To calculate the percentiles of a data column

Hello!
I want to calculate the percentile 25 and 75 or (25%, 75%) of a data colum's. There is some labview block to calculate it. Someone knows somw way to calculate using another statistical labview block and then obtain the values i want.

convert the column into an array of numbers, sort the array, take the size of the array and divide by 4, this gives you the index of the first quartile, x2 is the second quartile, x3 is the third.

Using Oracle 11gR2 on windows 7 client. I have a question on calculating sum() on multiple columns on different columns and store the results in a view. Unfortunately I could not post the problem here as it keeps on giving error "Sorry, this content is not allowed", without telling where or what it is!      yr, mnth, region;I wouldn't recommend storing your data for year / month in 2 columns like that unless you have a really good reason. I would store it as a date column and add a check constraint to ensure that the date is always the first of the month, then format it out as you wish to the client.

Is it possible to extend the title of a "DATE" column?

Hi I have made a table;
SQL> SELECT * FROM BookCopy;
BCID BTID DATEACQUI DATEDESTR
120 9 09-FEB-06
But the title is meant to say "DATEACQUIRED" but it only says "DATEACQUI"
Does anyone know if it is possible to extend the title without using VARCHAR, thanks

In SQL*Plus, you can set the width of a DATE column the same way you do it for a VARCHAR2.

Calculate the Difference Between two dates excluding weekends and Holidays

Hi,
We need to calculate the difference between the two dates by excluding the Local public holidays (It is global and varies across countries) and weekends should not be included in calculation for a business day in OBIEE.
We have two dates: Open date and close date when ever close date is null we are calculating age based on taking the current timestamp and need to exclude the weekends and Holidays when ever the close date is null.
Ex:
Col1 col2 Total
11/9/2010 2:46:38 PM Null 13
11/2/2010 8:06:26 PM 11/3/2010 5:37:03 PM 1
(In the Total we shouldn't include the weekends,holidays)
Please let me know how to calculate the difference between two dates by excluding the weekends and holidays.

A fair point, I should really have posted this on the SQL forum (I'm new to the forum as well as PL/SQL) but thanks for responding anyway. It does raise a question as to how to implement this in ApEx though.
I have created the function and am calling it as shown below from the source window of a form. The source type is 'PL/SQL expression or function' and the expression in the source window of the form is:
calc_date_difference (:p26_c_payment, :p26_c_rec)
The two parameters being passed are of type date but I'm not sure how to handle the ruturned number and populate the form in ApEx with this value.
Is it possible to do it this way or am I taking completely the wrong approach?

How to calculate the total of a calculated column in a list view at the end of the view?

I have a view with the following columns ProductName, Quantity, Price, Total The total column is a calculated column which is the product of quantity and price. I want to place the sum of the total column by the end of the list view. I can do this with
the price and quantity but not with the total column. how do I do this?

How can i change the Format of my DATE column?

I need to change the date format for a whole column. At present i can do MM-DD-YYYY. I need to change this this to DD-MMM-YYYY.
I know about the to_date function, i tried to apply it to change the format of my whole column by doing the following.....

I am aware that the to_date function is supposed to be used to change strings into a certain format. I guess this means you cant do it with columns? Is there anyway i can format the whole column or do i have to do each string of data entered one by one?

I'm not sure you hit the right forum, as this doesn't seem to be a problem with APEX.
Anyway:
You can't use that function on a table like that, and as you already suggested, the to_date-function expects a string value.
It seems you also have a misunderstanding of the basic datatypes in the database. DATE is such a datatype and is stored an internal format you don't need to care about. Each time your request the value, the database will give you a string representation according to either your locale or you give a certain formatting mask.
The same applies to insert or update operations: you hand in either a variable of type DATE or use a function like to_date to create an "object" of type date.

So to answer your question: You would format it as part of your insert operation, taking a string and convert it using to_date.

I am trying to get the month from a date field with the help of calculated column. However I get this syntax error whenever I want to submit the formula:

I have created two columns
Current MM-YY
Calculated (calculation based on other columns)
Today
Date and Time
Current MM-YY is calculated value with formula as
=TEXT(Today,"mmmm")
But the output shows as December instead of May.
I have tried =TEXT([Datum, von];"mmmm") but no help.
I am trying to populated the column automatically with current month..ex: if its May the field should show May, next month it should show June an so on.

What's the difference between "Received" & "Date" columns?

The entries in TB's "Received" and "Date" columns re usually the same; when they differ it's by no more than a few minutes. I'm wondering, what do these columns show exactly? Why do we need these two categories? It obviously has something to do with header lines, but I haven't been able to track this down.

what meanings does it make. how can you compare a date to day count. Or is the inetger value an offset ie say 2 days from today etc?
