To Attach Documents of diff Types(.doc, .pdf) thru Bex Queries to Elements

Hello,
The user needs to save the Documents, other than text type(for eg. .doc, .pdf, .xls etc) thru Queries in Bex/Web for the Info-objects etc. in the Query, in the same way as he is able to do thru RSA1->Docuemnts.
For the moment the user can create/edit Text documents only thru the "Additional Function->Create new Document". How do we give the provision that user can store file of any type.
Thanks and Regards,
Sumita

  • Problems with attached documents in Mail and Docs To Go

    Hello everybody.
    I've found a problem with attached documents in Mail. In fact, if I click on attached documents with .doc (microsoft office word 97-2004) and files in .docx Office Open .xml, the iPad doesn't open them, also if I click in "Open with Docs To Go (which should support these files' format)".
    How can I do? There's an application or another way to open these files?
    Other Informations:
    Docs To Go version: 5.2.2

    Update the patch to the Sapgui.

  • Uploading External Documents (*.doc, *.pdf, *.html) using JSP, Servlets, JDBC

    I would like to upload external documents to an Oracle 8.16 db without using agents or interMedia.
    Documents can range from *.doc, *.pdf, *.html and so forth. Ive been all over OTN and all I keep finding are examples on uploading Audio, Video or Image data - which is fine.. but damn, can we get a couple "Real World" examples in there?
    Im even looking at iWorkplace which is excellent.. but a little out of my league when it comes to uploading external documents. But that's exactly what Id like to do. The documentation on this issue is very scarce - Please help.
    Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Many Thanks in Advance.

    Is anyone having problems loading text files using this routine? I can load a file with this, but even though the table contains a CLOB, the file is uploaded as binary and one only sees a series of question marks when looking at the CLOB. So, basically, the file appears to be converted somehow from text to binary. Any thoughts? I'm using 8.1.6.0.0 on Sun Solaris 2.7. character set in the database is UTF8.
    Thanks.

    Steps you need to follow are:
    1. Create a table to hold the documents
    CREATE TABLE XML_DOCUMENTS (
    DOCNAME VARCHAR2(200) NOT NULL,
    XMLDOC CLOB,
    TIMESTAMP DATE
    2. Create a directory
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY bfile_dir AS /private1/LOB/files;
    3. Grant READ privileges on the directory to the appropriate user
    GRANT READ on bfile_dir to SCOTT;
    4. Create a procedure
    CREATE PROCEDURE insertXmlFile( dir VARCHAR2,
    file VARCHAR2,
    name VARCHAR2 := NULL) IS
    theBFile BFILE;
    theCLob CLOB;
    theDocName VARCHAR2(200) := NVL(name,file);
    BEGIN
    -- (1) Insert a new row into xml_documents with an empty CLOB, and
    -- (2) Retrieve the empty CLOB into a variable with RETURNING..INTO
    INSERT INTO xml_documents(docname,xmldoc) VALUES(theDocName,empty_clob())
    RETURNING xmldoc INTO theCLob;
    -- (3) Get a BFile handle to the external file
    theBFile := BFileName(dir,file);
    -- (4) Open the file
    dbms_lob.fileOpen(theBFile);
    -- (5) Copy the contents of the BFile into the empty CLOB
    dbms_lob.loadFromFile(dest_lob => theCLob,
    src_lob => theBFile,
    amount => dbms_lob.getLength(theBFile));
    -- (6) Close the file and commit
    dbms_lob.fileClose(theBFile);
    COMMIT;
    END;
    5. Execute the procedure
    INSERTXMLFILE('bfile_dir', filename, 'description');
    Good Luck!

  • Fm or method for converting  doc,pdf or text  files to binary format

    Hello,
    Are you aware of any function module or method which takes input as a file of type doc, pdf or text files and convert it to binary format? Kindly let me know.
    This is what i tried and was unsuccessful.
    i tried using gui_upload method and pass " asc" as file type while importing file of type .doc but it returns me string filled with strange characters.
    I did try converting this string to xstring using  cl_proxy_service=>cstring2xstring but i realized my 1st step of uploading file itself was wrong.
    Please let me know what can be done if you are aware of how to convert file of various types to binary.
    thanks
    Pooja

    hi All,
    thanks alot for the information and help provided by all of you.
    I did figure out a way where the word document or pdf  can be pretty much loaded with gui_upload. the file type used in the method would be "BIN" the following thing has to be done. declare data type as given below and file would be the complete path along with document name which has to be uploaded
    DATA: BEGIN OF res_line,
                raw(255) TYPE x,
             END   OF res_line.
      DATA: res_tab LIKE res_line OCCURS 0 WITH HEADER LINE.
    data :  wf_var_stringx TYPE xstring .
      CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_UPLOAD'
          EXPORTING
            filename                =  file
            filetype                = 'BIN'
            read_by_line            = 'X'
         has_field_separator     = ' '
         header_length           = 0
         header_line           = 'X'
          IMPORTING
            filelength              = l_filelength
          TABLES
            data_tab                = res_tab
          EXCEPTIONS
           OTHERS                  = 1.
    LOOP AT res_tab .
        CONCATENATE wf_var_stringx res_tab-raw INTO wf_var_stringx IN BYTE MODE.
      ENDLOOP.
    this will upload the file and will file the string x with its content.
    hope this helps to some of you.
    Thanks
    Pooja

  • Attached document in pdf & saving information on it..

