To delete trash messages with expire.rule

Hi,
With Messagin server 6.0 I have put this rule in:
/opt/SUNWmsgsr/config/store.expirerule
Rule2.regexp: 1
Rule2.folderpattern: user/.*/trash
Rule2.messagedays: 1
So It must delete all messages in users trash folder older than 1 day.
Is this correct?
imexpire is runnig ad 11 p.m by default:
local.schedule.expire = "0 23 * * * /opt/SUNWmsgsr/sbin/imexpire
Do I have to run some other process?

It doesn't matter what character I use because no one works.
Any of this rules doesn't expire messages wich subject is "All for your PC"

I have used all possible combinations in the folderpattern but no one expire messages.
But if I change the line
Rule1.Subject: All for your PC by Rule1.messagedays: 5
it works right so the problem seems not to be really the folder pattern but the line
Rule1.Subject
This line doesn't work and I certainly know that there are messages with this subject. I have tried the line:
Rule1.Subject: All for your PC
and doesn't work too.

Mail crashes and cannot delete outgoing message with large attachment

Tried to send an email with too large an attachment. Now it is stuck in Outgoing Mail. I cannot delete it. It just causes the spinning ball and then eventually mail crashes. I need a way to delete the outgoing message. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try this:
1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/.
3. Locate Outbox.mbox and move it to the Trash.
4. Open Mail. A new (empty) Outbox.mbox will be created automatically.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

If there is no backup, there is nothing to recover the message from.
You might check to see if your carrier can provide the message, but it would never appear on your device again.

settings-->mail -->account --> advanced --> under deleted message Remove --> after one day
under delete from server --> never

How to delete individual messages in iOS 7 when it is auto detected as a phone number?

Hi, in iOS 7, in messages, individual messages can be deleted by holding that particular message and then selecting more to show up the thrash bin icon.
But my problem is i want to delete a message with only numbers in it. The only options available after pressing and holding the message are:
"Call 1234567"
"Send Message"
"add to contacts"
"Copy"
"cancel"
I discovered that i can do a round about method by holding another message to select the "more" option i mentioned earlier and then "tick" the message with the numbers to be deleted. But what happens when all the messages are in numbers only?! That means I need to either create 1 more message or get the person to send me another message before I do the round about method.
In the first place, doing the round about method is already quite stupid...
Can anyone advise? Thanks.

Oh yeah, now I remember that.
But I also remember that you had to go all the way to the start of the message to gain access to the current contact information. Where as in iOS7 that button you mentioned is the contact information. Personally I perfer iOS7. I don't delete my messages, so this is better for me.
However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to add an Edit button in that sub menu that shows up when you touch the upper right button. Currently there are opitions for "Phone", "FaceTime" and "Information" on the contact.

Deleting error messages in ABAP stack and JAVA stack

found some useful answers here about deleting messages
which are successfully delivered!
What I miss is an answer about:
a) Error messages in RWB
In Component monitoring -> Archiving you can plan a job to delete messages in status "successful" or "Cancelled with errors".
To cancel jobs you have to do this one by one. With reaction time from page manual cancellation needs hours for 100 messages (Ok, there is a multiple selection button you can use to tag per list screen!).
Now I have lots of message here
- System error
- to be delivered
- cancelled with errors (from system, special case, see next question)
ready to be erased (yes, sure about that!)
Is this the only way here to proceed?
Other question: looks like there is a default time frame for the job which looks like it is more than two months for "successful". "Cancelled with errors" is only deleted from list when reaching this status with the available button "Cancel" but not for messages with status "Cancelled with errors" set by the system.
Any chance to change that time frame.
And what about the messages "Cancelled...." by the system?
b) ABAP stack
OK, delete job is running. But looks like there is a default time frame "delete older than 2 months" (different from a! where it is more than 2 months)
I tried to delete some error messages with function "Cancel message with errors".
Now these messages are cancelled in SXMB_MONI (displayed with different status sign "Pencil").
Starting deletion job has no effect on them. Why? Because they are cancelled today and are not considered by the time frame of the deletion job?
Any help is appreciated!
(This tool is confusing me more and more! )

i think there is no solution in standard settings:
so this is simple and feasable solution for your requriment.
let it me any contract at the back end it will be supported with PROGRAMS AND USER EXITS, right.
that is what i have asked to give the information to solve your question.
please catch the message and double click take the message number and go to SE91 and give the message and execute or display.
it will take you to the messsage screen and with its number.
select it and goto where used list.
there you will find I or W informatin or warning mesage
tell your ABAPER to convert it to E - error message with expired contract.
hope this clears this issue.

I have created other rules to move some of my daily messages into specific folders and I don't wish to auto-delete those.
Just the general stuff that keeps piling up in my me.com main email box. Mail such as FB announcements and other low priority stuff I want to look at before deleting but don't want to keep longer than a week or month.

