity with areas of transparency, or choose Ignore Alpha Channel to not use the alpha channel information at all."
However, when I do this (ie. inverse the alpha channel in the asset) I get the following before and after results:
Summary of goal: I want to adjust the transparency of the top track so that the lower tracks appear.
    Help.

If you want to adjust the transparency of a clip, you modify its Opacity property.
Changing the alpha channel properties in the Interpret Footage settings is for when the alpha channel of an asset is not being interpreted/used correctly by the application.

  • How can I create drop shadows with PSE10

How can I create drop shadows with PSE10 & PE10?

Layer styles let you quickly apply effects to an entire layer. In the Effects panel, you can view a variety of predefined layer styles and apply a style with just a click of the mouse.
Three different layer styles applied to text
The boundaries of the effect are automatically updated when you edit that layer. For example, if you apply a drop shadow style to a text layer, the shadow changes automatically when you edit the text.
Layer styles are cumulative, which means that you can create a complex effect by applying multiple styles to a layer. You can apply one style from each style library per layer. You can also change a layer’s style settings to adjust the final result.
When you apply a style to a layer, a style icon appears to the right of the layer’s name in the Layers panel. Layer styles are linked to the layer contents. When you move or edit the contents of the layer, the effects are modified correspondingly.
Once you choose Layer > Layer Style > Style Settings, you can edit the settings of a layer’s style or apply other style settings or attributes available in the dialog box.
Lighting Angle Specifies the lighting angle at which the effect is applied to the layer.
    Drop Shadow
Specifies the distance of a drop shadow from the layer’s content. You can also set the size and opacity with the sliders.
Outer Glow Size Specifies the size of a glow that emanates from the outside edges of the layer’s content. You can also set the opacity with the slider.
Inner Glow Size Specifies the size of a glow that emanates from the inside edges of the layer’s content. You can also set the opacity with the slider.
Bevel Size Specifies the size of beveling along the inside edges of the layer’s content.
Bevel Direction Specifies the direction of the bevel, either up or down.
Stroke Size Specifies the size of the stroke.
Stroke Opacity Specifies the opacity of the stroke.

  • CS5: Live update with sliders?

I'm one of the users experiencing the hangs in Photoshop CS5. Im curious if this is standard (new) behavior or a symptom of the other issues on my system.
When I adjust something, for example layer opacity, with the slider, the document doesn't update until after I let go of the slider. This forces me to move, release, move, release, move, release, etc. In CS4 is see a live update as I drag a slider, no need to release to see how it looks.
    Common or just me?
    Thanks!

Well I quit CS4. Launched CS5 - System hang. Managed to Force Quit CS5. Relaunched CS5, started testing with shape layers.. system hang. Eventually hard rebooted.
Launched CS5, hid all panels except the Layers and Tools panel. In addition, I moved Layers panel to main monitor. Wow.. what a difference. It's snappier than ever. Hit the Type tool.. waited ~5 minutes then everything was back to normal.. But I know the story behind that. I'm also getting live updates with sliders now, but they aren't smooth. Sort of a bit of a jerk before the update happens, but I don't need to release to see the update, just wait half a second.
I think you're on the right track. Hiding all the other panels seems to have helped immensely. I'll test more with panels, seeing what I can get away with and what I can't.

  • Tint2 virtual desktop thumbnail?

Is anyone aware of a method to have a four virtual desktops side by side horizontally in the tool bar for easy access to all desktops? Something like this [ ][ ][ ][ ] as I've seen on xfce4 and such.

Search the wiki (and/or pacman) for a utility called a "pager."  Tint2 comes with something built-in iirc but I don't recall if it's an actual pager or just a tray utility.  Check the wiki for that.
There are a lot of pagers so look at screenshots and the wiki for information.  Alternatively, look at the screenshot thread for pagers people are using.