    Is it possible to save data on the attachment document within a pdf ( I use a button action/link set to open the "attachment doc" )??
    I need to be able to open click on the button to have the credit application open... allow users to fill it out and close it to get back to the main document (order form) and then use the submit button to send it all...
    Whenever I fill in the information on the attached doc and close it... one I lose the information when I reopen and two it closes the whole document...
    Can anyone help on this~
    Thanks so much!

    Thank you... you are saying add the credit application as the last pages in the original pdf, correct?
    That will probably not be what the boss wants, as I already pitched it to him.
    I am not knowledgeable of the fdf and xfdf ... so I will have to read up on that.
    I did try to do a tester using fdf as my choice in document type, but it did not work.  I would submit via email, but the document could not open and gave me an error.
    appreciate the suggestion and will read up on the different formats you suggested.

  • Oracle Text - Problem with filtering binary documents (.doc, .pdf, etc...)

    Hi, I have a problem with filtering binary documents (.doc, .pdf, etc...). I use SQL*PLUS for remote access to Oracle 10.2 on Linux and I create table:
    CREATE TABLE test (id NUMBER PRIMARY KEY, text VARCHAR2(100));
    I insert to this table:
    INSERT into test values(1, 'PATH/text1.doc‘);
    INSERT into test values(2,'PATH/text2.doc‘);
    and then:
    CREATE INDEX test_index ON test(text) indextype is ctxsys.context
    parameters (’datastore ctxsys.file_datastore
    filter ctxsys.auto_filter’);
    Message "Index created" is displayed, but objects: DR$test_index$I, DR$test_index$K, DR$test_index$N, DR$test_index$R and DR$test_index$P are empty => index wasn´t created probably.
    I don´t know, where is bug, either bug is somewhere in this code or on the server (wrong installation oracle or constraint privileges). Do you know in what is bug?

    The following is an excerpt from the 10g online documentation. Note the items that I have put in bold.
    "FILE_DATASTORE
    The FILE_DATASTORE type is used for text stored in files accessed through the local file system.
    Note:
    FILE_DATASTORE may not work with certain types of remote mounted file systems.
    FILE_DATASTORE has the following attribute(s):
    Table 2-4 FILE_DATASTORE Attributes
    Attribute Attribute Value
    path path1:path2:pathn
    path
    Specify the full directory path name of the files stored externally in a file system. When you specify the full directory path as such, you need only include file names in your text column.
    You can specify multiple paths for path, with each path separated by a colon (:) on UNIX and semicolon(;) on Windows. File names are stored in the text column in the text table.
    If you do not specify a path for external files with this attribute, Oracle Text requires that the path be included in the file names stored in the text column.
    PATH Attribute Limitations
    The PATH attribute has the following limitations:
    If you specify a PATH attribute, you can only use a simple filename in the indexed column. You cannot combine the PATH attribute with a path as part of the filename. If the files exist in multiple folders or directories, you must leave the PATH attribute unset, and include the full file name, with PATH, in the indexed column.
    On Windows systems, the files must be located on a local drive. They cannot be on a remote drive, whether the remote drive is mapped to a local drive letter."
    With accessible paths and files, you get something like:
    SCOTT@orcl_11g> CREATE TABLE test (id NUMBER PRIMARY KEY, text VARCHAR2(100));
    Table created.
    SCOTT@orcl_11g>

      2  parameters ('datastore ctxsys.file_datastore

    Index created.
    SCOTT@orcl_11g>
    SCOTT@orcl_11g> select count(*) from dr$test_index$i
      2  /
      COUNT(*)
           608
    SCOTT@orcl_11g> In the following, I used a non-existent path and non-existent file name, which produces the same results as when you use a remote path that does not exist locally.
    SCOTT@orcl_11g> CREATE TABLE test (id NUMBER PRIMARY KEY, text VARCHAR2(100));
    Table created.
    SCOTT@orcl_11g>
    SCOTT@orcl_11g>
    SCOTT@orcl_11g> INSERT into test values(3,'c:\nosuchpath\nosuchfile.pdf');
    1 row created.

  • I have OSX Maverick on an iMac using Outlook e-mail.  PDF attachments are included in the e-mail  as the whole document rather than just the PDF icon.  How can i have just the PDF icon as an attachment?

    In Outlook my PDF attachments appear as whole documents and not just the PDF icon.  How can I have attachments included as PDF icons and not the documents?

    For your own viewing, you can of course control-click on the attachment and select "View as Icon".
    For others' viewing, it depends upon their email reader.  To ensure that attachments are not displayed expicitly you can put them all in a zip file (via control click and "Compress") then attaching them, or you can use third party stuff like Attachment Tamer.

    It's difficult to do more than guess when you don't say what version of OS X or Pages you're running, but if you're on the latest, have you tried the Share menu -> Send via Mail command?
    If that doesn't help, you may have better luck if you ask in the Pages forum:
    Pages
    When you repost, be sure to include full details about your versions so that people know what it is you're working with.

  • How to count FI documents according to its doc type?

    Hello everybody,
    The following posting is about ways to count FI documents according to its doc type, company code and year.
    At first, I was said that there is the table NRIV, wich gives the info when set with the 'object' parameter RF_BELEG. From this extract I can get the number of the last FI doc posted according to its CC, doc type and year. However, I am still missing the info when the doc type is 'external'. Could you see a solution?
    Thanks!
    Stan B

    hi Stan,
    go to SE16, enter BKPF, enter the document type you want to know (and company code and fiscal year and whatever) and click on Number of entries.
    hope this helps
