To ground or not to ground?

Looking for suggestions...
I just bought an AirPort Express. Loving it. Now, I was wondering if I should get an adapter to ground it or not. I hear a lot of potential side effects of grounding the AirPort in regards to its ability to relay sound through the stereo (i.e. grounding = interference). At the same time, if I understand correctly, not grounding it leaves it vulnerable to surges and spikes in my household electrical scheme and therefore permiting it to potentially short.
Is my reasoning correct? What have others done?

Sorry, I can see nothing now on the phone...

  • Back Ground Job not showing in SM50,

    Hi Friends,
I am running XK99 to Mass update Vendor details in Back ground, I am getting some error while running the job in back ground, I would like debugg the issue.
But in SM50  Iam not able to see the job I sechduled using program MASSBACK or transaction XK99.
Please let me know, what could be the problem.
    Thanks,
    Veerendra.

    Hi,
Try this - goto SM37 select the background job and enter JDBG in the command field (similar to entering /h to debug).
    Cheers.

  • Scheduled back ground job not finishing

hie gurus, i need your help with back ground scheduling , i have created a background schedule to run my program after every 30min .  in the job overview it shows my job released and active but its not finishing processing . the program being run picks up data from an external data base and then inserting via BDC call transaction. i have tried with a different program that inserts data into a database table and its executing and finishing well in the back ground. What could be the problem ? and how can i debug a back ground job ??

    Daniel,
To start, BDCs are very out-dated.  I would look for a BAPI if you are calling std SAP functionality.
Also - direct updates into std SAP tables is a HUGE "no-no"... I hope that you are updating custom tables only.
    Pass that - to debug a b/g job--->
    1) Set a breakpoint in your program
    2) select the job in SM37
    3) enter JDBG into the SAP fastpath of the SM37 screen and press ENTER
This will navigate you into a b/g debug - you can then press the debugger buttons to move to your breakpoint.
    Hope that helps.

  • Back Ground Job not Working

    Hi,
I have watched all the threads regarding Back Ground job like SE36 & SE37. I have given a back ground job and its not working.
Its an ABAP Program which is creating an OLEDB Connection to MSACCESS and then retrieving and updating database table. The program is working very fine on foreground but when it is given to back ground job then it shows that the program is running, i mean in delay the time is ticking. But at last it is canceled by the system.
What's the thing i am missing or what should i do here? I have already set my program at high priority.
    Thanks.

    Hi Atish,
Are you sure that we cannot run in background? Can you please explain me why it cant be done.
    Thanks,
    Inder.

  • Snap object to ground plane not showing in 3D menu

I seem to be missing the "Snap Object To Ground Plane" menu item in the 3D menu.  This recently happened and I don't know how to get it back.  Any help would be appreciated.

Actually, I never noticed that. But it's not the one I am looking for, since it's not drawing shadows on the plane.
Here is where I am talking about, in the 3D window:
Perhaps I am missing something else, since you were able to show me that which I never saw before. Thank you.

  • Ground Plane NOT Available

Okay. So I have built a 3D text object in PS CS5. I've pretty much got it where I want it and it seems to be snapping to the "ground". The only issue is that I cannot view the ground plane because my button is greyed out.
Now, before I go too much further, I will explain what I have:
    Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
    Core i7 920
    12GB RAM (EVo GeiL)
    ATi Radeon 4850 Dual DVi
OpenGL is running and selected in Performance
RAM is set to almost 8GB in Performance settings
Now, from what I read, this was initially an issue with OpenGL not either running or being the wrong version. That's not the case here. I have looked for the answer but have still found nothing that will assist in the cloud. So I am hoping someone here knows how I can get the Ground Plane to show up, or at least have the button un-greyed.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Why would a rented movie work on the ground but not in the air?

This is the craziest thing.  I rented a movie from my MacBook Pro and then transferred it to my iPad 2 for a flight.  However once I got on the plane each time I tried to open it I received a message that the movie could not be opened.  OK.  I figured I made a mistake in the transfer.  Once I got home I tried to open the movie again (in Airplane mode, just to be sure) and it loaded right up.  I didn't press play since I was leaving on another flight in two days.  Got on the flight and had the exact same problem.  Once I landed I tried it again and it loaded right up, but I didn't hit play because I have another flight on Friday.  What are the odds it will occur three times in a row?  I have 20 days left on the rental and about six more flights.  This could be fun.
To lend a little irony to the situation the movie is "Up In The Air".  Anyone have any clue what the heck is going on?  The only variable among the two instances is that in the air I had headphones plugged in, but on the ground I didn't.

    Hi Dominique:
First-if your mac can control the camera but not see the video,
    *Open Garageband
    *Play a note or two
    *Close Garageband
    *Open iMovie
    The camera will work now-REALLY!!
    If not, look here:

  • Back ground job not finshing

hie gurus , i need help . i created a background job to run my program which creates material via bdc call transaction.
the job runs every 30min , how ever its not finishing processing and the program is not creating material and restarts after 30 min again so i now have a list of active jobs that are not finishing in the job overview. how ever if i run through debugger using JDBG the program runs through with no errors. any 1 have an idea as to what the problem could be.