Thanks, but I am looking for a more automated solution than hand marking emails as junk. I might as well move them to the trash myself.
Again, these are emails I want to receive and quickly read, but not keep longer than a week or month or so. By setting a rule to toss any older than 30 days back then my Mail program (and thus my hard drive) won't be wasting so much space. For example, currently I have over 6000 read messages, with their attachments, in my main email box. I'd rather not have to physically attend to sorting the one I don't want out.
The one I do keep for other reasons get moved into other folders.
It seems this should be possible.

Check out the documentation on "expire". Since I don't know what version Messaging server you're running, how can I point you to the right documentation?
Both Messaging 5.2 and 6.2 have a way to automatically expire messages.

I'm working with Netscape Messaging Server 4.15p7, but I wil update it to IMS 5.2 in a few months. I need define 2 types of expiration rules. One rule for VIP users and other rules for default users.
The VIP's users mail never expire. Default's users mail expire if it's 180 days old.

I read in Admin Guide:
"If you specify more than one rule for a mailbox, all expiration rules will apply,
but the most restrictive rule takes precedence."
Hence, the default expiration rule (most restrictive) will delete all the mail ?. How do I resolve this problem?

PUt your vip rule "exclusive". Early versions of 4.15 ignored that, but p7 should be fine.

How to dequeue/delete/remove a message with delay?

I've enqueued a message with dbms_aq.enqueue
using
l_message_properties.delay := 24*60*60*x
where x is calculated so that the message should normally be dequeued on a given date, but not before next midnight. So that if nothing happens, the message can be consumed by another system in the right time. But now, when "something happens", i'd like to cancel the message, to delete it from the queue, as if it weren't there

msgid => right_msgid
gives ORA-25228: timeout or end-of-fetch during message dequeue from MY_QUEUE, although documentation says delay is not considered when msgid is given.
Is there a way to remove this message - should i update the delay date to null and try to dequeue the message? Or can i just delete from the queue table? Or is there a nicer way how things should be done?
(soon going from 9.2.0.6 => 10.2.0.3)

thank you very much for your response.
I am (very) new to AQ. And from your response it seems i have to get used to some new concepts. Can you please confirm.
A service will be ended .. say 30. september. The decision is made today, on sept 18. I send it right away to AQ for other systems to be consumed, and put the delay date 01 october, so they will receive the message just in time. And ... everything is fine until some one changes its mind and decides (before 01 october) that "no, this service will not be ended". Now i need to cancel the message in AQ. So that the other systems will not be notified about the end of the service. And you say i can't. And, i can't set the expire date at enqueue time, because it is not known, whether the ending of the service will be cancelled or not ( and 99.9% it will not be cancelled, it is a very rare exception. But happens sometimes. Everybody makes mistakes).
Now, do i have to make my own queue table, log all the ending services there, delete from that table when ending is cancelled and make a job frequently scanning that table to transport all ended dates to the original AQ for other systems to read and consume? Ok, i see, i can make this just another queue, but this one i'll consume myself, and the consuming from this queue means to check whether the actual end date on the service is in place, and when it is, put it to original queue, else just ignore. Right? I have to make two queues (on the same structure) to make this work?
What does the "Only messages in the READY state are dequeued unless a msgid is specified." mean then (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96587/qopface.htm#63943)? I do read it in the way that when a msgid is specified, i can dequeue a message even when it's not ready?

Mail crashes on message with bad HTML. How to delete or fix ?

Hello all,
I've got a strange problem with Mail crashing when reading a particular message that appears to have some bad HTML. Here's the story:
I received an email conatining HTML. Mail displays the message just fine, but when I try to navigate away from the message (to the next message for example), Mail crashes. Anything I do after reading the message causes Mail to crash. I can't delete the message or move it to another folder without a crash.
The worst part is that everytime I restart Mail it defaults to displaying this message -- so now it is stuck in a loop !
I have deleted the message from the mail server (through webmail) so it has not affected Mail on my other computers, but I need to figure out how to delete it locally from this one. I dug around in the ~\Library\Mail folder and I can see the files for this account, but I can't figure out how to delete this particular message without deleting ALL my other messages -- I've got older mail that I still want to keep.
How can I manually delete this individual message, without removing everything else ?
Is there another way to "reset" Mail so it doesn't default to this message every time ? Maybe then I could delete it from within Mail.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I hope a future update to Mail will fix this HTML problem. The same pages crashes Safari too....

Hello John.
You can launch Mail holding the Shift key down until the main window appears to prevent it from selecting any mailboxes or loading any messages upon start up.
And there are at least three ways to select a message and delete it without displaying its contents:
(1) You can hide the preview pane by dragging the separator bar between the message list and the preview pane to the bottom of the window, or by just double-clicking within the separator bar, so that the preview pane disappears and only the message list is visible. To make the preview pane visible again, drag the separator bar up from the bottom of the window, or just double-click on the separator bar again.
(2) If you select the message with the mouse, the message is displayed in the preview pane when the mouse button is released, not when it’s pressed. This allows you to drag the message to the Trash or to any other mailbox without Mail trying to display its contents.
(3) Ctrl-clicking on a message causes a contextual menu to appear, from which you can usually (but not always, don’t ask me why) choose Delete or Move To, before the contents of the message are displayed in the preview pane.
