To Get List of network printer

Hi
I am using forms 9i,and i want reports output directly to selected printer.
right now i have hard coded
desname='\\neeraj\epson';
and only one printer can be used for that report.
i want in forms to get all list of printers
from user end.
(if possible only that users all printer);
as in any other application when print command is given
it states to select printer.
Please suggest me.
thanks

Patrick,
its true that Jinitiator would have to support Java 1.4 if you wanted to use the new printing services. A list of printer names can be obtained in Java 1.2 by calling
java.awt.print.PrinterJob pjob = java.awt.print.PrinterJob.getPrinterJob()
The name of printers available on a client can be obtain from the pjob instance. This however doesn't give you the network address of the printer but only its name. However, mainatining a table of printer access paths in a database table should be easy. At least you know without user printer registratiom, which printer is configured for a user.
In Java 1.1, in case you have to use older APIs, the same information can be obtained from the Java Toolkit.
Another option, that is similar to hpw orarrp works, is to request the Reports from a Java Bean and to stream the Reports output file (say PDF) to a temporary file on teh client. Call the client host print command to print ethe file (or Acrobat Reader for PDF files). After printing the file, clean up the temporary files.

Try running your printer's install program again.  Changes are when you replaced the router, the printer's IP address changed.

  • Can't get to a network printer on XP thru Windows 7

I have network ptinter (Laserjet P2015) that is hardwired to a computer that is running XP.  I got a new laptop with Windows 7 and it is on the network, when I go to add the printer to the new laptop I get a message that says that it cannot locate the driver. When I go to hp.com to download the driver it indicates that it is already on the computer. If I connect the printer to the new laptop using an USB it works fine.  The laptop with Windows 7 can see and print fine thru the network to a C7200 that is also hard wired to the computer with XP.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Yustas,
Great, that makes sense now.  You can not add a DNS name (\\ComputerName\...)  to the list of "grey" folders listed under the "My Computer" node in the tree view of the NAVIGATOR.  Any external folders officially mapped by Windows such that they have a drive letter (T: or Z will automatically show up in the list of "grey" folders.
You can add a DNS path to a folder when you create a new "yellow" Search Area under the "Search Areas" node in the tree view of the NAVIGATOR.  My recommendation would be to add any folders you want to load data from on these remote computers as Search Areas.  This will also give you the ability to look inside those data files without loading them and easily load selected channels, get curve previews, etc.

  • Cannot Print to HP Network Printer

I'm trying to print from my MacBook to my HP LaserJet 4000N printer which is connected to a 2wire wireless router. I had no issues setting the printer up with my Windows computers using the HP Install Network Printer Wizard, but the wizard doesn't work with Mac OS. So I did a little digging and found the printer IP Address by printing out the Configuration Page, but inputting that IP Address into the add printer utility using LPD, IPP, or HP Jetdirect yields no results. I've also tried using the Gutenprint drivers for my printer with all combinations with no results. I never expected that adding a network printer for Macs would be more difficult than Windows! Anyone have any ideas or experience getting an HP Network printer to work?

Okay, that's unusual. Didn't think this model would use a proprietary language?
Anyway, I found a driver on the HP site for this model for OS X. Here's the link:

  • Tried both ways in the Wiki, still can't get network printing work

    Hi,
I have tried both the client and server ways following the Wiki, still could not get network printing work.
For the first way, I tried to put either the host name or the ip address (starting with 192) of the remote printer into /etc/cups/client.conf. But both Okular and Evince failed to see the printer in the dialog.
For the second way, with cups-browsed running, it only managed to discover printers in my local network (ip starting with 137) which I have no access. I tried to manually add the printer using its ip, but it still did not work.
What can I do? I have spent hours trying to work it out but failed. I would appreciate a lot your help. Thanks.

  • Can't get WRT45G to network w/ HP C5180 scanner/printer

When I press the "scan to computer" option on the device I receive error "network connection error". If I attempt to scan from within HP solution center I get error "unexpected error has occurred". I am able to scan from within the web interface to the printer at http://hpec5967.
If I go to settings->network settings within the solution center, everything appears to be normal and working properly. If i go to settings->status within the solution center it says "hp Photosmart disconnected". I am also able to print from the computer with no problems.
I have taken the following steps:
--Uninstalled and reinstalled the software multiple times
--Ensured that no software firewalls on my computer were interfering with communications
--Familiarized myself with this document and attempted to forward all the ports listed to both my computer and device IP. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00654095#lc=en#cc=us#dlc=en#product=1153481#rule=41508#lang=en
--Updated my router firmware (Linksys WRT45G) and ensured that everything was working properly from that standpoint.
--Downloaded the diagnostic program for this product and ensured I have all green check marks
The two interesting things about this issue are that
    1. I can scan properly from the scanner to my computer using the application within the web interface
    2. I can print properly
Any suggestions?Message Edited by scdavis0 on 03-06-200711:17 PM

Hi… You are able to print and scan from that printer/ scanner because it is a network printer/scanner that works on IP addresses. Where windows’ level sharing is on the NetBIOS/ Workgroup (names) based. So there is something wrong in the nomenclature of the computers and workgroups. The thump rule this is the PC/devices names should be unique and workgroup should be common to all. Just check these settings on all the computers.

