Tmboot fails started by a Sun Cluster Agent (Data Service)

Hi,
we are using TUXEDO 6.5 in conjunction with ADC's Singl.eView.
Starting TUXEDO by calling tmboot -y works fine in the command prompt.
Starting TUXEDO within a Sun Cluster Agent, which internaly calls tmboot -y as
well, fails with the foolowing error messages:

Patch #232, CR041488 seems to address this:
GWTDOMAIN connection problem when maxfiles kernel parm set > 32K
Perhaps the Cluster Agent sets a higher ulimit when it runs.
See if you are running the latest patch.

  • Apache with PHP Fails to Validate in Sun Cluster

    Greetings,
I have Sun Cluster 3.2u2 running with two nodes and have Apache 2.2.11 running successfully in failover mode on shared storage. However, I just installed PHP 5.2.10 and added the line "LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so" to httpd.conf. I am now getting "Command {/global/data/local/apache/bin/apachectl configtest >/dev/null 2>&1} failed: httpd cannot parse httpd.conf, Failed to validate configuration." when I try to start the resource. I can start Apache just fine outside of the cluster, and when I run configtest manually, it replies "Syntax OK".
Anyone have any ideas why the Cluster software doesn't like the PHP module even though configtest passes with Syntax OK?
    Many thanks,
    Tim

Found it. Sun Cluster was apparently smart enough to know I was missing the correct PHP AddType lines in httpd.conf.

  • Cluster of Data Service servers on multiple operating system

    Hi All,
Does Data Service support deployments in different OS  but in one cluster?
    E.g.
One server in Windows and one server in Unix but connecting to same repository to form a cluster?
    Thanks,
    Bobby

YES, jobservers from different OS's can connect to the same repository.
YES, these jobservers from different OS's can be in the same servergroup (I guess that is what you mean with "cluster") for load balancing & failover.

  • Netegrity SiteMinder Agent on a Sun Cluster

    Salut!
I have some doubts on how to run the Netegrity SiteMinder Agent on my Sun Cluster. Easiest solution would presumably be to run the Agent as a service on each of the physical cluster nodes.
The application now can be accessed by the physical IP address/DNS-entry of the current cluster node, and the virtual one of the resource group. The users will access it by the virtual one. Now I somehow have to ensure that the agent watches the virtual one, too. Can this be configured? Takes DNS care of that (most likely not)?
Or do I have to integrate the agent in the cluster software itself?
    Has anybody done that before?
    Thanks for your help,
    greetings,
    Martin

  • DS6 in a zone on a Sun Cluster

I have a sun cluster that I am trying to configure and I don't know if I am trying to do something wrong, so I thought I would ask.
I am using Sun Cluster 3.2 on a pair of Sun T2000s with a Fiber Channel disk array attached to both nodes. I have configured the disk array to have two file systems. One for each server. I have configured two resource groups in the global zone and setup a HAStoragePlus resource for each file system. I am successfully able to fail the file systems between the two nodes. On each of the file systems I have installed a zone. The zone is managed with the resource type provided by the SUNWsczone package to start and stop the zone. The resource is in the same resource group has the HAStoragePlus resource.
At this point I have created resource group for the zone to manage the directory server. After creating the resource group I am trying to create a resource for the directory service HA service. When I use the clresource command it complains that the resource group does not contain a logical hostname. When using the services provided by the SUNWsczone package I created a logical hostname that is being assigned to the zone in question. Is there a way to install the Directory Server HA resource into the resource group for the zone?

  • TimesTen database in Sun Cluster environment

    Hi,
Currently we have our application together with the TimesTen database installed at the customer on two different nodes (running on Sun Solaris 10). The second node acts as a backup to provide failover functionality, although right now only manual failover is supported.
We are now looking into a hot-standby / high availability solution using Sun Cluster software. As understood from the documentation, applications can be 'plugged-in' to the Sun Cluster using Agents to monitor the application. Sun Cluster Agents should be already available for certain applications such as:
    # MySQL
    # Oracle 9i, 10g (HA and RAC)
    # Oracle 9iAS Application Server
    # PostgreSQL
    (See http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/cluster/faq.jsp#q_19)
Our question is whether Sun Cluster Agents are already (freely) available for TimesTen? If so, where to find them. If not, should we write a specific Agent separately for TimesTen or handle database problems from the application.
Does someone have any experience using TimesTen in a Sun Cluster environment?
    Thanks in advance!

