I am assisting in the creation of a form that will be used by support personnel to send to clients.

Dynamic text disappears when clicking bold button.

I have dynamic text inside a movieclip, that I can make it rotate.
the dynamic text properties are : anti-alias for anmations and I emdedded all characters.
When I click on the bold button the the text disappears.

the easiest (and not very elegant way) is to add textfields that contain those fonts (and embed them). you can remove your textfields from the display list or otherwise, make them not visible on-stage.

How to make a text field become empty when clicked in.

I have an input textbox, if the user clicks 'submit' and the

yep, use the onSetFocus method.
my_text_field_instance_name.onSetFocus = function() {
my_text_field_instance_name.text = "";
but be careful here, because if the user fills in there info,
then clicks off the text field then back on, the text will
disappear, you will need to use a combo with onKillFocus or an if
staement.... play with it. its real simple

How can I make rectangular speech bubbles that adapt to the text inside them without the "arrow" that points towards where the bubble is coming from getting changed?

I have to make lots of speech bubbles (150+) that all have texts inside them which differ in length. I want the speech bubbles to look the same in terms of style, but I need different sizes of course for each text. This means that the rectangular part of the speech bubble should adapt in length and width to the text inside it, while the "arrow" pointing towards where the bubble is coming from (e.g. the person who speaks) should stay the same on every bubble. So is there a way or a workaround to make such "adapting" speech bubbles?

Here's another way I found:
1. Draw a speech bubble. Mine is a rectangle with rounded corners and a triangular pointer added with Pathfinder > Add
2. Drag out a frame the same size as the speech bubble. Select the speech bubble and Copy; then select the empty frame and choose Edit > Paste Into...
3. Alt-Drag the frame with the pasted speech bubble to make a copy, then crop one copy to leave only the top of the bubble showing, and crop the other copy to leave only the bottom.
4. Drag out a text frame and insert a table consisting of 1 column, 3 rows. Set the text frame to Autosize > Height Only.
5. Set the stroke/fill of the top and bottom rows to none, and style the middle row to match the speech bubble, (in my case a white fill and 2pt stroke; left and right).
6. Anchor (paste) a copy of the speech bubble top in the top table row, and a copy of the speech bubble bottom in the bottom row.
Getting the 3 parts to match up with is where you just have to work on it until you get it right. Use the positioning tools in Anchored Object options and the column width setting in Cell options to line everything up.
Enter your text in the middle row. (Hey, look at that...a valid application of Comic Sans!) With the Cell Height set to an "At Least" setting, the cell will expand to fit whatever text you enter, pushing the the bottom row down, with the text frame auto-sizing to keep everything in play...

I have a hard time reading some of the smaller fonts in context menus but this is not really a context menu. If I open Word and then right click anywhere you see a menu. Is there any way to make the fonts IN THIS MENU larger?

The font size of the context menu is controlled by Windows, not by Word.

With Panorama/TabCandy, when you have some "App Tabs" isolated into a group then open a normal tabs included into antoher group. Clicking on an "App Tab" makes the normal tabs disappear.

How to make text clicks go with the volume?

My old iPod 3G used to make text typing sounds according to my volume. So if my volume was off there would be no text noises but with my new iPod touch the texting sounds are there regardless. What do I do?

Print widget makes answer box and buttons disappear when clicked

I've tried two print widgets so far
1. the widget that comes standard with Captivate 4 and
2. the one posted here http://forums.adobe.com/message/1937195 by a community member.
Issues:
1. standard print widget - once the user has typed in their answer (on a short answer question slide) and presses the print widget icon the preview bar shows up and makes the answer box disappear as well as the buttons on the page. So yes, they can print that slide but then there's no way for them to move forward to the next question, answer it and print again etc.
2. the print widget created by the community member in the thread linked above makes the answer box disappear entirely. The user can't even answer the question.
In both instances I can't "bring to front" because they're placed on question slides and the option is greyed out. I don't know what to do at this point but I REALLY REALLY need the print function to work for these courses.

Text inside cards - need help to make it print

When I hit print, I get the outside of the card (photo included) and the "made on a mac" plus the inside of the card but only background design - not the text I have typed in.
I have previewed - I see the "four pages" - the text is missing.
I have pdf'd the file but it only pdf's the outside of the card.
While in iPhoto, making the card, I can see both the outside and inside with the text inside the card.
Hope someone has some helpful advice!