    Hi Daniel,
As your job is a periodic job, the selection screen probably doesn't contain the data to process, so your jdbg test is not the same as the real one. So I suggest you to save the BDC data each time, so that to be able to reprocess manually the buggy ones. Before the CALL TRANSACTION, save data into a cluster database table for example (EXPORT TO DATABASE), delete it if the CALL TRANSACTION is successful. When one job is taking too much time, get the saved BDC data, and process it again.
You may also have a look to SM50 transaction to see if the system is performing a long SQL query.

  • Colored back ground link not showing

Web site has  an editable region that is green.
When I go to post a link it will not show up. I went to the page properties to change the color , hit apply, and it does not change the color. Help!

Sorry but you'll need to be a bit more specific to have this answered properly.  Posting a link to your site would help, as well.

  • Compass will not calibrate - Grounds for return, o...

Like the title says, the compass on my Lumia 800 refuses to calibrate accurately.
I've calibrated it dozens of times and it always ends up pointing in the same direction, however that's around 120 degrees or so off.
I need to know from Nokia whether this is a permanent fault, or if it can and will be fixed in a patch. If it's a fault then I need to get in touch with the place I bought it from and initiate a return.
There's another thread here that says to use a specifc compass app, but that doesn't have anything to do with this.. all apps use the same compass and all apps are equally wrong on my phone.
Thanks for any advice on this.
    Regards
    Rob

    @robax
As 1600.2483.8107.11501 update imminent which will make Zune take a backup of your device, why not take oportunity to reset your Lumia 800 and if issue still present then probably time to return your device for attention.

  • RMCB0300 is not working in back ground job

    Hi
I call t-code MC.9 program (RMCB0300) in back ground by using sample code given below.
      SUBMIT RMCB0300 WITH SL_WERKS-LOW = u2018ABCDu2019
                      WITH SL_LGORT = 'W001'
EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY AND RETURN.
      CALL FUNCTION 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY'
        TABLES
          LISTOBJECT = LISTOBJECT
        EXCEPTIONS
          NOT_FOUND  = 4
          OTHERS     = 8.
      IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
      ENDIF.
The 'LIST_FROM_MEMORYu2019 is getting correct output in four ground but
      not in back ground job.
    Kindly help.

When you use 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY' it basically imports the memory id '%_LIST'.
When running MC.9 in foreground the memory id '%_LIST' is saved (you can check in debugging) but in background the memory id is not saved
This is why you are not getting the data correctly in background.

  • Power adaptors - some require connections to grounded outlets others not. Why difference in advice ?

For my elitebook 2570 P laptop:
Some 65 Watt HP adaptors require grounded outlets (e.g. series PPP009H part no. 519329-002) and 80 watt travel adaptor HSTNN-DA22, part no. 601-485 001, but others do not require grounded outlet: series PPP009L, part no. 384019-001.
Why does HP give different advice on the correct uses of these adaptors ? What should be the advice ?

  • Electrical Issues

I am using my MacBook on an Open Ground outlet. I can be shocked when touching metal objects attached to the macbook (e.g. usb cables). Today, I noticed the cord became hot. Not warm, but so hot that I can't hold on to it. I am certain that some melting has occured. It currently is unplugged and it seems there is some damage to the actual cord. I noticed the issue when I was running Windows Vista and playing a game while the battery was charging. The Macbook is currently out of warrenty. What should I do? Shouldn't the Macbook fare fine on an open ground? Or is this a result of charge build up in the macbook? Will Apple replace the adapter?

    Hi Javad,
Actually you should stop using it when you get shocked and move to other power outlet.
Look like your open ground outlet not well grounded and you can get shocked by it.
Apple should be fine with open ground outlet as long as it well grounded.
I believe you should fix the open ground outlet (if that is within your property area), and or use other good outlet.
And get yourself a new mag safe. Also check with your local authorize service center or apple store to make sure there is no harm done on your macbook.
    Good Luck.

  • Static elictricity on MacBook Pro Retina's body disrupts use while charging, any way to ground it?

Hi, I have this old MacBook Pro Retina I got a couple years ago, and part of its original charging kit's wires gave up right next to the MagSafe2 plug, so I purchased a new power adapter, and it appears to not be grounded at all.
When the notebook is charging, static on its metal body is so strong it completely disrupts any work. I cannot use trackpad almost at all, it won't register taps and the coursor is jumping all over the screen even if I don't move my finger at all. To use the notebook I have to keep one of my palms on the metal part of it, and even then after a while my fingers get a little burned on the trackpad, which is inconvenient to say the least.
Anyone have any ideas, how can I can fix this or at least reduce the effects?
I'm in Russia, it's 220v here, power outlets with 2 plugs (no 3rd metal one for grounding).
I've read a bunch of articles about grounding outlets, but they all suggest to bury a metal cable into some soil, which is not possible as I live on 21st floor.
I figured it's the new power adapter's fault, because the old one doesn't act up like that (but I am reluctant to keep using it because its inner metal wiring in places is not covered by plastic anymore, and I fear it might cause a short circuit or something).
When I purchased the new adapter, I was assured it's completely original, but now I suspect it might be a counterfeit, so I would just have purchased another new one, but kinda afraid it will not be original too and will cause the same problems.

It keeps the green light on for a while after I unplug it from the notebook. The scratched part is extension from the old adapter.