Yes, we use 2-way replication, but we don't use cache connect. The replication is created like this on both servers:
    create replication MYDB.REPSCHEME
    element SERVER01_DS datastore
    master MYDB on "SERVER01_REP"
    transmit nondurable
    subscriber MYDB on "SERVER02_REP"
    element SERVER02_DS datastore
    master MYDB on "SERVER02_REP"
    transmit nondurable
    subscriber MYDB on "SERVER01_REP"
    store MYDB on "SERVER01_REP"
    port 16004
    failthreshold 500
    store MYDB on "SERVER02_REP"
    port 16004
    failthreshold 500
The application runs on SERVER01 and is standby on SERVER02. If an invalid state is detected in the application, the application on SERVER01 is stopped and the application on SERVER02 is started.
In addition to this, we want to fail over if the database on the SERVER01 is in invalid state. What should we have monitored by the Clustering Agent to detect an invalid state in TT?

  • Wrong hostname setting after Sun Cluster failover

    Hi Gurus,
our PI system has been setup to fail over in a sun cluster with a virtual hostname s280m (primary host s280 secondary host s281)

Please note that the PI system is transparent about the Failover system used.
When you configure the parameters against the mentioned note, this means that in case one of the nodes is down, the load will be sent to another system under the same Web Dispatcher/Load Balancer.
When using the Solaris failover solution, it covers the whole environment, including the web dispatcher, database and all nodes.
Therefore, please check the configuration as per the page below, which talks specifically about the Solaris failover solution for SAP usage:

  • Sun Cluster 3.0 MQ Series 5.2 configuration

    Hi All,
we have to review MQ Series installation/configuration on 2 solaris 8 Clustered with Sun Cluster 3.0 machines. The present configuration has a global filesystem /var/mqm with one queue manager.
According to Sun Cluster 3.1 dataservice for websphere MQ(5.3 ndr) there are 2 ways of filesystem layout
FFS: with local qmgrs (data and log) at each cluster node
GFS: with global filesystem qmgrs (data and log).
Are there any special consideration about shmem and ipc directories in <qmgr>/data?
Does this scenario also apply to 3.0 /5.2 ?
Does FFS configuration allow persistant messages failover at takeover?
Are there any dataservices/docs available for MQ on 3.0?
    Thanks in advance.

To deploy multiple qmgrs requires /var/mqm to be mounted as a GFS. The reason for this is to overcome IPC key clashes. The recommended file system layout is as follows -> represents a symlink, assuming two qmgrs - qmgr1 & qmgr2
Using FFS (recommended - /local/mqm etc.. are mounted as FFS with /etc/vfstab)
    /var/mqm -> /global/mqm
    /global/mqm/qmgrs/qmgr1 -> /local/mqm/qmgr/qmgr1
    /global/mqm/qmgrs/qmgr2 -> /local/mqm/qmgr/qmgr2
    /global/mqm/log/qmgr1 -> /local/mqm/log/qmgr1
    /global/mqm/log/qmgr2 -> /local/mqm/log/qmgr2
Using GFS (mainly early SC3.0 as HAStoragePlus wasn't available until later on)
All mounted as GFS with /etc/vfstab
    /var/mqm -> /global/mqm
    /global/mqm/qmgrs/qmgr1
    /global/mqm/qmgrs/qmgr2
    /global/mqm/log/qmgr1
    /global/mqm/log/qmgr2
Finally, FFS (Failover File System) is recommend because, at present, whenever GFS is used for the qmgr & log files, MQ Series is unable to determine that the qmgr may have been started on another node. e.g. Assuming GFS, and MQ Series is started on Node A, it is possible (but don't do it) to start MQ Series on Node B.
The Sun Cluster Agent provides some protection against this. Instead it's recommened to deploy FFS as above.
The agent for WebSphere MQ for SC 3.1 is available and supported on SC3.0 update 3 as well as SC3.1. There is also a patch available for the WebSphere MQ Agent which deals with IPC cleanup, for single or multiple qmgrs.
Docs available can be found at
http://docs.sun.com/db/prod/7192#hic - Just select Sun Cluster Data Service for WebSphere MQ
Finally, the above scenario also applies to SC3.0/5.2 as well as SC3.1/5.3 and either GFS/FFS allow for persistant messages to be available after a failover.
    Regards
    Neil