Hi Larry, thanks for the suggestion. I successfully followed the instructions your link provided. It does now preview all four 'sides' of the card which is an improvement but the text on the inside of the card does not show. I used the view to insert text on the front of the card (where the photo goes) and that text does show up. I'm still perplexed. Any other help would be really welcome!

How to recognize the text inside a text box

we have a scenario where we are validating the text inside a text box. Actually, we are inserting a text matching test on a node.
The scenario is like this:
When we open the screen it contains 6 text boxes.
We have to enter the text in the first 3 text boxes and save.
Then based on the entry the values are populated on the other three text boxes.
We have to validate the values in these text boxes , so we click and highlight the value.
Openscript identfiy the text box ,but it did not identify or recorded the values we have highlighted.
How to make the openscript recognize the values? Can we do it through menu options or else we need to write the code?
Any help will be appreciated.

Put all inside a PanelGroupLayout and set the layout to SCROLL.

Using Accordion Style text inside Flash

Looking for some ideas on how I could have text object with a link inside to display the information below the link still inside the text object. My thoughts were to use an html file inside the text object and have links that would display an accordion like text below the link. Before I start venturing in this direction, thought there may be a better approach?
Basic concept: Paragraph of text, inside the paragraph a link. When clicked the additional text appears below the link and the rest of the text pushes down, musch like an accordion style panel.
Look inside SPRY and there is nothing there.
Any ideas?

That's because it's probably stripping the characters it doesn't like, such as HTML and formatting. Your best strategy at that point is to convert it before you send it through your script so your script tolerates it. You can try the encode() function run on your string which will URL encode it and the decode() function can restore it. Otherwise you need to replace anything your script doesn't like with something else intentionally. e.g. turn <i>italics</i> into [i]italics[/i] and then later fix it.
I myself would look at what PHP is doing. Chances are it's running the striptags function. It's just a safety measure to stop SQL injections (make code safer). But that may not be what you want. If you're at all uncomfortable with that, you'd best not do it though. You take the risk someone will sneak something in that you do not want.

Submenu disappears after click in Firefox only

I have created a horizontal spry menu which is working fine, but in Firefox the submenu disappears after clicking a submenu item - you then have to roll over the parent menu item to make the submenu visible again. In Safari the submenu remains visible even after clicking an item. I would prefer the menu to behave as it does in Safari. A link to the site is www.jakeharris.ca if anyone can help - look at it in Safari and Firefox to see the differences (not sure how it is in IE!)

That is how the submenu is programmed to work...to hide when you get to the page you call.
Although my Safari did not work the way yours did (I am on XP), I think what you are actually asking about is what I would call "local page indicators." That is, a kind of 'sign' that you are on a specific page.
In your case, for each page, you would show an "open" menu with the appropriate menu list item highlighted with your normal hover color.
There may be a way in the javascript to allow the submenu on a page to be always "on" or open, but I don't know much about javascript, so I can't help with that.
If you have not used a Template to build the pages, it is even easier than fiddling with the javascript, if a tiny bit timeconsuming.
Locally-significant styling is pretty straightforward, in theory.
On each page, replace the class on the top menu item (on the main bar) for that page (right now it will say something like <li><a class="MenuBarItemSubmenu" href="#">Item 1</a> with a new class (you might call it "localpage") so you can make descendant selectors that apply to showing the submenu. Then write styles that cancel the 'hide' technique...get rid of the left: -1000em; for instance. I haven't gone through and worked this through, but it should work. Let me know if you need code; I need to go to breakfast right now, though!
Then make another class to style the individual items for their pages, for instance .local that can be grouped with the hover styles that change the item color when you hover over them:

On each page, add this class to the menu item that pertains to that page:

on the "Chasing Wild Horses" page, for instance.
This is a pretty subtle and elegant solution to what most people use <h1> heads for. Keep in mind, though, that if you want SEO to understand your page, without a hierarchical text indicator, it might be too subtle, as h1, h2, etc. heads help to indicate levels of importance of content for search engines and screen readers.
But it will look great, nonetheless.

If you click it , than a site will apear where is all the text                             .

- make a button with just 'Dogs'
- add it to the stage
- double click on it to edit it
- go to frame 'Over' and add the Grandma interesting cookies text or what ever... this will make the text appear when you go over the button
- and as for the going to a site, i guess you could just hyperlink the text to the web page, but there is an action for that 100% but im not shure how it goes... ill try to get it and post it but im shore that somebody will help you before me...