  • Unable to get LaserJet M175nw to print over network

I have just installed a new LaserJet 100 Pro M175nw printer on my network. However I am unable to get it to print via the network.
The printer is connected to a ethernet cable and configured with a static IP address on the network
I am using a Windows 7 computer for printing
All internal functions of the printer work correctly e.g. copy, reports
Printing works when connected via USB to a computer
When using the printer via the network:
    Scanning works correctly
The embedded web mangement page for the printer works correctly
The HP Print & Scan Doctor diagnostics give the configuration all green ticks
Print jobs stay in the print queue until they change to an error status.
The printer does not seem to recognise the print job at all - no progress message indicating printing document on the console
If the printer is in sleep mode it does not wake up
Test print pages from the HP Installer, from the Windows Printer Property dialog, from Acrobat Reader and from MS Word all fail.
All symptoms remain the same when I turn off the Windows Firewall
Another HP LaserJet 2605dn printer on the network prints correctly on a different IP address but also using the RAW format on port 9100.
I have removed all drivers for other HP printers in case there was a conflict - no change after re-installing the software.
Can anyone suggest what I might have overlooked?  Thanks for your help.
    This question was solved.

I am confused by your last statement, a TCP/IP is a network connection, which is why the universal print driver is suggested.
From what you have described, there is an issue with the print queue. Try running the Print and Scan Doctor :
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03286146
Also, I am not sure if you tried the PCL6 driver or not, but I would like you to at least try it so that I know what its behavior is.
Let me know how that goes and I will get right back with you!

I have an HP LaserJet 8150N that I use for my work and I have had this printer for ever and it is one heck of a work horse! I am trying to get it connected via ethernet cable directly to my iMac. I always had this printer connected via a network so I don't know if I am able to connect directly with a cable since it is a network printer. I have tried to reconfigure the printer using the JetDirect menu giving it a new IP address but still no luck. If anyone could help me through this issue I would appreciate it.

Second, seeing "connecting" and connection failed is normal. You must click on "Connect As" in the Finder window and then enter the username and password for the admin account on the other computer. That should fix things.
    Thanks for responding.
When does clicking on "Connect As" happen in the process above?
    After step six? Seven?
    After the connection has failed?
Is this the FInder window that shows the icon of the computer you want to copy the file from?
You should see "Connect As" in the Finder near the top right of the window as shown below:

See if the iPad will accept the password after you restart it. It's worth a try.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You could also try a reset as well.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Can't get WiFi network printing

    hey there all,
i recently swapped out my AXg base station for the new AEBSn. i have 2 H-P printers; 1 an HP Photosmart(circa late 2006) directly connected to my DP G5. the other, a PSC(circa mid 2004) was connected to my AXg. my problem is that now w/ the PSC connnected to the AEBSn USB port, it acts as though it is connecting & starting to print, but it does 1 line then quits. i've done all the things suggested in the Airport help as well as from H-P's website.
i've dl'd & reinstalled the driver, turned things off/on, unplugged/re-plugged all to no avail. so far i can get printing from 2 of my other Macs(a MacBook & a 17" iMac CD) from the PSC, but only by having the PSC printer connected via USB through a hub to the DP G5 & used as a shared printer, but neither can see/connect to the Photosmart even though it appear as option in the Print Dialog. i need to have the Photosmart as the default/shared printer on the DP G5 & the PSC as the AEBS/WiFi network printer. this is the way things were setup w/ the AXg, but if they were even reveresd, w/ the Photosmart as the WiFi network printer & the PSC as the default/shared printer on the DP G5 that would work. also, i can not get the other Macs on my network to connect to the Photosmart to print & i can't get my 17" iMac G4 to connect to either printer. i'll keep plugging away w/ trying the "Help" in the meantime as i really need to be able to print to @ least 1 printer from all the Macs. anyone w/ more thoughts or ideas than those available in Airport Help will be greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

I am having the same problem. I have two HP photosmart printers, 7700 and 7900 series. They both worked before over the old airport extreme. Now, neither work over the new airport extreme. They act like the are starting to print and then stop. Can someone resolve this problem. They main reason I upgraded was to support multiple printers on the network. Now I don't even have one.

  • Getting List of Hosts on Network via Terminal

Is there a way to scan the network and report back a list of network servers?
I specifically need Samba servers, but it would be great to find all servers, including the UPnP servers on the network.
I read up on smbclient but it seems you need to know the host name/ip beforehand when using that command.
    TIA!

You could also ping your broadcast address then look at your arp table (remove the n option to lookup host names):
    <pre style="border: 1px solid #ddd; padding-left: .75ex; padding-top: .25em; padding-bottom: .25em; margin-top: .5em; margin-bottom: .5em; margin-left: 1ex; max-width: 80ex; overflow: auto; font-size: 10px; font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; color: #444; background: #eee; line-height: normal">ping -c2 `ifconfig | awk '/broadcast/{print $NF; exit}'` 2>&1 >/dev/null; arp -na</pre>

  • How to get Network Printing to work with Brother!!

So i have my BROTHER DCP-7020 printer connected to my Windows machine and i've been sharing the printer on the network with my old iMac 24' which prints perfectly. Now i have the 27' imac and i have no idea why it won't do printing via network, plugging in USB works fine, i've installed the driver but it doesn't look like it did anything. It just worked on my 24' without any hassle, it gets detected in the "Printer Settings" automatically and i dont recall doing anything to get it to work before.
Can anyone give me some tips of why it won't print and what I need to do in order to get network printing to work on my new Mac?

I cannot get the LED light on. The card works fine because I am using XP right now.
I installed both the bcm43xx and the bm43 firmware in an attempt to get it working. Could one or the other be causing a conflict?
When I tried to modprobe either of the two I get something like "invalid operation."
    When I do
    b43-fwcutter -w "/lib/firmware/" wl_apsta_mimo.o
it gives me an error saying the input doesn't exist.
edit: Could I get this moved to the wireless section?