  • Sun Cluster and SMF

    Folks,
Did you come across any products, who SMFied their product and how it impacts their cluster installations ?. Please provide details if you have any
    Thanks mUch
    _D

Since I am currently not aware of third party products shipping an SMF service for their application (which does not mean much, ie. they could well exist) I just make two generic statements:
    1) If for that application a standard Sun Cluster agent exists, then the instructions for installing this data service would include to disable the SMF on the cluster nodes (like on pre Solaris 10 systems the legacy runlevel script would need to get deactivated).
    2) If for that application no standard Sun Cluster agent exists, then one would have the ability to leverage the new proxy SMF resource types coming with Sun Cluster 3.2. They would use the SMF manifest to start and stop the application. Note that by using this resource type you would not have any application fault monitoring.
Details to 2) can be found at

  • Sun Cluster 3.1 Failover Resource without Logical Hostname

Maybe it could sound strange, but I'd need to create a failover service without any network resource in use (or at least with a dependency on a logical hostname created in a different resource-group).
Does anybody know how to do that?

Well, you don't really NEED a LogicalHostname in a RG. So, i guess i am not understanding
    the question.
Is there an application agent which demands to have a network resource in the RG? Sometimes
the VALIDATE method of such agents refuses to work if there is no network resource in
    the RG.
If so, tell us a bit more about the application. Is this GDS based and generated by
Sun Cluster Agent Builder? The Agent Builder has a option of "non Network Aware", if you
select that while building you app, it ought to work without a network resource in the RG.
But maybe i should back up and ask the more basic question of exactly what is REQUIRING
    you to create a LogicalHostname?

  • Sun Cluster and DS6 within zones

It is possible to configure the sun cluster agent for cluster 3.1/ 3.2 in a DS6.0 zone?
    It's supported?
    thank you.

Sun Cluster 3.1 u4 does support Zones for failover but as a blackbox ie failover of the complete zone.
I am not sure this will interact well with DS 6 Cluster Agent.
DS 6.0 has it's own Agent (SUNW.ds6ldap delivered in the SUNWldap-directory-ha package).
This package is available with JavaES 5 as part of the Cluster Agents bundle.
Now with regards to the documentation of the DS cluster agent and its use, unfortunately the only documentation is what I posted on my blog early March : <http://blogs.sun.com/Ludo/entry/directory_server_6_ha_with>

  • Sun Cluster failed to switchover

    Hi,
I have configured two node sun cluster and was working fine all these days.
Since yesterday, i am unable to failover the cluster to second node.
instead, resources are stopped and started again on the first node.
when i use the command "scswitch -z -g oracle_failover_rg -h MFIN-SOL02" in first node I am getting these messages on the console
    Sep 28 17:53:16 MFIN-SOL01 ip: [ID 678092 kern.notice] TCP_IOC_ABORT_CONN: local = 010.010.007.120:0, remote = 000.000.000.00
    0:0, start = -2, end = 6
    Sep 28 17:53:16 MFIN-SOL01 ip: [ID 302654 kern.notice] TCP_IOC_ABORT_CONN: aborted 0 connection
Pl. suggest me to solve this problem.

Those messages aren't important here. I think that might be related to the fault monitor being stopped.
As I said in the previous post, you need to diagnose this bit by bit. Try the procedure manually, i.e. stop Oracle on node 1, manually switch-over the disks and storage to node 2, mount the file system, bring up the logical address, start the database.
I expect there is something wrong with your configuration, e.g. incorrect listener configuration.
There is also a way of increasing the debug level for the Oracle agent. This is documented in the manuals IIRC.
    Regards,
    Tim

kindly help to resolve the issue.
    Regards,

Thanks unable to resolve the issue.
Please see below are my setup:
    Database tier:
    Sun cluster 3.2u3
    oracle EBS 12.1.3
Two node sun cluster active node a1 and passive b1.
    Application Tier:
    App01
I want to move concurrent manager from appo1 to database tier what I did below was my action plan.
step-1 cloned application(app01) to DB on primary host and enabled only batch processing and other all disabled using same virtual host as we have same defined virtual host for database resource group LH (vhost)
the problem is when I start CM it started but immediately stop when I cloned again with physical host
CM is started and working fine but I need anyone to tell me how can i start manually and move to CM resource sun cluster.
Question: Can I choose same LR host for application or I need to put physical name of the primary node during cloning process as I said same we are using LR host for DB tier or need to add new virtual host for CM.
    thanks
    Regards,
